The carnivore diet improved my life is so many ways.
Anxiety gone, IBS gone, migraines gone. Never had this much energy, never easier to build muscle. My skin and hair looks amazing.
Awesome! How long have you been carnivore?
@@elizabethh9039 3 days LOL

I’ve done it for 51/2 years no fruit fibre or vegetables
My husband and I have been BBBE carnivore since November 2023. So about 6 months now. I find the "studies" confusing and contradictory. What I'm certain about is how well we both feel. My husband, 64, has lost 23 pounds. I've lost 14 pounds and I'm 76. But the weight loss, while greatly appreciated, is not the reason we both plan to continue eating this way. No gerd, arthritis pain nearly gone, not one asthma attack, high energy, better sleep, no brain fog, no body odor, stable calm mood with no depression and only occasional anxiety when warranted, glowing skin, and no food cravings. We eat when we're hungry which is usually 10AM and 6PM.
We both are grateful for how we look and feel.
Thank you for taking the time to explain this reexamination of the study. To me it means we can't take any study as helpful until we analyze how it was done and who did it.
Most of us won't do that so you are providing a much needed service.❤
Carnivore works because it is an elimination diet. For one people are giving up processed foods and sugar. The second is dairy and some grains can be inflammatory. That said it is not healthy for your gut to give up all fruits and vegetables. Your gut needs the pro and pre-biotics Your body also needs the vitamins and minerals.
My husband and I have been using heroin since November 2023. So about 6 months now. I find the "studies" on heroin addiction confusing and contradictory. What I'm certain about is how well we both FEEL when using heroin. My husband, 64, has lost 123 pounds. I've lost 140 pounds and I'm 76 days away from a major cardiac event.

I wish they made these studies less about weight loss. More about health.
Agreed because tbh I don't think weight loss and health optimization are one in the same. Wouldn't people be better off eating lots of phytochemical rich foods instead of a butt load of saturated fat.
@@muscleNPmamaexactly
This is a pointless study. You lose water weight on low carb diets, but over time, weight loss is relatively the same. Low carb diets increase all cause mortality by 30 percent.
@mrmaxcarter2306, Garbage statistic. The meta study you’re referencing included studies that called 30% of calories from carbohydrates “low carb” and did nothing to account for healthy user bias or any other nutritional factors outside of macronutrients.
@@brawndothethirstmutilator9848 30 percent is pretty low carb. I eat a lot more carbs than that.
Sure, it's not as low as you can go, but the fact is, carnivore diets are not healthy and there is no evidence to show otherwise. Weight loss is something achievable with any diet. Some better than others. But what matters most is longevity.
Dr. Anthony Chaffee knows what he is talking about. So does Dr. Ken Berry, and Dr. Cywes, and Sten Ekberg, Dr. Lustig, Dave Mac, and all the people who have completely turned their lives around with carnivore.

I started keto in 2020 and switched to carnivore in 2022. When I went carnivore I chose the lion diet. After a six months (when most of my excess weight came off) I added eggs, bacon, fish, shrimp, charcuterie meats, and cream for my coffee. In the past 3 months I have added pickles, blueberries, and avocados. I also make a tomato sauce from 5 fresh organic tomatoes that I use to make beef chili once a week. I'm still over 90% carnivore and I haven't noticed any adverse side effects from adding these foods. My weight has not changed. I still have high energy levels and feel great. I do notice I'm having fewer leg cramps and I have more frequent bowel movements. On strict carnivore I was having one bowel movement a week. Now it's closer to every two days. I stay away from all processed foods, sugar, and carbs. If I go out to eat I might eat a potato if it is served with the meal. (I live in France and the food quality here is exceptional.) I also drink one glass of wine every other Friday night when we go out with friends for dinner.
Interesting. I’ve been low carb, then keto since November of 2022. Tried some carb increase/decrease changes but still low carb. This month I started carnivore but 85-90% carnivore is my ultimate goal. Exactly what form it will take, I’m not yet sure, but you’ve given me some ideas. Thanks.
