I'm no expert on anything and have only my story to share. I'm 62 now but since my mid 40's I have had "arthritis" and chronic low back pain. I have taken so many pain pills, had cortisone injections and tried everything to no avail. Then at 59 I DROPPED SUGAR, SEED OILS and went on a ketovore diet for WEIGHT LOSS ONLY. I have not had a bit of low back pain or arthritis in the last 3 years now. Off all 7 daily medications and lost 52 pounds but the loss of pain was the best side effect I have ever experienced. Sounds weird, I know but this is my story.

Makes perfect sense. I have a connective tissue disease called Elhers Danlos. It makes one's joints and skin very mobile. Over time your ligaments can become so loose and mobile that your joints can become unstable. The combination of deconditioning from inactivity during the pandemic and aging made me develop all over joint pain very quickly in my early 60's.
I went to my primary doctor, had blood tests and PT several times, saw orthopedics, even saw a physiatrist and had imaging. They found injuries like a torn labrum and hip impingement. More PT. The Physical therapist never assessed me for anything but gave me a few exercises. I tried to do them but could not walk more than 4 blocks so ultimately it didn't do a lot. They did not connect my osteo arthritis pain and trigger fingers to inflammation coming from high triglycerides. This even though I was eating a whole foods diet but also high carb. I had no idea at first that I was suffering from metabolic syndrome because I was only slightly overweight at the time (26 BMI) and felt good except for the pain. I thought it was Elhers Danlos causing all of it.
Enter Carnivore. Within 3 weeks all the pain except for my injuries was gone. Now I know why. I still get pain from over work, bad posture, and compensation but I can recover quicker and keep trying to walk farther, do more PT exercises while walking and slowly gain strength. I'm also losing weight which will help me put less stress on my joints. How all those doctors could see me and not make the connection baffles me. I'm glad I saved myself. I've got a ways to go but I feel confident I can turn this around on carnivore and with my new found ability to move my body. I'm grateful to shows like this to help me figure out the patterns and fill in the missing pieces of what I need for true health and well being. Thank you!

I am 55yo have hEDS too and do best on a primarily animal-based diet, free of seed oils and grains. I was metabolically unwell at a BMI of barely 18, on a good day. You'll be shocked (s/) to hear it was overlooked. I think we might be wobbly in the metabolic department, as well. It just may or may not look a little different than normies.

I am 52 and have hEDS. I went totally grain free in july 2019 due to all reactions which turned out to be celiac + corn allergy. I mainly eat a grass fed meat diet with a little organic fruit (provides potassium). I do quite well on this diet. Have lots of energy and I can walk quite far. But if I would eat foods I react to (food sensitivities + allergies) my joints would be SO bad! I remember many years ago I had once ate the "wrong" bread and my knees got so bad I could barely get onto a bus. Yet last weekend I walked 11 miles. I definitely have a lot of food sensitivities. I believe its also the junk they spray on the produce too. I have managed to add eggs back to my diet. But I have figured out years ago its certain food that causes joint pain. Or ear ringing. Bananas give me ear ringing. I heard they are ripened with corn based gas. Its nearly impossible to avoid the dumb corn.

I'll post the Dr discussing. I've heard it from 3 sources. But doctors refuse to test fasting insulin for some reason they just test fasting glucose which is not a good indicator of diabetes.

I agree. Grains set me off too.
Many people can tolerate them. I also think that many people are suffering because something they eat every is causing them pain, something they would not even consider.
Years ago I was working at a job where I had to park miles away from the office. Walking was painful. I went on a crash diet to cut way back on carbs for a few days and my foot pain disappeared. Previous such crash diets I had cut back on the wheat products but not eliminated them. I would never have known and probably just assumed it was growing older.

Grains are the worst! I don't eat much rice. Try the AIP diet plan. It's not things you eat that make you better, it's all about certain things you don't eat which causes an immune system reaction and inflammation and pain. In my case grains! Approx 10% of people with RA also become celiacs in later life.

