    You are spot on about our useless planning system.
    I’m a small house builder, we bought a site with an outline consent for 22 homes including 7 social rent homes, our detailed consent was turned down on a technical issue to do with suds. The scheme could have been approved with a pre start condition, but it wasn’t.
    We’ve since solved the drainage issue, reapplied for the same scheme but the council have now refused the same scheme as they have decided the site is now outside the development boundary.
    That system is not conducive to solving the housing crisis.
    Having spent the last 25 years building small scale housing schemes I’m winding up, planning is now gambling, that’s not a business model I want to operate under.

      It definitely can feel like gambling with our current system!

    Considering so many MP's are Landlords it's quite unbelievable what a mess they have made in the past few years! Most of this is common sense, please send them a copy of this video Mark!!

    I've just returned from New Zealand where they rolled out the Auckland Unitary Plan, which zones then prescribes density and what can be built where. If you stick to these rules, no planning needed. Not sure why British cities can't follow suit..

    This is all very logical thinking. I don't feel there is any of that going on when it comes to housing sector in England or Wales. Lots of thought has recently gone into protecting and strengthening tennant rights but absolutely non into the knock on economic effect of going to far on this one subject without any balance. Unless of course plenty of thought has actually gone into all this and forcing out small landlords out and increasing rents nationwide is actually the grand plan. Making assets pay even higher returns before large institutions step in is actually very logical come to think of it.

      Great take Tom! Are we investing too much into emotional damage control and not enough into economic damage control?

    Everything you’ve said is exactly what’s needed however we now have politics of envy & both the main parties are on the far left so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. As you say back to the 70’s however this time round landlords will be forced to maintain their properties to meet all the increasing regulations.
    I’m not convinced this is a business model the huge corporations will embrace given they can find better returns elsewhere.

      Time to lift the veil...Big Mike

      @Big-Mike 28 дней назад

      @ProgressiveProperty well apparently that's what is supposed to be happening this year, people are becoming more aware and I forget the word there using but it's meaning is the lifting of the vail, but personally I think the whole system is so corrupt that voting is an illusion of choice and we need a whole new system with new people to vote for that are fresh and not corrupt already! I'm not talking a new world order system either more of a system for the people by the people rather than the elites just keeping all the money at the top table and throwing down a few scraps for the workers hear and there! There's enough money or wealth to spread around as long as it's distributed fairly not kept by greedy corrupt politicians and businesses and there families
