One of their best reviews. Somehow, I try to show restraint when buying games, but these guys are definitely the most influential on my collection. So far I've bought AS, K2, X-Wing, Suburbia and Keyflower. I've also got Archipelago waiting in my shopping basket.
My group likes this. It was our first deck builder. Worth noting is that the rules only make sense if you've played a deck builder before. If you're new to the the genre, they're difficult to follow. Also, a tip: if you find the game too short, chuck a sniper or thugs in the contested pile to extend the game.
I bought this game because of you guys. It just arrived today and I'm so excited to play it. I love how you guys focus so much on how games make you feel and the importance of playing WITH other people, not just in the same room as them. Thanks for making a more welcoming community, all three of you are awesome :)
I realize that this is a repost of a review, but the line 'toe to toe with any game we reviewed this year' doesn't have much of a punch when you're watching the video in January.
Beware! you can still find the early editions of this game being sold! Make sure you get the version packaged with the HQ and Recon expansions. you don't spend more money but you get more stuff. here's the amazon source: www.amazon.com/Arctic-Scavengers-Recon-Expansion-Board/dp/B00VWJDCTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485386700&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+scavengers
Because of your review and finding a solitaire variant from a guy on BGG called "Soloplayforone", this will be the next game that I will definitely be buying when I can pull some money together. I want to personally feel the thrill that you talk about here during quarantine time :)
this game is better than dominion about 4 times, including the expansions. this is because of the hidden information, the flavor, and the battle for contested resources each round....but most of all because you can win in multiple different ways. You can win by fighting...or by convincing more gangs to join you. then dominion wins with it's endless flexibility, even if it is less interactive. in dominion: "I militia YOUR hands" "I jester YOUR decks" "All of YOU jokers discard a silver" less interactive, but not non-interactive. Also, Arctic Scavengers is very weak as a two player game, while dominion is an incredible two player game.
Still one of my favorite reviews. I think this might have been the video that made me start keeping up with the site on a regular basis. Love the smash cut in the middle, love the interruption of the gunshot. It's all got a very... sneaky, somewhat unsettling tone that works with the game. Good stuff.
Just sold it. I played many games and I feel this game is unbalanced, frustrating as I would play a few turns more and higly dependant on luck, especially for the opening hand.
Thank you so much for this video! I have been hemming and hawing over this game for a week now, tormented by my own indecision. After watching your review I couldn't click on "buy" fast enough! :D
Hi there! As we previously discussed.... Here is the link showing off my solo variant for the game: ruclips.net/video/uDCqyylxRwA/видео.html You can play with or without the Recon expansion. Enjoy! FYI... I've got a homemade co-op expansion coming soon. :)
Thank you very much. This will be my next purchase. My copy of Android:Netrunner comes in tomorrow, I am super excited, thank you for introducing it to me. Thanks for that, and for duelyst, which I am now addicted to.
i bought it from france and from the USA, and the USA copy was half the cost www.amazon.com/Arctic-Scavengers-Recon-Expansion-Board/dp/B00VWJDCTO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485386700&sr=8-1&keywords=arctic+scavengers
Back in 2013-14, the art was just starting to improve and the cards were transitioning to the current frame, which debuted in Apprentice Edition, which is clearer/cleaner. I remember a lot of people played Ascension for the mechanics and lore, they were 50/50 on the art.
These are old reviews being re-uploaded to youtube. This particular review is from 2014 and the second "Deception" expansion (later renamed to "Recon") was released in 2015 :P
Their early videos didn't appear on RUclips. And when they started uploading on RUclips, they just decided against a mega upload of old videos. So they just deliver them sporadic, so that subscribers can get into the old ones from time to time.
Because all of the old videos are on vimeo, which require them pay a fee to host. They're migrating all the old vimeo videos here now that they have a youtube channel.
The reason they're uploading "old" videos is they''re taking videos that used to be on vimeo and uploading them here. The dripfeed thing is more to keep the channel more active.(I assume)
lol, lots of people know that the videos used to be on vimeo, but where are the old-timers that remember when the videos before that used to be youtube on the penny arcade channel?
I like the drip feed delivery. No chance to over saturate on it. Although it would be pretty swank to have a quick one or two minute addendum saying if their feelings on the game have changed since it's original release.
Thanks for the review!!! I think your right... this game really has some teeth to it!!!!! I love the concept and the options!!! who publishes this game and what is the price point???
I’ve been watching these for hours, but I still don’t know which of them is sit down, and which is shut up
It's been a few years, but we now know that Quinns was Sit Down.
Jesus Christ, that nearly gave me a heart attack.
I definitely jumped out of my skin. That was a pretty serious sound effect.
I was about to close the page cuz I was tired and I thought my boiler exploded lol
Four years later and I'm jumping too!
@@kevinmathews4050 Still jumping!
Anyone else notice the glass broke before the bang was heard? Such detail. ;)
I remember this one. Semi-spoiler: I was SO startled by the you-know-what.
Boy I just watched it and you-know-what made me fall off my chair!
"expansules" is actually a perfect term for that kind of thing, I'm gonna use that.
One of their best reviews. Somehow, I try to show restraint when buying games, but these guys are definitely the most influential on my collection. So far I've bought AS, K2, X-Wing, Suburbia and Keyflower. I've also got Archipelago waiting in my shopping basket.
So happy to see these videos coming to RUclips. Vimeo from Australia can be real flakey so i've missed a lot. Thanks SU&SD
I think someone is going to have to scavenge the shit out of my pants from 9:59.
They'll find me there.
This was hilarious haha
I love the frozen reference pear.

