Good evening Leander. Have you been listening to the National Chopin Piano Competition the past few days? I hope you do as it will definitely inspire you to continue this wonderful talent of yours.
Your thumb does not open down, instead it goes to the side, and in order to make the the thumb to hit a key, the whole hand rises above the thumb, the wrist sticking up tensely. Basically, all your playing is with stiff raised wrists pressing down on keys via the hand. This is a well known major defect that will badically prevent any virtuosity. This needs to be addressed NOW. This habit is very hard to get rid of, hours and hours of exercises are needed. Every minute of playng with such thumb position makes the defect get more and more ingrained.
Misha, I would also like to thank you for your help with Leander's techniques. I had only 5 years of study on piano and then had to switch to pipe organ for 2 years to play for church services. I found it hard to go back playing piano for my classes in grade school. Habit of holding base notes longer etc. A teacher would help Leander learn exercises to change his technique. I have a family member that played piano with the Chicago Symphony for 35 year and is retired now. She had several child students over the years. I pray that Leander parents find one for him. Thanks for helping as we do feel he is amazing. I started on accordion at 10 and didn't do well with it. Charles
@Leander-pianoThe Piano Prof: Kate Boyd has a video on proper thumb position and use. She has a skeleton that shows which joint propels thumb action! Fascinating! Proper placement will head off injuries and enable even better playing! Also, have you watched any of Adam Swanson's performances? I like this song about the lark. I have never seen a meadowlark! We have cardinals and bluejays and lots of seagulls! 💗
This boy is a very special child every time I watch him I can't believe his talent it's amazing, God gives us special blessings and he is definitely one,God bless him.❤❤❤
The thing I like most is that you're having fun whilst your playing and that makes it fun for us. That smile and tickle of the keys is great. Thanks Leander.
Thanks for the peppy tune. I needed that after shoveling snow today. I feed the birds (cardinals, chickadees, woodpeckers, blue jays, finches) every morning and they are always waiting for me and start chirping (I like to think they’re thanking me or else telling me to hurry up!) and flitting around as I’m filling the feeder.
@Leander-piano I love watching them and identifying them. I had to get a taller shepherd hook to hang the feeder on because a raccoon could reach up and eat the sunflower seeds - wish I could send you my video of that 😂.
@Leander-piano I’m happy to hear that. I used to have a hummingbird feeder but have gotten lazy about hanging it. Now you’ve inspired me to put it up again in the spring. They’re fun to watch. If you’ve noticed, they don’t like to share 😄.
Leander you are not just an incredible pianist you are ,you are also a top class entertainer and a bright star.Keep shining your light. That smile gets me every time😀
Great job. I could see you really enjoyed playing that tune. I love your playing but I really enjoy your smiles and laughs when you get to a bit you really enjoy.
I am getting a real education on rap time listening to you. I knew of rag time but I was never familiar with all the different artists. Thanks for the education.
So Masterfully done young Gentleman! Thank you so very much! My heart gets filled when I watch you perform and seeing the joy you show while you are doing it.
Hi Leander! I think I hear both the Western and Eastern Meadowlark. Pretty funny that people with parrots teach them to sing like humans, and we try to imitate the birds! Great rag, and looks like you like it too! Thank you for sharing this! 😊🤗 Jerry
Keep blasting that smile at the camera kid. The entire light of heaven shines from your face every time you do, touching the heart of every one watching you play. The fun you feel when you play, we all are feeling it with you! 🙂 You lift every heart you play to. You truly are a true entertainer!
I’ve never heard this rag before. It was quite fun and peppy and most of all you played it at a very nice moderate tempo throughout the piece. Parents, you must be very proud.
That was absolutely amazing beautiful playing of the piano. A little bit of flashy wild clothing and I will call you LIBERACE JR since he also smiled when he played.
You are a great talent!! I love your piano playing. Whenever I'm a little sad, I turn on your channel and enjoy your music! Your wonderful smile completes it and makes me happy again! Thanks for that! Greetings from your big fan from Germany!👍👋😀🇩🇪👣🤗
The meadowlark was my mother’s favorite bird-song. She would be about 120 now. I looked up the western meadowlark on Google, and I like your version much, much better than the lark’s !!! My mother must have heard a different bird.
How on earth do you have such skillful and wise hands? You don't even use sheet music, amazing. Thanks again. You always make me so happy when you play the piano. sender, Ode
I also enjoyed your song and loved your happy-go-lucky attitude with the laughter. Looking forward for the next one. My love to you and your family. Ps. Do you play the Banjo we see in the room? 🏜🏝🎹🪕
It just struck me about the way you turn and smile at your audience. I'd been wondering like deja vu and its only today it came to me. There was a famous ragtime piano player named Jo Ann Castle who used to be on the Lawrence Welk Show some 60 years ago. My parents used to watch her on TV every week. The thing as a teenager I remember the way she could turn her head and smile at the audience while playing -- just like you. Maybe your grandparents or greatgrandparents may remember her and possibly you've seen some of Jo Ann Castle's video clips on You-Tube.
Hello LEANDER, it's become a ritual for me: listening to a new song of yours and being in a good mood! - But still I ask myself: HOW do you do that? Listen to a piece of music once and then be able to play it without notes...? 🙄
Cute piece! I think you really were enjoying playing it as well because you sure had lots of smiles. I enjoy all your songs and so nice for you to share your talent with us!
Hey, Leander! Thank you for that happy song today. I enjoyed it a lot, and I don't think I have ever heard it until now. It reminds me of something I mentioned to you a few days ago. When you played Sweet Georgia Brown, it made me think of the Harlem Globetrotters. This song also made me think of that basketball team. I don't know that they ever used this one as a theme song, but they had a famous player on the team for a long time, and his name was Meadowlark Lemon. I guess it is just a Globetrotters kind of new year! Take care, and stay well.
Glad you’re safe, hopefully everyone in your family is safe as well. You are an excellent piano player. And at such a young age too!! Very very impressive!!
I like to imagine parts of this song are imitating the song of a meadow lark. I enjoy learning about different birds and their songs.

