Video of Mario Chalmer's game-tying 3 pointer for the Kansas Jayhawks in the National Championship game. Filmed inside of Allen Fieldhouse, the crowd was insane.
I love hearing that single scream of worry when KU almost lost the ball and then hearing the loud roars of the crowd after Chalmers made that shot I would've loved to have been at either Allen field house or the actual game. Rock Chalk Jayhawk.
As a true blue Memphis fan, I remember watching this game when I was 13 years old and it truly broke my heart, even to this day. However, I've come to accept the loss and give props to Kansas and their fanbase for an incredible overall ball game and championship. Clearly it was a matchup between the two best teams in basketball that year. Congrats to the 07 and 08 Jayhawks and 21 22 team as well. Go Tigers Go
I was at a KU bar in Washington DC with about 300 other Jayhawks. The place erupted with such noise...was unforgettable. Awesome to see the view from Allen too!
Well I gotta tell you I was in the front row at Kemper in 1988 for Danny and the Miracles - my senior year at KU. I was at the Final Four in 2002 and 2003. Couldn't go to this Final Four but saw them play in person in Omaha. Thank you Mario Chalmers and the rest of the Jayhawks!!! And thank you RUclips for letting me relive this a couple dozen times a day!!!! Rock Chalk Jayhawk!!!!
I've watched this at least 5 times a day over the last week! I plan on watching this every morning until we get the next basketball season started so we can DO IT AGAIN!
Not only is this moment unforgettable, but my best friend from law school is in the video at the end. I watch this and I weep. The comments from fans of other schools are remarkable - you can't deny the impact of this video.
That scream by the girl when Collins takes a stumble followed by Mario's incredible shot and the crowd exploding, then collectively taking a breath as Memphis takes the final shot and then erupting again as the clock runs out. Awesome.
This gave me chills... I spilled so much stuff jumping around when Chalmers hit the shot because you knew that Kansas would win in overtime. Plus in this March Madness I had Kansas vs. Memphis in the championship game with Kansas winning it all. Damn...
What a moment. Lawrence went insane when his shot went in. The entire town was screaming -- you could literally hear the white noise roar from all directions. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
I've watched the shot a million times in the last few weeks, but this is a truly unique vantage point. Definitely adds a little something to what was already an outlandish way to end 20 years of frustration. I especially like the second wave of cheers after the Memphis 3 missed. Bedlam.
I remember sitting in my apartment in Lawrence with my two roommates. We were having a nervous breakdown. When he made that shot, we went so crazy the downstairs neighbors called the cops on us. It was glorious.
Truly nice footage. It's as if you knew that shot was going to happen! Thank you for posting. I was at the game, 6 rows up across from the Memphis bench, but after watching this, it makes me wish I were in the Fieldhouse! Thank you. Rock Chalk.
It's like opening up the chest of college basketball and looking at it's heart. Damn, watching that game in the Phog must have been one of those moments you remember forever. I even heard my neighbors screaming from where I was.
I was at home ...losing my mind but trying to stay quiet for my sleeping 2.5 year old and 1 year old! Fast Forward 14 years... My boys and I watching KU win title in 2022! Amazing!
I was there. No audio device can record how loud it was in there. After Chalmers hit that shot, my roommate hugged me so hard that I strained my left pectorial muscle. It still hurts today. I don't care. Being at Allen Fieldhouse for that game was simply amazing. I got to kiss centercourt after we all rushed it. Best time of my life.
now thats school spirit! watching they're Jayhawks inside of Allen Fieldhouse on national TV. well the fans were supporting they're team no matter where it was at.
god bless those jayhawks. thank you mario chalmers for giving me one of the greatest moments of my life..... i think eveyrone in the country knew that when we made that shot, we were definitely winning the game in OT.... ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK BABYYYYY!
i was at a bar in DC with about 200 KU fans/alums. our reaction was loud and wild and unforgettably loud. but man.....this video gives me freaking CHILLS! so amazing.
just imagined how mario felt man... all the fans lovin him for that shot. i betcha when mario is in a bad mood he comes to youtube and watches vids of him hittin that shot to put him in a good mood lollol
I almost started crying from joy at work when watching this...I wish I could have been back in Kansas Thanks for the video- although I sorta feel bad that you had to watch that shot through your camera
You know, the best part of this video isn't the crowd screaming when Chalmers hit his shot, but rather the collective gasp as Dozier threw up his prayer. It's crazy to listen to.
OH MA GOSH! A humble Memphis fan, First one i've met since the win. Thanks for not being a sore loser, and I won't rub it in. Quite frankly I turned the game off with 2 minutes left cuz i was so pissed. turned it on and we were on the line putting it within 4. great game and I thought memphis had it...
im from NJ, i never really cared for Kansas, but that year i had picked them in the bracket to beat Memphis 74-69. They won me $500 dollars. Ever since that night, Kansas has been my favorite college basketball team in the land, and when Mario hit that shot OMG i didn't know what to do
Mason, Crissy, Cindy and I were living in Lawrence in 2008. GLUED to the edge of our seats watching the game. When Mario hit that game winner we went nutz! Cindy, Crissy and Mason hopped into Cindys car to head down to Mass. Mason was standing up, through the moon roof, waving our KU flag. I'll never forget that night.
I did the exact same thing. What even made it better was the fact that you could tell the announcers were routing for memphis, always talking about what a great team memphis is and how far they have come, and then they got beaked haha.........ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
Noo, it's not fake. They let people watch the game on the big screens at Allen Fieldhouse. The game wasn't played there but soo many people wanted to be in Lawrence at the time of the game (so they could celebrate the win afterwards) so they play the game on the screens. They do that for big games during the Big 12
2022...National Championship...KU down 15 at halftime ...Bill Self asked his Kansas team if they would rather be down 15 with 20 minutes to play or to be down 9 with 2 min to play...referring to this 2008 championship comeback win...the team said they take the 15...and they proved themselves just as worthy by winning the 2022 national championship and overcoming the greatest deficit in a national game... Rock Chalk Jayhawk
I find it amazing that the person filming this was able to continue filming and wasn't going crazy with joy like everyone else!
I love hearing that single scream of worry when KU almost lost the ball and then hearing the loud roars of the crowd after Chalmers made that shot I would've loved to have been at either Allen field house or the actual game. Rock Chalk Jayhawk.

Thanks for all the kind comments. When I got that footage, I was sure it was going to be a hit!

It's the collective pause and then re-eruption when the game goes to OT! What a moment!!!

My aunt and cousin were there and they said it was the loudest they'd ever heard the Fieldhouse even though it was only half full.
It's so loud, you'd think they were actually there at the game. Jayhawk fans are the best. ROCK CHALK!
This gives me so many chills
I did the exact same thing. What even made it better was the fact that you could tell the announcers were routing for memphis, always talking about what a great team memphis is and how far they have come, and then they got beaked haha.........ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK
