Still have mine too! Last time I saw Hawkwind was at the Lewisham Odeon, in 1980 with Ginger Baker on drums! Awesome gig. I also saw them in 1971 at Glastonbury Town Hall (support band: Pink Fairies). Hawkwind's original drummer onced gave me a lift when I was hitch-hiking...

The 707 has a hidden gem. The fuzz setting. (not comp/fuzz) just the fuzz. Put a compressor infront of it and then a joyo american sound amp sim, then bit of delay from another source. Pure amp meltdown and valves melting sound. Do not use amp sim - it sounds like a going through guttering. Will post settings if anyone interested.

I have 11 amps,Bins of pedals, and about 7 top modelers and I would love one of these things. It sounds huge ! ease of use, and that chorus was sweet lol. Can't believe it's 20 years old. Thanks for the demo ! The look on your face in the beginning was priceless. I was laughing my ass off.

Each preset can be set to be used into an amp or into a mixer. All it does is change the voicing of the amp SIM. Once you get the amp SIM set up correctly it makes a surprisingly decent DI.

I had this pedal when they first came out . I will tell y’all ! This is probably the most comparable pedal made . It had issues with the power plug cause it was made out of plastic and would break . After mine broke I had the AC plug replacement with a more sturdy one . After that it was all she wrote .. Awsome pedal !! If your a an avid player and like a lot of settings and want total control over your sound and tone , I definitely recommend this pedal !!!

Bought mine new in either 1999 or 2000, the compression, od-distortion and equalizer are analog, where the other effects are digital. Very easy to dial in a decent rock tone, still works fine to this day.

My first pedal was a Zoom 2020 and I upgraded that to one of these. Played many gigs with it in early 2000's using distortion, clean chorus and pedal as extra volume for solos. Some drunk dude in a bar stumbled onto it one night and damaged the cable input sadly but it was a good pedal.

I am still using my gfx 707. It has many presets, but you can set your own. I wouldn’t call it a holy grail of guitar sound, but this is a tool best to play 80’s and 90’s tunes. The first thing is that this is a hybrid device. Most important is an analog basic sound processor (compression, gain, distortion etc) and digital higher level processor (chorus, flange, tremolo) This was released in 2000, I bought it in 2002, so it’s still in use for almost 2 decades! All I had to replace is a power supply. All knobs, pedal everything else works just fine! If someone likes to play old rock, blues, jazz - this is a perfect and ultra bargain unit (some like £50 or less). By the way, users manual is still available on manufacturers website 😁
I found this video review accidentally looking for old reverb effects videos, and I liked it. Going to browse this channel.

For what this it’s the first in one of my chains. I’m just gonna say that you’d pretty much have one of everything important. The expression pedal is gold if you ever need one . Parameters might be somewhat limited but you’re sure to find a handful of useful stuff to keep on your sound palette. Plus you can add an fx chain to you choosing that will automatically raise the bar. I have also used this zoom as a voice processor and a keyboard tone bank extension. The only down side I’ve found is the you will kick the cords and screw up the soldering of the input/output jack ins on the motherboard which you can fix but don’t trip on the cords too many times. The looper is very limited but works well for messing around.
I refuse to replace it with any other mutlt effects pedal to date knowing it plays well with other specialty pedals.

Been watching several ZOOM pedal reviews, some old, some older and even some filmed just a few months ago - and not one single person even bothered to read the manuals to these things. I mean, how can anybody make a truly accurate review of this gear if they don't even know how to operate it? No wonder lots of people give these pedals unfairly negative (imho) reviews - they don't even know what the things are truly capable of.
(You can find manuals to download on the ZOOM website for most, if not all their older gen pedals)

I wish mine still worked. We had a freak storm and a tornado ripped off half of the roof, and then rain was pouring in the house.
Unfortunately my gfx 707 got soaked and was actually sitting in water. I let it dry thoroughly and cleaned the board. But it's beyond repair. The board would have to be replaced and they said they don't support that model anymore.
My 35 year old USA Peavey amp was sitting in water also, the electronics was ok, but the bottom piece and the sides up to about 4 inches, since it's particle board, soaked up the water, swelled up and turned to mush, and just loose particles. So I decided to make an entirely new cabinet, and with new textured vinyl, and also replaced the speakers with new and better speakers. It's looking like new and works perfectly. And just for the future in case it had to be fixed, I emailed Peavey and they sent me the schematics for it.
Its great to have equipment with discrete components, it makes it easy to repair down to the component level, rather than the surface mount components that almost everything has nowadays, and you have to replace the bosrd(s). Plus most people don't know how to work with SMD (surface mount devices) and cause more damage trying to fix it, especially if you don't have the proper tools.

I got mine about 20 years ago, off eBay for about £20 and it's still going strong, apart from some crackly knobs and sockets. I never much liked the factory presets, but it makes some great sounds with a bit of tweaking. It seems complicated to tweak. I always forget how to do it after leaving it alone for a while. I'm looking for something that's much easier to configure, but with similar capabilities.

I still go back to the Zoom 707 alot. Once you get it dialed in to your taste you will like it. I have recorded with it and it will work as long as you don't overdrive the preamps. Just be sure to keep the gain down if recording. I used this live into two amps with an aby switch box and it worked fantastic. It does take some tweaking to get it just right. Get one without paint all over it, as far as multieffects unit's go that's one of the best tone shape and most every effect is in the box, even a 6 second looper. it's mid-late 90s era. The manual is still online as a free PDF there is even a custom patch database. Before dedicated acoustic effects lots of players bought these and customized the settings for a show renaming each patch for different songs or guitars. I took an old acoustic with crappy pickups and made a whole section of individual patches using the acoustic simulator to enhance to the acoustic tone of the harsh UST pickup even patches emulating 12 string, harp, upright bass and cello. Hendrix bigmuff wah, Page's overdrive w/ delay effects. The different amp sims work and sound fantastic and can be dedicated along with the patch. Only issue is the damn plastic jack plugs have to be re-soldered all the time

I've got one somewhere...loved it when I got it but my original one (and subsequent replacement) had the 9v adapter input go dodgy so I sadly stopped using it - I think using this in conjunction with the distortion or fuzz pedal of your choice is key to being able to call this a good pedal (that many people slag off Zoom's distortion it's a bit unfair...try tweaking that amp sim knob or get a better distortion if you don't like it ;-) )

About to pick up one of these that I found for $25 on Craigslist. Super excited to play around with it because for that price I couldn’t pass up. I’m super into fucked up guitar tones, so I can’t wait to find out what I can make.

I've got one of these in the original box with original paperwork. Bought it brand new back in the 90s. I would sell it if anyone is interested. I remember it was $170 brand new from Musicians Friend.

I've had mine 20 years , 2nd hand for 25 quid I think - everything about it is horrible, there isn't a vaguely usable sound from it, but it was very cheap

It actually doesn’t sound terribly awful. It has its own thing going on even though it claims to model amps.
