Hinata's love lead to her sacrifice, which in turn gave birth to Naruto's hatred and made him understand pain.
Pain will always be a chilling villain because he proves his words with actions.
The worst part about it cause If not for Minato Naruto would be gone body and soul since his love for Hinata literally pushed him that far gone to the point that he went full nine tails and broke the seal like was nothing

@@iaminevitable3495 Yep that's exactly the point, Naruto isn't mature enough to understand love yet. He understand some complex feelings only after experiencing them for himself(like he understood familial love only with Jiraiya). He is yet to experience romantic love.
But I still think he has a soft spot for Hinata especially, he has always been careful with her in a weird way even when they are just talking.

He’s just lucky that he didn’t murder his true love, sasuke: he would have gone all 9 tails from the start.
One of the most iconic moments of the show. Animation, soundtrack all this scene is perfect. I still got goosebumps till this day.
You really gotta give props to the anime creators. This scene is much stronger in anime because of great direction. In the manga it felt much less impactful and meaningful.

@@johnsmith-ck4qt That's the point of an anime adaptation, to make the manga better. A lot of fights in the manga weren't as cool or even as emotional as they were in the anime. Some great episodes like Shikamaru grieving over Asuma's death with his dad doesn't even exist in the manga. But to call them "filler" as some people do when some of the greatest animators are working on those episodes is just ridiculous.

That quiet heartbeat and Naruto's eyes going full red is one of the most chilling moments imo.
The heartbeat change of his eyes is such a perfect way to show he "snapped". Goosebumps every time.

kakashi itachi fans get so sad over their deaths because they are hot flat out...forgetting they are ninja and its their job
...but guys do not only get sad over hinata getting stabbed because shes cute or hot..its her innocence and what she represents in the story and how she is sacrificing herself for someone else....big difference...her actually dying feels way worse...its literally naruto's ninja way and light being broken in front of him....which is why he succumbs to pain hate anger...people fail to understand one another due to hate...
@@razkable Lolwut? Kakashi and Itachi fans get sad because Itachi and Kakashi because they were nice characters. Kakashi had a fun, goofy, and serious attitude bundled into one person, and he was an amazing ninja. There wasn't much to not like about him, and that was before people actually learned about his backstory. Yeah, people may have *started out* liking him because he was hot/cool looking, but as time goes on in the anime he's shown as a genuinely likeable guy.
Itachi was just a cool character, and when he died it wasn't actually heartbreaking because not much was known about him. It wasn't until the next two or three episodes that people were actually truly heartbroken about Itachi's death.
Yeah, they're ninja and it's their job, but that doesn't mean you can't be sad about it.

some of the saddest moments in this anime are the most beautiful scenes... people think its weird that this is my favourite moment in the anime

Well, it's kinda a rabbit out of a hat kind of move. There wasn't much if any naruto hinata interaction in shippuden. So playing up her Flashbacks right before killing reeks of lazy story writing

For real! Confessions is definitely the episode that I’ve watched the most. It’s hopeful, devastating, gut wrenching, and the catalyst for Naruto to defeat Pain. A true masterpiece.
Looking at facial expression of Rana I feel really sorry for her, like she felt so much pain she became numb. But the good think is, it will get better from now on.

while i love the direction of the character after this and how it helps naruto's story come full circle that she lived and sheds him of any guilt, i kinda think her dying there in a more sennin type manga would be a top tier death for her character...just saying it would be legendary if she did die...but in the back of your mind it makes no sense for her to be dead cause shes set up to have naruto's kid so you go meh thats kinda lame if she is dead now...it is a shounen...if she died there i would be mad...not going to lie..its not a sennin so she snot set up to be tragic..shes meant to have a happy ending

total discomfort...its the type of ep you don't expect naruto to do...but is vital to knowing pain...he proved his point..naruto failed...the shock is too much..an innocent character never deserves that fate so people get mad seeing that but she chose it herself..thats the point..yes she knows the risk but so what...she can make that choice if she wants...she wants naruto to root her on and if he did instead of saying stay away maybe she saves him without getting stabbed...who knows