The reason carnivore works is it is an elimination diet. People cannot eat sugar and processed foods. Right now I am on a thyroid healing protocol. That means no grains, dairy, sugar or processed foods. For the first time in years, I am dropping weight. I eat a wide variety of meats, seafood, fruits and vegetables. I am dropping weight. I will gradually add some dairy and low gluten grains back slowly. Glad to see you are adding fruits and vegetables.
@@run4cmt Don't get me wrong. I eat a cup of blueberries every couple of days after dinner. Half an avocado with my eggs three time a week, and my beef chili with homemade tomato sauce once a week. I eat animal based protein at EVERY meal and the rest just helps break the monotony.
The hard headed still listen to their doctor....
"Eat your crickets and take your weekly booster." There, saved them the $60 copay.

I hate that people think that veggies do anything for them that they need to shove them down kids throats . Meat is life
Carnivore is keto
Keto is high fat @@muhworld2227
@@Kwildcat13 you are just wrong. Fruits and vegetables are needed. You need the fiber, pro and pre-biotics, minerals, and vitamins provided by them. Tests done at the doctor are really not all that extensive.
Vegetables have vitamins and minerals but we absorb very little of that. It's better to let the ruminant animals eat the vegetables because they can process and absorb those nutrients and then we can get those nutrients by eating the ruminant animal.
Fortunately for us our digestive system is designed so that it can process the vegetables and get some of the nutrients so that we don't starve if we cannot get a kill when we hunt. But our main food source is still meat. If the hunter doesn't get a kill then the hunter can gather nuts and berries to not starve.
We don't need fruit unless we need a burst of energy from the sugar. Otherwise the long-term energy we get from fat is a better source of energy.
We don't need fiber unless we want to get constipated from the fiber. I really don't know where this recommendation for fiber comes from because it doesn't make any sense.
The majority of people with real experience with the ketogenic lifestyle will tell you it takes a minimum of 3 weeks to become fat-adapted. Many will tell you it takes 6 weeks to become fat-adapted. Athletes have reported continued increase in fat-adaptation for 6 months. A 2 weeks fat-adaptation then switch study seems completely at odds with the majority of the experience and science around fat-adaptation as I understand it. Study is problematic at best IMO. Thanks HIH.
I'd suggest for most people at least 4 to 6 weeks.
Oh yeah. Adapting to Keto (or carnivore) takes much longer than 2 weeks, especially if a system has been dependent / addicted to (particularly processed) carbs for years and years.
The only study I’ve seen showed fat adaptation took an average of 20 weeks plus or minus 6 weeks. I forget the name of it, Bart Kay has talked about it before.
Yeah definetly took me a long while.
No surprise there! If I was forced to eat plant based stuff after eating meats and real foods, I would eat as little as possible as well!
🤣
Best comment this month!
Meat-based diet 💪
For life..
First time someone told me to try a strict carnivor diet I thought they were absolutely insane, until I tried it and I never went back, I even make my own beef tallow which requires much less fat to cook my meat compared to olive oil which will pass the toxic threshold when searing a steak. My beef broth which takes 12 hours made with high quality bones with high bone marrow, I flow through life... I dont even have my blood tested as I feel so good, physically and mentally...
I had daily headaches after a pretty solid head injury for over a year. The concussion symptoms eventually went away, but the afternoon headaches didn't. I'm sure they would have resolved eventually, but a strict carnivore diet eliminated them in about a week.
4 weeks is very light indication. However im a ketovore now for the last few yearz
Nice review, thanks!
