A few months ago, he made a post on instagram claiming that he’s bigger than Taylor Swift, so it’s safe to say he hasn’t learned anything over the past 4 years
My buddy’s band was opening for Trapt at a small venue in the Midwest in the mid 2010’s. Despite the small stage, Trap had these large banner things on stage (not equipment, basically just signs). The lead singer for my buddy’s band was talking to the crowd in between sets and said “There’s not a lot of room, I feel like I’m *Trapt* up here!”. This enraged Chris Brown who ran from back stage and demanded that the sound guy end their set. Sound guy calmly declined and told him to chill out.
Damn. I actually remember going to one of their shows and enjoying it. Then all the social media stuff started happening and I was like, “Yeah I think I’m done with this band.” Shoutout to a local band who was there that evening, Palm Trees in Moscow, who sounds like a 90s grunge band and whose frontman was so ecstatic when I bought their album that he gave me two instead; I gave the other one to my brother. It’s a good record, for what it’s worth, and I still spin it every now and then. I’m also glad I didn’t also buy Trapt’s album that evening.
Before Chris Taylor Brown became the Ted Nugent or Kid Rock of post-grunge, Trapt was doomed to fail after their major label debut. They make Nickelback and Creed look like musical gods. Even by bottom of the barrel post-grunge standards, they were super generic even for the time. They took what Breaking Benjamin did and watered it down so much. Nearly every song off of that self-titled was a reworking of Headstrong. At least Nickelback and Creed have a few hits people still remember to this day. Trapt only has Headstrong that people remember.
Strangely enough I came across Headstrong in the radio the other night and it got me thinking as to what happened to Trapt because after that overrated song there was a whole lotta nothing. So this answers a lot of questions for me and makes me happy that after that one hit they never again found success as they deserve nothing but failure.
You know when a band has truly fallen off when like they’ve gone from selling arenas or large concert venues to being that live band your standard pub has for the live music that essentially just plays covers and nobody knows at all. Also, imagine being a big band that falls off so hard that nobody likes you at all and you barely can sell an album now like even Ronnie Radke isn’t that bad like yeah, he’s a POS and has been rightfully hated for it but like he still has a considerable fanbase like even if nobody listened to his new stuff, people will still come to see him for the stuff from Falling In Reverse’s early stuff which is pretty nostalgic for people who were around that era. Meanwhile, Trapt has just one song that everyone knows and Chris Brown just can not accept that they’re irrelevant and that he’s probably one of the main factors why the band has become so forgettable.
The thing is, I do think that CTB has every right to believe whatever he wants to believe even if it's stupid. Free speech is, has, and always will be a 2-way street, but that's something it seems he has yet to realize. None of this would have happened if he had only kept his ego in check and didn't act so overaggressive towards people irrespective of how mocking and incendiary they might have been towards him. If he did that, I don't think a majority of people would have cared that he's a Trump supporter and just disagreed and moved on- at least that's what I would have done. Personally, I think it was all a coping mechanism on his part because he knows how washed up he is, and you can't help but feel a little bad about that. But, this is the bed he chose to make, and now he has to lie in it. He probably hasn't washed the sheets in years...
True story - standing in line to get an autograph for a band I really like and the Trapt singer is walking around signing tickets. I'm holding mine and old boy just takes it outta my hand and signs it. 😅 Ruined it. I'm just like , "I didn't want that? " lol
It's sad because, after 2003, I forgot they existed. When the media said "popular nu metal band lashes out on socials" I thought it was like Korn or Deftones. Once I saw it was Trapt, I was like who? It was odd, because I heard 5fdp did the same. There's a few bands that when I heard went to parlor I just didn't care because I either A) grew out of them for better or B) never really listened to them to begin with but heard people play them time to time. The worst part was when me and others hear headstrong, we felt like they had no other songs. Breaking Benjamin and so many others clearly dwarfed them and I don't remember seeing Trapt with anyone without thinking Trapt was like a cover band for someone else. Truth is, some bands you grow out of, Trapt is one of them. If anyone asks you to name 5 songs from an old band you stopped listening to, you could, but be honest... You can only really name one for Trapt. On the bright side, to me it's rather ironic the band's name is what the lead singer did to their reputation; trapped it.