One of my favourite episodes ever. God I love this ark, I'm so sad they are nearly finished with this ark but happy that they are watching it at the same time
To me after this arc (and the sasuke stuff that comes next) shippuden lulls until a certain someone shows up.
This series is 3 parts and this is the end of the second part. Sasuke “avenges” his clan and Naruto is recognized as the hero of the village.
@@Aaron_Kuroiwa yeah I agree I'm not a big fan of a lot of this last 3rd but it does have one of my favorite characters and he has an amazing intro.
"Do you hate me now?" Pain had some cold as ice savage lines. That also had a deeper message behind them. One of the high points of this series.
One thing to remember. Naruto saw Pain, the one who killed Jiraya, his father Figure like Teacher wich he loved so much, instantly when he was summond in konoha. But he kept his calm and fought him with his own strenght.
He saw his Village wich was really important to him devasted by Pain. But he keept being focused.
Imediatly after seeing him he felt that Kakashi his Sensei was killed by Pain. But he still fought him as calmy as he could.
He saw Geezer Frog, who taught him and who was close to him because of Jiraya being killed right in front of him but he didnt los his temper.
But than when he saw Hinata who confessed her deep Love to him being tortuerd and killed right before his eyes he instantly went on the biggest Nine Tails Rage he ever had.
The thing he endured up to this point is massive.
Sadly, been waiting for this heartbreak to be seen by the group 😭😂

It was at this moment, Naruto realised that Hinata was far more important to him than he ever imagined. To the point he broke his promise to never use the Nine Tails chakra, just so he had a chance to kill Pain.
and kill himself....lol..but wait no he was more guilty and angry due to kakashi and jiraya and his village first then necessarily mad about hinata ..she just tipped him over the edge...he failed in his pursuit of peace and went back on his word aka ninja way so thats where its extra impactful that he showed how much her dying means narrative wise to naruto he threw his hokage dream away basically showing people he can't be trusted to be elected as hokage cause of his emotions

its the perfect character kishi set up for this moment to make us feel the pain and hate like naruto aka what pain wants..kishi was so smart here....he knew what he was doing...thats why its gotta be her...
This was week to week. When the manga came out with this chapter (Chapter 438), a significant (small, but devout) portion of the fandom destroyed their collections of DVDs Blu-rays, figures, posters, etc. They did NOT cope well with Hinata's death. Article about it can't be found. It was around March 2009.

This outcry is why Kishimoto had her retconned to just be injured because his editor, at Kodansha's request, made him because of dipping subscriptions.
Extra-Spoilers:
He had always intended to bring Hinata back, but it would be the same way Kakashi did. Publishers did not want to wait that long (9 chapters later - 2 months later) as sales might not have come back from disillusioned fans/readers.
she was a top 10 character in polls for years...i think he originally was going to not kill her once he wrote that chapter like the week it came out she was never meant to be dead like say shizune or kakashi..just my take...it was not cause he was forced to bring her back the next week after backlash..he never meant to kill her....i think what happened was kakashi's backlash scarred him off prior to that month when he died and the reactions...my thing is i think he was going to have her live but wait to show it until after naruto and nagato speak to prove nagato is not that bad and thus did not deserve to be killed by naruto....but then he realized that was too late to have sakura heal her off screen or later on or have her knocked out for a few weeks..he had to show she was moving....
I cried so hard in this episode Hinata is the definition of ride or die.
whats great is hinata shows naruto the dangers of inspiring and being so outspoken about his ideals and wanting others to follow his lead..it can lead to loved ones doing dumb stuff for you...he changed 1 person before the show started and it was her..look what happened
I think they brightened up the childhood part (Hinata's view of her childhood) because we remember our childhood days like that.. mostly which we don't remember clearly.. something like that.. the corners are also brightened

whats funny is if she died there which she didn't or she died and there was no rinne rebirth either, it would be a perfect top tier tragic death for a kids show maybe at the very top like top 2 ever...lucky its not that kind of manga..her living matters to ending naruto's arc and she still has growth to do and an important few moments after this for the themes...
It's one thing when Naruto 1v1 Pain, since he asked not to be helped. But village watching how Hinata did her best in a 1v1 and not a single soul came to help her there, that's kinda cold ...

