      Can you tailor the cadences beyond the default setups, for example, a 4 seconds negative followed by a one-second pause, followed by a 2-second concentric, and so forth? Also, how about the resistance? Can you set it up so it follows the correct strength curve of the muscles, as opposed to just a linear type of resistance that only works the weakest part of the range of motion but leaves the strongest part of the range of motion untouched, similar to the cam effect of the Nautilus machines?

    Would this work for someone who can deadlift over 300 lbs and bench 225-235? I’m thinking of this or the apolo board 2. I hear digital weight is heavier. Don’t really care much about strength train in anymore as my main goal is just hypertrophy

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  12 дней назад

      If goal is just hypertrophy you could get it to work. If it is strength, I don't think it would be enough though if you are at 300lbs already. While it does feel harder with the digital weight, it isn't that much of a difference.

      I just measured it and it has a circumference of 3.5 inches and a diameter of 1inch. You could add plates (if the holes in your plates fit the diameter, but there is nothing to stop the dumbbells so you may need to add something, or just do it without extra stops on the bar.

    I realize the big difference in resistance between the Gym Pal and Vitruvian. However is the overall smoothness of the cables/workouts similar? Is there any way to use Gym Pal without an app or without WIFI? I do not need classes or tracking and just want to do basic movements with the least hassle and using an app or internet connection is a bit of a hassle. It would suck to lose WIFI in middle of a workout. Thank u.

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  11 месяцев назад +1

      You have to use the app to use the device. It is one of the potential cons. I haven't had any issues with the app yet, but I mostly use the Gym Monster as I prefer it, and the programs are synced right into the device and displayed on screen instead of a phone bluetooth connection (from what I can tell).
      In terms of smoothness, it is very good. Occasionally I will get some jitteriness with heavy loads, but only at around 200+ resistance. It's not all the time, only sometimes I notice it.

      I'm very limited on space, and I can't see paying for the Gym Master with the recent price increases, so I was going to go with this. Now I will not be getting this due to the necessity of using the app 😢 I'm okay with using apps in general, but not for something like this. I have to re-think my plan.

      Hi,
      Had my machine for 2 weeks now. Unfortunately I got stung with some customs and import charges and a bit of back and forth with customer services over some price changes (They basically reduced the price the day after I paid)
      The machine itself is great and incredibly versatile and the different modes add a little something extra.
      It's worth the money and am happy with my purchase.
      Just a couple of issues.
      My LED lights sometimes stop working but after powering down they spring back to life. The app could do with a bit of work, especially around living history and progress.
      I've just seen your post on the Facebook Speediance community where you update your stats. Have been building and enhancing my own custom workouts since I bought it so hopefully will get similar gains of I work at it.

    Can you perform barbell cleans?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Месяц назад +1

      I don't perform that exercise, but you could. However, you wouldn't get the same feeling as the tension pulling down is different than how gravity acts with a free weight for that particular exercise. With the clean, once you get it moving through space, your muscles relax before you "catch" the bar again. With the Speediance, it is a constant pull (based on the setting you use) so the section where the bar moves through space wouldn't feel the same - it would be harder. Just my 2 cents on the exercise for this type of resistance.

  • @julianfp1952
    @julianfp1952 5 месяцев назад

    Thanks for the review. I have two questions….
    1 - Can the app display real-time stats during an exercise like the screen on the Gym Monster does? (Maybe fewer since the screen is a lot smaller but at least some like counts?) I see that the app also has an iPad version so I’m hoping I could put my iPad on a stand to be able to see the screen during workouts.
    2 - One year on from your review & with Speediance’s frequent software updates are there by any chance any cardio exercises yet?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  4 месяца назад +1

      1: yes, you should see the app update as you complete reps to see how you performed it, if the resistance has changed (if you use the assistance), how many reps are completed, etc.
      2: No. It is still just a platform for resistance training exercises. There have been updates, but no cardio exercises.

    How is the feel compared to the Vitruvian…the smoothness and one mayne hitching/glitching more. I know the Vitruvian has more weight and nicer accessories maybe, but the actual movements….how do they compare?

    • @GamerBody
      @GamerBody  Год назад

      Feels very smooth. So far all of them have been good for me, including both the Gym Monster and Gym Pal. No catching or hitching of any kind in my tests so far. I'm very impressed with how smooth it is.
      You may find you shake at first, even with less resistance, but that is because of how the machine constantly applies the full resistance and you can't get any assistance from momentum. I think this is why most exercises like squats feel a lot harder with "less" resistance than free weights.

    Would you recommend the Speediance Gym Pal over the Virturuvian+ Trainer? Given the price difference, this seems like an attractive option. I spoke with someone that said the Speediance FB group is pretty good, but I have a couple saying support hasn't been great. I haven't used them as I just have my contact, but I hope they do improve it more.
      To answer your question, yes, I like the Gym Pal more. While you don't have as much resistance available, it is a bit more compact, lighter, and very easy to setup and use (also cheaper). Both are great in their own right, but if I bought one now, it would be the Gym Pal.
      Note: I haven't used the Vitruvian in a long time, so they might have made changes I am not aware of. I returned it because of the monthly membership cost and limited features without it at the time.

      Kind of depends. For my needs, I like the Gym Pal more as it is way cheaper, has enough resistance for me to work with for some time, is a much smaller size, and the ring is great. Vitruvian may have made updates since I used it, but if it hasn't the only major pros it has are the resistance it can prove (400 vs 220) and fail mode. Luckily with the ring you can now fail out and end a set pretty easily with the Gym Pal. If I start maxing out the weight though, it would definitely fall on Vitruvian.

      The potential of the Gym Pal is greater than Nuobells as it can produce more resistance and is more constant throughout each rep. Meaning, momentum does not assist you with the Gym Pal as free weights like dumbbells can (the faster you move dumbbells, the more momentum assists you in moving the weight).
      Both options will work as long as you can generate a great enough stimulus for the body to focus on building muscle (normally within 0-2 reps to failure).