Find out what we thought of the latest expansion here: www.shutupandsitdown.com/review-arctic-scavengers-recon/
JESUS that gunshot startled me!
I realize that this is a repost of a review, but the line 'toe to toe with any game we reviewed this year' doesn't have much of a punch when you're watching the video in January.
I love the man that passes by at 0:54 he's jut giving you the look of "what is up with this man?"
Quinns netrunner tips intro is glorious
The running at 10:58 is just so good.
lol
I still remember the episode where Quinn discusses the end of Netrunner. I understand why he was so emotional. He's so passionate.
Beware! you can still find the early editions of this game being sold!

Oh my god the gunshot nearly made me spill my coffee on to the laptop!!
Because of your review and finding a solitaire variant from a guy on BGG called "Soloplayforone", this will be the next game that I will definitely be buying when I can pull some money together. I want to personally feel the thrill that you talk about here during quarantine time :)

10:00 I nearly choked on my beer !
Never put a gun on a table...directed on you
Is this game still good and relevant?
It is fantastic.
Dammit, I bought thunderstone trying to have a good deck builder in my collection. 2 years later this comes out.
2019. Still waiting for the Deception expansion...
0:52 he was clearly too shy to ask you to come home play some Eclipse.
Love the game, but I will say the theme and unintuitivness turns a lot of people off. Also I'm terrible at it, but that is neither here nor there.
This is one of the best deck builders out there and doesn't get enough love. So happy to see the (old) recommendation.
Just sold it. I played many games and I feel this game is unbalanced, frustrating as I would play a few turns more and higly dependant on luck, especially for the opening hand.

“Let me tell you about Robert gab Hearts Arctic’s cabbage”
Best be wary of any air benders Robert gab Hearts Arctic. I hear they don’t like cabbages.
"When you get to the 1-hour mark of a game of Dominion" dafuq? You mean you're on your 4th game of Dominion at that point?
Oh Netrunner, how I miss thee.
Hi there! As we previously discussed.... Here is the link showing off my solo variant for the game:

You can play with or without the Recon expansion. Enjoy!

I fucking love this theme
Mint condition standard reference Pear. I want one.
the review is the best one iv seen simply brilliant!!
Could someone link where I can get this version of Arctic Scavengers in the US?
www.shutupandsitdown.com/games/arctic-scavengers/ Funagain and 401 both have the new version with the latest expansion in stock.
Thank you very much. This will be my next purchase. My copy of Android:Netrunner comes in tomorrow, I am super excited, thank you for introducing it to me. Thanks for that, and for duelyst, which I am now addicted to.
any way to tell if this still in print or is it another euro only game
It is published Rio Grande Games. They are in the US. It sells for $32.99 on Minituremarket.com and is in stock right now.
i bought it from france and from the USA, and the USA copy was half the cost

When was the video recorded?
from description:
First published on April 4, 2014.
8:01 👀👀👀👀 what building????
Played my first game of Netrunner last week and *really* wish I'd taken the advice in this video at the time :/
Thank you. You have made my dads game so popular
Would you guys ever expand into table top game reviews. I’d love to see 40k reviewed by a non 40k player.
Bad art? I love ascensions art. Though I'm kinda bored of the game itself.
Back in 2013-14, the art was just starting to improve and the cards were transitioning to the current frame, which debuted in Apprentice Edition, which is clearer/cleaner. I remember a lot of people played Ascension for the mechanics and lore, they were 50/50 on the art.
What did I miss? Why are we getting so many reviews as of late?
These are old reviews being re-uploaded to youtube. This particular review is from 2014 and the second "Deception" expansion (later renamed to "Recon") was released in 2015 :P
Gyrogyro oh haha thanks mate :)
caant wait till the expansion in 2014.XD
Why is this channel constantly re-uploading old video's?

New Deception expansion?
not cool on the gunshot jumpscare
Third times a charm? ;)
that toy gun is not going to defend you vs a real threat mate. you need to get real.
