I've still got mine. Had it all professionally gone through, all the connections resoldered etc. There are just some sounds in that thing I can't get anywhere else!
I remember really falling in love with the room reverb on it. Eq was frustrating, distortion only good enough for practice the mods aren't bad though and I'm not picky or over reliant on delay.. So I feel ya!
505 is the most portable multi FX rig I carry around specially during christmas time to do back to back to back gigs wherein setup time is essentially not a luxury. 2 cables, an adapter, then rock n roll. Congratulations on the 100K YT channel subscribers.
I bought this effects pedal 25 years ago. Played it for about a year then put it back in its box in the attic which is where it stayed until 1 week ago. Just got it back out and started to use it again. Mine is immaculate still in its box and still with all its instructions 😏😎💁🏻♂️
My first multi-fx. Hooked-up on Zoom products eversince by upgrading to 707 and after a while to G2.1u. After forced selling G2.1u and many years after, I bought a 2nd hand Zoom G1Next. I recall Zoom multi-effects as sounding awesome (recently bought the G2.1u which is priced very low these days). Being on topic, I will not forget the one gig where I used the Zoom 505. I edited a patch on the spot before our last song (Play That Funky Music) and recall using an overdrive patch with high gain. I was using humbuckers on my guitar and used the volume control to switch between twangy clean tones to sweet crunchy overdrive. I think I was using a Fender Princeton amp. Up to now, I still can't get over that sweet, sweet tone from a humble multi-fx unit!
I had one of these forever ago and I swore by it. I even did alot of recordings with it that I think still sound good (granted I used an outboard EQ for it most of the time) so I think it's a underrated gem.
If I remember it correctly this was my first multi-effects pedal. Really easy to use just plug and play (rambo kung rambo lol) and you can just bring it anywhere. I love how the modulations sounded. I had lots of great memories with this pedal just had to sold it because I bought a korg ax1500g.
I love the distortion sound of this zoom 505..i still have one of this i have zoom 606 i never sell it since the distortion sound of it is very vintage and you cant find it to any multi fx nowadays.. Thanks sir perf for this video..
Just gotten my original one back after ~15 years. Tweaking it as I’m writing this. I’m gonna do club gigs with it, since I’m only a 2nd guitarist in my band and I think I’ll get away with going crazy with the settings in the background. This pedal was a life saver for us in the late 90s - early 00’s.
Im still using my 12years old Zoom G2 in our church service. Though the "effect type" changer button is not working anymore, most of my existing patches works well
Was my first multi FX. Some of the distortions weren't bad. And I played live with it. Being able to play through any amp and get your sound was important.
I used to use one of these for church, usually straight into the mixer 🤣 I mostly used 3 patches which were slightly edited versions of the factory C1, C2 and C3 patches. Which was a crunchy tone,, a clean tone with light chorus, and a lead tone.
Sir, ito yung kinaiiinggitan namin back in high school. When i got my first job, i bought an electric guitar, and a Zoom G1Xn. Pretty great effects pedal, donated it to church when I have to move out of the province. Great content Maestro!
My first processor ever, was the Zoom 707 II. Loved it. I currently own the MS 70 CDR, which has definitely come a long way since then, and is quite a workhorse.
I used to have one...many moons ago...this vid is a great blast from the past for me! ....I remember listening to some of your playing back in the early 2000's.... Downloaded from limewire...lol... Sounded amazing then. Glad I came across your channel! Great video!
I used to have one and I had the zoom FP01 expression pedal plugged into it for wah, harmonizer, whammy and volume. My setup was: A1 lead with wah, A2 metal with whammy, A3 lead with harmonizer and A4 lead with chorus & delay. I generally kept all other patches as is but did experiment with them in terms of what I could use the sounds for. The factory setting for F6 was acoustic but it didn't really sound like an acoustic guitar to me so I used it as a warmer clean tone when I wanted something nicer than bypassing to the amp by pressing the 2 pedals at the same time. The tuner in bypass was very handy.
Bro Perf, meron din akong ganito nung late 90's tapos Zoom 504 naman pang acoustic noong early 2000s. This brings back a lot of good old memories. ang gaan dalhin. salamat sa pag feature nito. Thank you!
Yeah!I've still got that one but the input jack got screwed up and I need to get in there and solder it better. It had the million bees distortion sound like a Boss pedal !
