I also cried when Naruto achieved his dream of being respected by everyone in his village! Naruto is one of the few anime characters that has legitimately always kept his word no matter what!

So jiriya was having ramen when nagato showed up and inpired him. Jiriya told minato he came up with the name naruto(the main character of the book who's name minato wanted to use) when he was eating ramen. Nagato inspired that very same book.

I think the manga did this better, but maybe the anime changed it, but supposedly if you listen carefully when they gave those flashbacks with the villagers commentating over them, at first, it wasn't super positive. It was begrudging almost. Then it slowly got better over time until it reached the point it has now. That might be why you thought it was overdone, because it seemed like the praises were repetitive, but it actually started out pretty negative. It was to say that no single point changed the villagers' minds, but it was the accumulation of all these events Naruto has been part of up until now.
megamonster1234 I'm pretty sure he did listen carefully dummy, that scene was definitely over done and even cheezy, repeating the same things Curtis already knew about Naruto and his harsh childhood, he didn't need to be reminded for the 1000th time, they could've made this scene a lot better and shorter
I think you misinterpreted my comment. Perhaps I didn't phrase it as well as I would have liked. It wasn't a criticism. I put in a comment just in case he might have missed stuff because it happens all the time when you commentate. Curtis is no exception.That's not his fault though as obviously I don't want a silent reaction either. There have been many times in which Curtis, by his own admission, only realizes stuff after the fact while editing or even later than that because he either talks over it or the train comes by. Once again, not his fault, it happens, so don't go thinking that I have an issue with the way he does things.
The only reason why I commented was that he said, "Yeah, yeah, they're praising him." which made me think he missed the early part because it implied that it was all the same but the early part wasn't as positive as it was later. The "it was overplayed" part didn't actually bother me. Heck, the first part didn't bother me either actually. I just wanted to see if I could get clarification. I know Curtis reads a lot of the comments, and he's answered/liked some of mine before, and I figured that if he though that I was wrong, he could correct me.
Also, I conceded that the anime didn't do it as well as I would have liked compared to the manga. Perhaps the tone got lost in the writing of my comment but it wasn't a criticism. It was a "btw, just in case you missed it." And if it turned out he got it but still thought it was overplayed, then that's cool with me.

In the full episode, it starts off with the villagers gossiping about how terrible he is and discrediting his achievements.

One thing I wish they had touched on is the fact Nagato is an Uzamaki. He's part of the same clan as Naruto. You would think Naruto or Nagato would have some feelings about this as they're one of the few remaining members of that clan.

This episode was such a heart warming episode. After all the struggle, pain and hardwork he went through and finally he got the respect he deserve. This is why I like this anime so much

I was really upset Konan didn't defect to the leaf. Given they took Sasuke back she could've gone there, given the leaf intel, and sealed the bodies. Then the rinnegan never would've gotten to Obito/Madara

The main reason i like the pain arc is because naruto finally got the power to fight equally against jonin+ characters, while before the pain arc he was barely stronger than sakura(not counting kurama of course)

I was hoping Konan was going to give Naruto her Akatsuki coat after she told him she was quitting. Have we ever seen what she has underneath it the entire time she's been an adult?
The beautiful part with the retrospective at the end is that it demonstrates the gradual change in the way the people of the village felt about Naruto. It typifies the entirety of Naruto's journey up until this point, showing that Naruto's first character arc of becoming beloved by the people of the hidden leaf has been completed. Now he has to save Sasuke, become Hokage, and create true peace.
This whole time, Naruto was talking to his cousin. Wild.
Pain is the most relatable villain that i ever see amazing Backstory plot and realistic Vision of the world👏

I noticed the orange clothing from day one with naruto , but when I see his eyes in sage mode the orange appears round his eyes!! The first time I watched the leaf reacting to Naruto, I was cool until Iruka started crying then I lost my shit. The story telling, character and world building and the music evokes such emotion.

I like that the color used to revive people here is the same as the color of medical ninjutsu.
Nagato....what a guy. It seemed like he was taking revenge against Leaf, but no he forgave them and moved on, his only goal was peace, just so happens Naruto is from the Leaf. To have witness your own parent's death and not only that, but to know it happened just cuz of an "oops"(really fucks up your mind btw) and still forgive people and try to seek peace only to get betrayed and have yourself wield the blade that killed a friend you considered your brother. I always like to think Nagato was thinking that he was defeated, wether he agreed with Naruto or not, his plans are like 90% ruined. This is when you know the guy is truly wants peace, instead of trying to live and find new ways(which seem impossible cuz he's sick) to make his plan work or even just do nothing and live his life. He decides the next biggest move is to throw away his life and entrust it all to Naruto, cuz at the end of the day he doesn't care about the method, the dude only wants peace.
My gripe with Kakashi's dad story is that the Konoha village is founded on putting friends and allies first but he was apparently bullied for it into suicide. Seems like a weird disconnect when we know Konoha to have the general mentality that it has.

Fun Fact:Nagato is Naruto`s cousin,his full name is Nagato Uzumaki.The Uzumaki Clan is almost entirely made up of redheads,Naruto and Boruto being the exceptions because of Minato.
'The Hero of the Hidden Leaf'- One of my most favorite episodes in the entire series. There is no parallel to this one episode. Its a closure of part of the Naruto's pain of being lonely and not being recognised by most of the village. I have rarely encountered satisfaction of this sort in any other series.
I really agree to you Sir.. Some characters have connection with each other. Which bizzarely, they share great relationships which we dont noticed. Incognitos have great contribution which i really admire in the story.
This show punches me right in the god damned feels every time.

