Fantastic interview, i always think back to when they were around the piano and elvis tried to compete with who had the deepest voice, Eivis lost and grabbed JD's head in his hands laughing, ithink its fate to say that Elvis knew exactly who were a good fit for him and Richard was lucky to be a lady of that, well done guys for being able to interview the few that are still alive who have great stories to tell about Elvis. 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Great interview! We're losing these guys every day. Glad you grabbed Richard.. Speaking of J.D. Sumner, ironically Elvis convinced J.D. to stop drinking whiskey. No one convinced Elvis to stop taking drugs.
Deeper than that, if Elvis had never taken a drug, he would have still died in his 40's like his mother and her two brothers. He had Alpha 1 double gene because his mother's parents were first cousins which there was no cure in those days. All inherited lung disease, which people saw Elvis using an inhaler before concerts, he had heart disease, which was witness to by hair dresser Larry Geller who said he had a mild heart attack in 1975 but make Larry promise not to tell anyone. He was in pain the last 4 years of his life. He really used pain killers then. His bloated look and pasty skin was from his liver not filtering toxins in his body. His father had his autopsy sealed till 2026, but his personal physician said 9 of the 11 systems in the body were completely blocked. read the book by Sally Hoedel, "Destined to Die Young".
@@Mary-d5x6g Oh please stop with the nonsense. You clearly dont know what you are talking about. First cousin's marrying yield a 4% chance of birth defects vs the 2% of the general public.. Great interview I am a Elvis Historian and defender of the facts and this guy could sing and was in the inner circle he was always singing after the shoes in vegas Elvis loved his voice and had so much respect for him.
This is a great interview. Rich is a wonderful storyteller. After hearing Rich tell the story of Elvis' charisma, magnetism when coming into a room, I now believe he was put on this earth specifically by God himself. Thanks Rich
All time great interview. Richard is a very loyal and sincere friend to ELVIS, he has so many memories of his time with ELVIS. A REAL friend to ELVIS. RIchard is right, Gospel singing was ELVIS'S TRUE calling 💯🎤🎶❤️❤️❤️
This is awesome! I love hearing stories of Elvis of course but JD as well! I was able to meet him several times. Actually talked to him on phone not long after his wife ,Mary passed away. JD was one of a kind. Just his sense of humor & his voice. They will never ever be another bass singer like JD. He was the best but Rich is right there with him! Loved this interview, thanks for sharing!
Thanks guys for this wonderful interview with Richard Sterban ... always wondered why he left Elvis . He made the right choice ... 50 years with the mighty Oaks ! He certainly sounds like he had great respect and admiration for Elvis ... and that endears him to me even more ! Thank you Richard ... TCB forever !
Great interview guys,mr sterban felt the way about Elvis the way I figured he would especially with knowing him in just how special of an entertainer and person he was..demons or not there will never be another like Elvis weather your a fan or not..thanks again
Nice interview with Richard Sterban. Always thought that it was a real shame that Elvis' first concert at Las Vegas in 1969 and outside Las Vegas- Houston Astradome 1970, New York 1972 and others were not properly filmed.
I have to say one thing… THE most valuable experience we ( fans of your channel and IG ) get to witness is the incredible bond between a father and son. A journey taken together that will live forever in your hearts, and these videos decades from now will be revisited by Michael to reflect on the amazing journey you shared together , which is priceless. As a father of two young men myself, the family values you hold are beautiful. God Bless❤
Thank you for taking time to say that! I’m amazed when I look back at the miles we’ve traveled documenting Elvis and the buildings he played. I’m blessed beyond measure to have a son like Michael! Thanks for noticing the bond we have!
I'm 80 I remember him and his beautiful voice, very low. Saw him with Elvis in two concerts. Elvis loved gospel, and loved this quartet. thanks for doing this interview, great memories. God bless.
Richard Sterban:❤~ STAMPS~ You're still alive and well. I'm glad to see you when l saw the video You are such a good singer and play piano well 60years ago You've seen ❤ELVIS❤ So many times up close always Stay healthy and happy Please 🙏 Take good care of yourself ~ I'm korean fan🇰🇷~
Great interview, guys!! I really enjoyed listening to Mr. Sterban!! His speaking voice is still as smooth as his singing voice!! I learned so much more about the Oak Ridge Boys, and some new stuff about Elvis too!! I hope you guys have opportunities to do more interviews just like this one!! Well done all around!!!
Thank you! This was a true honor! Not only did I love him during the Elvis years but I love the way he laid down his own legacy with the Oak Ridge Boys!
Thank you Jay and Michael for another brilliant video. It’s fantastic to hear these stories about their life and Elvis’s part in it. Greatly appreciated.