I saw this guy attack LGBT Facebook users in real time. They didn't say anything to start this, he just came onto their page and started giving them shit. There have been several Facebook groups that have mocked him and the band brand for a while now because of how he's acted towards LGBT people. He deserves the results of his actions, and has no one to blame but himself.
There is a brewery in the town I live that occasionally has concerts or events, and they booked a tour where Trapt was one of the bands on the bill, but said they will only host the event if Trapt doesn't play this show. I guess all parties agreed to that and when Trapt found out they had an all out online brawl with this brewery. It was hilarious, but also pathetic.
Everyone has that band everyone hated but they liked. For me Trapt was that band... but after the shit I have seen from them (most notably Chris) I do not want anything to do with them anymore. they have been completely unlisted and disposed of. Liking the band for the music that might be shit to a majority is one thing, but you cannot excuse the stuff they have said and thats where I draw the line. Plenty of other 'bad band' favourites I can enjoy who are not pieces of shit. Trapt deserve all the consequences of their actions. Also keep up the good work Luke :)
I actually liked Trapt's music between 2002-2010, when Simon Ormandy, Aaron Montgomery and Robb Torres were still in the band. That was their best period. After they all left, the songwriting took even more of a nose dive and I just stopped listening to them.
They're a good example of why insecurity and social media are such a toxic mix. I doubt he believes half of what he posts but he feels the need to double down when called out. Look at how much damage he did to Trapt so quickly. I'm impressed they're being booked at all now
How is this video not 2 hours long?! 😂 Chris Brown (the Voldermort of names in music) just barfs out endless material to use as proof for the downfall.
Honestly I always skipped Headstrong when it was played on Spotify or Apple Music because “this isn’t an artist I know or anyone I want to listen to” and I don’t think I missed out on anything.
In a better world, Trapt's other songs would've enjoyed a much larger degree of success, and they would've gone on to enjoy a fruitful career on a similar level as some of their peers like Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace.
It's sucks how much of an ass clown that Chris T. Brown turned out to be. Especially when the hook for Headstrong is incredibly infectious... Literally... It's stuck in my head now, please send help.
What killed Trapt? Well a one hit wonder band who could never make another hit after that and pretty much just went far right and made creep comments that got him blacklisted. Jared Dines did a deep dive on Trapt, and one big quote he said is perfect, “just because you can say whatever you want, doesn’t mean you should.”
They had multiple charting songs . This guys mad cause he thinks someone didn’t approve of that fact he likes wieners . He made a video ripping a band and got 1,200 likes while the band he’s ripping has millions lol
So it's about 2017 or 18 and I'm hanging out with some friends in Cromwell CT. It's just as small as it sounds. We go to the local Buffalo Wild Wings for some drinks in the local strip mall. We get up to the door and strangely they're charging a cover for entry. Trapt was playing. Far be it for me to sh*t on how they make their money, but I'm like, "Damn. Trapt is doing a B-dubs gig!?". 😬
Jared Dines did a full discography livestream regarding Trapt, having just done Nickelback. They sucked so bad, I said "this is how you remind me how bad Trapt really am."
I went to two smaller live shows this year (bands if anyone wants to know: Mannequin Pussy in April and a newer band called Rivals in June) and I feel that both shows (singular and even combined) had more fans in attendance than that TRAPT set photo.
My favorite Chris vs The World tweet was when he threaten, of all people, Danny fucking Diablo. Danny was arrested for attempted murder, by beating a guy so badly, after that man stabbed Danny in the neck with a screwdriver.
He would probably get beef with Varg Vikernes as well. You know, the guy who murdered the bass player of his band and spent 22 years in prison for the arson of 2 churches.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino actually Varg is a white supremacist, so he might actually like Chris, but Varg would say that Chris makes terrible music that only “weak minded nationalists” would listen to.
These Downfall Videos are amazing and informative. Keep them coming!...although I think Resurgent/Rebirth videos as a counterpoint would be interesting. For example: what is it about Creed that made them pariahs in 2004 and how after they now selling out Cruise Festivals 20 years later? Or how Metallica survived St. Anger or how the RHCP survived One Hot Minute?
