Hoping you can help.... I have a 2007 5.9 liter dodge diesel with 76k miles on it, and when dropping the trans fluid from the pan and replacing it it levels out to about 5 quarts or so. However, when leaving my truck parked for an extended period of time, say two to three weeks the trans dipstick goes from just enough trans fluid to way above the hashmark max setting. Say about 1.5 quarts or so. Could be a tad less. This is only happens when the truck is sitting for an extended period of time. I've been told that one will get some additional transmission fluid in the pan from things like the torque converter etc when sitting but it just doesn't make sense. Now, when I drive it, it drives fine then when I check the trans fluid at around 160 degrees F it doesn't even read on the stick. I then read somewhere that the trans fluid needs to reach about 180 degrees before you check the trans fluid in neutral for that make and model. At this point, I simply don't know if the amount of trans fluid is correct or not or if there is additional trans fluid which does drop into my existing pan is normal. thanks.

Hello, I have a problem with Hyundai Tucson 2005 diesel 113hp with torque converter. The mechanic would think that maybe the injectors are not giving pressure and could be coming from the engine, I am confused.

My 2010 nissan altima v6 has a cvt it had p0744, p0740, p0725 but also a p0826 up and down switch input circuit. And. On the test i did at autozone it said tcc solenoid valve function was the issue as a secondary dtc. And that the electrical circuit was intermittent for a predetermined period of time. I checked my valve body. I did a drain and fill and then another full drain with pan drop and put in the correct amount of fluid and properly measured this second time around. I checked the valve body i did an ohm resistance test on the torque converter solenoids as well as the shifter solenoids and compared them with a brand new but incorrect solenoid and all the ohms resistances came back correctly for my model. Universal nissan tells me that i need a new torque converter. I imagine this is what i am going to take my car to a regular transmission shop so that they can do this job and fix it. What do you say? Also there was a shuddering just before my car broke down. I was in drive and the car shuddered as it started to get up to speed. After that the car was essentially feeling like its in neutral. Because its cvt the computer does not let the car rev past 1500 rpms at most. And i get sort of chatter noise sometime but not everytime. Like zzzzz sound but it goes away. It only happens when i leave the car sitting and the fluid apparently drains out into the transmission itself. There were seemingly not shavings but things stuck to the magnets at the bottom of the drain pan which could be from the torque converter failure. Thankfully i think the transmission is fine but if this car gets fixed i plan on selling it anyway so i can purchase a manual vehicle which i know will have way less complexity when it comes to diagnosis of why it doesnt drive.
What about when i drive and i switch to N there's a vibration but if i press the gas pedal it disappears, could be this the unbalanced n47 engine vibration or the converter ???!!

For some reason my message disappeared. At over 70 Mph our car has begun to shutter as you describe. Mechanic says its Torque Convertor. But we also noticed a kick in shifting as well like when approaching an intersection rolling expecting to stop but instead we press the gas to accelerate and occasionally there is a bump which I think is slipping. Main question as Ive seen your video over and over. Since the transmission is coming down anyway to put in rebuilt Torque Convertor should the Transmission also be rebuilt ? Hello, I have a Renault Fluence 2.0 16v that uses Jet CVT. I've searched several places and found nothing about. I have a pocket obd2 scanner and I do not have any type of DTC, but my car on very steep climbs, simply decouples the torque converter and the engine speed remains high, but because the engine and CVT are decoupled, enters the Engine Brake, lowering the speed quickly. When the converter couples again, there is a kind of "slingshot effect", precisely because the rotation of the CVT and the Motor are different. Have you ever seen something like this? Notes: I notice shaking, "iron dragging" noises and the like.

