And before he died, Phillip asked him a serious question "But what IS the treasure?"
My mother used to play this to me as a kid. I used to love it actually, probably because I had no concept of logic, reason, consequence or any type of standards, just like this movie. I still find it really entertaining though

Antonio Hernandez It’s not as good as something like Spirited Away, which beat Treasure Planet for Best Animated Feature, but it has some charm with great visuals, even if the cgi is kinda dated, fun characters, an amazing score, threatening moments, and some touching ones.
This is like the polar opposite of "Yellow Submarine," where the surreal animation is done for mere nonsense rather than creating a lively and charming world. I'll admit, making the treasure some variation of Noah's Ark is creative, but that's not enough to save a mess like this. Also, what was with that random Mickey Mouse cameo?
There is only one reputation that this can have with me; this movie is so bizzare that it becomes entertaining. Why do a lot of the story elements end up being big lipped alligator moments? Why does the animation look more janky than South Park? Why are all the characters given practically the same color palette? Why the fridge is this a thing?? I don't care; it's that same psychotic cinematography that I mentioned that I find hilarious!

The Treasure Planet is what happens when aliens come to Earth, only watch two movies: Fantastic Planet and Pink Floyd's The Wall, hear the story of Treasure Island from someone who read a CliffNotes version of it in junior high school once to make up for the fact that he didn't actually read it like he was supposed to, then asked a bunch of 7 year olds who are trying this new thing called "animation" for the first time to make a movie for them. I don't know too many Bulgarians, but I have a feeling the vast majority of them are more intelligent and talented in the arts than to conceive something like that.

They must have spent the majority of theor budget onnthe naked lady scene and the Ode To Joy scene with Mickey Mouse to add more calm and fluid animation, compaired to the epilectic fit that we had to sit through. Plus, considering that you watched an English dub, the musical number with shipmates 2, 3 and 4 is still sung in Bulgarian. That shows how much of a small budget hey had at the time.

The Disney movie IS good! The only people who wouldn’t think so are the people who didn’t see the movie, saw the box office numbers were low and assumed that meant forgettable, when in reality, Disney sabotaged the success of a passion project from two of their most talented writers who had previously made them several hits for over the last decade prior. And I guess the people who just hate space and/or pirates. Disney’s Treasure Planet is easily the best adaptation of Treasure Island, bar none, and nobody is ever going to change my mind.

This movie. Oh, this movie. If we can even call it a movie. This is a nightmare! No, even nightmares are more enjoyable, this animated garbage is Hell itself! It starts incredibly bizarre but honestly not all that bad, the Looney Tunes-esque chase sequence where they casually hold a lit bomb and they deliver a literal black spot is kinda funny, but from there the movie descends into absolute incomprehensible madness. Even the plot of Tentacolino made more sense, and that's saying something! The most bizarre and strange scene is where they break into some sorta senseless opera for several minutes straight to (I guess) defeat some lava birds with looped animation. Seriously, even a drunk person would be like, "What did I just watch!?" And as if that scene wasn't weird and janky enough, we then get those nightmarish hallucinations such as arm-chopped-off Medusa and those, those, uh, frog lady sirens with big bottoms and b00bs. Ugh! And then we get the racist band and Mickey fricking Mouse parachuting down to Earth!? Just, seriously, what is this movie? What Hell is made of. It can't be anything else, and I can't believe I wasted my time writing this.
I'd say it's more like a cosmic horror distilled in an animated movie. It's just as outlandish and madness inducing as coming into contact with an entity from one of Lovecraft's stories, just that you don't have to fiddle around with some artifacts in order get into arm's reach of this film.

The most bizarre and strange scene is where they break into some sorta senseless opera for several minutes straight to (I guess) defeat some lava birds with looped animation. Seriously, even a drunk person would be like, "What did I just watch!?" And as if that scene wasn't weird and janky enough, we then get those nightmarish hallucinations such as arm-chopped-off Medusa and those, those, uh, frog lady sirens with big bottoms and b00bs. Ugh! And then we get the racist band and Mickey fricking Mouse parachuting down to Earth!? Just, seriously, what is this movie? What Hell is made of. It can't be anything else, and I can't believe I wasted my time writing this.
I'd say it's more like a cosmic horror distilled in an animated movie. It's just as outlandish and madness inducing as coming into contact with an entity from one of Lovecraft's stories, just that you don't have to fiddle around with some artifacts in order get into arm's reach of this film.