One of the highlights of my music career was earlier this year playing in our hometown of San Jose, CA on the same night as Trapt was playing across the street on tour and pulling a much larger crowd than them
It sucks because I actually unironically liked these guys. Headstrong was nostalgic for me as it reminded me of a really pleasant time in my childhood, and I rediscovered them back in late high school. Sure, they were far from my favorite, but IMO they had a few solid songs. Then the 2016 nonsense started, and it was all downhill from there. I had to finally draw the line at CTB’s “defense” of inappropriate teacher-student relationships, and deleted all their songs from my library, because I couldn’t justify listening to them without ignoring all that.
Ironically, those two albums "Self-titled" and "Someone In Control," are the only albums Trapt ever released on a major label, through Warner Bros Records.
I met him back in 2015 and he gave me the ick back then. You can even tell how uncomfortable I am even being near him in the photo. Plus, St Joe MO is pretty bigoted so the fact that even there it’s a small crowd when I saw him in Springfield MO and it was 4x bigger but also had TROY, Stitched Up Heart, and Like A Storm as a line up, it says A LOT. We left during Trapt’s set and we weren’t the only ones.
Trapt sucks so much that I deleted an entire fully completed cover of Headstrong that I had recorded as soon as I saw what their online presence was like. I deleted the cover and the two Trapt mp3s that remained on my computer. I used to believe in separating art from the artist, but sometimes the artist is just too much of a c word to give the time of day.
Unfortunately: while it is true that CTB running his mouth is a large part as to why there's no demand for TRAPT in this rock nostalgia bubble era we're in the midst of.............the commercial success of Falling In Reverse this year including a f***in' #1 hit that even managed to get some minor Mainstream Top 40 airplay nonetheless proves other acts can still be critic-proof regardless of how horrible one or more of its members are. 🤷♀
This song worked great for making fun of my friend's mom: Tim's Mom will take you on Tim's Mom will take on anyone I know that you're Tim's Mom And this is not where you belong
When Trapt came through Tampa earlier this year, my band was tapped to be an opening act. I found only a fraction of the stuff you've expertly compiled into this video and said no. Thanks for making this video for other bands to more easily learn what's up with this trash.
Of course, Luke put in the Psychostick's "Headstronk." It made my night. That's still my ringtone. Also, thanks, Luke, for the eye bleach at the end of the video.
I once commented on a trapt post or something that came across my feed somehow and actually tried being somewhat empathetic saying “it’s beginning to not even be worth making fun of him and makes you wonder if he actually needs help with mental health” of course ol CTB himself had the time to take major offense to that so I guess it is still funny to dog on him. Lmao
I actually liked this band from their period of 2002-2010, when Simon Ormandy, Aaron Montgomery and Robb Torres were still in the band. That was their best period in my eyes.
@DevonArcherOsborne Awesome, nice to hear that. 2010's "No Apologies" was their final album I'd actually consider to be good. That one had some really awesome and underrated songs, plus Johnny K's production was super polished and smooth.
I do have the self-titled and Someone in Control. I do think the latter album is better, my favorite songs are “Lost Realist” and “Disconnected.” I also do have some songs from Only Through the Pain and No Apologies. They just after a while got old quickly and I found other bands that were better (even within the post grunge genre). After a while I just did not pay attention to them until the pandemic and Brown’s rants. I do love that he claims he is not a ws because he is part Mexican, yet will continue to promote those kinds of groups and spout their bs in addition to talking about nationalists being a good thing (somehow I think he didn’t really paid attention to the world wars in class).
they recently did a show near me with Smile Empty Soul (at the smallest popular venue in town less then 100 people in the crowd), SES played before them and it felt like half the crowd left after their set and didnt stay to watch Trapt. I didnt stay either.
Y'know it says a lot about Trapt's relevance in the rock world when more people are clammering for the return of an obscure Nu-Metal act like Sins of a Divine Mother over them. Though in fairness, That one SOADM EP is league better than anything Trapt has ever done. I'd gladly trade Headstrong and Still Frame in for Broken and All Of Me any day of the weak.