I've had RA for 65 years (Stills disease). Over the many years I have learnt that it is better to keep my weight down, eat a small breakfast - e.g. Greek yoghurt and tree nuts, then a large lunch with lots of variety and light tea - nothing after 8pm. Red wine is the best of the alcoholic drinks (one glass of red a day, white wine causes sinus problems within 30 mins!) and I avoid ALL grains (all wheat, oats, barley and rye gluten and any GF products which contain any type of grain, inc beer :-( -I was diagnosed celiac 8 years ago) - grains are a very big cause of joint pain and inflammation the next day. I use only olive, avocado or coconut oil. I tend to avoid acidic fruit/veg like tomatoes, apples, rhubarb. Apples and coffee induce migraines - haven't had a migraine in 40 years bar the odd accidental ingestion (fruit pectin in a sauce contained apple and didn't find out until too late!). So 65 years of my own experimentation and research seems to agree with this video!

Joint pain is a symptom of hormone decline! Not aging! Frozen shoulder is common in perimenopause and menopause and can be alleviated with hormone replacement! The same is true in men whose T levels have fallen. Hormone replacement helps tremendously!
My frozen shoulder completely resolved after getting an estradiol patch! Make sure to get enough though! I needed the max dose. 1mg estradiol to 1.5mg is great for me! Along with Prometrium. My knee and hip pain disappeared after just weeks of being on hormone replacement!

I went through some horrible low zinc problems , that turned into weak stomach acid and an allergic reaction to foods containing sulphur, I had to avoid sulphur untill I found out my problem, and sulphur is an necessary element and. I found out that the body uses sulphur to make natural glucosamine , So for some people they might need more zinc, copper and sulphur containing foods like eggs and supplement with Msm to increase the glucosamine level in the body. I've never heard of any one being said to be glucosamine depleted but I believe we will in the future . This may be the cause of disc disaccation or drying out , wich can lead to other severe conditions .

Many women have trouble with this diet as they are traditionally less likely to find a big fatty steak desirable. But, many women, including my wife, have received stunning results. Good luck.

@@shirleyblaisdell9445 hi. When talking diet, contrary to popular opinion, cholesterol levels are not particularly important. My cholesterol levels went high initially and then stabilised after a while. Im not at all concerned. Cholesterol has been demonised unjustly, it is not the cause of cardiovascular disease, insulin resistance is, caused by sugar and carbs. The best indicator of cardiovascular disease is the total calcium score. Mine returned recently at zero, none detected. Unprecedented. Most carnivores return similiar scores. Ive kicked all my meds. Statin meds are awful and pointless. The combination of our 'destroy cholesterol at all costs ' approach and Statin meds is likely the cause of the explosion of mental health issues. I no longer expect to get, or fear, alzheimers or parkinsons. The brain is over 40% cholesterol, and is the body's prime user of it. Starving the brain of cholesterol has obvious effects. On Carnivore I lost 75lbs effortlessly. I cured t2 diabetes in week 3. My inflammation markers are incredibly low. I sleep like a baby. I dont snore. I never get hungry, i never get tired. My mental health is fabulous. Brain fog, depression, anxiety; all just vanish. Jump in, my transformation has been somewhat startling for me. I am constantly surprised as to how good i feel at 63. Im back in the workplace now shaming guys half my age. I go orienteering with my dogs, as an act of pleasure. My testosterone is through the roof. I have regained my life and my power.

56 years old, active with resistance 10:41 tracing my entire adult life, recently I had a meniscus tear and it could become inflamed from certain activities to the point my whole leg from hip to ankle would throb with searing pain. This inflammation also caused my BP to spike. I dropped carbs and the first day pain dropped from a 10 down to a 3, second day pain was around 1 to 0, stayed that way for a week. Ate a small amount of carbs after a week at one meal and knee pain was back in 30 min after that meal, at maybe a 4. No more carbs since and pain stays around zero, except sometimes after walking 6-8k steps it will return to a 1 or 2 briefly. Not sure what’s going on but carbs set off an inflammation cascade and it’s repeatable. Also BP is normal now 115/72 average morning and night.

