My dad brought a 67 427 400hp coupe home in 1970. I got to drive it in high school in the late 70's. Glad I didn't hurt it. He handed it down to me in 2005. Still runs, and looks great. He's a good dad.

Memories, I had a '64 Chevy II with a 327/300hp.Bought a set of Hooker Headers for $65. Ran open headers for two weeks before I could get mufflers on the thing. Those were the days. Nothing like this beast but I bought a '91 NSX a few years ago. I turned the radio on the first day just to see if it would work, not once since.

Appreciate this driver's approach with lift-throttle shifts, spirited throttle use, catches counter-steer fluently. Drives the car enthusiastically without being abusive to the machinery (no powershifting - allows the synchros to do their job). Puts each car through its paces better than most driving vids. Betting she's great at autocross and track days as well. Keep up the great work!

His was also a big block 4 sped roadster that was a coral color with the factory side pipes. He gave me permission to road test it after any repairs and believe me I did! Around 1979 i saw a 396 chevelle in copper bronze and it was a muncie car and original.. i will never forget the sound of the cam through the big heads, the car even just off idle put you back in the seat going through the gears.. changing at 1800 the thing was like a 747 jet. i was 19, The price of fuel has killed these cars and the new LS motors can make Big Block power at low RPM with very little work. A 1 to 2 hour drive in a 454 will use 1/3 tank of fuel.

I remember thinking, "that's not so great". He took off out of the gas station, smoking the tires in the first two gears and barking them hard in the next two. I thought, "That ain't no 290 horsepower". The 60s were some fun times.

A buddy gave my a ride in his new 67- 427. A country ride, nailed it on a straight, around a curve, herd of cows crossing the road. He had both feet on the brake, the cows got bigger and bigger and closer and closer. Ended well. When he tried of adjusting valves he bought an Excalibur. The cows and the lack of brakes to match the engine was the end

I had a 1967 427/435 back in 1969. I was a kid of 19. That critter would lay rubber in every gear. Can't believe i am still alive at 74 years. I now have a 2011 vette, 6 speed gear jammer. This baby will run away and hide from the 1967. And with the air on, CD playing, and getting 25 MPG. Oh well i had fun. PEACE.

MAN does that take me back! The moonshiners from my high school days would appreciate everything about that ride; the reach for the shifter might use some improvement and maybe the driving position isn't ideal, but what a nice piece of automobiling.
Cool little town, too. Any hints to location?
I'll buy the competent and cute driver a head band and a bourbon shot.

Still chirps third when she is halfway on it. Love it. 435 hp, yeah right. There were several versions of the 427 and a "high end" would knock off the quarte mile is like 12 seconds. A new C8 with all of the electronic assists, wider tires and an aluminum block will knock it out in just under 11 secs. Yeah, I'd take this one any day.

Awesome. I know that today you can get a rental car at the airport that's quicker and faster but back in the day when gasoline was 35¢ a gallon and big block chevys ruled that was the greatest thrill you have with your clothes still on.

Nice ride, thanks for sharing. If you're going to keep the stock shifter, it never made sense to me why anyone leaves the shifter on the long throw on these cars.

I had a friend that had this same car back in 1974. Fifty years later I still am impressed with its ability to turn gasoline into raw horsepower. However, it was not the best car to have when the gas crunch hit during those years. Opened up, this monster went through gas like there was a hole in the tank.

Very nice, the Vette hasn't lost anything in all them years. In 67, it was the top in horsepower for U.S. cars. The street king. Nice video but you should have used a minute to show us the outside of the car.

OMG ! I owned a 1967 Corvette 427/ 435 hp, purchased new, retail, in Sept. 1966 .. a wonderful automobile that I enjoyed for several years until someone wanted more that I .. But, whom ever is shifting that 'Vette in this video, is shifting gears as we used to call "a Hamburger Shift' .. Meaning you could eat a burger between gears and never miss a bite ! Those rear tires should "screech" with every gear change .. at least mine did. Just sayin'
