How to Make the Meat filling for Dumplings (Mandu)

- In this video I show you how to make famed Korean Chef Beak Jongwon's delcious and easy pork filling recipe for dumplings (mandu).
This pork filling was so easy to make and really, really, really delicious! It'd probably be very good just simply topped on a bed of rice, no need to make dumplings if your just in for a good meal.
If you have the time let it cool down for a few hours or even put it in the fridge and pull it out the next day. Once the meat is cold you will see that the juices of the meat/sauce will all congeal which will allow you a little easier experience making the dumplings and plus it will keep a lot of moisture in the dumpling. The congealed liquids will loosen up upon cooking and the insides of the dumplings will be super juicy and delicious.
Oh you know what! It's early in the year, have you made Korean New Years Soup? These dumplings would be perfect for a little Dduk mandu soup action, if you know what I mean!

2 cups green onions
2 cups beef/pork
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp ginger
3 tbs soy sauce
1 tbs oyster sauce
2 tbs plant oil
1 cup water
Mix
Heat on high, cook the mixture, keep mixing. Cook for 5mins

Of don't find oyster sauce what can I use?
I used teriyaki Barbaque and goes great but I get confused and use lot of meat 🙈🤣🤣🤣🍽️any way it was delicious thanks to help us with ingredients. Greetings from Italy 🇮🇹❤️
I did exactly that with the ginger, the skin is good for you, you won't even taste it! Even when I added carrots to mine too, its all good for you so I left it all on.
Dumplings are one of my favourite things to make, and I like to take time folding my home made wrappers nicely too.
As is said elsewhere here, great normal presence, real refreshing. Keep being yourself, its a breath of fresh air!

These are delicious. I made a massive batch of these dumplings a few months back and freezed them. I had a little left over meat mixture so I made pork ball soup to go with.
Is it good after being frozen?
Do you just throw the balls into the broth? Or is it fried prior? I'm curious
@@patriciaf.v.8889 Yes they taste like the day I made them four months in. I olny suggest you pre freez them on a baking sheet for a few hours then place them into a freezer bag or storage container. It help minimizes the dumplingd sticking together.
@@ILoveLLawlietxD I drop the pork balls stright into the broth either single serving soups or for hotpots with frineds and I will pan fry a few for some quick lettuce wraps. I am making another big batch today and so worth the time.

Haven't seen you till now??? Glad I saw this. I found a recipe on how to make pork dumplings. Tried it but added ingredients a bit differently. Found out you don't need chopsticks 🥢 to mix to get the smoothness of the pork. I used my hands. Hurray!!! Juicy and delicious. My family will not buy outside dumplings anymore.

Thank you for this video. My mom's mandu recipe uses kimchi and tofu. My bf doesn't like kimchi or tofu or cabbage. So I needed a new filling recipe. I made cheeseburger mandu once, it was interesting and he liked it.

@@ILoveLLawlietxD I mixed ground beef, onion, salt, pepper, and shredded cheese as my filling. It worked pretty good.
Lol he always says don't ask me 🤣 but if we've doubts🙈 anyway I didn't find the oyster sauce instead use teriyaki Barbaque, my family love it. I didn't use flour for dumplings I used egg blaster and was great easy and delicious. Thanks again for this great recipe and greetings from Italy🇮🇹❤️

Yeah I think it'll be soooooooo much better to fill the dumplings with the raw mixture and then cook them. The main part of a dumpling is the broth INSIDE the dumping, not on the pan.

yup you can just stuff the wrappers raw and steam em as well!

Hi Donald, Id use Hoisin sauce as your next substitute, if you don't have that a little extra soy sauce should do the trick. And you dont need to precook before wrapping . You can fill the wrappers in raw and cook as well! I hope you enjoy the recipe

I do half green onions, half asian chives. I also replace half the oil with sesame oil. I think it makes a nice difference

I cooked mine all the way through but even if you half cook them it would be fine since your steaming or frying the dumplings anyways. Just cook longer if you go half of course