I use a Zoom GFX-1 for everything and I still love it after all these years. I think a lot of people expect these to sound awesome out of the box without reading the manual, but with some tweaking they can sound awesome.
I owned one, bought it when my Boss pedals were stolen and I needed a quick replacement. There always was a little hiss in the signal (even in bypass) that you couldn't get rid of, not even with the noise gate. But me and my bandmates were blown away at that time how good it sounded for the money, I've used it on a lot of gigs and even CD recording sessions. It also had a great preset that sounded a lot like steel drums, you should check if it's still on yours (otherwise it should be back if you'd do a factory reset). I've owned many Zoom multi fx through the years (the 9000 was my first one), but in my opinion, their latest G1X Four is their best one ever, I love it almost as much as my HX Stomp. The Zoom Multi Stomps are brilliant too.
I remember around 94 the guitar stores sold a Squire Fender Strat with a Fender practice amp -chord- a few pics- Tuner and a Zoom 505 for $299 Christmas 🎄🎁
OMG!!! Used one way back in high school, my first multifx i bought with my money...use it almost everywhere when playing live with my high school band...but i didnt remember or know it has amp and cab sim...Is s nostalgic
My first legitimate guitar multi-effects pedal that I bought from saving up was a Zoom G21.U, still being used today. Suits my needs, from RATM to Slayer. My uncle has the successor of that pedal, the Zoom 606,and is still functional today.
Owned a silver one way back 2004, and a black one 6 years back, its amazing, not to mention, i did own a 606 ,g1xn and g2r. Gfx5 too. At different times.hehe Zoom keeps getting better.
Still have mine like new and stored in original box when not used, even still have the fold out instruction map (really its about 2 feet by 3 feet when unfolded) and original power cord, its killer still and has one of the best acoustic simulators around.
Got the 505 for £10 in a pawn shop. There are some good sounds on it 1. Overdrive - you can have say 3 patches of gain: 10,18,30. Josh from JHS pedals used it without saying what it was, and viewers asked him what the OD sound was. Then he revealed it was a 505. If it sounds good, it is good. EQ at 24 seems good. 2. The Blues is OK as well. The distortion, metal and lead I didn't like the sound. The Fuzz is ok but have a separate EQ pedal after to boost the mids. The good thing is if you have it in the middle of other pedals it blends well. Some multi units change everything. F3 flange is ok and the chorus' ain't that bad. Reverb was ok as well. The boss ME5 was around before this in about 1988?? I had one. The 505 was the sub £100 unit.
Remembering the days when I was playing song from staind. I just borrowed it from one of the guitarist from the other band. Never had a chance to tweak it since we’re in a rush that time. I just ask the guy, where’s the hi gain and the clean tone. So just up and down. I think the sound was good for a beginner like me during that time. As long as it has a hi gain, it rocks. LOL haha. It saves the day 🤣🤣🤣
First multi efx na nagamit ko, used it on live gigs, Zoom G1XOn. Hinihiram ko lang din yun hehe halos lahat ng nalalaman ko sa guitar effects eh dun ko na nakuha. Stompboxes na gamit ko ngayon at pinag iiponan ko na, Zoom MS50G.
Having an extended vacation here in Japan and I've been teaching my nephew play guitar. We went hunting for effect pedals at the recycle shops here a month ago and found what i think is the successor to that model, the zoom 505ii. If he didn't buy it, I would've bought it myself (tho I prefer one that has a wah pedal) because it was so cheap. Now I'm looking at this toneworks ax1000g which is more than double the price. I'm also hesitating because it's humonguos and will take a lot of space in my luggage. Perhaps I'll wait and maybe find another zoom pedal or line 6
Nice, classic zoom! I just bought the red Korg G1 guitar processor months ago, tried it and my ears can’t bear the noise anymore lol 😂 it means I’ve gotten old, I used to love that especially Diamond Darrell is among the featured player back then.
I wish I'd never sold mine, my main complaint was battery life and noise, but man did it have some serious headroom for gigs, my most favorite sound was the blues overdrive, I used a remote bank switch too, I bought mine when they first came out for £99 with my £100 Christmas bonus, Great memories of gigs with my boogie 22+, thanks great video
I used zoom 505 a lot until it got broke in the mid 2000s. I'll never forget this FX coz i used this when we played as front acts to Wolfgang,Razorback, Siakol and other local bands but never Rivermaya.hahaha.. Honestly,i was approached by one of the scouts of Rivermaya in the early 2000s to try the band but it didnt materialize. And you sir, is one of the best guys if not the best in the Philippines. Kudos and hats off to you Perf! Btw, they say we look a bit alike.hahaha.. this account is my ukulele channel. I just started it coz i find it fun.hehe..