What a wonderful interview. Such an awesome gift to spend 40+ minutes with someone sharing his life story and connections with iconic individuals like Elvis, Johnny Cash and incomparable JD Sumner. Thank you as always for sharing gentlemen. Deep respect and appreciation for what you do and are doing with your historic updates… ❤👌👏🙏
Love this interview. My wife worked at Trenton State college ( But it was the College of New Jersey when she worked their. And My Daughter Graduated from there. Very happy about this Connection . Great information here and thanks for getting this out to us .
Well, well, well, boy mah boy!!!! Wow, Wow, Wow, and a quadruple Wow for good measure 👏 What an absolutely downright sensationally, wonderfully splendid, swell, presentation you gentlemen have done here in every single aspect. I can't even begin to find the words to fully express just how much of an amazingly special, meaningfully exhilarating treat it was to see and hear Mr Richard Sterban sharing and recounting all of his experiences. I thoroughly and truly, deeply, sincerely love, love, love, everything you fellas bring within your channel 😀 May the Good Lord abundantly bless you and your loved ones, and I wholeheartedly wish you nothing but the very, very, best of things in all things.
Great interview, it's so rare to listen to someone show the respect to his peers. Most of them are so busy with stroking their own egos, I that you forget who the interview was all about. Thank you.
Awesome Interview!! I have been a huge fan of Richard and his marvelous voice for many years but I learned so much more from this Interview. I think I love Richard even more! JD has always fascinated me and what can I say about Elvis - Amazing! Richard really shared so much in this one! Thank you ! Thank you! ❤️
Grrrrreat interview! Better than I expected. What a great story teller Richard is. Thanks for inserting the parts where you'd see Richard in the old clips to get a glimpse of him. I always enjoy that. I know this was about Elvis, but something tells me I'm going to have the song Elvira in my head for the rest of the day! 😂
Great as always guys! Amazing the amount of people that were part of the Elvis world that have went on to be great in their own right. Love the Oak Ridge Boys!
What an fantastic interview. Thank you all so very much for sharing more wonderful Elvis insights. These guys that were around Elvis are just so down to earth, yet still part of the history of the greatest singer and performer the world has ever seen!
The cool thing about THAT version of Polk Salad Annie (Hampton 1972) is that Richard Sterban comes in early and sings the whole line "Polk Salad Annie, Gator's got your Granny!" The full audio isn't in the movie, it's only on the boxed set from last year. I think that's why Elvis made his comment.
Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing and so good to meet you guys at Marlowe’s during Elvis Week. Keep up the great job you do. Superb channel.
Fabulous addition to the Elvis canon. Sterban’s telling of his first meeting Elvis [unusually late for a rehearsal in Minneapolis in November, 1971, just prior to the start of another tour] is alone worth the trip! (12:50). Great work, Boys! Keep these valuable, historical Elvis posts coming! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 ⚡️🕺🏼⚡️ 🎙️🎸 💖 TcB🐻
OMG, This is great. This is a golden gem of an opportunity. The wonderful Richard Sterban and his lifelong extraordinary journey in music. So he's Rich from the MSG album!!! I'd known about this guy from On Tour but never made the connection. And always wondered about his whereabouts today. Thanks to you and your amazing channel, this great presentation now seals it all for me. Some On Tour scenes reveal how attentive Richard was to Elvis, as they all were really, but you'll notice Richard even looked for Elvis' approval after singing 'Sweet Sweet Spirit' on stage and during the 'I John' rehearsal clip. Just fabulous moments.
I only saw him once in 1997 but it truly reverberates around your inside. It’s something that you just don’t get listening to CD or records. I count myself lucky I had the opportunity 👍
Thank heavens - I can't wait to hear another Oaks album! I know Joe had to stop touring, but I really hope the Oaks can keep releasing albums for years to come!
Richard I know you are on your American Made Tour could you please come back to Branson one more time. I didn't get to go see you this past fall! I saw you in Branson several years ago with my husband! I would love to see you one more time besides Branson just loves you guys!😊❤
29:50 He received a phonecall while he was changing tires at the Galveston Tire dealership? That reminds me of those old Columbo episodes where the chief was always able to call the place where Columbo happen to be when he was out on the job somewhere.

Great interview. Truly we are losing these legends and have to get their stories out to the younger generation.

Has Richard ever been to England in the 1960s to the north of England, does he travel to different countries to play his music. All the best🤠
When will we see the concert venues in Niagara Falls New York specifically the comvention center?
We have visited that building, but it is now a casino. We’ll see if we have enough material
❤️❤️
If Charisma and Swag had a one night stand, they’d have Elvis 😂

Yes, in the clip with them singing around the piano you can see him wearing it.

Amazing head of hair for his age, if he dyed it he'd look as young as he did back then😮
