      @Café Littéraire We don't know the full story of what happened here, its very easy to watch a snippet of a dog that was clearly way overdue a haircut, and we can all sit and speculate as to what happened, and throw accusations around or assume things but unless someone is a monster, no one would sit back and allow a pet to suffer willingly.
      I do agree though, the more you leave the matts the worse they get, and if needs be try to clip them out right at the start before they tangle worse, and allowing them to continue to get worse is painful for the dog.
      We probably won't ever know why they waited 16 months, I hope they can continue to groom him now, at 16 he's in brilliant condition so he's clearly loved.

    I found a lost one a decade ago that was severely matted and starved. Gave him food,water, a warm bath and had him shaved completely the next day too. Gave him a dog sweater to keep him warm at night. I've never seen a dog more happy and playful ever in my life at the time. It's like they know who their life long friends are.
    Many years and a lot of chicken and veges later we've been the best of friends ever since. I was never a dog person at first but seeing a hungry dirty rag follow me home changed something in me.

      That way he is moving is not natural either.
      He is still walking as if his paw fur was grown out and matted which would have caused him both to walk slowly for fear of slipping and painfully because of the matted fur.
      Given time and his paws being kept trimmed he will walk normally for a dog his size, though his leg muscles may also be atrophied from underuse too.

    Little dude’s groom should be a “ must see “ for all potential dog owners

    • @Skatejock21
      @Skatejock21 2 года назад +40

      I dont think we should be assuming that this was due to complete neglect or that every potential dog owner is like this. There are some new dog owners who take training more seriously then people who have had animals all their lives. Some new dog owners can care for their dogs health better then some who have had animals all their lives. They can be far more diligent. We shouldn't be assuming the worst in people because you'll find them. Also it tells people that they wouldn't be good dog owners by virtue of being new. So therefore you wont find homes for dogs who need one. There is merit to assuming the best in people and not suggesting they need a warning all the time. That has every potential to deter people from owning pets too. Who knows what this dog gets into as well to make him that way. Its not always the owners fault.

She has no personal space like she did when she was a kitten and she didn't like something you know.

A lot of times these dogs are owned by elderly people and they might not physically be able to take their dog to a groomer. They might have gotten the dog at 65 and now they are 81. The main care giver might of had demensia or cancer that took over their lives. Or a child became very sick or someone lost their job. Besides that, they don't know what was happening. A dog could've been lost for a fuckton of time, the dog may have belonged to someone with Alzheimer's or dementia (happens a lot, sadly, and you can't really get angry at the people, someone should've been there to make sure their pet was healthy, but not all elderly folks have that), could be a rescue that was recent surrendered, something could've happened to the owner(s) on a short notice (accidents that send someone to the hospital and whatnot could easily lead to a dog just being left with some extended family or smthn). Basically, there's enough other reasons for this sorta thing to occur that it's just not worth being a twat over, doing that helps no one really. If a groomer or kennel caretaker were to notice things about a dog that concerned them, or possibly suggested that the dog was actively being abused or harmed in some way, they wouldn't just let that happen, they'd try to figure out what's going on and help the animal if help is needed (at least, any good caretaker or groomer would).

    Looked like a lamb after his groom as he had to be shaved but he was so much happier after 🥰
    Since he doesn't shed he gets groomed every six weeks

    One of the things I enjoyed most about having a dog was sitting down with her at the end of a long day to brush out her long coat. She loved the attention, and I found it very soothing, almost meditative. I put a lot of time into socializing her and training her. She basically grew up knowing that basic grooming, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and tooth brushing were just a part of life, nothing to fear. She passed of old age nearly 17 years after I adopted her. Ironically, I've since developed allergies to dogs and cats and likely will not have another pet.