Jokes aside I know a lot of people hate them but I think their self titled, someone in control, no apologies, and ESPECIALLY only through the pain are amazing albums. Groundbreaking hell no but I still love those albums and I’m not ashamed
Chris Brown as a human being just needs to go home and stay dormant for a long time. It’s a shame that a band that had such high potential just slip away as “Chris T. Brown” ruins everything that he touches. If Chris Brown wasn’t around, this band would’ve been super notable without Chris around lmao. I just hope that one day, Trapt will get super tired of Chris Brown, and then it’ll turn out to be a positive break-up (If the band decides to fire Chris). This is well made! Hope to see more videos like this :)
I’m so happy to see that you are speaking out against problematic musicians. I hope that he doesn’t come after you and your team. If he does, then Chris is a punching-while-down nimrod.
Out of curiosity I checked to see how these albums did on the Hot 200 and they debued/peaked surprisingly well. "Someone in Control" at #14"Only Through The Pain" at #18, "No Apologies" at #25. DNA at #156. Their record sales shrunk with each release but up until 2020 they they had a dedicated fan base that supported them.
My brother had the self titled album. I had the second album but only liked one or two songs. I don't remember the third album all that much, I think I liked one song and that was it. I had no clue about any other album or the whole twitter situation but I don't have a Twitter account, so maybe that's a good thing.

It’s a good record, for what it’s worth, and I still spin it every now and then. I’m also glad I didn’t also buy Trapt’s album that evening.
The Trapt guy boasting about Pandora listeners was the funniest thing, felt like I was traveling back in time to 2008 or 2009.
So trapt is basically dababy in the rock world
I haven't thought about Trapt for a good three years. So thanks for ruining my day.

I agree with your comment, but I also want to say I love your PFP. Bungle is... unprecedented.
@megatron_a Thanks, Mr. Bungle is certainly unprecedented and Mike Patton is a genius with an insane vocal range.
Why compare to Nickelback or Creed? Because you joined the bandwagon who think they are cool hating the bands? Poserf*ck.
Surprised Musk didn't reactivate Trashbag's X account.
Musk is too busy being Donald Trump's sidekick.
Tbf Chris created several alts that probably annoyed him into keeping it banned
hes too busy fellating the mango mussolini. give him a moment.
Even a billionaire like Elon knows a problem when he sees it.
Even Musk knows not too touch him
Strangely enough I came across Headstrong in the radio the other night and it got me thinking as to what happened to Trapt because after that overrated song there was a whole lotta nothing.
You know its bad when you get compared to Ronnie
Waiting for when the Trapt RUclips Channel Throws an Angry comment. I have actually seen them do that in recent Trapt analysis vids.

Im not suprised but MAN im very dissapointed

I would NOT recommend Trapt before sleep. Yikes.

No no no....downfall was a Trust Company song. 🤣
And Trust Company is a really good band.
And an awesome song at that!
CAN I BREAK AWAAAAAAY?
I remember TRUSTco when they were still 41down. Good album tunes but they blew live
I totally get that reference!!
True story - standing in line to get an autograph for a band I really like and the Trapt singer is walking around signing tickets. I'm holding mine and old boy just takes it outta my hand and signs it. 😅 Ruined it. I'm just like , "I didn't want that? " lol
His name is actually Chris Brown?
20:49 thanks for your contribution, doggo
Makes me glad I am not on twitter.... those posts are really something.
Listening to all Trapt albums? You must be headstrong to take on every one...
God I remember calling him out for the pedo shit and getting blocked by him was a major accomplishment on my Twitter life.
"Trapt said" is a music version of "Florida Man".
Hedstronk made me spit my water out when i first heard it.
Psychostick is a national treasure.
@@RockedNetNumbers and NOEL are my favorite tracks.
Is there any footage/screencaps of this?

I've never heard of this band... oh wait, Headstrong was used as some WWE PPV theme once. Or something. I found the song bland and forgettable anyhow.
it was Bad Blood 2003 if you're curious
Been wait for this for a long time and I’m so glad it was worth the wait
They're a good example of why insecurity and social media are such a toxic mix. I doubt he believes half of what he posts but he feels the need to double down when called out. Look at how much damage he did to Trapt so quickly. I'm impressed they're being booked at all now
How is this video not 2 hours long?! 😂 Chris Brown (the Voldermort of names in music) just barfs out endless material to use as proof for the downfall.
