GAAAAWWWD!!! I love the look of Mamiya glass. The whole range shares umage quality and I live especially how they lighten shadows in a way i have never seen with any other lens system. After that is sharpness and color rendition. Yaayyy!!!
Literally the video i was looking for, thank you Perry! Was searching for a video that showed how the 55mm looked and I miraculously have it in my possession haha! Thank you sir
I think the Kipon Focal Reducer/Speedbooster is a necessity if you are going to use these lenses and want 100 percent of the benefits of using them. If I didn’t use it in this test you’d be seeing 20% (guessin) less field of view and Most of this set is f2.8 which is fine for some but with the Kipon you are now getting an f2. It’s tough to spend that 7-800 dollars on top of the lens price but you really just have to factor that in with the price to play.
@@2comicsonabench Great demo ! On think I don't get is why are you using a focal reducer on a medium format sensor (like the GFX) ? M645 lenses are supose to fit on medium format sensor ? or maybe bigger ?
Nope. It means you can use your FD glass on a Leica mount camera. You'll need a leica to fd adapter.. but it'll usually include a lens element in it. And usually that sucks. Unfortunately. Mirrorless is the way to go if you want to adapt vintage glasses.
Hey Perry. Happy to Sub! What are your thoughts on the Fuji GFX as a main video camera? Have you tried the Black Magic Video assist or the Ninja for the 422 12 bit?
Hey Josh! I only shoot 12 bit raw on the Gfx 100 and I truly love it. Only down side is the Gfx 100 big as it is has a micro hdmi port but otherwise it’s a dream. I was obsessed with the film “Joker” and wanted a large format feel in my videos. As the kids say “it hits different.” Make sure to check out 2 Comics on the bench to see how the 12 bit raw looks. 180 Seconds was show on the Gfx as well but the 12 bit update hadn’t happened yet. Be warned there’s some curse words in there.
i was on the fence whether i wanted a speedbooster but since i have a collection of M645 lenses, this video convinced me. thank you!

@@2comicsonabench I could not fing a mamiya to gfx adapter that included a focal reducer :(
I have the 80mm 2.8 hopefully I get similar results...such a good look
Thank you so much for this video. Great demonstration.
Random question: Kipon Canon FD to Leica M. Does an adapter like this mean that I can use Lecia lens on my Canon New F-1?
Nope. It means you can use your FD glass on a Leica mount camera. You'll need a leica to fd adapter.. but it'll usually include a lens element in it. And usually that sucks. Unfortunately. Mirrorless is the way to go if you want to adapt vintage glasses.
man i love your intro lighting setup
Which Adapter did you use.? For the future, when you review other lenses, please let us know about adapters.
It was the kipon focal reducer but it was the .7x
Great video!! have a question, is the 45mm around 35mm on a full frame ?
45mm on the GFX looks roughly like 35mm would on a full-frame.
Great demo!