My first guitar multi effects. Ive been using it for more than 6years in gigs. Hanggang ngayon, buhay parin pero naka store na sa baul. 😂 It brings back memories. Thanks for sharing 👍
i still have my old and trusty zoom 506 linked with a couple of some stomp boxes and a wah pedal for my bass, though i no longer use it. but it is still functional and 100% working.
Thanks, Perfecto for the reminding us. I remember wishing that I had this unit way back in 96. I opened my Guitar World Magazine (I think that was October 96 issue) and this multi-effect system was the first one that I got interested in. I own three of its successors in my collection now, the 505II, 506II and another 505II that a friend gave me about a couple of months ago. I'm retiring my first 505II because it has been my workhorse since 1999 when I bough it. I still have the desires and hopes to have an original ZOOM 505. I have found some sellers though but what they have are in really bad condish. Thanks again for sharing.
I remember what I liked about this vs the boss stuff out at the time when you put that chorus on. It doesn't impart a ton of compression to the signal. The pitch shifter almost makes it worth the price in 2020!
I've had a couple of multi effects units including this one back in the day. My god I loved it until I hated it. LMAO. Wasn't so much the quality of tone. I just got jealous of guys with tons of pedals. I WANTED PEDALS!! :D Played it through my Peavey Studio Pro 112 with trans tube technology. Oh the 90's. LOL.
This was the first effect i ever had... At the time it was great for me and allowed me to practice through headphones and not wake up my parents... lol...
Zoom 1010 during the 90s pero hiram lng hehehe. Tapos may nagpatuling setup ng zoom G1 at Zoom G2. Ngayon ang gamit ko Zoom G1xOn bought it around 2015 ata. Cheers Sir Perf for sharing this video. Good old memories during the 90s
I have a 505 AND a 505-II, both of which had circuit board issues which prompted me to teach myself how to fix them like I taught myself to play guitar
I owned this exact one. Its easy to go back to the regular presets by accident, distortion tones weren't the best, and there was a delay on cutting the pedal to bypass....but good effects like tremolo, flange, and phasers. I would cut off the distortion and just use the effects. A2 was an awesome patch.
Bought a 505 back in the day, because you recommended it in an email exchange we had in the late 90's (Edsamail days)
Edsamail!
Cool
I've still got mine. Had it all professionally gone through, all the connections resoldered etc. There are just some sounds in that thing I can't get anywhere else!
I still have mine. 👍
I still have mine
I remember really falling in love with the room reverb on it. Eq was frustrating, distortion only good enough for practice the mods aren't bad though and I'm not picky or over reliant on delay.. So I feel ya!

I own a zoom606 and I still use it. Ito lang kasi afford ng budget. Rock what we have guys :)

YES! the Zoom505 was my chit! still own it and it still works!
This was my first effects pedal when I first started playing guitar. What a trip down memory lane.
Just dug mine out of storage! First Pedal I ever bought in 1995. Still have the box and instructions! 🤟 Rock on!!
He has the box!
these explains why the factory preset patches when i had my 505 back in the days sounded like rivermaya hahahahaha...
Mind blowing this still is nice to listen to in 2024.
Yes I have zoom 505 until now. It’s perfect, seem brand new . I’m from Brazil.
My first multi-fx. Hooked-up on Zoom products eversince by upgrading to 707 and after a while to G2.1u. After forced selling G2.1u and many years after, I bought a 2nd hand Zoom G1Next. Up to now, I still can't get over that sweet, sweet tone from a humble multi-fx unit!
I had a 505 also in the 90s , Zoom does have a instantly recognizable sound, yours brought back memories.
My father's zoom 505 was handed down to me and it still works. Tuner is kinda busted though but i still use it, i like the general sound it produces
I had one of these forever ago and I swore by it. I even did alot of recordings with it that I think still sound good (granted I used an outboard EQ for it most of the time) so I think it's a underrated gem.
My first multifx unit, after I had bought a PSK super metal pedal, back in 95-96... What a throwback man!!!
If I remember it correctly this was my first multi-effects pedal. Really easy to use just plug and play (rambo kung rambo lol) and you can just bring it anywhere. I love how the modulations sounded. I had lots of great memories with this pedal just had to sold it because I bought a korg ax1500g.
