Hi!! I just got my first monstera peru yesterday and your video is so helpful! I couldn't help but notice some white specs on your leaves (at 0:44) and i also notice that my plants have them too! I was wondering if thats normal/ pests/ just dust?I
Beautiful monstera Peru . How fast do they grow. I found 4 inch pot with 3 leaves for very, very good price but I don’t want to wait forever for the full plant. I did some research but one website said fast growing and other slow growing plant 🙄
Thank you! I'd say it's a decently fast growing plant, especially if it's in the right conditions. I'd say a bit slower than pothos. I have heard getting it to root takes ages though. So if you plan on propping, it may take a while. If the small pot is a good price I'd say go for it.
3 yrs after this vid, Peru’s have gone up in price this year, I bought a lil 2 rooted cuttings last year for 12$, now a fuller plant is 40-50$ in southern bc Canada! But I adore my slow growing lizard back leaved plant!
I love them so much! I got one last summer and it has slowly yellowed its leaves and dropped them. I think I’ll try to give it less light as it dose get a bit of direct sun right now. Has yours ever yellowed?
mine kept growing new leaves but all bottom leaves kept turning yellow. It’s really weird, i had to reroot it again even if the roots were not even rotten
I had mine in water, during the summer, for 4 months & got zero root growth. I moved them into a perlite prop box & within 2 weeks there were enough roots to pot it up. Once it established in the pot, growth has been dependable at a moderate rate. Mine was prone to sending out long runners. I’m still not certain why. But I suspect it was getting too much light & was trying to “escape” with its runners. I say this because it looked chlorotic all over. I reduced the light & it’s very dark green now & hasn’t sent out as many long runners
Love your plants.... Which plants would you say are good with low light or just grow lights. My bedroom has 2 windows but closed up for the winter. I normally keep my bedroom lights on which have grow bulbs and humidifier as well.
Thanks! Low light plants are a bit of a myth. They're more so plants that will take a long time to die gracefully 😂 But if you have enough grow lights you should be fine for things like pothos, philodendron, monstera, cast iron plants, sansevierias, scindapsus, and many others. I would suggest maybe getting a couple of grow lights to put closer to the plants though as the lights might be a bit far to be much use if they're overhead metres away from the plants. Good luck!
I’ve heard they actually don’t do well with water propagation, I tried a couple times anyway but with no luck, so idk if I’d recommend that (and def wouldn’t compare it to water propagating a pot his, those are super easy) ..I’m attempting to prop a cutting in a ziplock bag with perlite since someone had told me they had luck that way.
My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE houseplant I own 🥰 I want to try and have mine bush/shrub in a large wide pot eventually. I think a Monstera Peru bush would be GORGE 💜💜💜
I found one last year in Sainsburys but it died a death because it was completely overwatered by them and I couldn't save it. I have a one leaf cutting from it with very little stem doing nothing. I'm hoping it will do something soon.
@@GoodGrowing Just an update that it's pushing out a new growth point now. :) I put it under a grow light and it seemed to help since we've been having pretty bad weather recently
Thanks for the info honey I just got a couple of leaves Thought I was going to need to water propagate but it came Ready rooted in coir. Planning to grow and to be more bushy 🪴🥰
Mine has 4 leaves and a friend gave it to me. I noticed that it hasn’t turned yellow but if you hold the leaf to the light, it has yellow spots?!! What does that mean?
Idk about they're not being expensive. I just bought one and it cost me $30 for a tiny plant. It was standing in water when I got it. Hope it doesn't have root rot. There are some yellowish spots on a couple of leaves. Crossing my fingers it will do well for me.
It probably depends where you're located. At least in the UK they're pretty available at the moment, so not that expensive. I hope yours bounces back well! I'm sure it's in better hands now!
It’s a beautiful plant, Emma! Thanks for sharing yours with such great tips. I 💚 that it is unique, special, and “rare” but don’t cost an arm and a leg. I wonder how this plant will do in LECA.
I need someone to define “dry” because dry to me is bone dry I guess. If it’s cool to the touch (indoors) that’s moisture so not dry. I waited until dry (true dry) on the surface, not even 1” much less 2” and I had dry tips or I’d have waited the 2” dry. I’m finding this plays out for most any plant I have. Mostly. Then I have random plants that if I watered that soon they’d be rotting. Maybe I just need to change up the soil mix.
Hi! I’ve had Peru cuttings in water for ages now, nothing happening. How long does it take to grow roots? Does it matter how deep they are in the water?
Because it's been winter it's going to take much longer than it would if it were spring/summer. But you need the nodes to be in water in order for them to root
my stepdad got me one of these as a gift because he knows i love plants but i have no idea how to take care of it so thank you so much
Love me a Peru ! The texture and dark green foliage is divine - like a dragons skin 😍🌱
YES!! Exactly like dragon skin! what a perfect description!
Thank You for talking about the Monstera Peru I have 3 and I've never had them before so "New Peru Mom" here...❤
I just got one! She’s in an east facing window and is sprouting two new leaves. Love her!
Ah that's perfect!
I was curious about this plant. It’s so pretty. Thanks for such an informative video. 🫶
The texture of the leaves reminds me of seersucker fabric. Gorgeous.
That’s the best monstera Peru on RUclips
Indeed!
It’s one of my favorite plants. Your specimen does look very very good!
Just got this pretty plant.... Thanks it was really clear guidance💚🫶
I always think of the leaves as corrugated. I have three and love them!
I've literally been checking the UK shops a couple of times a week waiting for people to get these into stock. So funky.
Fingers crossed you can find one soon!
Beautiful plant ❤
just rescued one from the plant shop death plug, excited to get to know this plant!!
Just got this gorgeous beaty; thanks for the chill and clear guide. =)
It's the Philodendron Peru. I love it too.
It's so beautiful 😍! Tks for the video.
Checking in! Love Peru! 🌿🕺🏾
💚love this especially how you described the leaves🐲
I got a few days ago a Peru. Beautiful
Perfect timing I just got one through Walmart online I can’t wait for it to come!!! Great care video
@@RachelsIndoorGarden your channel looks awesome just subscribed
Ahh amazing! I hope you're enjoying your new plant!
The ones from Walmart have terrible soil
@@mwoods4608 true….it was in coco coir. It didn’t mind it for a few months but it outgrew that pot really quickly and I replaced it 👍
Very nice monstera Peru💚🌿🌱
Thank you

