- Police say at least two thousand people mobbed Union Square in New York City after a social media influencer, known as Kai Cenat, planned an event to give away PlayStations. Cenat is in custody. NBC News’ Ron Allen has more details on the chaos and several arrests made.

I've seen several people arguing that this is the result of a "bored generation", and I completely and utterly disagree. @@tyreek.6815 being a dupe or a dumby, and being a fan are not mutually exclusive character traits. Some people, Enjoying whatever the medium, are too stupid or lack the independent thinking skill to not do stupid crap because they're excited, or in a crowd.
Some call it emotional maturity, others call it social IQ.
The difference of an influencer or public celebrity, from art or an art piece is that art is an object, large audience or small, the other is a person, performing for an audience the larger the audience the larger the percieved value in idolizing the individual the smaller the audience the value decreases, without the audience there is no craft/medium for the performer, and the value of their content is irrelevant.