Ael parehas tayo! First multifx pedal ko rin itong ginamit :)
Bought my 505 20 + years ago, still have it, still works and still play with it now and then :)
I love the distortion sound of this zoom 505..i still have one of this i have zoom 606 i never sell it since the distortion sound of it is very vintage and you cant find it to any multi fx nowadays.. Thanks sir perf for this video..

I remember this pedal. My friend had it. I actually had the zoom 1010. Great times!
I have one and it still works, love the video, I am going to get it out right and play through it!
Im still using my 12years old Zoom G2 in our church service.

I love this pedal, only physical multi fx that I ever played with.
Glad to hear, I owned one years ago and just ordered one on ebay for old time sake
Appreciate this review. Reminds me of my Zoom 606 days. Showing an old multifx can still be kick ass. Great job Perf!
Sir, ito yung kinaiiinggitan namin back in high school. When i got my first job, i bought an electric guitar, and a Zoom G1Xn. Pretty great effects pedal, donated it to church when I have to move out of the province. Great content Maestro!
I have my Zoom G1X since 2008 and still working. Still kicking ass!
Zoom G1X user since 2007! 😁
Me I start :) since 2016 but it's still monster :)
mee tooo mann hahahahhaa stilll kikin an asss😂🤣😂😂
I still have my Zoom G1XNext...bought it 2007 and still rockin....
My first processor ever, was the Zoom 707 II. Loved it. I currently own the MS 70 CDR, which has definitely come a long way since then, and is quite a workhorse.
zoom 505 classic! had one around '98-2003. Nostalgic!
I still have mine along with the G1, G2G, G9.2tt, and the G1Xon. Thanks for the video. Took me waaaaay back.
Got my 505 back 1997. Still have to this day. Discovered cool sounds i could produced. I still remember buying it at musar in baguio city. 2500php.
I still have my 707, straightforward and still awesome in a studio situation.
Zoom 505, my first multi effect pedal! That was some 20 year ago.. then I upgraded to 707 II a few years later haha
I used to have one...many moons ago...this vid is a great blast from the past for me! ....I remember listening to some of your playing back in the early 2000's.... Downloaded from limewire...lol... Sounded amazing then. Glad I came across your channel! Great video!

That's exactly the same Zoom effects we used to have in the Church in Early 2000.Its delay effects is awesome.
Haha the memories when you showed it. I shared a flat '97 - '98. I had a Zoom 1010 and the other guy had a 505
I own a ZOOM 606 master Perf! And i still have it here in the US, i’ll bring it with me and still works great 👍👍👍
But now i own a BOSS ME-80
Bro Perf, meron din akong ganito nung late 90's tapos Zoom 504 naman pang acoustic noong early 2000s. This brings back a lot of good old memories. ang gaan dalhin. salamat sa pag feature nito. Thank you!
i had the walkman-like zoom with the wired remote back in the early 90s. i loved that thing!
Yeah!I've still got that one but the input jack got screwed up and I need to get in there and solder it better. It had the million bees distortion sound like a Boss pedal !
sounds excellent... running a 9030 from the 80`s... and i`ll never need anything else
I use a Zoom GFX-1 for everything and I still love it after all these years. I think a lot of people expect these to sound awesome out of the box without reading the manual, but with some tweaking they can sound awesome.
I owned one and bought my bandmate one too and na "estafa" sa kanya. We had fun jamming with this inexpensive multi fx
OMG!!! Used one way back in high school, my first multifx i bought with my money...use it almost everywhere when playing live with my high school band...but i didnt remember or know it has amp and cab sim...Is s nostalgic
I've been using that gadget in our church. Didn't have a manual for it and didn't know you can change the preset. Thanks Sir Perf!
I knew it. I also used this back in the days and i found ELESI effects only from this unit.
Zoom was one of the few that set the benchmark for todays Multi-FX pedals, period.🤟😁🤟
My first legitimate guitar multi-effects pedal that I bought from saving up was a Zoom G21.U, still being used today. Suits my needs, from RATM to Slayer. My uncle has the successor of that pedal, the Zoom 606,and is still functional today.
I'm currently using Zoom G5n. Great value for its price!
Have you tried the Mooer GE200?
Owned a silver one way back 2004, and a black one 6 years back, its amazing, not to mention, i did own a 606 ,g1xn and g2r. Gfx5 too. At different times.hehe
Zoom keeps getting better.