@@jakecardus7940 so basically i suspected bad torque converter but trust me its not worth just fixing one part and parts add up to almost the same cost of a reman transmision from nissan so thats what i did i just replace the transmission myself luckily i had a commercial account and the transmission came out cheaper but for you it can cost up to $3000 to $3500 retail and thats not including oil and other stuff and i started up the car and did some calibration resets with my scanner and felt nice no stalling but im going to get it reprogram professionally just to be on the safe side which is another $250 the dealer closest to me wanted 400$ for a simple reporgram
Wait so it only shudders/vibrates when accelerating? My truck also vibrates when decelerating at certain speeds. Is that still the torque converter or something else?
Shouldn't the filter pick up any shards of metal? And the magnet
Hello, I have a problem with Hyundai Tucson 2005 diesel 113hp with torque converter. When I accelerate and the engine revs increase, a strange noise is heard while driving, on the right side of the engine (it sounds like some blankets with water that are half filled and are being moved). When the revs increase and subsequently the speed, that sound is no longer heard . Have you encountered such a situation or can you give me some advice please? The mechanic would think that maybe the injectors are not giving pressure and could be coming from the engine, I am confused.
I'm struggling with my Isuzu ELF 3Tone truck, the torque converter seal keeps on letting the oil down. I have changed it many times but the problem still comes. What could be the reason that's causing it?
Excellent Sir thanks for the info
Question. I am hearing a clanging sound when I turn the car left and it’s driving 5 mph.
When I do a u turn left . I hear the clanging at 5 mph only. Is this the torque converter
Could my truck shift into 2nd gear and just sit at 1000rpm because my torque converter is bad it also started leaking trans fluid after this happened
Hi there I have a problem with my 2015 GMC Acadia when I'm driving 20 to 30mp feels vibration my mechanic said transmission valve body but I'm not sure I don't want to spend money for nothing don't have no codes
here’s my question for y’all, i’m about to buy the parts and drop the transmission down myself; but would my torque converter make a extremely loud whining noise on cold start but go away once the engine and the transmission fluid are all warmed up?
Question, can a torque converter just fail and make it where the vehicle can no longer go into any gear
Any info on that ?
@@isaiahthegoat785 yea it can I put a new torque converter and now the truck works again
My replacement transmission is doing this ,But no codes,on my 2011gmc 2500hd
My honda pilot just 4olls. Whether its on park or drive. Its like its in neutral i have to put on the brake.. my transmission fluid was brown before and just havent got time to put in new oil. It maked a whirring noise after i put it back in park
What about when i drive and i switch to N there's a vibration but if i press the gas pedal it disappears, could be this the unbalanced n47 engine vibration or the converter ???!!
sir i rebuild complete rebuild transmission when i put r and d engine imidetly shut off then i cheak with sceaner no any cod can you advice me how i fix it
I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado 4x4 with 265k miles on it. It slips out of 4th gear under mild to hard acceleration. Is a bad torque converter a likely problem or is this more commonly a transmission issue?
did you solve Colorado issue?
@@itsturbinetime No. Never have
Hi I have a Ford Escape 2007 and suddenly overdrive started flashing my car did not change the gear so I replaced the band I thought it was gonna fix the problem but after installation and testing it does not shift anymore I need help if you can guide me
My 04 f150 has literally every symptom lol, it barely rolls under it’s own power now it slips bad haha. I needa get down there and change that thing in a couple weeks when it starts cooling down some
You fix it?
For some reason my message disappeared.
At over 70 Mph our car has begun to shutter as you describe.
Mechanic says its Torque Convertor. But we also noticed a kick in shifting as well like
when approaching an intersection rolling expecting to stop but instead we press the gas to accelerate and occasionally there is a bump
which I think is slipping.
Main question as Ive seen your video over and over.
Since the transmission is coming down anyway to put in rebuilt Torque Convertor
should the Transmission also be rebuilt ?
The car Land Rover LR3 with ZF Transmission has 215,000 Miles on it in New Jersey with a lot of stop and go.
Thank you
What did you end up deciding? I’m facing a similar dilemma.
@@CalebTalbot17 On ours I was wrong. Our mechanic said there was a liquid that would smooth out torque converter..he put it in..no improvement. So by surprise he shows up at my house on a Sunday with the Transmission rebuild guy and they take it out for a drive for 45 minutes. They come back and they say not transmission..it's the drive shaft. We take it in and he confirms it was the drive shaft. I got an oem drive shaft he put it in and it was solved. Some of the guys on the Land Rover forum said to check drive shaft. The other odd symptom of not quite taking off with that exhale sound I changed the Upper and lower Oxygen Sensors which we had never done but supposed to be changed at around 100k miles.Did us good. Good luck. We look at Atlantic British Maintenance Schedules to try and keep it going.
God bless
Would a bad torque converter cause your vehicle to not be able to drive forward. But can still Reverse.
My Toyota Darango camper-van 4 sp auto struggles up steep hill in first? the rpm remains steady but comes to a crawl.
Thanks cause my Honda accord is acting crazy 😢
In my Mazda Tribute 2.3 4x2 automatic transmission, shifting gears no longer works. Whenever I shift to "D," the car does not drive as if it is in "N." What could be the problem with the transmission?
Hi I just recently started hearing that whirring/whining noise when I start to accelerate from a stop it's when I started to notice my car doesn't accelerate like before. Could this be happening to my car?? Yes also slipping gears.
Changing gear soon / Just leave it until you Got all gear as N , cause you reched to critical level 😢💔
Hey Cool mechanic. I have the same t converter that you have lol. Its sounds like there is sand inside when i spin it. Is this normal?. I never opened one… but it’s so weird. i hear shake noises like sand in a bottle.
Yes it's normal
UM TUNED IN,,,THANKS FOR THE KNOWLEDGE
Could a bad trans also have a smell of like driving with the emergency brake on? That brake pad smell?
How many litres of transmission fluid we fill in the torque converter
My ford fusion shudders. While driving, it also jumps up and down on the gears as I can see it on the RPM gauge and feel it.
Leaking governor case or gasket?
My cars stuck in first, whining, and pops out of gear when it gets hot. Is this the torque converter
Very well explained
So my vehicle doesn't shudder until i stop completely and hold the brake. Is that the same?
I feel i just got ripped off by dealer with this issue by taking it to them and then claiming because no engine code light was on they can’t narrow don’t the issue?? So they know it shudders but then they say the warranty won’t cover two repairs related to the issue. Dealers says it could be converter or another transmission issue but only one will get covered and I’m to keep driving til a light comes on oh and after all of that i had to pay a $959 charge for the transmission service not covered. So now I’m
Back to driving a jeep doing the same issue.
I have a 08 Ford Edge mine has no codes but shutters if Accelerate hard from stop to go or at times when it drops from 60-40 but a tap of the gas it stops plz help
2013 impala it has been shuttering with shutter fix for 10k miles never over heats or cooks the fluid yet i know living on borrowed time... some ppl have gotten 20k before its stuck in 3rd or dies at a red light ... thing is its the value of the car to get a remann or worse new from gm most places want to replace valves with the converter aka rebuild at 185k and 11 years old prob just drive it into ground maybe throw a used low mile if i can get it under 3k installed had luck with old gm 4 speeds towards 300k miles the 6 speed is junk at 180k
I have a Mazda demio 1998 automatic transmission the mechanic did an engine overhaul now it wont engage into any gear changed the pump still not circulation of the transmission oil please help
I have the p0741 code in mines and it’s fine until I drive it for a long time at 75 mp once I get off highway and proceed it takes a long time to catch speed then it goes normal again it takes long to catch speed in the beginning but it goes away once I let it sit and cool for a lil there’s no signs of over heating transmission
i cant change my transmission oil filter ;DDD
aisin tf 80 sc needs to be opened like wide open to change it and i dont even know if they sell the filters
My 1992 Lincoln town car slips when it’s cold. (Ford AOD)
If I don’t let my car warm up for at least 10 minutes, when I first go into gear everything will seem fine until I come to the first stop, then it seems to neutral out and stops moving, if I bring the RPM up it’ll jump back into gear. Only happens on the first time I stop, when it’s cold. If I let her warm up it’s fine. No slippage at all when it’s warm, but hard shifts. Fluid is topped off, so that’s not the issue. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

