You're right. Although my experience with KTM has left a very bad taste for me. I must say that modern machines have lot more sensors and electronics which can be a paon at times. One of my bikes had a problem with FI system which caused it to stay in SCs for months at times (in 6 months of ownership, it spent 4 months in SVC), and it was some retarded sensor at the end that was faulty. So at times it can be a bad product, at times it might be just a bad luck as owner. It will be interesting to see what caused this unit You're riding to fail, and hopefully you can post an update for the sake of all those planning to buy it.
I test rode this bike. And I absolutely disagree with you. It's not at all tough to maneuver, it feels heavy only when you are moving it around say a parking lot. Once you are on it, feels like a pulsar, and there's some vibrations upto the 2nd gear and from the 3rd it becomes an absolute beast. Pretty good overall.

The reliability issues may subside with more batches of these motorcycles being manufactured. Right now, it is either reliable or unreliable, as Noraly got a very reliable unit, while Yammie got a bad one. So let's wait for a few months until Royal Enfield fixes the issues.
It is an offset mono-shock with linkage. Even the older Himalayan hand mono-shock with linkage. This one is offset, allowing for better ground clearance while keeping lower seat height, and narrower vehicle profile.

I think Royal Enfield must consider rectangular side mirrors which has better coverage which is very important. I know round mirrors are the signature but this is of no use. And hope this new Himalayan doesn’t have engine issues as 411 bs3 bs4 had
It’s not the reliability of the engine, as you try to start it, the self starter is not at all cranking the engine. So probably it’s not the issue of the engine, it’s because of some relays which won’t be working, not getting its ground at all. Or some sensors may be send wrong signals to the engine ECU. As you reved it so hard, even the thermostat would stop the engine to be started until the engine gets to its normal temperature. At least you should have checked it’s temperature, if radiator fan is not working , or low coolant level, or thermostat complaints may lead to this problem. If the engine is cranking, still it’s not starting means we can complain the engine fuel line first, then it’s reliability. Anyway I expect you to update the issue once it’s done.
The first 500km you are supposed to run the bike in very gently, Owners manuals usually say something along the lines of - For the first 500 to 1,000 km's, avoid using more than ¾ throttle. and during that period avert high engine speeds. I am certain the Royal Enfield owners manual gives similar advice and they give that advice for very good reasons, looks like you have found out one of those reasons,

I feel sorry for RE and your fellow countrymen producing this motorcycle for the abuse and 'testing' I have seen on this and many other Himalayan test rides. Redline in neutral, zero to 150kph with poor clutch control, gear changes on full throttle or half a clutch use with a dragging hand to restore power and no machanical sympathy to highlight a few of these youtubers! Nothing I have observed has made me question my decision to order a 'tubeless Hanle Black' which will not be available for me in uk until march next year. I wonder if any purchaser of their own Himalayan will be mistreating their machines to this extreme as none of the professional RE launch reporters felt this need when riding in the himalayans. If this 40hp/40nm engine is falling short for any buyer then perhaps a larger engine should be considered. I myself am making this my 'second bike' following on from 5 different bmw R1200's, one I still intend to keep (R1200RS SE) also japanese Kawasaki/Yamaha 1100, 1200cc engines. I have never felt the need to use the redline engine rev limiter on any motorcycle as an override to poor technique, 'change gear reminder' when nearing the limit and doubt many motorcycle owners would mistreat their own machines to the level I have seen in the last 4 weeks. I am impressed that you are the first youtuber that has managed to break an new Re Himalayan which bodes well for the long term hopes I have for my order.
No need to feel sorry. This bike is being tested by RE for ages now. It was supposed to be launched in 2020. Nothing wrong in exploring different use cases. The reviewer rides all bikes in same fashion. By your logic all bikes he rides need to break down.
Thanks Faisal for the amazing walk through, I am planning to buy this beast next year, what would be the best time to buy it, as I want a refined product.
Glad I picked up the Triumph Scrambler 400X instead of Himalayan 450. Reliability and RE still far flung cousins, not in awe of each other. The 2024 Yezdi Adventure needs to be reviewed
Well the manual clearly states not to rev hard on neutral. It also states to maintain proper rev and acceleration ration. In this video I felt the bike was revved hard and abused. No wonder it stalled
This could be a one-off manufacturing issue but to call it unreliable in the video subtitle is a bit extreme, did itchyboots find it unreliable as she rode it for over 2000kms from Leh to Rajasthan
That's called influencer marketing. If KTM starts doing it god help RE. Dream chaser has been riding batch 1 390 ADV across continents. No one will talk about that since it is non sponsored content.
That why I love @FasBeam he just show how engines and new product to introduce in front of the market RE is my next bike but clarity is what a customer needs 🙂
This needs a Correction: the bike comes with CEAT tubeless tires but stock spoke tubed rims. What is waiting for homologation in India are the spoke tubeless rims (currently on the export market bikes), which will be available as an accessory first and then standard on top trims in India. The tires are all the same tubeless tires, whether you have tubeless rims or not! 😂
@@Smart.PotatoIndian government has banned the import of tubeless spoke rims . RE is working on manufacturing it locally , maybe the bike you're talking about sources its rims from some local manufacturer which for some reason RE couldn't source from .