Just the term plant-based itself indicates processed foods. Processed foods are not natural. We need to eat real natural foods if you don't know what natural means, it simply means found in nature
How is that? Plant based indicates PLANTS but not animal product exclusive. All these faux Frankenstein foods aren’t truly plant based they are vegan or vegetarian… this is why some have to go further and define “Whole Food plant based” to clear that up
@@mamat1213 plant-based means the base of it is made out of plants otherwise you would just say eating plants we're eating vegetables we're eating vegan. It's the same idea when they say animal-based that just means they've added sugars or they added coloring from things like beets. Anytime the word based is used that should indicate to anyone and everyone that it is not the only ingredient, that it is the main ingredient but not the only ingredient. Animal product is a whole food but if it was animal based it wouldn't be a whole food and this is where the English language comes in with having certain words for certain reasons like something having something at its base 🙄
@@mamat1213 it's funny you put one of the words in all caps and completely ignored the other word that changes the meaning of the food source saying it is based on plants and not completely plants. Otherwise there would be no need for the word based 🤦
Regardless, it's not natural and anytime you have to process these Foods whether they are plant-based or animal-based, they are still not good for you. The fact that you say Whole Food "plant-based" it's still saying that it's processed. Just because it's "based on plants" doesn't mean it's a plant source
@@SoldierofYeHoVah it is based on plans but it isn't a plant. Otherwise it would be called vegan vegetarian. You are the one that's completely missing the point the fact that it is based on a plant meaning that the majority might be plants making it the base of the entire product, but it is not a whole product. Cottonseed oil is plant-based but you're not eating the cotton nor the seed, you're eating something processed, something that was made in a laboratory. I would suggest that you go back to 5th grade and spend the next 3 years paying a real good attention to how sentences are structured and phrases are created to indicate its purpose in communicating an idea.
@@SoldierofYeHoVah if there was no need they wouldn't use it but they do use it to let you know that it's a processed food. That the base of the final product is made of plants or that it is based on plans but there are unnatural additives mixed in to create something that is not a plant style food. How much copium did you take this year to cope this hard
Essential nutrients vitamin B12 and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) prove that humans must consume an animal-based diet.
Algae contains DHA and EPA and duckweed has B12.
It doesn't prove that at all. B12 and DHA both from from the soil exactly where animals get it and exactly where we can get it. Animals don't naturally have B12 and DHA they get it from eating stuff that comes from the soil
@@nick7072 and do you eat those? Lol. Also the amounts per measurement of animal vs plant foods matter, in terms of nutrients. Plants also tend to have anti-nutrients (toxins) that prevent our bodies from absorbing as much of the nutrients through digestion as they appear to have before eating them… so that also makes a difference. When you eat an animal food, you have very little waste and nutrients are much more readily absorbed for use.
@@nick7072 First of all, no one the world was eating algae or duckweed before the discoveries of vitamin B12 (1940s) and DHA (1950s-1960s).
Furthermore, there are no published reports in peer-reviewed scientific literature of duckweed improving human vitamin B12 status. Like the vitamin B12 found in algae, duckweed vitamin B12 is probably an analogue that has is ineffective in the human body.
Bottom line: Humans must eat red meat to enjoy optimal health.
@@nick7072 There are no published reports in peer-reviewed scientific literature of duckweed improving human vitamin B12 status. The same is true for vitamin B12 analogues found in algae which are ineffective in humans.
It's important to understand that the discoveries of vitamin B12 (1940s) and DHA (1950s-1960s) were completely unknown to suffering vegetarians throughout history.

only carnivore is Far The BEST, i tried it all.. only carnivore is really good with everything overall....
4,5 years carnivore, never go back to keto, plant based, vegan, macdonalds and ....

BS. It is an unhealthy diet. Most people do well because it is an elimination diet. Lots of people of other diets eat sugar, dairy, grains, and processed foods. Those are what cause the issue, not fruits and vegetables.
I'm going Full Vegan, I have 1 pepper, 1 onion and 3 tomatoes coming with the 15 pounds of meat that should be delivered within the next hour, maybe even before this video is over.

I am not Keto, but I am meat based plus fruit and veggies. I just try to avoid processed and higher carb foods. I will say I think it is probably easier to lose weight on a keto type of diet. I did close to keto for a period and lost quite a bit of weight. But I had some constipation issues, so I just added a bit more fruit to my diet and that worked well. The big thing for me is that eating meat is satisfying and allows me to control my calorie/sugar intake. And I feel it is sustainable. I have been doing for a few years now and find it pretty easy. No way I could sustain vegan.
I think your approach is good. Right now I am on a protocol with no grains, dairy, sugar or processed foods. This is the first time in years I am losing weight. I am doing this to heal my thyroid. I will slowly add back healthy grains and some dairy in a few weeks.
@@run4cmt I think that is good plan. I wanted to do something that was realistic and sustainable forever. Strict keto would have been neither for me. I exercise very regularly too. I do both resistance training and cardio. I really feel like resistance training is very helpful to lose weight and to maintain muscle mass. If looking for a simple resistance training workout (you get some cardio out of it too), I really like the Farmer's Carry. It is simple and a great overall body workout. You are on the right path. Good Luck.
