Not a lot of people would have the skill to pull this off, especially welding the ends on. For me I would just get moser 31 spline axles and a 31 spline differential, easy peasy. Even some moser SN95 axles and get some sn95 take off parts brackets for the brakes would also work and widen the stance of the rear. Rear calipers could be sourced from Rockauto, to complete the install...
Well, this video is not for those people then. If it could be just as strong and save a third of the money, it gives people options but thanks for your input……
Good project. Will stay tuned for next video on this subject.
Now this is some REAL hot roddin! Great info on these rears man.
Appreciate it!
It might be too late for this but I would buy 2x V8 Explorer axles, cut off both of the long axle tubes at the center section, then clean them up.
Next cut the axle tubes completely out of the Fox body axle, trim the Explorer axle tubes to the correct width and weld them in to the Fox body center section. Weld Fox body style brackets on the axle tubes to bolt in, run the Explorer disk brakes, then either get custom axles or respline some Explorer axles.
It might be a little more expensive but it's cleaner and gives you lots of options for axle width and you get disk brakes in the bargain.
If you build it the specific width to use two Explorer short axles it might actually be cheaper and could make broken axles replacement a parts store purchase instead of a custom order.
I do like the brain storm ! Good ideas
Great video neo.. Pumping out the knowledge..
Yeah man, folks have been using those explorer 8.8s in GM G bodies and Jeeps for a min now. I’m glad to see one going into a Fox body
Love the black car. It's probably one of the only builds on RUclips that I would actually want to copy the motor trans and rear end. It makes a stout budget build. Just ordered one of those snap back hats of yours they look great can't wait to get it.
Thank you !
some of the newer ranger come 8,8 410 31 spline thats a direct fit in a fox housing you have to get two diver side axle i just do remember what year ranger but nice work dan to see skills and experience come togather
I would be interested to find out what years
thanks for the info !
Great job. I can't wait for the finished product
Thanks!
Nice, can't wait to see how it turns out.👍👊👊
Budget builds are huge today, with prices continuing to get higher, get your Shit off the jackstands
💯
Love the dedication!
Oh yeah go wide
Great job, great idea 💡 bro
Nice project. Could you just turn the bearing ends down of 2 long explorer axles and stick them into a foxbody 8.8?
I think the axles are only surface hardened. If you turn them down the bearings will only be riding on soft steel.
I put 31spline 1988 f150 axle gears in my Foxbody 8.8 .. from there i put moser axles in it with Cclip eliminators . Im not saying anything bad about what your doing im just letting ppl know that the 31spline f150 axle gears will fit in the 28 spline carrier .. its been a while back maybe i used the spider gears out of the F150 lsd carrier aswell i cant remember .. im just trying to help not start a pissing contest to see who can piss farther lmbo .. btw mine us not a disc brake set up !!!
Yeah, there’s nothing wrong with sharing. This is a 31 spine unit though which is quite a bit stronger than 28.
@@Neomustangs the more we know !!!! Right ???
@@Neomustangsis ìt stronger? He just changed the spider gears to get the diff to take 31 spline axles. Did they make a stronger carrier for the 31 spline diffs? That seems unlikely to me.
@@beardoe6874 31 spline spider gears/axles are strong than 28 yes. You can do that. Id imagine most dont bother they just put the same carrier with spiders in replacing the old.
What is an estimate on the machine work? Cool idea and I am going to looking into something like this myself but the machine work is a bit of a drawback. Maybe I can do it on my little Craftsman/ atlas lol
50-100$ tops
You just took a sinple driveline upgrade (for most mechanically inclined people) and turned it into the most complicated way to get from stock to 31 spline. Word to the wise, save your money and buy the correct parts.
If that’s complicated for you then this channel isn’t for you … good luck
@@Neomustangs lol that's the only video I've watched and it's definitely not for me. I wouldnt put that Frankenstein under anything🤙
@@ericwieboldt7042 I will and you can watch me succeed. And if this is the only video you have watched thats part of the problem lol
@@Neomustangsdont forget to post the video of when she fails.
@@ericwieboldt7042 HAHAHAH Sure thing pal. And when it works.. make sure you say "Damn you were right"... stick around
Hey dumb question and may kinda defeat the purpose but could the ends of the axles be machined to fit bearing for the fox?
I think the axles are only surface hardened. If you turn them down the bearings will only be riding on soft steel.
Interested in this info/ job