It'd have been great if you had shown/recorded the instance leading to the engine failure since, without the footage, we have to rely on your word that it is indeed a reliability issue and not a handling issue.
According to the owners manuel of the Himalayan 450 : running in @ max 4000 rpm till km 500. Then first service and further running in @ max 6000 rpm till km 2000. Some people don't read the owners manual because they are not the "owner"😏
watch hm abusing honda elevate and call it a review, 99% of honda owners wouldnt do that for their car, there is some sensibility needed as an owner which he definitely lacks!
At every signal you raved it like anything, from review perspective i was expecting something practical. Gear to speed ratio seemed out of track. Looks like all your focus was to break down engine or push it to limit where you hit an issue and prove your point
If any bike can't take this much minimal torture for just few hour then how can you expect it to be reliable over the years of ride in different conditions and situations.
@@AmanRaj-gu7ce i am not against stress testing but there has to be certain way to stress test the bike, simply reving with misaligned gear/rpm ratio and without understanding nature of engine simply tend to break any engine sooner or later. RE made it simpler though.
Good review Faisal, most of the reviews on RUclips are based on test ride models, maybe this is a one off case of a breakdown, (Overheating/Fuel/Sensor), my request please compare KTM Adventure 390 with The new Himalayan, preferably off road .. thanks
@@FasBeam But the 390 Adventure is not a proper adventure bike, is it? Shorter suspension travel, lower ground clearance, smaller front wheel and absent low-end torque. Fortunately, the 390 engine is not as unreliable as it used to be. Still, we do not have any other options in adv bikes with this level of performance until the new 390 Adventure comes along. But the new 399 cc engine is no more reliable than this Himalayan.
@twowheeledparadox As if all the Himalayans on the road are doing adventure bike duties. Probably less than 1% have actually done anything even remotely adventurous. Yes the Himalayan is a better adventure bike for the those out of that 1% who actually pushed the Himalayan to it's limits.

Also dear viewers pls don't be biased with any brand . imagine yourself in the middle of nowhere with this kind of issues. It would be a worst nightmare. Many of us love RE. But its true that these engines are not that refined. Anyone can clearly feel the unnecessary vibrations, heating problems in these bikes. And its a universal truth is that if an engine produces unnecessary heat then its because of unnecessary friction. So heat, friction, vibration all are interconnected. Which leads to an inefficient engine. May be RE makes stunning bikes but its engine are not upto mark.I have a 53 year old RE Bullet without any issues but mordern RE have northing like that. I don't understand how a 100 + year old company can't be improvising itself accordingly???
"The chasis cracked and engine fell off with the old himalayan, I'm not saying that'll happen with this" well this aged badly. 😂 it HAS happened with this himalayan too. Chasis cracked and engine literally falling off.😂 RE reliability coming in.😂
That video is scripted. A 168 kg KTM with 43 bhp can't match a 196 kg 40 bhp Himalayan that too in top end is nothing more than joke. If it were low end. Totally agree. Himalayan has a better low end torque comparatively.
Ride with love and an ambassador will last forever. But thats not the point. True quality comes when little abused or pushed to limits. And so thanks for exposing it.

Nice to see that someone on RUclips is actually honest. Tired of all these reviewers praising the bike to no end.
PR working their magic 😅
I guess it's because you were not counted on for reviews. Probably now you are more biased because of it😅@@FasBeam
Imagine the amount of people not doing extensive research and getting misled by those "reviewers" and then end up buying a vehicle but not getting what they acutally required in reality.
@@JustAnAtheistWhy anyone in their right senses would depend on RUclips reviews for buying a vehicle is beyond me. Before there were RUclips reviews, people would take a test ride or ask those who had already bought the bike. That's how you get a truly honest and unbiased opinion.
This guy is a moron and is the last person I would listen to for buying advice. Absolutely destroyed that brand new motor. Royal Enfield should use this video as evidence to deny him any kind of warranty claim.
After Ten days of release, people are talking about the Reliability 😂😂😂
I don't generally watch yoir videos, but I still would 10/10 watch it because criticism is good for buyers. Its upto us a buyer to decide whether to buy or not but to be aware of problems is a critical information. Dumb are those buyers who would buy products based on all praises without hearing about its dark side.
Well said, no product is perfect!
True. Even it feels like a toy if used a RE before 😂
he abuses new vehicles and calls it a review, check his tone for honda shine trash talk. should ride tractor or bullock cart
Nice to see an honest review as compared to some bootlicking BS reviewers to an extent that some have given a "best bike award" to this without even the public riding it.