You can make any study fit any narrative you want ! Plant based made me feel so much better than carnivore and carnivore only made my A-1C and blood sugar go up ! After switching to low fat high fiber real food either lean moderate protein lowered my A-1C down to 4.7 consistently and healed my gut !
everyone is different as well.
I read somewhere "veggies are for detoxing and meat is for building". Might be one of the reasons why different diets are good on different ppl, basically depending on what issues the body has
I always knew that doing these opposing diets back to back was flawed.
Good video, Mike.
Here's a ChatGPT summary:
- A 2021 study compared a low-carb animal-based keto diet with a low-fat plant-based diet over four weeks.
- Participants were randomized to either start with a keto diet and switch to a plant-based diet or vice versa.
- The study was re-analyzed, revealing a diet carry-over effect favoring the low-carb keto diet for body composition, weight loss, and appetite control.
- The re-analysis indicated the need for a wash-out period to avoid carry-over effects.
- The study, titled "Physiologic Adaptation to Macronutrient Changes Distorts Findings from Short Dietary Trials," was re-analyzed by David Ludwig and Nicholas Norwitz.
- The re-analysis showed that the order of diet affected energy intake and body composition changes.
- Participants who started with the low-carb diet consumed fewer calories and lost more body weight and fat mass.
- The low-carb diet led to lower plasma glucose, insulin, and increased ketones, which carried over to the plant-based diet phase.
- The re-analysis confirmed that a low-carb diet first resulted in greater fat mass changes compared to starting with a plant-based diet.
- The study also found significant differences in blood glucose, insulin, triglycerides, and LDL cholesterol between the two diets.
- Fasting triglycerides decreased on the low-carb diet but increased on the plant-based diet.
- Post-prandial triglycerides were higher following a low-carb test meal.
- The study suggested that high glucose variability and post-prandial lactate concentrations were higher on the plant-based diet, potentially increasing cardiovascular risk.
- Beta-hydroxybutyrate levels and fat oxidation were higher on the low-carb diet.
- The re-analysis supported the calorie model of obesity, showing that participants on a low-carb diet ate fewer calories overall.
- The study highlighted the limitations of short-term feeding studies and the need for individualized dietary approaches.
- Main message: The re-analysis of the study suggests that a low-carb animal-based keto diet may be more effective for body composition, weight loss, and appetite control compared to a low-fat plant-based diet, but the order of diet and the presence of a wash-out period are crucial factors.

I was just commenting on this for a Dr Mark Hyman podcast with Dr William Li yesterday. He advocates a mostly plant based diet and eats fish but claims red meat to be too high and saturated fat, and even as dangerous. I hate that so many are misinformed thinking that the healthier option is to cut out red meat and stick to low fat veggie based diets.
Agreed on Dr Hyman. I like him as he’s personable. I believe he’s now 65 but his skin is beginning to sag on his face. So has Dr Barnard and Ornish. Poor Dean looks like he has chicken neck.
At 70 and a dirty carnivore (90%) not much is sagging on my face and body. Of course, I paid attention 60 years ago to Jack Lalaine and he did facial exercises. I do them unconsciously driving to the point where the next day I sometimes have cramps in my cheeks and neck. 🤦🏼😂
I’d luv to tell that to all the vegan Hollywood stars who get facial procedures done in their 30’s. Eat meat and do your Jack LaLaine facial exercises!
You have to do a video on the corporate funded my plate meal plan for their absurd examples of a healthy balanced diet full of margarine and sweetened non fat yogurt.
Poorly designed and too short. Researchers have egg on their faces.
Animal based has so many benefits to physical and mental health for me by a landslide
Lords have hunting land and eat animals. Serfs have Bread.
Not just animals. They ate a large variety of foods. Serfs also had gardens with vegetables and fruits. They gathered foods and had dairy.
Yes, the lords were the only ones allowed to hunt, serfs made due with milk and eggs if they were lucky enough. The rest was plants, and too bad if the crops failed.