I have my zoom g1 for 10 yrs. Its still my gagdet i use until today
Had this as well then upgraded to the zoom 8080. Loved both
Still have mine like new and stored in original box when not used, even still have the fold out instruction map (really its about 2 feet by 3 feet when unfolded) and original power cord, its killer still and has one of the best acoustic simulators around.
Got the 505 for £10 in a pawn shop. There are some good sounds on it
Had the ME5 as well, that sounded more processed than the 505, IIRC
Zoom g1xon since 2014 nice sounding effect sir specially for church rig
I have a Zoom 607 bass pedal I bought used from Facebook for 60$, love the thing to death! Looks so old-school
I still have mine as well and still love it. No amp required for headphone practice and sounds great
Having an extended vacation here in Japan and I've been teaching my nephew play guitar. We went hunting for effect pedals at the recycle shops here a month ago and found what i think is the successor to that model, the zoom 505ii. Wow! I have this for years and never thought there's a built-in CAB/AMP SIM on it.
My local store stocked the 505 but I had them bring in the 2020... Ohhhhh yea! :)
I had this pedal! My friend had the bass version! Good video!
Nostalgic guitar processor.i had once a zoom 707
Nice, classic zoom! I just bought the red Korg G1 guitar processor months ago, tried it and my ears can’t bear the noise anymore lol 😂 it means I’ve gotten old, I used to love that especially Diamond Darrell is among the featured player back then.
I have my zoom G1xn since 2007, super durable for its cheap price.
I also have a ZOOM G1x since the 2000's too
Zoom g5 owner here! I’m upgrading to a headrush very soon
Your smile and laugh says it all
My first multi effects zoom 505. Hahaha. Happy to see that you used it before sir Perf.
505 was my first multi effects, followed by the 707. Loved them.
I wish I'd never sold mine, my main complaint was battery life and noise, but man did it have some serious headroom for gigs, my most favorite sound was the blues overdrive, I used a remote bank switch too, I bought mine when they first came out for £99 with my £100 Christmas bonus,

Meron ako nung version 2.0 niyan Maestro. More effects but simpler aesthetics. Kaya lower price tag. Bought it 2005. Astig yung tones.
My first guitar multi effects. Ive been using it for more than 6years in gigs. Hanggang ngayon, buhay parin pero naka store na sa baul. 😂 It brings back memories. Thanks for sharing 👍
I use Zoom G2.1u. Great sound. I used it mostly in church ministry.
i still have my old and trusty zoom 506 linked with a couple of some stomp boxes and a wah pedal for my bass, though i no longer use it. but it is still functional and 100% working.

Oh the memories.... I'm crying... The late 90's... I
I've had a couple of multi effects units including this one back in the day. My god I loved it until I hated it. LMAO. Wasn't so much the quality of tone. I just got jealous of guys with tons of pedals. I WANTED PEDALS!! :D
Played it through my Peavey Studio Pro 112 with trans tube technology. Oh the 90's. LOL.
What a throwback bro!!! I used to use a 505 and a 509 with a Morley aby switch and a 1010 in the FX loop!!
This was the first effect i ever had... At the time it was great for me and allowed me to practice through headphones and not wake up my parents... lol...
My first digital efx as well. Couldn’t go wrong with this.😎
Zoom 1010 during the 90s pero hiram lng hehehe. Tapos may nagpatuling setup ng zoom G1 at Zoom G2. Ngayon ang gamit ko Zoom G1xOn bought it around 2015 ata. Cheers Sir Perf for sharing this video. Good old memories during the 90s
God damn so nostalgia... Back then was a kid can't effort these effects had to burrow from Rich man son...
I used and abused the 506 bass version, it was so hot and unique and I got compliments on my sound both in studio and live gigs! 🔥
My bass player at the time used that, too
Still have one. Just started using it again!
I have my zoom 707-1 since 1998 still working,and now i have a Boss Me-80
I have a 505 AND a 505-II, both of which had circuit board issues which prompted me to teach myself how to fix them like I taught myself to play guitar
i wish of guitar banter between you and rj ronquillo... that will be a treat :D
this should be pinned.
I owned a zoom 505 as well and a zoom g1x..best ever!!
This was my first back in '98, then I got the 707. I wish I still had it honestly, you got me all nostalgic mate. 😂
I used to love that pedal! My first pedal effect was one of those and I loved it! ❤️🤘