First of all wait till the cluster to fully do its swipe thing and let fuel pump fully starts then only try to switch it on and you always shift gears with a false netural and rev it like hell ... Even while u start the Duke you did the same you didn't even let the engine to stay for a sec after turning it on and rev its nuts off ... See I always watch your videos and all I like your videos but while coming to motorcycle reviews you always do these kind of things..
Exactly
These things need to be done especially in reviews. Reviewers need to push bikes to absolute limits and also abuse it a bit so that audience can get a complete picture of Bike's Limitations. In real world these things happens a lot.
I tried everything and bikes from Yamaha and Honda never have such issues!
Lol. Digitisation and Fuel injection went for a toss with this comment.

As always one more dazzling review by Faisal. Adding this to my wishlist!
Dada when is the gen 3 duke video coming?? Eagerly waiting for that video.. love from kolkata..
Soon!
Tried everything, waited for the bike to cool off and it still didn’t start, RE said it’s a common problem so chill 😅
maybe its a loose side stand kill switch.
@@ronaldsanpedro4338nope. the electric circuit is complete, but some mechanical hurdle is there.
The first 500km you are supposed to run the bike in very gently,
Owners manuals usually say something along the lines of - For the first 500 to 1,000 km's, avoid using more than ¾ throttle. and during that period avert high engine speeds.
I am certain the Royal Enfield owners manual gives similar advice and they give that advice for very good reasons, looks like you have found out one of those reasons,
Very true. I will take atleast 2 years to tweak the engine based on customer feedback and the competition would catch up by then. So would rather wait
RE bikes Aren't The Most Reliable And Most Refined but Good Job RE on Making This 450CC Bike.

Faisal you're expert enough to know why some brands puts RPM limiter from factory so that the engine doesn't get damaged before 1st servicing.
Spot on mate!
Bingo! Absolutely spot-on! This guy's commentary was even more manic than his redlining of the engine!
No need to feel sorry. This bike is being tested by RE for ages now. It was supposed to be launched in 2020. Nothing wrong in exploring different use cases. The reviewer rides all bikes in same fashion. By your logic all bikes he rides need to break down.

You are too harsh on that machine! It's not a iron hammer, but plastic buttons. Handle them with the care/force that they are made for.
Thank you buddy 😊
This needs a Correction: the bike comes with CEAT tubeless tires but stock spoke tubed rims. What is waiting for homologation in India are the spoke tubeless rims (currently on the export market bikes), which will be available as an accessory first and then standard on top trims in India. The tires are all the same tubeless tires, whether you have tubeless rims or not! 😂
There is already a bike in India which has tubeless tyres and spoked rims. Price around 2.5L. Not kidding. Can you guess?
@@Smart.PotatoIndian government has banned the import of tubeless spoke rims . RE is working on manufacturing it locally , maybe the bike you're talking about sources its rims from some local manufacturer which for some reason RE couldn't source from .

It would be enlightening to see the last minutes before the engine stalled. Perhaps extreme revving for a long period...
Not all reviews need to be good from Faisal and I completely agree with myself on this review once again. This is not the way to review a bike. The purpose of this bike is different and that purpose was not at all explored! Just ripping the bike like a huligan is not what a real bike lover would do. It's equivalent to rape and their's no love towards the machine! Grow up bro, speed is thrilling but not always!
9:47 Changing Gears without the clutch and abusing the bike and then calling it unreliable. Yeah alright 😂

Ktm is love. Never disappointed or let me down
At every signal you raved it like anything, from review perspective i was expecting something practical.
Gear to speed ratio seemed out of track. Looks like all your focus was to break down engine or push it to limit where you hit an issue and prove your point
It’s not a review but an experience!
Always he does that either its a Car or a bike.
On offroads you keep engine on low gears and rpm on near redline for most of the time. Engine should be designed to take that much stress
Sare reviewa ek taraf aur faisal ka review ek taraf❤
Good review Faisal, most of the reviews on RUclips are based on test ride models, maybe this is a one off case of a breakdown, (Overheating/Fuel/Sensor), my request please compare KTM Adventure 390 with The new Himalayan, preferably off road .. thanks
Adventure 390 is any day better and a new one is coming next year!

That bike hasn't even crossed it's break-in time & bro you redlined it so bad that it missed it's stroke counts..
