hi @Merryfrankster !!!! came across your video showing how to remove the engine out of rx300. best video on this so i instantly subbed. so i have a question, you seem like you work on nothing but these lexus/toyota products, iu seem knowledgable. so i have a white rx300 just like in the videos, for about 3/4years.minimal maintenance.no major issues, until one day i got engine light for random misfires. injector seals were leaking, fixed it, then another year later into its fourth , i got coolant leaks , drove it for while like this topping off , eventually got vvt bank2 codes, timing belt jumped??? replaced water pump andf belt,,, realized i have coolant in the cylinders right after the job , noticed coolant in the exhaust and smoke. head gasket must went cus the water pump was left unattended to too long and was run hot once or twice . well after all that i noticed the trans cooler lines were leaking and i decided i was going to fill it up fix the rusty cooler line and drive it until i figure out what to do with it, so after 1 quart of fluid , that claims type iv approved, it starts slipping into second gear.. ?? so now its parked . kind of weird how a fill could cause it to slip and or not go into gear unless the old fluid what little it had was keeping it going it always had a whirring sound too? is this normal? i recently bought a black one that runs and drives ok, have plans on pulling out both drivetrains and swapping into my white one. the black rx300 doesnt like to shift 3rd gear when its cold though ? i have to let it warm up for 5 mins or ill be doing 20mph stuck in second gear the whole time? is this ok?? makes the same whirring sound the white one makes. any tips for swapping drivetrains??my shop has these plastic crate looking things the head tech uses to sit small engines on you think it woould be ok on that?? also , i hate how the rx shifts all the way down to first gear when your taking turns and slowing down, because it just slows you down you have to wait for it to shift and its kind of jerky not smooth, but overall its ok for awd.

You've got a lot going on with these cars. Too much for me to consider technically. At some point you have to evaluate whether it's worth the time, money and effort that you are putting in.

Awesome tips. You got many cool videos on 3mz and 2gr. I would never have the ability to pull these engine but it's cool to watch...my Rav4 2GR-FE didn't have rear heater core so I'm safe from the leaky valve. Have a wonderful Christmas and next year.

Just did this swap last year on my Rx300 and this is what I learned and wanna share with anyone out there. There seems to be 3 generations of this transmission, the early one doesn’t have a vent while the newer generation has the vent. Personally, I just picked up the cover from the junkyard to replace the Highlander cover. Secondly, I noticed that the early models have a shaft between the transmission and transfer case while the newer models don’t. They are also distinguished by a different bell housing configuration. Overall the job isn’t that bad as long as you ensure that you have the right transmission going in.

As shown in the video, not enough to just switch covers, you have to seal the vent if it's there. Thanks for the info about the transfer case. Usually these come of a piece together trans and tc and we've not had to disassemble them.

I am capable of rebuilding a M/T. But not an A/T.

@@Merryfrankster_ we are a Lexus family. I own a 2018 ES350, my wife owns a 2017 IS300 AWD and our 16 year old owns a 2008 ES350. I just changed out the rear diff fluid on my wife’s AWD and it went really well. I don’t have anything as of right now to request but I will definitely reach out if anything comes up. The one thing I’m plagued with is changing transmission fluid on these cars because I’m afraid of doing it wrong and getting the temperature right and either under or overfilling them. That is my only suggestion now if you have any advice. Thanks so much.