I get severe joint pain from mostly sugar aka fructose. I do drink once a week so take that as you will. Anyway I went vegan last year and became a cripple at 53yrs old. I kept at it but my joints suddenly got so bad I was bed ridden. I thought I was sugar free but after looking at my diet I found up to 100gms to 150gms of sugar aka half fructose.I have to keep repeating this as some health channels, more specifically Delaur has repeatedly shown videos titled sugar and its detriments but shows bread, rice and pasta.
Anyway so I noticed the amount of sugar and did a test for a month where all I ate was non sugar aka pure glucose foods such as rice and pasta and oats. I found out that my inflammation is the worst from sugar, MUCH less reduced inflammation when on starch and little inflammation when doing carnivore. I am so sensitive to sugar that I went and purchased a canned soup and ate it one night and woke up in pain. I then tested and tested with zero sugar foods and lo and behold at least for me the fructose is the culprit. Its everywhere from bread to chips to even hot sauce.

I did keto and lost weight and all the swelling in my knees, hands and ankles a few years ago. I have an allergy to eggs, nuts, almonds are the highest nut reaction on allergy blood test, and shellfish. So it was an extremely limited diet. Then I started having gut issues, almost passed out from pain and ended up in hospital after bleeding from bowels for several days. Had scarring showing on colonoscopy. So I'd love to try again, but scared of ending up having the same problem. I consume fiber powder, olive oil, dates, plus extra senna when needed now just to keep regular. I don't eat wheat as also have thyroid issues and gluten is a no no for thyroid but eat other grains to keep my system regular. I've incorporated collagen powder and now starting gelatin in my 1 coffee every morning. Walking great with some knee pain but much less. Also strength training with weights at home has helped immensely with general energy and health. Any ideas of how to do keto or carnivore successfully without constipation?

No need to listen, here is the breakdown.,
    1. **Metabolic Origins of Osteoarthritis (0:20)**: It's recognized that osteoarthritis is not just a mechanical degeneration of joints but also has metabolic factors. Metabolic syndrome, which includes conditions like obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia, is linked to increased systemic inflammation that can exacerbate osteoarthritis.
    2. **Low Carb Diet and Exercise (0:30)**: Diet and exercise are essential in managing osteoarthritis. A low carbohydrate diet can help reduce inflammation, and regular physical activity is known to improve joint function and reduce pain. Both are standard recommendations for managing arthritis symptoms.
    3. **Inflammation and Body Weight (3:50)**: There is a well-established link between obesity and osteoarthritis. Adipose (fat) tissue releases inflammatory cytokines that can contribute to joint degradation.
    4. **Leptin and Inflammation (5:00)**: Leptin, primarily produced by fat cells, has been implicated in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis. High levels of leptin are associated with inflammation and may contribute to the degenerative process in joint tissues.
    5. **Glucose, Insulin, and Leptin Levels (7:05)**: Insulin resistance, a common feature of metabolic syndrome, is related to increased leptin levels and can contribute to the systemic inflammatory state affecting the joints.
    6. **Compressing Feeding Window (8:45)**: This likely refers to intermittent fasting, which can reduce inflammation and improve metabolic health, potentially benefiting those with osteoarthritis.
Overall, the points made in your video snapshot are consistent with emerging understandings of osteoarthritis as a disease influenced by metabolic factors and lifestyle choices. Regular exercise, weight management, and dietary adjustments are part of comprehensive management strategies for osteoarthritis.

I suffered sciatica pain from 16 to 43 and a variety of joint pain, but just assumed that it would be present for the rest of my life or until I had back surgery.
That all changed after I began the carnivore diet and committed to gradually increasing my range of motion through stretching and deep squats.
I am confident that the day will come when we look back and realize that so many of our ailments and chronic issues were really just metabolic in nature and could be fixed through a proper human diet and movement. I’m guessing that won’t happen until corporations figure out a way to profit off of that solution as well as they currently do with pharmaceuticals.

What happens is that the degeneration begins from metabolic dysfunction and then the wear- tear kicks in and on top of that, most ppl don't know that they can change diet/ life style so the continue to do whatever began the process in the first place.. so of course it gets worse over time.

    Question:
    Mike,
I'm 59. I've always eaten a few carbs (complex) and little sugars and have never been overweight.
For the past 1.5 years I've increased my health routine:
    - Fasting; having only an early dinner with mostly meats and veggies (then a couple of dark chocolate squares as dessert)
    - Gym, 4 times a week with warm-up elliptical machine, HIIT, weights.
    - 5 km of fast walking almost every day
    - Sleep 9 hours
My blood work has been great.
Now, both my knees suddenly have low cartilage levels, showing on MRIs. The doctor prescribed hyaluronic injections, since apparently, there is nothing else I can do.
What am I supposed to do? It's frustrating that this is happening at the peak of my "doing the right things".
I'm scared to continue walking and exercising since the problems started because of that?

