On controller I prefer and am faster with hood cam. I also really like the sense of speed. With a wheel I prefer the driver camera, the cockpit view without the wheel on screen. I don’t like normal cockpit view because I find the wheel moving distracting and the shifting animations with an H shifter, especial in Forza are so bad and distracting. I also like the immersion of being able to use the actual dials and dash board readouts. I could be more precise with a chase cam, because you can see the full car, it doesn’t feel as fast so you have a sense of more time to react or move, and so as a result you can better place the car and avoid collisions. I just don’t find it as fun.
I've used bumper cam for as long as I can remember in racing games and I've been gaming for years. It gives the best sense of speed imho. I've never been able to get to grips with chase cam, it feels disconnected in some way and similar to when I try to play a FPS without the mouse being inverted, all over the place lol
i drive with controller and for me bonnet cam is the one for me as a beginner. i‘m driving cars in real life since 20 years and just started to play race games.. forza motorsport is the first game and after using all cams for few hours i prefer bonnet cam def. So real talk here :) good video! cheers! subed to channel!
@kireth try a cockpit view with camera drift option, it’s interesting you can better judge the car rotation this way and notice it easily, maybe not the fastest because of the vision but fun to play
For me a bonnet view is far more natural than a cockpit view, because I perceive a screen like a windshield. I must say I don't have a big triple screen setup, just a single screen, so it may be different, but when I started with sim racing and was tricked to use a cockpit view, the vision was very limited for me. After few months I gave up, because the cockpit view had no benefits, only restraints. I realized I have my "cockpit" right before my screen, so there is no point in having more limited view than it already is by size of my screen.
From out my view, there is not such a big diff in views if you are not dog water in the game. 3ps 4 a better situational awareness and 1ps is better 4 the car behavior understanding.
Honestly it’s weird I spend so much time in cockpit view in recent years now that it’s the only way I can tell what the car is doing. If I try third person camera up close or far away it feels so weird and I can’t drive😅 Yes this is on controller . Proximity arrows need an upgrade .
How can it be that they do esport contests, call themselves the best of the best and use the 3rd pers. cam. I mean it should be restricted to the cockpit cam, otherwise its not like driving in a simulator imo.
I always play on cockpit or hood camera in other titles but in this game you are at clearly disadvantage playing with these, you have less visibility of the track compared to those who plays in third person and the game doesn't have a radar system or a spotter to tell you if you have drivers on your sides or near you, when the inside/outside its clear etc. you always have to be looking at your surroundings so you can't stay focused on the track, the proximity arrows don't work properly either so they are useless. That's why I would never consider Forza Motorsport as an simcade title when controller players have a clear advantage over steering wheel users, all the pros of this game plays in third person and with an controller... In Gran Turismo there's no way you're going to see a professional with a controller.
Third person is just weird and feels very vague, while cockpit seems to be a claustrophobic nightmare. I want to play bonnet view, which feels more true to real life driving, but the reflections on the bodywork distract me all the time! So I end up playing bumper cam, which is too low and does cause vision issues when sniffing my opponents rear bumper...
I'd be curious how you managed to get chase cam to not shift so far out. Because that is the problem I have with it. I'd still use cockpit cam mostly, but chase cam would be useful if the camera didn't shift out so far. Cockpit works really well on forza with triple screens and nividia surround. You get a wider view of what is around you, usuable rear view mirror, and can tell where the car is to maximize track limits. There is some warping on the edges of the side monitors since it's not baked in with screen angle, but it still works very well. I'm setting pretty close to the Forza Pro times in the spec hoppers using cockpit. None of the views outside of chase though give you an understanding of where cars are in your blind spots and pox arrows don't work.
Hi on my wheels so I can enjoy playing in cockpit or bumper cam. No one is playing a game to enjoy it with the wheel using third person camera. People who do that are willing to cheat at anything they do. It takes the fun out.
My biggest problem with Chase cam is the car is not locked to the camera, the car moves somewhat independently of the camera, and that’s rather disorienting to me. I prefer hood ( bonnet ) cam.
Chase camera in racing games = 3rd person view in stealth and shooting games. Yes, it is not "realistic", but it gives the advantage of immediate feedback of the player's/car's surroundings and limits. In the same way you may use the 3rd person view in stealth games or shooters to look around angles you can't see in 1st person view (in order to avoid detection or to see the enemy before they are in your player's line of sight), you can use the chase camera in racing games in order to get a view of your immediate surroundings, track limits, distance to other cars etc.
my dilemma is that I like the 1st person for immersion and 'realsim' but I know I'm faster in 3rd person. I can't decide and keep switchig around...help...
whats the point of playing a sim when you play it like a video game. Cockpit view would work better if your helmet turned to look at the turn like in real life.
