Hi Guys, Thanks for the video! Super helpful! Can you add in the description the amount of which products you've used. So that makes it easier for us to know what to order exactly? Thanks in advance!
Great tutorial. Literally my bible atm! Great products too. Thank you 👌
i'm at this very stage right now with my own vw t25 so these videos are great!
Hi guys , Awesome video and very informative ! Can you tell us what is needed for a T4 ? Flooring , ceiling , walls ! Cheers
Flooring, twin pack of dead mat duo. Sides, doors and ceiling. 2x boxes of dodo deadn' then 1x 10m roll of van liner and then fill the voids with 1roll of 100mm thermo fleece and 1 roll of 40mm thermo fleece.
Hello! I am desperately waiting for the phase 4 of this about the ply panelling - can’t wait for that. Or have I missed out on something?
Hey guys, great vid - am having fun watching this build.. So my question is, how do you do you fix and/or cover holes in the van floor and what products should we use? Thanks very much!
Hi! Depending on the size of the hole, you can have them welded up, fill it with a rubber grommet, or fill a screw hole with a sealant or even some fibre glass filler. Just make sure the surrounding bare metal work.is painted or at least sealed
Combe Valley Campers legend thanks! Biggest holes are about 4cm wide so not sure if that’s worth welding or not! Cheers..
Did you find it difficult to refit the batteries after installing the sound deadening on the bases of the battery boxes?
My brother's one's barely fit under the flaps and they are the correct listed ones.
the torch reviews part LMAO😂
How do you plan on fitting/packing up the Rusty Lee bed to it meets with the box you will build over the engine bay? I am at this point now but using Westfalia hinges, really scratching my head how I can be done with a storage box at the back!
There are a few designs online. Mayne have a chat with your local cabinet maker, or local conversion specialist to come up with the best design for your van
I reckon I could easily out perform the acoustics , insulation , condensation and fire proofing all the traditional methods used by most converters by applying @corksol Uk . Cork sprayed directly to the metal will do everything you have explained so well on this video. Take a look
Interesting, thank you
Hello there! I really like you series. I have a question about the insulation issue: in Germany, mostly Armaflex is being used for insulation. Do you know this product and what do you have to say about this product?
The last acoustic carpet you fitted is it better to glue to the floor or could I glue it to my plywood so I can remove it easier , the ply would be easier for me but if it’s better to to glue it to the floor over the sound deadening, iv put the same floor covering down , it’s on my transit connect,
I'm thinking insulation made from plastic bottles will sweat . Correct me if I'm mistaken
Great videos guys. Interested to see what you did for the engine lid? Do you stick the Dodo mat to the very edge of the lid or leave a small gap?
Great series. Really useful. I wanted to ask whether you would recommend anything about adding waxoyl as part of this job to protect the seams against rust? I don't think I have seen you discuss this here or in other videos or what products you recommend? Or is it even necessary?
Hi
would you put electrics in 1st or after insulating??
cheers great videos.
After insulation. Watch our 1st Q&A video and we talk about the order of converting a van
Hi, it would've been great to see a before and after on sound with a db meter to see the difference in sound levels. Just a thought. Thanks, Les
This will happen in our next project vehicle
I got a van with windows all around, would it be cooler or warmer in the summer with full isolation? (like a thermo effect)
Hi Leigh, Regarding the sound dampening over the wheel arches in the front cabin for a T25 , would that cause any issues with carpet? Or is there room enough for 2mm sound dampening without the carpet afterwards “sticking out”
Hi. Great video. I’m interested in using these products for the floor for my elwb transit. (I am just putting on the sounddeadening products) instead of doing a frame and use celotex. I’m wondering if I could put other flooring directly on top of this and if it would bulge due to the deep groves in the floor in these type of vans. I am also adding two extra passenger seats and I noticed you made cut for the belts. Would I have to make cuts for the rails? Apologies for many questions I have no clue what I’m doing but I want to try and do it anyway!
Hi, I would really like to see a flame test on the thermo fleece.
