Amy Beach was an amazing American composer. She was able to sing forty songs accurately when she was only one year old, capable of improvising counter-melody by age two, and she taught herself to read at age three. At age four, she composed three waltzes for piano during one summer at her grandfather's farm in West Henniker, New Hampshire, despite the absence of a piano. Instead, she composed the pieces mentally and played them when she returned home. "Fireflies" is the fourth part of her "Four Sketches." For each section she used a line from a work of literature to describe the emotions of the piece. For Fireflies, she used a line from Lamartine: "To be born with spring, to die with roses."

@@Edwin48100 He most definitely has a photographic mind. I caught that the very first time saw one of his videos. That sounds like a very complex piece, Leander, but you did an amazing job with it. I also noticed that the D a couple of octaves below middle C on your piano is no longer stuck in the depressed position, and your piano sounds great in the last couple of videos, so I’m guessing you’ve had a visit from a piano technician?

Hey, friend! I believe the musical term for a song like that is "Allegro Assai" and you played it perfectly. Whether or not I used the right terminology, I enjoyed the lively song.
Amazingly brilliant! Fantastic! Can you perhaps learn something soothing to play for us? Something we can listen to at bedtime? That would be very nice.
Still a boy, Leander means a lion among men, and I think you are aptly named. This is the first of your performances that youtube sent to my television set, and I was quickly enamored. I am working through everything, and I'm very impressed. I come from a very musical family. One of my cousins owned a piano given to her by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Her name was Emma Endres-Kountz, and she was a concert pianist. Your ability to commit so much to memory shows your innate talent, just as natural as a person like me who can sing without a score, even when it is a big work in another language. I hope that life allows you to pursue everything your mind and heart wishes for, and you get only the best encouragement as you grow. Maybe one day I'll hear you play the Overture to The Marriage of Figaro by Mozart, runs about up to 4:30, and I know that there are versions of the score made up for performance on piano. You have very special gifts, and we are all very fortunate to enjoy you sharing them with us. I wish you and your family and friends a happy and safe holiday season. Keep smiling, it brings joy to the hearts of those watching and listening, and comes from your both face and your heart. 😊