Mine put out crazy runners with no leaves over the winter. Will these ever grow leaves or should I just use the nodes to propagate?

I've personally only noticed yellowing when I don't water consistently... but mines not in a very bright spot
mine kept growing new leaves but all bottom leaves kept turning yellow. It’s really weird, i had to reroot it again even if the roots were not even rotten
Mine is taking ages to root! Hopefully with the change in weather it will be quick now!!
Oh yeah rooting over winter will take a while for sure! Hopefully spring helps! good luck
Yeah, the cuttings take forever to root. The growth is on the slow side. But it’s worth ist.

Awesome video

I have one coming so I love your video. I would love to see a Adansonii Laniata video😃
Such beauty😊

@@GoodGrowing it might take a few years but I'm up for the challenge 😈🤣 😤😏
You said that really fast. What is the white stuff in the bottom of your pot?
For fungas knats?
Diatomaceous earth 😉 I’ve got a whole video about it
My new leaves are rotting. What should i do. Perhaps you can share some advices
Oh no! when that has happened to me before in plants it's typically some sort of pest issue
EMBOSSED!!! EMBOSSED is the word u are looking for!! :) EMBOSSED leaves!!

You should keep the bottom trailing and have the top climb!!! That'd look sick.
Oooooh like a planty mullet! Business in the back, party in the front!

Hmmm that sounds like some sort of pest damage to me.. have you checked it for spider mites or thrips?

Hey, is there a particular type of water that Peru Mons. Need ?
I use tap water 🤷🏻♀ hasn't been an issue for me yet!
I just got a cutting and hopefully the node roots somewhat quick lol 😂
This is funny, my plant is labelled as "Epipremnum pinnatum" but I swear it's the same plant. I'm so confused about plant names!

Pilea involucrata pan am had similar leaves just smaller

Love this! Had no idea Peru's were so toxic for both humans and pets! With a baby on the way I may rethink buying one! 🤭
Yeah... as long as it's out of reach it shouldn't be an issue... could keep it high up?
Please do the orange marmalade philodendron
I highli recomet to let her climb. If you let her klimb you will get bigger leavs. If you let her hang she produzes moore but smaler leavs 😊
Thanks! I've put her on a moss pole since this and I do think she's happier!

hi! I really love your monstera peru, so green and bushy.
Please help me to save mine, its in leca balls.
its turning to yellow the other leaves but there's one leaf coming out too.
Oh no! It's kind of hard to tell without seeing a picture. Maybe I can better help if you sent me a DM on IG
The ones from Costa have only pet soil..
My is not growing 😳2 months still 4 leaf 🍃 so sad😫😫😫😫
these can be SUUUUPER slow growers
This plants will not like to trail at all. The leaves will be getting smaller and smaller and at one point it will only be a stem.
Yeah that's what was happening to mine. I've sine put it on a moss pole and its loving it!
Also bathroom has no windows
Unfortunately nothing will grow in no light. So I'd say fake plants?
I call it Jurassic, like dino skin
