    4. That's good you were able to extend your visas.

Thanks for watching jaws2003. Yes, the PCR test is 'the cost of doing business'. However if you are planning on visiting Costa Rica or Honduras afterwards (and are fully vaccinated in the case of Honduras) then you won't need to get the PCR test in NIcaragua. There isn't a large supply of airbnbs in NIcaragua, however we did one bedroom airbnb studios for around US$30 a night, particularly around San Juan Del Sur.

I drove there from Alabama and stayed a year. My monthly expenses included US$10 per month for the car permit, US$28 for the monthly visa renewal (after the initial 3 month visa had expired). Insurance on a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria was US$12 per month. Cell phone cost was US$5 and change every 15 days. Gasoline/petrol cost more by volume than in Alabama but for the amount of driving I did there, was actually cheaper. I must admit I didn't travel much, but I enjoyed more than my fair share of cigars for quite the reasonable amount, including bumping into an American who had just begun a factory and invited me over to be a tester of experimental blends. I returned to the US for some personal business as I am a US Veteran, but am planning to return before the end of 2024.

Hi Viviana, we are so glad to hear that you've found our videos helpful! Funnily enough our only experience with food poisoning was when we did it to ourselves when we ate our own leftovers. We regularly ate street food, as well as the tap water in most cities, and had no issues at all. That said, we had 18 months in Nicaragua and then 2 months before that in Central America, so we probably had plenty of time for our stomaches to adjust. Our tip if you want to be on the safe side, just eat street food that is cooked in front of you. If you eat meat, make sure you don't miss trying the fritangas! Have a great trip!

Hi Yousef, glad you found the video useful and thanks for watching! The cost of apartments will vary depending on where you are staying and the size of apartment/house. In Granada we saw apartments for as low as US$250 a month and US$600 a month would get you a 3 bedroom house with a pool. Electricity is an expense you need to watch for as it is very expensive in Nicaragua and can easily exceed US$100 a month if you use airconditioning. Hope this helps!

We haven't heard of any issues previously regarding not having the right covid information to leave the country. That said, we have seen plenty of stories around the difficulties of flying generally into and out of Nicaragua since the pandemic started, due to flights getting cancelled regularly. Hopefully this issue has settled down in 2022. The easiest way to get into the country in recent times has been to fly to Liberia in Costa Rica and then travel across the land border.

Hello. Can you bring your drone in Nicaragua ?

Hi Philippe, unfortunately it is illegal to bring drones into Nicaragua. We know of people who have done this, but we wouldn't recommend it. Things do get confiscated at customs.

Hi everyone! I'm glad to know you guys enjoyed your time living here. Nicaragua is the cheapest country in central america when it comes to food (kinda crazy the veggies and fruits you can get for $10), transportation and accomodation. It is safe, but is not perfect. We have a lot of issues we need to work on but you can definitely have a lot of fun with less money in comparison with the other countries of the region such as Costa Rica or Panama. You're all welcome!

Hi Daniel, thanks for watching and for your comments. Nicaragua was wonderful and so welcoming of us during our time there. You are right, you can have a lot of fun without breaking the bank. We miss Nicaragua dearly, it was perfect enough for us!

Did you eat the street food or mainly in restaurants? I guess it is relative to what you know too. In our home of Australia you would pay US$3 for one pataya, however in Nicaragua, you could get them for US$0.30!