What other animal requires RCT to determine what's optimal diet for the specie? Present a child with steak and greens. The child intuitively choses the meat. Plant-based foods are for short-term survival if meat is not readily available. Meat-based diet makes you thrive and really enjoy life. ❤
I agree, i also think leaner meat is what’s available in nature… not super fatty meat. What do you think?
@@StellaM22 Depends on which time in out evolution you're referring to. For most of it, large ruminant, fatty animals were the choice.
Tried keto and felt better initially but have also gone through periods of very high veggies. Did the berries, nuts, seeds and lots of spices like turmeric, ceylon cinnamon, paprika etc. Did 18-20 hr fasts. Eventually, I felt like crap and I truly believe that the more vegetables I ate, the worse I felt and looked. I once thought oxalates, lectins etc were not such an issue but I have changed my mind. Been carnivore just 3 wks but already I feel and look much better. My main issue right now is loss of appetite but my stomach is flatter and my oral health vastly improving. No cravings and more chilled out. Incidenly, I also experimented with a very high carb diet (sweet potatoes, buckwheat, rice, fruit {lots of oxalates} long ago (before keto) and I was bloated as hell which leads me to the next myth that fiber is essential for bowel movements. Carnivore proves otherwise.
Funny thing. I got an ad before this one for a vegetarian national grocery brand.
He never tells you what he’s talking about in simple terms he just repeats, and repeats the words of the study
What to do if your kidneys have trouble with stones? Every time I start carnivore I start getting kidney stones and UTI infections and the physician tell me to cut animal protein… I lift weights, what is the issue? Can you explain this problem?
Well, my cousin, which follows a vegan diet, she has osteoporosis because of that, while anyone on her or my family who follows a omnivore diet has that problem, so yeah, that's what a plant diet do to your life, and she is just in her 30s.
At 4.21 timestamp, LC->LF subjects lost 2.9+-1.1 kg of more body weight and 1.5+-0.6 kg of more body fat than LF->LC subjects. Almost half of weight loss came from loss of lean mass or water retention?
I can attest to the spring break thing: I gained 5 lbs in just that week d/t snacking and eating ice cream.
We needed a study to tell us there is a better body composition, better health and greater satiety when eating meat?
I think the best nutrition science sticks closely to metabolism models. We need to understand actual metabolic pathways and their controls. Then put a variable we want to study into the model to see the effects. Thrre are too many variable in studies. With persons.
Been on carnivore for 11 days now, only thing that sucked is my workout isn't as easy. I lift hard and my weight is feeling heavier since I started.
It can take a while to get fat adapted. Life is good once you are though.
It takes a lot longer to find vigor on a fat-based diet than any of the keto brethren will admit. It does get better, but it won't be easy.

Does one truly believe the only benefit to eating a low carb style diet is you eat less?
My glucose increased on carnivore/high fat diet because I was not being satiated eating just meat. I was overeating big time. I won't reintroduce grains, but some veggies are necessary (yes maybe even come bloating due to digestion gases) to actually feeling full.
Yes! Veggies help with that due to the fiber
Is there any mechanistic evidence that elevated triglycerides have any impact on cardiovascular disease? I say mechanistic because an elevated post prandial elevated triglycerides from a fat based meal has a completely different etiology than from a carbohydrate based meal because in the case of the carbohydrate based diet, the triglycerides represent carbohydrate toxicity/metabolic dysfunction/diabetes spectrum.
People are different. What works for one may not work for another.
What I have seen a fair amount of people do is stay away from meat because they're scared of the fat or they're scared of red meat and instead will have a lot of simple carbs instead and a lot of wheat a lot of pasta and bread and then they're satisfied with eating vegetables and then also fruit but then don't limit any junk food like chips or ice cream, crackers, frozen pre-packaged stuff, or order fast food so doing all of these very very unhealthy patterns of eating all because they're scared of red meat and I've been judged before for eating a steak it's a bizarre thing.
I wouldn’t surprised if the “quality” original study was designed to get the “right” results, by not including a washout. Perhaps it was just a mistake to miss including a washout, and/or not also just include the first period analysis. Oh well, luckily there was data transparency and reality was revealed.
Plus of course keeping the duration relatively short - though in fairness getting a randomised trial for 8weeks would be hard. Though randomised into 2 arms four weeks each, would be better w.r.t. adaption period need.
