- Hello everyone,
When talking possible guests for the Whitwell and Reepham Railway's Gala, Lawrie suggested the Wickham from the MSLR, and when they said what a great idea, lets do it, it was down to him to make things happen.
Enjoy a bit of the behind the scenes of setting up for a gala, and then Lawrie actually being useful as operational staff!
A big thank you to both the MSLR and the W&RR for their efforts to make the gala happen.

Just a bit of geography. Agecroft No 3, built in Newcastle-on-Tyne, worked at Agecroft Power Station (NW Manchester), a Ruston built in Lincoln and a Baguley built in Burton-on-Trent. Then the Wickham built in Bedford. I remember going across North Manchester to see the locos at Agecroft I worked for a while at ICI Blackley, so had daily sightings of Isabel (HL) and Lady Armaghdale (HC)
On a slightly unrelated note; Mark "Hyce" Huber (former developer of Railroads Online and current employee of the Colorado Railroad Museum) said on stream that you're welcome to come visit and run locomotives with him! The ultimate collaboration! Also you should ask to drive his GTO ;)
I had a great day out at this event and it was good to meet Lawrie and the Wickham in person. Thanks to all involved.
Looks like so much fun! What a stunning little engine Agecroft is, and what a funky little doodlebug the Wickham is!
It was nice meeting Lawrie on the Saturday with the wife and little one, both of whom enjoy watching your video. Despite being a big steamie fan, it always gets me that the lad is hesitant to go on the footplate of an engine.

Probably also the first time the wickham was used to serve a 2 course dining train of burger and cake!
Now this makes me want a little track inspection vehicle like that trolley.
I rember seeing several Wickham trolleys laying next to the line on the Totnes to Buckfastleigh run , I love the name plate on the front of your example 😀
Good video but Wickham went to east Anglian railway museum 9 years ago for trolleys & dollies event . I was middy driver for that event. So 2nd time away .
The Gala weekend was superb and good to see you there Lawrie . I thoroughly enjoyed exhibiting my layout both days. I managed to have a few breaks to look outside and what an excellent job the railway put on with a variety of locos and stock. Great to see the Wickham stretching its legs. Hopefully the Middy will use it a bit more.
Speeders are fun indeed. The hit and miss engine is fun to operate.
Love the bit you saind to guy polishing the name plate " missed a spot" classic cleaning joke.
Another great one Lawrie!
Always nice to see a Wickhams running - and really nice to see one just down the road!
Hi it’s Mark, I was on the Pendennis Castle footplate earlier with my dad and Drew. Sorry you were talking to me and asked me a question but I couldn’t hear as it was loud. Was great to meet you.
Great Video and what a great event I looked that place up it looks like they really have put a lot work into that place !
Love it Big thumbs up every time 👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely great! I would ask: will they make the tracks longer some day?
Excellent video. There are few things to beat messing about with trains.
