At 4:51 when the car went wide off track. The amount of grip you still had which kept the car planted showed how hilariously bad the grip in Forza is. Not just in the rain.
That car should have had the rear end snap on you ending in a dramatic crash. It’s as if Forza has this invisible hand helping to keep the back end planted and the overal chassis.
It’s simplified the tire model into the system where you can hold aggressive slip angles with little to no risk/consequence.
As you noted with GT7, the grip levels are much closer to reality in the rain and particularly standing water. Pouhon in the rain is as treacherous in GT7 as it is in real life. I had my own moment there in a 77 RS spec 911 😅
They had standing water in FM7 and it tried to kill you every time you drove through it. The last corner before the back straight at Spa had a river of water across the track and it was deadly. I definitely prefer it this way than the old way.

Wait... You pointed a nice and functional feature that has been downgraded lazily to layers of visual clutter and hidden grip sliders "because rain" and in the end you say it's better this way? Did my interpretation fail me and you meant otherwise? It makes no sense in my head. Fm7 puddles were far from perfect or realistic in any way, but at least they tried, and the preoccupation to avoid it made it a solid feature
@@leandrofod That "nice and functional feature" was too severe and needed to be nerfed. It was a pain in the arse and not at all fun. Yes I'm glad they removed it and I hope it never returns.

Well they have lied about basically everything with this Motorsport so I have no reason to believe that the tire contact bs is true either.
can't be 100% sure, but i think they removed the effects of puddles because people complained/couldn't drive on forzaM7, hence why multiplayer only had fog instead of rain on there. I can only assume they changed it this time around by keeping the effect of rain but with no standing water
Kinda worst of both worlds
The fog was due to hardware limitations on Xbox one, hence why proper rain was only in single player and not multiplayer

@@Kireth I know which is why I would love to see you do your videos in cockpit view my friend. It’s harder but given you have a sim rig it is such a waste to use that in chase cam.
I get it’s not ACC your playing but still when using the wheel I’d like to see cockpit view.
@darren1976 he’s in third person in this video because so he can clearly show us that the rain is “fake” in this game also don’t be stupid you know how half of players drive in this game so 3rd person helps you know when a dirty bastard is going to twat you and cockpit you can’t you see the fucker rear ending you
It really seems some time some people get rain effects while others don’t. There’s no way that lap times can be that far apart. Just finished a multiplayer race at LeMans in the rain. Completely ridiculous

no buddie last night in the new touring car races me and leigh my mate were having a righ laugh it was literally impossible to go i a straight line. i tried the merc the audi and the link. aud isnt partciluarly bad but the other two i was about 10 seconds a la slower if not more @@Kireth

I think its really a cae of realism v fun. They may have dialled it back too far but random aqua planing wouldn't be fun especially with the penalty system a safety rating
Turn 10 definitely dialed back the effects of rain on the cars from before. Puddles were so aggressive in causing aquaplaning you could feel the need to change the racing line. The puddles felt strategically placed too to probably force that behavior. I feel like they may have dialed it back too much.
I feel like it’s so car dependent too eg anything mid engine is like a cheese mode… I kinda miss the fm7 ott version but then again it felt too forced and puddles were hell
I played FM6 with a controller, and the water puddles on track does impact the driving. It is sad to learn FM8 doesn’t seem do the same.

Forza wet tracks look pretty, but actual wet roads in real life don’t look that shiny. GT7 nailed it

Yes forza looks fake, gt7 looks and feel more realistic in rain, previous forza motorsport titles also had better rain effects its downgraded in fm 23
Fm6 had better rain effects than FM and FM's rain driving is a joke compared to assetto's
I feel like the rain does little to nothing to the handling in Forza. Looks great but seems to be just for show

This doesn’t look like driving in the wet the way the car handles. It just looks like they have lowered the grip, hydroplaning especially is a much more violent loss of control than what looks like just a basic slide like that last clip.
Yeah, no, hydroplaning is not a violent loss of control. Many times people don't realize they are hydroplaning until it's too late. What you are talking about is driving through puddles or large swaths of standing water. That can be a violent loss of control, and then can cause hydroplaning. I've hydroplaned before and I've driven through standing water at speed. Driving through standing water is the violent, nose dive, car pulling to the side of the road event.

Driving in the rain in GT seven is about as fun as having hemorrhoids.
The water on the track is ok, the wet tieres are a littel op for it grip wise.
The visuals and audio in the rain aren't bad, but the way the car drives is terrible. It just feels like they've removed arro but in slow speed scenarios. It's a weird feeling, it doesn't feel like the tires lose grip, it feels like the road is sliding under the car.

It cannot be completely realistic. Plus most players wouldn't pay attention to rain vs dry driving, they just wanna race.

It is fake! Videogame rain is, in fact, not real at all.
I'm not following, you clearly seem to be struggling to control the car; running wide, which is a sign of aquaplaning, and having to increase your braking distances. All signs that the rain simulation is working. You are also careful of how you are modulating the throttle, which is signs of a good race driver. The audio representation is also assisting you in gauging how much control you have over the car, and that too affects how you react. Aquaplaning is usually more hazardous for the driver in the front. The following cars, depending on their distance, have the benefit of the tires siphoning the water away, so there's less water if you follow the trails of the lead car. That seems like pretty great rain simulation to me.... JS
Did you even watch the video? The initial rain had little to no effect. And max rain barely had a effect. None of it was even remotely close to realistic.

I'm convinced Forza 7 had better rain and puddles. Yes, the aquaplaning always seemed kind of random to me, but it was there :) There are places I'm afraid to drive in the rain because I know what it will do. Especially on Sebring.

Even Horizon 5 has a at least one or two street courses with standing puddles that definitely throw you off line at speed. One in particular, I can’t remember the name of the course atm but it’s a course near the east side beach on the map. It even has some safety cones nearby warning you of the water.
I think compared to PC2 the weather effects arent as severe with puddles of water throwing you off and aqua planing, but in saying that there are definitely different levels of rain effects on track.
The rain is sure fake in fm, previous titles was much better in this regard, gt7 has much better rain effects

while it sounds interesting that you can hydroplane in GT7, I don't think it feels real even in the slightest compared to real life. so why bother simulating something that represents the worst situation. That also doesn't have "real" physics. Also Drive without the "race" wet tires. you will feel the need of grip heavily....
In GT7 it’s very similar to real life.
Eager to test this because so far, Forza has proven to be more realistic in terms of physics Currently own both and really want settle on GT7, but it just seems a little too numb, and even too forgiving at times. Trying to work out whether or not its just me getting used to switching from Forza. Its like GT7 definitely has limits, but almost as if that only applies to certain sections of a track. GT7 seems to allow the driver to re-adjust mid-corner, which is a bit too generous for my tastes.
Absolutely
I’ve had the exact opposite. Forza has been nothing even remotely close to realistic. Huge slip angles that you can hold with ease, whereas in reality race tires would snap on you at the limit, similar to GT7.
The rain physics for Forza are simply non existent.
Forza fakes everything😂. Wet racing isn’t a challenge in FM, it is in GT7. Definitely no hydro planing ever in FM, and not much grip difference.
