I love the AG2R kit, it inspired me to try out a set of brown bib tights this winter, and I'm loving it. Covers up the road grime and I no longer have to stop riding to find a public toilet after triple-espresso cafe stops, very convenient.
I'm always a big fan of EF and I like this one too. That FDJ kit is very classy. If I was Bahrain, I'd be pissed off at Ineos for,, basically, stealing their design. Finally, the Bora design for this year and 2022, has been very nice.
Thank goodness Bora, JV and EF exist. Otherwise the entire peloton would be a collection of blue, red, white and black. (The yellow stain on the IWG jersey was clearly an accident)
israel and inter both use that instagram design guy highly overrated, rest of the peloton could take a hint from JV and American sports
The swirls on the Arkea kit actually looks like triskelions, a Breton symbol (Arkea being a french bank from Brittany). So a nice reference.

Yep. Would never wear that in my life but I can't see a WT peloton without this kit in it, it's slowly becoming a bit iconic. Also they refined it and do really well given the difficult color to work with.

I think EF looked best with navy and pink. The green bibs were terrible and black is a bit boring. You’re right about that black giro kit though. Why wouldn’t they always wear that? And no, I wouldn’t buy any team kit. Who wants to be a moving billboard for a bunch of random companies?
I'd wear a team kit if they paid me. :) otherwise, no. Only pro kits I wear are long defunct teams from the steel days when I ride my steel bikes on retro rides.
@@johnandrews3568 Old kits are cool. Even like 2-3 year old kits are fine in my book. But current season kits only for pros imo, so its easy to spot them on the road. Sorry rapha.

Good to see that EF didn’t stick with the ‘got stuck behind a fertiliser truck’-look from last season. 😅The two different socks seem lovely compared to the design wreck that was the previous kit though I wouldn’t be surprised if they were to drop them at some point.

@@felixwagner3152 I just really didn’t like the green bibs with the pink, and the jersey looked like they’ve been sprayed with fertiliser or been run over by a truck.

Arkea's swirls are a nod to Celtic triskelion. The team has Breton roots and people there are really proud of their region and their Celtic cultural heritage

EF Giro 21 Palace no-pink-no-problem kit was the best in the past 20 years, easily. Channelling Piet Mondrian is always a sure fire win.

I agree Cofidis is number one. A little too much blue this year, and red. I can't say worst...a few are mediocre... ;D

I believe right and left socks for pro riders are labelled anyway (R and L socks should be slightly different, i believe), so the colour of the EF one should not really matter that much.
Most regular sport socks are labeled anyway
Pearl Izumi was doing the L & R labeling for socks, but then they stopped. I also have Castelli, Swiftwick, Shimano and Smartwool socks, and none of those are labeled for left and right.
I have basic Decathlon socks and they are labeled, and a friend of mine who is into badminton told me that it is very common. Strange that even "high end" cycling brands don't do it.
The secret in foot specific socks is that it concentrates wear and makes the socks wear out twice as fast as opposed to putting each sock randomly to left or right foot. It's a Big Sock industry dirty trick to extract more money from consumers.
Fight the power! Put the left sock on yer right foot!

Love the change in the EF kit, last year's was just meh with the camo offerings and put me off when looking at them through Rapha's site.
Jumbo Visma I think are going to stay with their same camo offering for the TDF, don't see any reason why that'd change. They got lots of talks about it during the event and it worked then so no reason to change it up.
The red jerseys, kits are about trying to be distinguishable so when a bunch of the teams try to become distinguished by going red it just backfires when they realize the others had the same idea. Red I think works really well from trying to integrate consumer buying power compared to other colors.

I still think the best kit in the last 5-10 years was Europcar, clean classy and totally stood out from the rest of the peloton. I agree, in isolation, Groupama-FDJ is attractive but too many teams have similar colours.

I've never liked EF's kits, but I like this one. The pink looks better without the other colors they were using with it in the past. I'd put Cofidis in the #1 spot. Simple, effective, and doesn't look like a copy of everyone else.
I wish Movistar would go back to the green M. It's so much more boring in white.
I still like on the BORA kit, that it has this red stripe around the belt. Therefore, it is always easy to recognize a BORA rider, even though with B&B Hotels in the race or something with similar green.
Ineos should race in racing green
Bahrain and Bora are my two main favourites. Ineos kit is an improvement but feels a bit too boring compared to others. Movistar is nice although would be nice to have some brighter blue
Cofidis definitely killed it, and the Arkea kit looks svelte
Definitely wish we had a bit more diversity with color, there's no orange, no purple and really no green. Hard to understand how kits aren't better these days ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Euskaltel Euskadi team has been using orange all the way back from 2002...
The swirl on the Arkea kit is called a triskelion. Not sure exactly but I think it is some Ancient Greek gang sign. It's one of my favourites, but I think the FDJ kit is my no.1 this year even though it will get lost in the crowd. EF is the worst with four different shades of pink. Pink and black is usually a stand out combo, but that is just an eyesore.