Used to ski, hike, walk and did gymnastics/cheerleading when young that I blame on my hip joint pain. BUT....this new way of thinking sounds good. Can I cure my hip issues by dietary means so that I do not need hip surgery?

I ate carnivore for 7 months. The stiffness in my hands got a bit better. The pain became ... worse . I'm jealous of all the people who had good results in such a short time. I didn't. It definately doesn't work for everyone. The last part of carnivore I did lion diet, drinking only water . Couldn't continue with it anymore. Tired of no result and tired of eating beef. Started to have problem with gallbladder too.

Have you heard of the book The Glucose Revolution? It’s by a French biochemist. I forgot her name. It’s about how to manage your glucose levels and how they affect the body with inflammation etc. I’m the same as you with carnivore. I also get kidney pain and feel very unwell with liver and gallbladder pain. I do have fatty liver though from a high carb lifestyle previously. I’m trying to do the glucose revolution method with my food now. Low starch high fibre veggies to start my meal, protein second and high starch if needed at the end. It’s supposed to blunt the glucose spike and reduce inflammation and glycation.

Starting to make some connections here. Joint pain is related to inflammation, as seems to be every disease. And grounding outside can greatly reduce inflammation. And being that inflammation seems to be the root cause of just about every health issue, grounding can help with just about anything. I've experienced some benefits, including less abdominal pain/discomfort when I go barefoot outside, but I hope to increase the amount of time spent outside as time goes on and thus see even more benefits.

In Ayurveda, it is believed that joint pain (like most pains) is a vata (wind) disease. Low Agni (digestive fire) causes incomplete digestion and amongst other things causes vata/wind/gas and this not only causes but also aggravates arthritis. Anybody can start fasting and experience relief. Do a 24-hour fast and see if the pain does not come down. It will.

Its confusing, isnt it? You say its hard, and you try, but sometimes you know you eat something inflammatory, sometimes you overeat something that might be ok in smaller quantities, I'm guessing sometimes you hurt and have no idea why? Can you even imagine how it would be to NOT hurt, consistently? What would you be willing to do? I had very painful arthritis in my mid-twenties - doc said take aspirin till it didn't work, then I'd get cortisone shots, and btw I had to stop all this activity with horses (my main life's passion)! I'm now 78, still riding, still jogging (4 hilly mi 3x a week), even just started trimming my mare's hooves!! 💪 . I had a lot of "lessons" along the way, but I now say I'd be willing to "eat cardboard" for the rest of my life, if necessary, that no taste, no texture, no momentary mouth pleasure is worth losing a bit of my vitality. Dont get me wrong - I looove sweets, and baked potatoes with butter and sourcream, and hot garlic bread, and Mexican and ravioli!, but I only eat relaxed carnivore (allowing a few plant items like coffee, seasonings), even at church potlucks! May God bless you with a clear path to a pain-free life ❤️🙏❤️

@@judymiller5154 thank you so much for your inspiring message! When I had no choice but to come off of the ridiculously expensive Remicade infusions, my body had to go through a detox process. I noticed that those heavy duty chemotherapy drugs with my hormones, my digestion… Everything! I stopped getting a period in my early 30s for about six years.hen I was able to take some time off from working, And focus on my mental and physical health… running most days of the week, going to spin classes and doing Pilates, eating whole nutritious foods. Mostly just drinking water, green tea, coffee, and apple cider vinegar. And completely completely cutting gluten and nightshade vegetables…l my psoriatic arthritis went away. Eliminating stress was a huge factor. And making sure that I really made my lungs work to get rid of any toxins like the black mold that was in my apartment. So I would try and do training or like you said running up hills to increase my oxygen levels. I lived pain-free and free of psoriasis for a few years but now I’m back to being poor again since my rent has tripled and I kind of went through a trauma about six months ago and I noticed that the information came back tenfold. And foods that didn’t inflame me before like sweet potatoes And dark chocolate and red grapes have definitely contributed to weight gain and inflammation for some reason. So it’s about finding the right balance. But life will definitely be easier. I could just eliminate the stress and not have to worry so much.