try replacing the transmission filter but i had a similar issue on my old 85 f150 with a 351w and it turned out that the timing was slightly retarded and my ignition was so far off when it was cold that it would bog out until it hit about 160°
Hello, I have a Renault Fluence 2.0 16v that uses Jet CVT.
Im not getting any codes my car ran fine earlier got food went to doctor appointment and got gas was driving like 20-30 minutes when I got home It started bogging ahuddering and cutoff I turned it on wngine is fine In Park And Neutral but when I put it in Drive or Reverse it cuts off like something isnt letting it go into gear
Very good information
Another one is your car shudders and turns off at a stop. Turns right back on. Does it again and again. Subarus are common for that
Yes very useful thank you
How about loss of power. Kind of a big one
Can I see leakage when it is damaged
Yes it can leak
What if it clunks when I put it in reverse no whining noise or shudder it just makes a clunk when I put it into reverse
Did you try replacing the fluid ?
Hey , i have restored torque converter in the car , old was Bad and i change it with restored, but the problem now is the car from 30mph up to 50mph, RPM jumping from 1500-1300 and after 60mph its okey
Or its just Bad job on torque converter?
What ended up being the problem?
And you feel like you driving tractor...
Yes that’s a perfect description!!
But my Cummins is a tractor and drive like that anyways
Thanks boss
Would it cause to slip at 3rd gear?
Yeah, my mechanic told me that