True. There'S a reason why FOV calculators exist (Screen diameter, screen distance, etc) And also yes. Like it was in I think NFS Shift 2? There you could set that the helmet view looks at the apex of the turn. I do not know why not every (sim'ish) racing game has this setting.
@@TimmyLittle-hy5mb Also true. And don't get me wrong. Everybody should play like he/she wants. I wouldn't blame anyone for that. I think what Boostlagg meant was, why playing a Sim (with Sim gear Not to ferget) like an Arcade racer. Also in my opinion if I play a sim, I want to simulate. But still: everybody like he/she wants ;)
I have NO RESPECT for anyone who uses any point of view other than INSIDE the cockpit. Why so much realism in graphics and physics if you behave like a child with a silly toy?
Still waiting for GT7 on PC ! ... wish the day would be here already _ Forza on PC is a 2 / 10 for me. Poorly optimized, lackluster graphics and driving dynamics, poor AI drivers, bad settings and in general would not see it as a simulator in any measure, more like a need for speed!
You put out alot of videos with the exact same content in the brz. Maybe try and play it and tune the car. Not 1 video shows your driver level and rank because you dont even play this. All content is 3 months old......... maybe 1 race after an update. We see you.
Man, this dude can't last 2 minutes without saying something about driving the car or the track in real life! Come on man, if Hamilton made videos he won't say it as much as you.
I use bonnet cam, I would prefer 3rd person but I find the way the car moves to be a bit ugly and unrealistic. I'll try and edit the settings for 3rd person and see if I can make it better as you have suggested.
The sense of speed, the way cars turn, the camera, everything feels more realistic in Forza Motorsport and it's so enjoyable. Normally i use the chasecam because I love to see the car and the liveries. I enjoy your livestreams. Keep it up!
Chase cam and far chase cam is just horrifyingly bad with a steering wheel... it feels like all the inputs just goes away, for me it was the close cockpit wiew for a period, just cuz i drive with a steering wheel, now i changed some FOV settings and i cant drive in any other cam than the drivers eye cam, where u see the steering wheel and arms of the ingame driver, i feel alot faster and alot more precise with this angle. but 3rd person with a steering wheel is just impossible
I was always racing in cockpit view when playing with a wheel. Preferrably without steering wheel shown ingame. Until some years ago, I was always playing with the wrong FOV. I wanted to "see" the speed which was absolutely wrong. I couldn't hit apex's right always had to correct. Fellow racing friends explained to me how to set the FOV right. It might not be the fastets looking but gives you a sense for the size of the car. Best is to use FOV calculators. The FOV should be set like this: "The screen is a window into the virtual world. So the FOV depends on screen size and distance to the screen. Imagine sitting in the car and having the screen in front of you like it is when you are racing." Sure might not look the fastest, because you miss out on that peripheral view, and it looks like it is zoomed in, but when you get the hang of it you can tell where the wheels of the car are and for me I got instantly better. This was years ago in Assetto Corsa. So for me in Forza I think it is something like 25 or so. Somethin all the way to the left. 1Sure, playing wih an ultrawide or a triple screen setup fixes the peripheral view, but still for me its the best camera angle to have a feel for the size of it.
With a wheel, I definitely use hood cam. I turn better, more precisely I correct better. The main negatives are that I can't see as far forward as chase, and my vision is easily blocked by other cars, dust, and smoke. I also use hood cam in FH5 because I seem to have better control of a loose car. On controller (what I mostly use in FM8), I play with chase, mainly to know what's around me, and be more aware of what's ahead. I don't like any of the cockpit views.
I learn a lot by switching views! The cockpit views give you a lot of feedback with the wheel movement and such! 3rd person is the most informative about what is happening with your line and other racers! Im on a controller and cockpit view is so fun that it’s where I spend the most time!
4K triple screen, driver cam, fov at around 30. Looks closest to what a sim should look like, with the added benefit of having the rear view/side mirrors.
So you literally playing at a resolution from 11'520x2160p ? Does the game even support that? Or is it just more blurry than single screen 4k? @@Ghanja007
3rd person is faster for me - if I switch to 1st I notice that im slower - it’s because of brake distance, that’s where the measurable difference is happening 🫡

I'm a hood view boi. I wouldn't mind a "bumper raised" camera to see more than level road and no obstructions

Bumper cam on Forza is too low.