Bahrain Victorious didn't change their kit...but they did change their kit. It's funny that LR didn't see the change in the BV video. I like the new one better.

Ineos kit is nice enough, but they've really struggled to develop a visual brand identity since changing sponsor
The Grenadier has that nice looking upside down V logo. They should use more of that. (And ditch the Bahrain sleeve, obviously.)
My favorite is Bora, love the black and blue green color fields. The worst is EF, well described LR. I’d be too embarrassed to ride in a pro kit in Santa Barbara where several pro’s and former pros train.

I have a pissei without a zipper. Best shirt I have ever had. (Although it does not look nice.) But - pea-say. Nothing to do with a toilette break. I liked the old Cannondale, or the old SunWeb, or the old Peugeot.

EF's kit is easily the best this year. I like it a lot better than last year's. Cofidis second, AG2R third, FDJ fourth.
The Intermarche kit looks like the reason my wife won't let me do the laundry.

UAE kit is straight to business, same with trek
Not all QuickStep riders riding the sponsor-correct chamois in the shot where they can be seen from behind. For me, the Castelli chamois is one of the worst, too. 😅
EF is my favourite but still not as good as their 2021 kit. I hope they have matching bright and dark arm and legwarmers to make it even more entertaining.

Agree with you.... EF faded pink looks washed and 2colors of socks?? InterM Circus.. no; will miss FDJ's kit, tho Blue is nice looking.. just too many Blues....too many reds. Guess the first few races will be a challenge to learn who is who. NOW, equal time to Pro Team kits. I'd buy TE's kit 💗
The socks are likely fitted for each foot like soccer socks are. They have little L or R on the toes.
Yeah, none of these kits are particularly "buy worthy." You're right about the sameness of the colors, but I think some bolder geometry might help that. This completely dates me, but my favorite kits would be the Renault/Super U, Z, and La Vie Claire.
Also, shorts that go all the way to the knee (show us the quads!) and sleeves that go to the elbow look dorky as hell. Same with socks that go halfway up the calves. Is the peloton trying to look like they're in a high school PE class circa 1982?
I don't know, to me it's your sentiment that seems dated, as far as I can tell most people today seem to dig long bib shorts and sleeves. That's what I see on the road. It's mostly people born 1975 and earlier wearing the short bib shorts etc.

What I want to know is do teams never coordinate to avoid these situations ? It's getting ridiculous this year. Way too many teams have way too similar kits, it's going to be so annoying watching races on TV, trying to understand which rider is which.
On a side note, my top 3 is Bora (I think it's still classy), Cofidis (what's there to say, perfect) & EF (although indeed better last year), worst 3 Jayco (looks straight from the 90's, why is the sewing blue on white, revolting), Intermarché (agree with your comment, the "splash" thing on the front looks like a stain), and a tie between Jumbo and UAE for 3rd worst.

I like Cofidis and Arkea is nice. I'm surprised there's no Bianchi Celeste incorporated into their kit because red and celeste go together well. I wish Groupama had some white in their kit as in previous years, but then they'd look more like Soudall, or rather Soudall would look like the old FDJ kit. So clearly dark blue is the new black. Kudos to Jumbo for the yellow/black - still a damn shame they ride Cerv-HELL-NO bikes.

I was so happy I finally found a way to disagree with you when you started praising the Cofidis kit ... but then I agreed with all the other comments. Shit. Best must be EF. Second Ineos although their orange training kit is much better. Third Israel?
WEhat is wrong with having purple, or orange, or a basic green as the main colors on team jerseys ? A little something to make teams stand out in the peleton. I like the Jumbo jerseys because they immediately jump out of the group.

LR still rocking his Chrissy PJ's. Love your work bro! Intemarche should have stayed with the bold yellow bands, so easy to spot. Too much dark coloring very similar Movistar, FDJ now. Bahrain so close to Ineos now. Not a great deal of innovation. I agree the strong simple colors are the best, easy to see when watching. Jumbo, just black and yellow, UAE black and white, is boring but good for watching.