Why did the people in the study have to switch diets? Isn't it more accurate to have 1 group just eat 1 diet for a long period of time? This would mimic reality. Most people do the same stuff everyday. Compare the results of their markers after a time period.
I had low hdl , perfect LDL partcles.
Started having craft beers, HDL sky rocked, ldl particles higher, ldl lower. Tri lowered. Hbc1a lowered. But I keep a very routine diet of veggies and meat and also I don't overdo exercise anymore which I was before so now I just look to make 5000 steps a day and I feel much better.
Go figure
Mediterranean the best …(thoughI don’t eat red meat) I’m Italian have to that lol
you need both. get over it. plants are compound producing machines. like polyphenols and vitamins. etc. fiber also has a lot of health benefits like reducing triglycerides and blood sugars. which even if you only eat meat you would need to pay attention to regardless.
vitamin c <
both are extremes and thus neither truly have all the benefits you need
While nice a four week study isnt long enough. 13 month carnivore here and still going.strong.
After 7 years of plant based my anemia and anxiety got so bad I was having panic attacks, heart palpitations and vertigo symptoms. These symptoms did not start right away but the more critically low my iron got the worse they were which took some time. I would argue that woman who are not menopausal should definitely be getting animal based foods in their diets particular beef. I feel so much better eating animal based and don’t get dizzy during workouts 🎉
Been plant based longer than that and have no issues at all.
Over several years, I went from a vegan diet, to a vegetarian diet, to the Mediterranean diet, to a mostly carnivore diet. They all seemed about the same for me ... except now, I have these annoying erections.
Yeah, they are really annoying when you get them whilst doing your shopping.
Did you have less on the plant diets
@@hypnotiqpits13 For me, significantly less when vegetarian and almost disappeared when WFPB. Now I'm like a teenager again. No exaggeration. I'm 60 years old.
What about for you Jake? Was it different on vegetarian or vegan?
The way they plot the data at 7:15 is unhelpful because they split up the two test groups. If you regraph the plots to track according to the two the study groups you see the picture more clearly.
The top left line gets tacked onto the end of the top right line forming a V, with participants ending up with fat gain. Next, the bottom left line gets tacked onto the beginning of the bottom right line resulting in a continuous drop in fat mass for the group.
I'd wager the plant based first group were lacking some baseline nutrients after 2 weeks making them overeat during the carnivore portion. Conversely, the carnivore first group loaded their body with nutrients and then just didn't have to eat as much during the plant based part. That's sort of validated by the calorie plots at 15:57. (Do the same chart regraphing.)
basically. its not that deep. processed stuff that make it faster to digest. even if its just nut butter or ghee. even if its some kind of resistant carb or starch. whatever. fiber slows down the triglyceride/ insulin. blood sugar. period.
other than that. paleo. plant and animal based diet. as its always been. dont hurt yourself thinking too much about it
4 weeks c’mon! And I am not a low fat diet proponent!
Mediterranean diet seems to pull in the best of both.
Why not do a low carb high fat plant based diet study? Then it’s not comparing apple to orange.

This guessing about cholesterol actually annoys me. Is it possible that our body is trying to get back into hemostasis there for our cholesterol is what it should be to be healthy and the problem is something else?
As a vegan, the only way to mitigate the hypoglycemic rollercoaster was to eat constantly, had horrible gallbladder issues and was well on my way to the “puzzle house” with cognitive decline, not to mention anxiety. With a family history of heart attacks, the near constant chest pains were no picnic!Starving twenty minutes after a big plate of rice is bad!Cancer ushered me into keto- carnivore- IF where all the previous symptoms are reversed. There is no proper human diet!, Context influences more than content. Digestion usurps up to 75% of one’s energy, mess it up, you won’t get the 25% left! Mindset, thorough chewing , setting all influence nutrition as does contents. Digestive organs are designed to process quality fat, what idiot put a soap bag attached to your liver? Eating fat nonstop will exhaust your cell’s mitochondria , so fasting and carb cycling is what our ancestors endured over 15000 years ago. Hormesis is instrumental in our well being!
So if you eat a human health diet it will help you if you are starved on the low fat grass diet later on.