In terms of Naruto’s retrospective flashbacks, the thing that most people love about it is the dialogue between the villagers when looking back on those scenes. I’m not sure if you picked it up during the reaction or not (since you didn’t really comment on it) but notice how the dialogue of the villagers slowly but surely changes into a more positive tone, to the point where they now respect him and want to look out for him as a fellow comrade.
This episode with your reaction reminded me how much I used to love Naruto. It all goes down from here imo. with the exception of a single Sasuke event that is coming soon.
I feel naruto should get oscar the writer scripted so neat and many years to this story.....

Konan :/ She kind of reminds of Tsunade, in the sense that she's lost the people that gave her life meaning. And much like Tsunade, she found a new source of strength in Naruto. Still, at least Tsunade didn't have to watch *both* of them die. Konan was right there, helpless to save either one of them. Damn.
That aside, it wasn't so much that Nagato was sick, it was that the huge statue you saw was feeding on his life force. That's why you saw him start to look skeletal right after it penetrated his back. It's why Konan freaked out when he summoned it. Just wanted to clear that up!
She wasn't powerless to stop Naruto. If she joined the Pains, I'm sure the fight would have gone different

well maybe i got the scene with the memories wrong ,but i understood it, that naruto gradually got more and more accepted. like he showed he´s a force to be reckoned with against Neji. and his determination to not just accept his fate. you heard first voices of concern when they couldn´t get Sasuke back. The alliance between Leaf and sand is completely written on his name, which isn´t even wrong given he´s the one who beat sense into Gaara in the first place and who helped to rescue Gaara. And now the victory over pain is the final step on his journey to his true goal. The titel of the Hokage was always a means to an end. He wanted to become the greatest Hokage of all to make people accept him. Now he´s celebrated as a hero. nobody fears the ninetails inside him. He is now the man who defeated pain. the hero of the hidden leaf. It´s at absolutel maximum this point where Naruto reached his goal. He´s to young, too naive and maybe evewn to stupid to become Hokage right now. but he obtained his true goal.
Now he has to focus on his other goals. bringing back Sasuke, protecting the leaf from the akatsuki and fullfilling his promise to nagato and Jiraya. That´s the main point of this scene. to show he achieved one of his big objectives and got a new one. It´s similar in style to what happened with Sasuke after itachis death. just that Sasuke changed a negative goal for an even more dangerous one while Sasuke swapped one good goal for an even greater goal and greatly matured in that moment he decided to face Nagato. but you´re right there is a huge vblast of character growth for Nagato there. but don´t overlook Narutos growth. naruto in the begining of the fight was blinded by anger and hatred. he just wanted to destroy nagato. but after hearing Nagato talk about the cycle of hatred he actually did realize, that killing Nagato can´t be the solution. after defeating pain he decided to hear Nagato out. and he even said "i cannot forgive you. i still hate you. i still want to kill you so badly i can hardly stand still. but still, just killing you can´t be it. Somebody needs to break this cycle of hatred. this cyle of vengeance at least" and that is a huge step naruto took there.

I loved that scene with all the villagers, I mean humility is one thing but this guy, a teenage kid, with all these dreams and people will put on his shoulders alone is just crazy.
Who doesn't want to be recognized for the contributions they make to the world if that's the case? Be respected by the village, become Hokage. It's at least halfway to achieving his own personal dream anyway.

Is actually a common thing in Asia culture because of the cycles of reincarnation that play a big role on Buddhism. Is very common in fantasy type story's you have this phenomenal event demonstrated somehow, like the dragon wish in dragon ball or the path of reincarnation from pain. Bu you can also find that in several fantasy literature from china, japan, etc. Is a different vision on reincarnation that we see here in the west with christianity. There's only one ramification of christianity that deal with that, spiritism. Is a brazilian religion today but was founded in the US if I'm not mistaken.
The reincarnation is actually a amazing tool for writing a story. There's even a whole genre for that not only in anime and manga but also novels.
I really love the Sakumo-Kakashi father-son scene. It's the only actual scene we ever get with Sakumo. (He appears in two filler episodes I think, but he doesn'T play a big role n either, I think). I would have wished for so much more of that character. For a character who appears so little I always think his impact to the show - as the one first starting the whole friends > mission think that Minato will later tell Obito about who will entrust that believe to Kakashi who'll teach it to his students - makes him probably the most important character when compared to his screen time. I know there are more important characters after all, but his is just one single very tiny decision that will shape Kakashi and everything Kakashi does from then on including how Kakashi teaches his students or how he interacts with his comrades.

It’s worth noting that Kakashi’s Dad died by suicide through Seppuku, because he abandoned the mission to save his comrades (which is why Kakashi was reluctant to save Rin in that flashback 2-Part), he’s remained in limbo waiting for Kakashi’s forgiveness since
It’s a shame if Konan did stick around, she could’ve been a valuable character to the Leaf.
It’s definitely a fantastic arc, from villain, stakes and payoff, there’s so much development in it too, but for the next canon arc the Leaf have to deal with the rest of the world’s issues to deal with, starting with Team Samui’s arrival
