His reaction in the morning was because last time Eris left him in the morning and when sylphie was not there in the morning he was little bit frightened

The subconscious fear that it might happen again is also the reason for his 'problem'

that "little bit" was very generous of you, had Sylphie not have been there right after that, the guy would have a huge relapse, with Sylphie reinforcing that women would always leave him. Good for them that never happened and they ended up marrying instead.

It's literally the whole reason he got ED and we have this whole arc :|

I think an angle many people don't think about is that there's more than the usual implications of a marital bond in Rudeus taking Sylphy as his wife going on. Rudeus inadvertently elevated Sylphy to nobility.
Even if he's stripped of inheritance and titles, he's still of noble blood from two countries, and so taking on a spouse would make her the same status.
In the book even Ariel was surprised to the point of cracking her composure, much to Rudeus' confusion. After all, if you deflower a maiden, you're supposed to take responsibility and marry her, obviously. At least that's what an otaku has repeatedly seen in games and read in books, after all. It seems Asuran nobility don't see it as the obvious choice. They might've expected him to take her as a mistress or concubine and thus look after her financial wellbeing and safety. Her becoming his wife elevates her from the common folk to nobility in one swoop.
For her part, Ariel was pleased with Rudeus' choice, since he's been cultivating a reputation of egalitarianism, despite people being afraid of his strength and antics.
Rudeus pledging his fidelity to Sylphy was indeed the first thing he did after properly waking up that morning in the LN. That and cutting that stained part of the cloth to be his second Relic in the shrine. Him declaring his intent to marry is the crystallization of that determination.
Looking forward to Cour 2 reactions!

Rudeus didn't wake up just with a hangover, but soul-crushing guilt. He felt he was worse that night than with Eris. He was unleashed on Sylphy, and reminiscing about it as he woke up made him feel as if he'd done something terrible to her, being completely inconsiderate of her during the act. He thought he'd scared her away, much as he'd (in his own mind) disappointed or disgusted Eris.
Thing is, she actually enjoyed it to the point of wanting a repeat later. In the LN she was next to him as he woke up, having woken herself but a few minutes before. I think the way the anime did it made us feel Rudeus' anxiety better than a narration and her being gone heightened the emotional charge of the scene; her coming back was greater catharsis.

The amount of people who think Slyphie would just drug Rudeus is astounding, especially as Slyphie says she has the bottle in her jacket before entering his room.

This part of the light novel was painful, tbh. Claustrophobic is probably the best way to describe it. Rudy stopped adventuring, scared of making friends, scared if women, always courting death. Finally finding sylphie felt like going out of his room again for the first time. That would have been with Eris but that bonehead is just so...!!! Ugh

The reason why Rudeus had such a strong reaction to Sylphie coming back the morning after they did the deed, was that he couldn't help but remember how Eris had left him in morning and didn't come back. He genuinely thought that Sylphie had ran away too. The fact that she then did come back essentially cured him of the remnants of his ED.

One thing I wonder about is playful foreshadowing. Back when he was living in Eris's home and he and Sauros looked up at the light in the sky, he prayed "may girls fall from the sky." And, well, that happened with Sylphie! And there's a bit where Elinalise and Roxy are chatting about guys, and Roxy says her dream is to meet a handsome youth in a dungeon who will save her in a dungeon. Well, we know that Zenith is imprisoned in a labyrinth, and Roxy is one of those of those going there... Will she get into trouble and meet someone (Rudy? someone else?) save her? Also, besides the hanging plot threads about Ariel and Zenith and whether or not Sylphie will go with him (she is supposed to be the second-strongest mage at the school after Rudy, so she'd not be a burden, I expect, plus she loved Zenith too, so she might want to go with him!) there is the whole question of Nanahoshi and her experiments. Will Rudy want to risk upsetting her (and perhaps Orstead) by leaving before he's finished helping her as he promised?

Roxy should've been more specific with her dream.
      Spoiler...
She should've specified taking a bath before meeting his dream boi. 🤣

@@ElyonDominus Yeah. Also, "playful" may not be an apt term. I don't imagine Sylphy would call the experience "playful" in any way. Neither would Roxy, probably. Definitely not Banana either. It's Rifujin. Be very careful of what you wish for. 🤣

The morning scene in the LN was so much more fitting. Sylphie not being there when Rudeus wakes up kinda goes against the whole point of the scene.

    • @84C4
      @84C4 7 месяцев назад

I agree that it was done better in the LN, but to be honest it is a bit silly that he didn't just feel her by his side right away, so I guess they tried to make it a bit more believable by having her leave for a bit.

    • @fehervari98

@@84C4 Fair enough, although I'm not sure one usually would immediately be aware of their own surroundings in the morning right after a long night of drinking and drugged up, feverish action. Especially if someone is preoccupied with their own thoughts.

The problem with her being in bed with him when he wakes up is it's easy to insert that moment of fear and worry into a written story as you can fit as much text as you want into that tiny moment between him waking up and checking to see if she's there. The anime needs to SHOW what Rudy is feeling not tell us what he's feeling and her not being there gives the anime the minute it needs to display his concern to the viewer and she shows up immediately after they convey what they needed to. The show needs to make changes otherwise some scenes just don't work.