This was to scientific for me. I watched the whole video. So whats the outcome? Which is better for over all health? Not just weight loss. Maybe i missed something lol.
Carnivore is awesome, my only problem is I don’t eat enough. Besides that it’s awesome.
Low carb ketogenic whole food plant based all the way !! Too bad this study couldn’t comprehend this actually exists. Can have both LOL.
This comment section is such a biased echo chamber. Its actually hilarious.
Duh. 🙄
Just a note about one of your last sentence....
Anybody who thinks climate change is affected by cows any more than monocrop Vegetable farming is delusional
I am a strict Carnivore and there is a ton of benefits I have seen from it. Some issues I am dealing with as well. However, the one thing that destroyed the credibility of this video out of the gate.. "Study 4 Weeks Long". I didn't watch any further. In terms of nutrition, it has to be years, if not decades, and it has to be controlled, and that will never really happen. This is why anecdotal evidence across many people's own self-testing will largely be more telling than BS studies like these.
Even as a strict Carnivore, for nearly two years, I am not 100% convinced this is the most optimal way to eat. The biggest voices in the space have a very dogmatic position on certain things. All I can tell you is if you choose to do any specific dietary option, get a glucose monitor at the least and test your labs every 3 to 6 months and learn to read them. Also, track your macros. Do not listen to people touting studies, they are almost always useless. And do not listen to the stupid advice you hear from Carnivore advocates like: "eat until you are comfortably stuffed", because some people will get type 2 diabetic levels doing that as well, I know, I am one of them.
I am 34 y old male here.
I have tried carnivore for about 5 weeks and I have noticed an increase in my SHBG level which further lowers the free testosterone.
Now I have some days carnivore, some days keto and some days 100-200 g carbs and very rare more than 200 g carbs.
This approach for me is the best. Better libido, higher free testosterone, better muscle pump, more strength and better bloodwork.
C A R N I V O R E
A whole 4 weeks!? 😂🤣
Whenever calories are mentioned in conjunction with food and energy, I just assume the person doesn’t know what they are talking about.
Calories are irrelevant when it comes to food, or losing weight. I can eat 6,000 calories a day, for a month, and lose 60 pounds. The calories are not relevant. The nutritional macros are. Eating carbs is what counts, or better said, is what causes fat gain. In those 6,000 calories a day, I was eating ZERO carbs, zero plants, including all fruitz, veggies, and grain. NONE. And lost 60 pounds in one month. My meals consisted of 1 1/2 pounds of fatty steak (twice a day), 1/3 stick of butter, 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream. Occasionally some bacon, about. 6 slices, with 6 eggs over easy. That was in 2017 when the VA doctors would tell me it wont end well, I would get nutrient deficiency and die soon. Its been nearly 7 years. So I ask… when?
I’m am far healthier now that ever. Cured my type 2 diabetes in less than two days. Reversed my cancer. Cured IBS. Cures arthritis. Cured asthma. No nutritional deficiencies. When is the health failure supposed to happen?
I'm guessing no one looked at gene mutations. Overmethylators do best on plant based but are only ten percent of the population.
💪🏿💪🏿
Carnivore isn't necessarily a ketogenic diet, though.
@@andyc7747 Shawn Baker wasn't eating keto until just half a year ago.
@andyc7747 Still not true - keto works only with high fat and moderate protein! Otherwise you kick yourself out of ketosis pretty fast. With carnivore, it's pretty easy to overeat protein (with lean meat especially) and undereat fat. It's interesting to observe that with a cgm and ketone meter.
You should see if you could go on Doctor mikes channel example to him why low carb diets are healthy. Your more qualified in explain these things compared to others mike had on his show.
I feel better eating eggs for breakfast
If a diet filled with eating bread, pasta, rice, potatoes was healthy i would be all over it but it doesn't so I'll just eat animal products..
I am vegan and I think its more about processed foods and being a junk vegan.
That's what I said in my comment because the phrase plant-based indicates processed foods otherwise they would just be eating the raw plant, or soaked plants
Agree 100%%!