After reading this comment o personally found some thermo fleece, found a lighter and lit the fleece. If you can imagine trying to light a piece of wet grass, then this is what thermo.fleece is like. It doesnt burn like kindling, it charms and melts.
@@CombeValleyCampers hi, thanks for that. Might be worth including in in a vlog. When I was insulating my van I avoided it going off what people were saying.
I couldn't find anyone who had actually tryed it. Be good to bust the myth on its flammability.
Cheers Paul
Nice! Love this series! Perfect for my ongoing T3 camperconversion. One question: whats the tip regarding vapor barriers on a T3? I have them on my front doors behind the door panels ofc to secure moisture from the windows getting in. But what about the rest of the van? For example if you have sliding windows?
Front doors had a plastic sheet behind the door card as standard as inside the front door cavities allowed water to flow through them as the winding window rubbers weren't perfect. All other panel do not require a membrane in my opinion
Thanks. Will come back when I build mine.
What goes over the floor covering? You said it was an underlay. So ply/flooring over or more insulation and then flooring?
Yes use the dead mat duo, then ply, then a floor covering such as alto contrax
Is there other good options to use as the main insulation other than the plastic bottle wool?
There are plenty of options out there for different climates, budgets and tastes, but we have found that the DodoMAT product is a fantastic all-round product. Leigh
@@CombeValleyCampers We just don't have that particular product around. Thought if there are other well known alternatives :) Thanks a lot for responding!
Hi, what do you think about armaflex? Thanks
We have no experience in using armaflex I'm afraid
oLIGHT .... May the 4th be with you 😂😂😂😂
Hey guys.
Can you cover the sound deadening with 4 way stretch ?
Thankyou
Yes you can. We tend to in the wheels arches
Cheers thankyou
Just getting all the materials to start a refurb of a t25 👍
Isn’t the type 1 a beetle not splittie? I Could be wrong!
Hej! Awesome video! I got a T2 (actually a T1.5, latinamerican hybrid thing) so your pointer for those were awesome!
I got a big question: vapor varier.... do you put one on? is it needed? where?
I've been trying to find a video of you mentioning it, but couldn't. If there is, a link would be great!
CheerS!
Also, replying to my own comment, I tried buying from www.deadening.co.uk/ with your link, but they don't ship to Norway (which is where I'm at). Do you have any help on that front for me? :D
Try this dude. www.combevalleycampers.co.uk/post/does-my-van-need-a-vapour-barrier
Also have you contacted the team at dodo yet, they may be able to help
@@CombeValleyCampers I wrote, but haven't gotten a reply yet.... and then I kept watching your videos, so risked writing to you :D
@@CombeValleyCampers Excellent!
Shouldn’t you bag the fleece stuff up before you jam it in there to the voids? Won’t it hold condensation? Also... How is it flame retardant, plastic bottles burn like owt!
It is entirely flame retardant to industry standards (and we've tested it!) Also it does not hold moisture at all
@@CombeValleyCampers that’s cool (well warm), it’s good someones found a use for old bottles!
Do they do the Sound Stopper or Sound Stopper Pro in sheets bigger than 600mm x 900mm, not sure that’s gonna be big enough to do my GR Yaris’s boot floor in one go.
I have a T6 kombi swb.
Just wanting to sound deaden the floor area as rest of van was already done, which is the best product to use so I can 're fit the original kombi mat back down afterwards?
Dodo deadn 2mm sound deadener. 1 box should do
Cheers
Have you a link pls so can order
Iv been looking .. How do i get this dodomat in the US? Can you send me a link please.
Dodo Mat is a UK based company, and we have spoken about exporting product to the states. Please email your requirements to info@combevalleycampers.com and we can chat further. Leigh
Which feedback you have on the UAZ Buhanka ?
Hi Hiro! I have no practice experience with one im afraid, however I would love one. I follow a few UAZ Instagram pages so look out for them :)
Time you put or that in you should get 10 miles to the gallon because of the weight
why no armaflex ?
good vid as per, but when your spraying the glue, wear a mask. Your lungs are important esp at the moment. stay safe.
Correct, my apologies. I'm normally very good, andi had my mask in the vicinity, but I was wrapped up in presenting to camera.