naruto is an a week to week period some arcs were released at once but some were not pain arc was actually the most crazy one becaus they released the episode's as they were made (mange got released an hour before production they took 6hours per episode) and after the production they started to brainstorm toghether for the next arcs
It was week-to-week, fam. Japanese dub, filler episodes + hiatus (plural). Started before I entered highschool, and still wasn't finished by the time I graduated.
This situation is probably the number one cause of people reading manga. If you wanted to know what happened next, you had to read it; there was no other option.
This moment reminds me so much of Mikasa backing Ereh between a battle ground, and him unlocking a power just like Naruto to save her. One of the most iconic moments in this series.
I remember reading this shit in the manga when it released and being amazed. The whole arc was amazing to read, and even more entertaining watching it animated. The Pain arc is probably my second favorite arc in the entire series, so fucking good.

I was just really fascinated with Rana's face after the ending of this episode. So many questions filled my head.
Every manga reader felt that pain when the chapter was released back in 2009
Especially the way the chapter before that ended on her confession. It was so beautiful. I gotta say even though the anime is great, there are some moments in the manga that unfortunately nearly impossible to replicate.
She was one of my favourite character! Hope she had more screen time!

I watched while deployed. Only watched batches when my ship pulled in. This was the worst cliffhanger for me. No follow up for a month. So my reactions were alot like yalls

I genuinely can argue about naruto's plot with every hater with dialogs and scenes . For example we hear that " why kakashi immediately unlocked his perfect Susanoo , against kaguya ?? " . Kakashi explained himself one minute after his Susanoo's reveal . He said , gaining six paths Chakra enhances one's visual prowess to this degree ... . He got the six paths Chakra and the ms from obito and immediately unlocked his Susanoo . Remember the time indra immediately got his perfect Susanoo just because of having hagoromo's Chakra ... . Anyway , having black zetsu as the ultimate minuplater was unsatisfying but a good call by the writter ... . ( if you read the aot's ending , u can easily differ a bad written ending with naruto ... )
i guess pre internet pre 2010 this stuff was brutal and maybe most people are naive innocent but the media i have seen online and made thats darker makes this look like kiddy stuff..we don't even see her get stabbed lol...but most people do not expect that in a kids show and usually are prepared for that stuff when they look it up...here its a built up character so its shocking to see...
As much as I can never finish Shippuden all the way through, that Hinata scene was directed and edited perfectly.

This show came out week to week, it took years. I watched it all through high school and college. Pain was released when I was in college and you had to wait week to week.
Hinata easily best girl in Naruto. This chapter/episode broke me when I was younger.

she did not confess in the normal sense..naruto thought because of the tone and way she said it that she meant it as a friend that she cared for him not a true i love you like a husband would say to his wife in japan...she also barley did if you notice her back is turned to him when she said it and she whispered...so...

@@razkableYa but fav fights and fav episodes differ for me i love the fights but this was built up just as much as sasuke vs itachi my fav fight i just love things like this string u tiny threads to start getting more and more little morsoles of info basting the viewers eyes for 100s of episodes to the point that u almost think it cant possibly have a good enuff payoff and finnaly getting more then u could ever want build up done well like that is just beautiful to me
It's like going to office everyday to be shocked, depressed, cry and be miserable for the rest of the week these past few episodes. 😭

Six reactors, six stages of speechless, amazement, and pain(?). This episode's closing scene never fails to get a smile out of me.
Sometimes Mickey can be annoying when great emotional scenes are happening because he's so determined to get an unnecessary try-hard joke in, just stop.
The dubbed episodes might have been released on a daily schedule in large batches/arcs but the orginals are week to week.

@@axxel4888 Hinata is the exception, she's better than a lot of other male characters like Lee and Neji too because she has a relatable/grounded and continuing character arc.
@@uchihadara5637 I actually prefer Lee and Neji, they could’ve been amazing characters if they were more present in Shippuden. I’m gonna be honest and say that I really don’t see the appeal in characters like Sakura and Hinata. Sure, they might appeal to and be relatable to some people in some way, but to me they’re just two characters who are in one way or another obsessed with two characters who don’t actually care for them for most of the story
I could be wrong, but I remember waiting week to week for the subs to come out, even in Shippuden.