To one of the comments being vegan or vegetarian or carnivores or doesn't mean u are going to be safe from any Illness I have a family member who was vegan ate all natural good homemade foods no junk vegan process food at all was vegan since very young still caught cancer so it doesn't matter what u eat he always ate healthy all his life. Illness bloated. He exercise always been thin . You have to blame the food Industry of what they doing to our food and vegetables all overall. Process or Ultra foods or homemade is food regardless it all comes from companies farmers.etc. unfortunately. We can only do our best. Even the environment where we live chemicals all that.
@@drip369 wtf? Plant-based just basically means that the majority of the diet is from plants.
Do you not process your meat? Do you eat it raw?
@@nick7072 I don't need a laboratory to process a steak, just like you shouldn't need a laboratory to make you food out of plants. At least you see that plant-based means it is based on but cooking a steak is not processing it because it is still one ingredient. Now if they turned that stake into a powder that would be processed, highly processed. Putting broccoli in water is not a processing it, it's just softening it. But if you turn that broadly into a powder or an oil and add a bunch of other powders and oils to it then it's no longer broccoli but it would be broccoli based. This concept shouldn't be this hard for people when it comes to the difference between Whole Foods and processed foods
Thats a pretty ridiculous study because it takes time for your gut to adapt to a diet, try a 3 month switched dirt with a 3 month gradual transition phase inbetween. Whole food plant based vs carnivore diet.
Why everyone assumes weight loss is a good thing? I don't want weight loss, i want WEIGHT GAIN.
It’s because the majority of people have the opposite problem as you - Americans at large, struggle with overeating, under-exercising, and just generally having a hard time losing excess body fat, for a myriad of reasons, but the main reason is our diets suck. Carbs make people even more hungry, and they’re addicting, so people tend to eat a ton of carbs and end up being protein-deficient among other things.
Sometimes there are those who simply don't respond... to anything. I'm a very small person and have been a ruminant based carnivore for 4 years and didn't gain any weight, but I didn't gain any weight on huge amounts of carbs either. I eat 3lbs of fatty beef per day. It's a mystery thus far.
Every time I go vegan my blood sugar levels go up . When I do low carb my readings go down and Im not hungry
Another garbage study
Absolutely. 2 weeks on each diet with no washout is a joke.
Its really just about healthy protien. As well as long term outlook vs short term imo
In which case plant based would be healthier
Ive been carnivore for 12 hours and i feel amazing. I havent slept, farted or shat once. All hail the amazing polyphenol, magnesium and fiber deficient fad diet of the decade!
Who knows maybe its a social experiment?
Polyphenols and fibre are non essential and I get sufficient magnesium eating only meat.
I've been keto for over 2 years. I run 40 miles a week. My bp went from 145/90 or so to 115/60. I went from 215lbs to 155lbs. My cognitive performance has never been higher. Fads are fads, until they land on truth. But you do you. I call you guys sugar bags.
Sigh, who cares - we all gonna die. Splitting hairs at this point
From what I can understand animal based works fine in the short term but plant based is better in the long term. At least that's what Plant Chompers says. Probably best not to go to either extreme. All centenarians seem to eat a mixed diet.
🥩🥩🧈🥩🥩🧈🥩🧈
Bryan Johnson says otherwise
Dude is a freak
@@ZebraLemur lol maybe but why
@@MS45636 the blood transfusions with his son to extend his life. It's weird
@@ZebraLemur oh ok i have no idea i just look at his diet so far
Of all people to care about, I don’t even think he’s really human.
I just feel better vegan, with eggs as my last animal thing. n of 1 is kind of all that matters 🤷🏼♀️
Sounds like it was not a very good study and biased towards palnt based. Typical
STOP THE STUPID CAMERA ANGLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FRONT FACING ONLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Body weight went down because insulin went down. Whether people are eating less or not is just a byproduct of the weight loss. Not the other way around. People who lose weight will tend to be less hungry and eat less. Mike is confusing the order of causality here. This is a great example of cognitive bias. Mike for some reason is desperately trying to hold on to the caloric theory of obesity 19:00 mark.
Non-processed food diet…. If it’s real food and I’m hungry, I eat. It’s food, not a religion. It’s been over 7 years, I do believe, I am fully detoxed of PUFAs.
60% clean carbs 20% protein 20% clean fats. 😌
When done right, plant based can achieve superior results. Mike wishes he had my physique. 😂