@@MishaSkripach Thank you for telling me that.
I will try to work hard to fix it

I am glad that you liked it again

That is really interesting that you have so many different kinds of birds
I think they must look beautiful
I have a hummingbird feeder

Every Saloon in the area should be wanting him! Did Leander just grow overnight? He looks like he had a growth spirt!
It's a lower camera angle, a good move on the part of the camera person.
So Masterfully done young Gentleman! Thank you so very much! My heart gets filled when I watch you perform and seeing the joy you show while you are doing it.

Mr.LEANDER... Thanks for the tune and your positive energy!!!
You're welcome
I am glad that you liked to hear it
Another sparkling performance. Please take care of those young growing arms, wrists and dancing fingers; don't ask too much of them.
Great piano playing. Also enjoyed your laughter while you were playing along. Thanks a lot my friend.
Well, you find the most fun songs! 😁 I enjoyed that very much! You played very well and enthusiastically
what an aptitude!
Really cool. Fun piece! Thanks Leander, you're the joyful music man! Love that you share your wonderful talent!!
I can "see" an old black and white movie of robbers chasing a stage coach. Or a silly bar brawl.
Great, Leander! It’s a little late though. Get plenty of rest. You need it for your energetic playing style! Love you ❤❤❤
Ragtime, slide-stride from a young artist! Wonderful work, Leander! 👏🏻👏🏻🎹

❤
Well done, and so uplifting!
Wonderful.
Great job, as always. I really like ragtime music. If you wore a Bowler hat, you'd be the picture of the piano player of the 20's.
Excellent tune again Leander. 👍⭐️👏👏👏👏

What a jolly rag! I could imagine a meadow park out on the fence post! So nicely done, Leander! Thanks!

Wow, I remember that, an important part of her showmanship.
I remember her too - we watched the Lawrence Welk Show with my parents almost every week when I was a child. We called JoAnn Castle “the happy lady.”
It’s amazing how many songs you know Thanks again

That is very interesting and I have never heard of that basketball player. That is a very unusual name.
Thank you for telling me about him
You always make me feel happy.
You truly are a genius. God bless you.
Does anyone know his age? Are old is he?
It's so hard to guess, because geniuses often physically mature a bit more slowly. My guess is 10.
Glad you’re safe, hopefully everyone in your family is safe as well. You are an excellent piano player. And at such a young age too!! Very very impressive!!