I might have imploded if I had to record and edit that much material on a band like this.
Honestly I always skipped Headstrong when it was played on Spotify or Apple Music because “this isn’t an artist I know or anyone I want to listen to” and I don’t think I missed out on anything.
So when does the Trap / Aaron Lewis tour kicks off?
It's a perfect example of don't feed the trolls. Not only that, his obsessive need to respond to every single post about him shows severe insecurity.
Page 419 of Project 2025 clearly states that "TRAPT must be inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame".
In a better world, Trapt's other songs would've enjoyed a much larger degree of success, and they would've gone on to enjoy a fruitful career on a similar level as some of their peers like Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace.
They were just a little too headstrong for their own good
It's sucks how much of an ass clown that Chris T. Brown turned out to be. Especially when the hook for Headstrong is incredibly infectious... Literally... It's stuck in my head now, please send help.
Try "Mainframe" from the Borderlands: Pre-Sequel soundtrack. See also, the Killer Klowns From Outer Space theme song.
He made a video ripping a band and got 1,200 likes while the band he’s ripping has millions lol
lol my stupid band draws bigger crowds than Trapt these days. I'd feel bad for them, but they sorta brought it on themselves
Great content as always.
One of the highlights of my music career was earlier this year playing in our hometown of San Jose, CA on the same night as Trapt was playing across the street on tour and pulling a much larger crowd than them
Congrats on the good turnout (or at least turnout better than 10 people at Trapt).
I watched this just to learn Trapt had more than two albums. Who knew!
I know. I was surprised, too, when I first learned they did more than one.
You know you're career as a musician is over when people know you more for your politics and not your songs.
This song worked great for making fun of my friend's mom:
Tim's Mom will take you on
Tim's Mom will take on anyone
I know that you're Tim's Mom
And this is not where you belong
How long before Chris and the official account respond to this video lmao
Headstrong to the bitter end.
I guess you could say they were... Trapt in their prejudice...
I knew about the 2010 record because I was working at Best Buy and used to set the new release wall lol
I imagine Trapt didn't move a lot of units that year.
i remember when Power Trip ripped on Trapt
Honestly maybe we should put Trapt twitter account in the rock and roll hall of fame just for how terrible and garbage it is
I once commented on a trapt post or something that came across my feed somehow and actually tried being somewhat empathetic saying “it’s beginning to not even be worth making fun of him and makes you wonder if he actually needs help with mental health” of course ol CTB himself had the time to take major offense to that so I guess it is still funny to dog on him. Lmao
And to think I was into this band back in the day.
I'm not proud of admitting that. 😔
I actually liked this band from their period of 2002-2010, when Simon Ormandy, Aaron Montgomery and Robb Torres were still in the band. That was their best period in my eyes.
@NexusKin weirdly enough, I agree with that statement. Once 2010 rolled around, it definitely started to go downhill.
@DevonArcherOsborne
Awesome, nice to hear that. 2010's "No Apologies" was their final album I'd actually consider to be good. That one had some really awesome and underrated songs, plus Johnny K's production was super polished and smooth.
At least Ronnie is funny and focuses on someone a lot of people don't like. Chris just hates everyone legitemently and is trying to sue everyone.
Loving that Better Lovers Vinyl in the background, my record of the year next to Boundaries.
CRAPT
also why is everyone named chris brown such a douche? hahaha
Ronnie Radke and Chris T. Brown are perfect for each other😂😂😂
they recently did a show near me with Smile Empty Soul (at the smallest popular venue in town less then 100 people in the crowd), SES played before them and it felt like half the crowd left after their set and didnt stay to watch Trapt.

Why do I feel like Chris' comments about a 15-year-old dating a 25-year-old is just him compartmentalizing trauma?
only through the pain I'll listen to it if you pay me
Chris Brown as a human being just needs to go home and stay dormant for a long time.
I thought Trapt was a one hit wonder. Literally, the only song I know by them is Headstrong.
Now we need a video for As I Lay Dying
My brother had the self titled album.
I had the second album but only liked one or two songs. I don't remember the third album all that much, I think I liked one song and that was it. I had no clue about any other album or the whole twitter situation but I don't have a Twitter account, so maybe that's a good thing.
