Great video Cody, nice to hear you express your humanity, feelings, and feedback when shooting, people, scenes, and inanimate objects. Love your compositions and attitude, looking forward to the next video dude. #Londonlovesyou
I've just started my way to a budget medium format photography by getting a jammed Mamiya 645 pro body for $100. It took me an evening to completely disassemble and fix it. Now as it works perfectly I'm looking for my first lens for it. 2 options I have at the moment are 80 2.8 and 55 2.8 Can't choose between them. I'll get another one later anyways but I'll only be having one of these for a couple of months. And I have no idea which one.
Hey! If you’re just getting into medium format I’d go with the 80mm as it’s going to give you more of the typical characteristics of medium format that people look for. Good luck!
@@cody_wood Thanks. I could not find 80 2.8 so I'm ordering 55 2.8 and probably 150 as well. Maybe in the future I'll manage to find 80 2.8. Another thing which bothers me a lot is waist level finders being so ridiculously expensive. I'm going to 3d print it by myself and CNC mill some metal parts even though it has a complex mechanical design but could still be cloned. Should be worth it
i was having trouble deciding between these two lenses and this video broke it down exactly how i needed, thank you!! also your friend dancing in the background towards the end is so cute. absolutely wonderful content and you have a keen eye, i'm so glad i stumbled upon your page!!
The title implies a comparison between the two lenses. Would be nice to see what effect the different focal lengths have on a photo when shooting the same scene from the same vantage point/distance. Perhaps show the results side by side including the corresponding lens info.
just discovered you today and i’m honestly surprised you don’t have more followers! you’re way talented, not just with your shots but i also enjoyed the way you pieced together your whole video. i also like how engaging you are without being too over the top/loud. can’t wait to see more of you and your work in the future! ⭐️
Hey Cody, this video made me feel like I need to take my 645 out and take lovely portraits ! I'm curious about the magnifier you have on your prism. Do you know the reference ? Again, you make a reaaly good job with your vidéos !!! love it !!!
You should!! The magnifier I have on there is the 2x variable flip up magnifier. It’s very annoying and is only really helpful for focussing on a tripod.
Hey Marco, since I purchased the Mamiya I have barely touched the Canon, mostly because I prefer the aspect ratio of the 645. There are some things I miss about the Canon though, it's a lot faster to use and the depth of field isn't so shallow. Also there's something beautiful about 35mm film that isn't always apparent with Medium format. I imagine I'll keep using both :)
@@cody_wood Thanks, Cody... I just TODAY received a 2.8 C N leaf shutter version... I am surprised to think this but I'm really impressed by the lens and glad I went 2.8 (at least for now!) versus 1.9. I prefer shallow DOF but I'm loving the way 2.8 renders and primarily wanted it for individual portraiture.
Some of this video is just good photography and other bits are introspective and self-analytical, where perhaps you look at what you think your photos may be telling you about yourself or how you can discover things about yourself through analysing your photos. I watched something similar from “Tom through the lens” where he spent a few days in his hometown, also with a medium format camera. See here: ruclips.net/video/dTbWPPapo8A/видео.html I enjoyed it for similar reasons and both your videos made me think more about looking a bit deeper at what I photograph myself. Thanks for the effort and honesty you put into this video.
Nice video! About to buy a Mamiya 645 and 80mm. Can’t wait.

Loved the abandoned boat shots and the blurred sunset it wonderful. Like an impressionist painting. Keep them coming mate.
Cheers Brett, more on the way :)

@@cody_wood Well, I ended up accidentally buying both 55 and 80. Still waiting for the film backs to start shooting though
Im not a fan of the 80mm on my mamiya. It's so hard to focus and I need SO MUCH LIGHT to take good pics :(
i’m currently addicted to this camera, i really want to make it my first medium format, hopefully for an upcoming trip, great photos :)

Great job my friend! You just make a video full patience, without pretentious, with accurate and sensible explanation.
great photography and practice awareness, need more of that on yt

Wow thank you so much I really really appreciate that!!! There’s more on the way :)
Magic exit entry.
Is that an optical viewfinder on top of the prism?
Nice catch.
Beautiful images!
3:02 around WHAT?!
Clownin' in the background 😂
You must be the cutest cuddly analog shooter bear working today.

@@cody_woodright. I tested one Yesterday ! Pretty annoying Indeed. Thank you for the advice by the way !
Hello, nice video, i have a question... What do you prefer, shoot in your canon or the mamiya? Thanks :)

@@cody_wood thanks a lot :)
Thanks for sharing your experience! Sorry if you said it and I missed it but are you shooting the 2.8 or 1.9 on the 80?
Hey Scott, I was using the 2.8 here!

nice shots
what is you settings on the boat part and did you scan it by your self
thanks.
Great video brother ❤️
Is it mamiya pro the newest version or just a basic?
I believe it's one of the newer versions, although there are a couple of later models like the 645 AFD and 645E.
@@cody_wood if your is made of plastic i believe its the newest version
Great shots dude!
Thanks!
Did you use a light meter?
That hat realy made the whole video!!!
sweet shots amigo!!
Thanks Alfonso!
love the video
The shot at 7:49 is insane!
Hmm just what I'm looking for!
Nice catch! ⚡️
Thanks for coming
Nice work bro!
Thanks!!
Very good.
Cheers
Gregory halpern type shit 😭
Your photos are really cool to watch you take and see how they turnout. Out of curiosity do you use a light meter of any, app or handheld?
Hey man thank you so much. My camera has an internal light meter so I use that to figure out my exposures!
cody wood This is me learning about medium formats before I buy one, didn’t know that they had light meters in them, sweet
Thomas Katter some do and some don’t! Make sure you check the specs on the specific camera you’re looking to buy to make sure :)
Lmao, as an american 3:00 made me laugh out loud.
🤣

that music is so much emphasizing this analogue cringe
still some reasonable thoughts
My new videos have way less cringy music. Actually it might be more cringy but I’ll leave that up to the master.
