    Mapo tofu is one of my favorite foods ever! You make it almost the same as I do! I add some ground Sichuan pepper at the end, but I know it can be very hard to find in many countries. Mapo tofu is always delicious, especially with some rice. I love the black beans inside the sauce because they add so much tasty flavor.

    Your mapo tofu is a little different from the usual mapo tofus served at restaurants. Its suppose to have a more saucey and watery consistency. The one you made looks dryer. Most usually fry some dry chili and keep the chili oil for the tofu as well as add in szechaun pepper. You didnt add shaoxing rice wine into the mince meat for flavor

    Not that authentic...you should boil the tofu instead of soaking them in and drain them properly. Also add some green onions and chop those black beans...

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 8 лет назад

      Then what is the point of making the Chinese food? Western Chinese food? To show how to make fake Chinese food? My cookbooks do better jobs than them.

      Who are you to say what to do to a stranger? I like authentic Chinese food, what is wrong with that? I am allowed to voice my opinion just like anyone else, and am I talking to you? It is a viewer's opinion, nothing to do with you. Bug off.

    • @KittenBowl1
      @KittenBowl1 8 лет назад +2

      Like who are you talking to? And who types with all capital case or what? Are you insane? And firstly, I am Asian and I know how to make authentic Chinese dish because I learned it from my mom, so just shut up. I'm not a hater. I can make a comment for a video that sucks. And WTF are you to tell me how to talk and what I say, I can say what ever I want. It wasted my time by watching it. People should not waste time for watching something that sucks. I don't like when someone makes not so Authentic Chinese food and call it Mapo Dofu, that is not Mapo Dofu. It sucks, they should call it Australian Chinese food, not Chinese food. They destroy Chinese food, the video really sucks. So yeah I am entitled to say whatever I want. So go away.

    • @ayu72323919
      @ayu72323919 8 лет назад

      +Ellen W, i agree some part of your comment, although this tofu dish looks very tasty , this is not Mapo tofu at all! this only can be called "spicy bean paste tofu" , because the key ingredient Huajiao 花椒 is missing! where is the "Ma"麻 then ? and honestly you don't really have to response to someone who is acting more hater than you do, when they don't have the heart to listen to other people's voice, it's really unnecessary to waste your time and energy to fight back, just not worth it .

  • @sergiodma
    @sergiodma 5 лет назад

    Why is it so hard to get an authentic mapo tofu recipe in English? I especially don't like this channel because they justify their channel by being ethnic Chinese, but their recipes are pretty bad and unauthentic. For example, there is no "ma" in this tofu since they're not using Sichuan peppercorns. Plus, it should be cooked with soft tofu, not firm touf, the texture is completely different. Nobody in China would cook this dish with minced beef, but with minced pork. And the white part of the spring onion should me stir-fried in the beginning with the ginger and garlic.

    • @sergiodma
      @sergiodma 5 лет назад

      And no-one uses black beans for this, at least in Sichuan.
