I don't suppose there are many aficionados of ColourTube who would be morally in a position to judge you for your pencil collection, especially when you are actively creating videos. I've certainly been swayed to buy pencils that I really didn't need, & ultimately don't really like. To this day I don't know why I bought a full set of Prismacolor, I literally force myself to use them. On the other hand, I am a complete sucker for Derwent, I love the Lightfast range to pieces & I really don't need the lightfast capability. What I'm getting around to saying is that I love to see what everyone feels about their own pencil choices, because we are all different and find different things to love/hate about them! I loved seeing all your pencils & what you think of them.
Lovely collection. Never think you have too many. These tools bring you joy and relaxation and that’s worth a high price indeed. You have a full-on life. You deserve to have beautiful things for yourself. Weather sounds terrible.
I had saved up money over the past year and I have had open stock Albrecht Druher, but not many, so for Xmas I treated myself to the full set and then I bought the 100 set of Derwent lightfast in a box set and on the night I was doing the swatching (I HATE swatching) I was watching Ryan on Color n Recover swatch luminance and stopped watching to go back to cult pens to order the 100 set. No regrets either. The lightfast & luminance work brilliantly together. I reckon they each have individual colours that no other set has and the luminance is the brights to the lightfast is the more muted shades and together Kapow you have the perfect combination. I loved watching your collection and agree totally that the Astra is a better buy than pastel holbein (but am not a huge fan of pastels) but got them for £12 before everyone was trying to get them and bought direct from manufacturers in Poland. My favourite pencil ever are my inktense. I shall never regret their purchase. Until I bought the Albrecht Druher 120 set I had always just used them as coloured pencils and only recently activated them for the 1st time. I was awestruck. I have had the open stock 30 years and they have travelled Australia with me and had used half the canary yellow when my 18 month old son wanted a poster of big Bird which I couldn't not buy in Far North Queensland so I drew it and coloured it myself. I am kicking myself now that I didn't activate it. Lol the things we do for our kids eh? Love my pencils now they're all grown up. Merry Xmas Deb & virtual hugs. I have a sinus infection too. I use small binder and protector sheets for my swatch sheets. That way if I want to get rid of any I can just take the sheet out. I had to add a second binder for watercolor but it seems to be working out.
I love having fun and pretty pencil cases as well. After all our pencils are worth it. I asked for the Derwent Lightfast pencils for Christmas. So maybe if I am a good girl Santa will bring a set for me. Ha! Thanks for sharing your stash. Carla

Your collection is so curated, I love it! I’ve also been thinking of reorganizing my swatches, but I also don’t enjoy swatching, so, I they will be kept as is, in a cumbersome binder 🥰. I’d love to see your watercolor collection 😛 I’m in Mexico, where Prismacolors are the cheapest, even cheaper than some of the hyped budget pencils.
Love the bumble bee pencil case you store the albrecht durers in . where did you get it please. i love the fact that others dont have to worry about having too many pencils. i try to rotate my sets.
No judgment here. You can have as many pencils as you like and I'll just admire them. Even though my collection is similar to yours, it's always nice to see what other's have and which one's they use the most, etc. Thanks for sharing!

🤭 I was disappointed that there was no new inticement lol - You have a nice balanced collection there. My recommendations - Try using the irrotijin and the Holbein in Klara Markova's books. I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but your pastel pencils can be activated with water to give a WC effect look. My last game changer--- drum roll -- get your self some pencil tops (they look like pen caps but with cute pics) for your wee PC stubbies - IMO much cheaper, cuter and more convenient than using bulky pencil extenders.
I went a bit nuts on coloured pencil sets this year so I have no room for judgement. Derwent Lightfast, CD Luminance, CD Pablos, Castle Arts. It's funny how much personal preference plays a part. I adore my Holbeins and imported them from Japan. You were talking Prismacolors - don't know if you're aware but there is a guy who sells them openstock. Artist Pencils Online. He's up near Durham somewhere.
That actually makes me feel a lot better lol. I went a little Black Friday crazy and after ordering Prismas (full set) on sale I realized Polychromos were the better choice, and as I was ordering those I convinced myself that it was ok to get the full set of Albrecht Durer too 😂. I am now debating with myself if I'm going to send the Prismas back or keep them too. Books and art supplies are my weakness, even if I do try to balance "collection" vs "clutter"

I really loved the Aquarelles but hey it's OK if they're not your thing. They're def more rich while the ADS are more like a watercolor. We all can't agree 100%. You like Prisma so you're ok in my book.
i don't see a problem with the many sets, the use is spread over several sets and individual pencils have to be bought less often than, for example, if you only have a smaller set. Especially if you mainly draw with coloured pencils, then the amount of supplies is only concentrated on the area of coloured pencils. In contrast to me, I use many materials, with a focus on watercolour, then I have more than with other materials but only something from each area and not as specialized as someone who only does one technic. And that's why I don't have the urge to try out all kinds of materials from one area. Just a few things to have some choice, and usually they're more high-quality things that I can rely on. For example, I don't try out every colour pencil box I find. I have 2-3 from the following areas: Discounter own brand, cheap branded goods for children for school, 1€ shops, budget Asian brands from Amazon, high-quality branded colouring pencils for artists. I'm still missing student-grade colouring pencils. The only thing I'm a bit confused about is the green gold from the polychromos. Unfortunately, my green gold doesn't work very well and is a bit hard and crumbles and doesn't stay on the paper properly, it's very gritty. It's very hard to apply and when there's a bit on the paper, I can't apply anything any more and just push the particles back and forth. Apparently there exist badly made pencils from quality brands, which shouldn't be the case with a high-quality, expensive colour pencil like the polychromos. i mean, it's a pity when in such an expensive box some colour pencils don't work well. It's also a pity for FC because then some people are not convinced by the colour pencils and prefer to buy other brands and think they are not good. I once tried all 7 ultramarine light colored pencils in a shop and unfortunately all were very hard and were difficult to apply. I thought at the beginning that it would only be the one not well made pen in my 12 box and in the big box probably the only bad pen, I did not expect that others will not be good either.
I have sent you an email on how I swatch my pencils and pens right in the case on the right paper, instead of needing a separate swatch book, As I think it’s much easier, and if you would like it do the same if you like my idea, I have never seen anyone else do anything like this and don’t have a channel to share my idea If you like this idea could you do a video, to share in the colouring community as I can’t x

I first bought every Derwent pencils in the 12 tins to try out before I got the full sets.
I’m enjoying this …..again ……try the Caran d ache full blender, it is crazy like magic.

Love your collection try the coloured pencil shop online for your open stock prismas, that’s where I get my whites xx

Me two…I have 4 for different mediums…I have just discovered A5 graph paper books and draw grids on them…they look so much neater than lined paper…🥰

You are missing the magic of the museum aquarelle pencils. They are top in the aquarell category. I suggest that you use them more to get their beauty

The Chromaflow pencils are a total failure from Derwent. They are not worth the price or a place in our collections!
I would have to agree. I donated my chromaflow because my hands hurt every time that I used them.
