But most important I'm here to emphasize that you MUST study abroad if you have the chance! you will not regret it! Through scholarships, loans, or maybe a credit card, you can do it!!! I am currently in France and I love it so much. -

    I literally cannot afford to study abroad, I don't qualify for scholarships and I don't even get financial aid which is really difficult. I have to drop a year of school to currently work two part time jobs that pay very little just to save up for two semesters worth of school here in the states and not even my parents help me. So, no it is not affordable for everyone because some people have to pay for their education out of pocket. Just food for thought. I mean it must be very wonderful to afford studying abroad but that is way out of my reach, sadly. =(

      not everyone is privileged like you to be able to enjoy this opportunity.

      Hi there ! If studying in the US too expensive for you, I might be able to help you out. French universities do not cost a lot of money. I am Canadian, and I'm doing another degree for around 250euros PER YEAR. so if you are struggling, maybe look into that :)

    • @fleursdesel
      @fleursdesel 7 лет назад +1

      Ya sure ! what would you like to know ?

    • @fleursdesel
      @fleursdesel 7 лет назад +27

      95% of french universities are public and reputable (one of the rare private ones is Université catholique de Lille, HEC Paris). That means that 95% of universities cost the exact same in all of France regardless of the major that you are choosing. So wether it is in Paris, Bordeaux, Lyon, Reims, Marseille etc, it's going to cost you about (250 euros) 300$USD MAX. You will have to add 250 euros for health insurance. Same costs wether you're in medical school, law school, business, economics, psychology, mathematics, humanities etc. Same fees in all cities.
      You will also need to apply for a student VISA that will cost you around 200$USD. You will have to justify that you are able to live with a minimum of 620 euros per month during your stay.
      My original plan was to live with 1000 euros/month. My family encountered financial problems during the first month that I have gotten here, and ever since I live with 600-650 euros/month. I also live in a popular city, so yes it is doable (but it's harder). Groceries here are not as expensive as in north America. phone plans/wifi either. the only annoying thing is finding an apartment, which I advise you to look into well in advance (NOT a month before moving in).
      My advice to you is to live with a minimum of 800 euros/month if you don't want to be deprived of the essentials. :)

    Thank you so much for making this video!! I've always been interested in studying abroad ever since I was like 13 years old. I'm Dutch and I'm a freshman in college, studying Management Tourism so studying abroad is obviously talked about a lot. I'm for sure thinking about either studying abroad or doing an internship abroad in my third year of college and I can't wait. Everyone that has done it always talks so positive about it and that it changed their life and hell yes I'm ready for it

    I a lot of people at my university actually study aboard during their sophomore year because depending on the program you are in, it's easier to get your gen ed. out of the way aboard rather than take major classes aboard (again depending on your major)

Save up those gen eds/electives for abroad because it's very possible to do those! Also, if you find schools that offer biology classes, (this is what I have done) make sure that they can transfer over at the appropriate level that you want to bring back to your home school!

    Hey!! I'm planning to go for a summer to the same school you went to. Aix-en-Provence. and I'm very undecided about if I want to stay ina. dorm of I should go for a home, staying with a family. I heard that's a good way to have a full experience and it will also save me some money in food. But some people say that some families have strict rules and ... I don't know, I don't know what to DO. What do you think from your experience?

    How much spending money do you recommend saving for a summer study abroad program in France? It'd be like 6 weeks long, and a homestay is strongly recommended so some meals are covered in tuition if you stay with a family the whole time.

I am only about to start high school, but I've been looking at study abroad programs like ASSE for high school students as opposed to college students. If I were to apply would you recommend a whole school year for someone in 10th or 11th grade or do you think from personal experience that a whole year would be too long for someone that young?
