Couple things. You didn't need to unbolt the lift arm...just pull the cord to free the trolley from the drive. Also the vast majority of the noise from your door is the opener. I changed from screw to belt and with a squirt of oil on each roller shaft it is near silent now. Get yourself a belt drive vs that chain and you won't hear anything.
Although, there are always multiple ways to do a job, unbolting one hinge at a time to replace the roller is the way I would go without putting any force on the tracks or bending the tracks... Good to know about the nylon wheels. Thanks!
My thoughts exactly. Viewers of this video are trying to get away from their loud, squeaky garage doors and instead are met with a loud, squeaky presenter.
Rather then bend the rails, I would have simply unbolted the entire hinge assembly. It would definitely take more time, but you wouldn't disturb the rail system.
Yes. I watched another video and that guy was a professional installer. He said that removing the hinge might cause more as it contains that cable you're talking about. The other did it similarly like this video. A little bit of bending and prying makes it work.
So proud of myself... did exactly how it's described in the vid .... and dang it the garage was still loud as ever. So I WD-40'd all the hinges and the spring. Alls quiet :)
I do this daily nylon rollers are standard now yes definitely help but you're never going to get rid of the metal on metal folding and movement noise out of the garage door you just can't you can keep it quieter with nylon rollers and if everything is lubed good and you have proper spacing in your rollers no binding but they're going to be a little loud.... especially some of the chain driven operators they can be very loud but still 100% functional belt drive is the way to go to decrease any operator noise. And definitely the smoother you can keep the track transition the better bedding to match at the flag bracket making sure your track bolts are not hitting rollers simple stuff!!!!! Common Sense stuff..
Lol. First you need to disengage the motor chain. To do that toss this stupid red string over the track so it doesn't get in the way of you disengaging the chain... Classic RUclips expert.
It's still loud. ...If the user turns the volume back up to normal levels. Question is - Why aren't audio levels not at the normal volume for the after clip?
Josh! Hopefully this helps 1) manually pull up your garage door until it's in the -fully open position- 2) clip back the lever in its lock position ( locking motion varies on motor model) 3) click the garage open/close button and watch the grip plate snap move towards the garage arm and SNAP into place 4) if there's no SNAP, click the open/ close button one more time and wait till you hear the snap Troubleshooting: ( if your garage door is still not responding to the click-command for opening and closing) A: 1) manually close your garage door all the way 2) repeat steps 2-4 listed above B: 1) manually keep pulling up your garage door until its more than half way open and then you can successfully let go. 2) while the door remains 3/4 open repeat steps 2-4 until you hear a SNAP. I hope this helps everyone in need and best of luck to you josh, including anyone else who follows.
THE DESCRIPTION READS THE BEARINGS ARE NOT SEALED. THESE ROLLERS WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 6 MONTHS. WHY DID YOU RECOMMEND THE CHEAPEST ROLLERS?
How do you quiet the motor? I live in a condo unit next to a neighbor who is in and out their garage all day long starting at 6AM and that motor humming noise comes thru my bedroom wall?
hey brother i have a couple questions.. so the first is do you know anyone who sells 10000k (bluish) temperature t10/194 or headlight strip for the accord light strip? second is do you know of anyone who sells the led turn signal for front and back that requires no load resistors in red? thank you!!
Thats reckless and crazy bending your roller guides. Just raise the door to the top, so the bottom wheel with the tension wire sits just below the vertical joint, clamp the horizontal by the next roller to act as an anchor, then just unbolt the vertical guide, wheel can be removed, and replace guide, simple. Then do the same for the other side.
NO!! DO NOT BEND THE RAILS! That can bring bigger issues in the future. Remove the brackets, except the bottom one, and replace the rollers one at a time. It takes a little longer but it’s the right way to do it. Do not replace the bottom rollers until you have watched an actual expert on youtube doing it. It is dangerous to remove that bracket if you don’t know what ur doing.
It's not the garage door being loud it's you yelling at the camera 😂jkjk great video thanks so much! Now I can sneak out for my late night runs to Wawa without those blood sucking kids knowing it! You just cut my Wawa bill a whole whopping 75%! Now that's no jk!!
but if you lift the door up before you unbolt the bottom one it will be ok right? my door won't go up or down for shit ,the gears in the opener have striped out everything looks like it is rusted to shit rollers and springs do you think just replacing the rollers and lube will work ? my springs are really rusty but not broken the door is like 20 years old almost on a detached garage in new england exposed to all sorts of weather and temps, i have hardly used it though because it never worked since it was installed it would go back up all the time after closing or not go up ,creeks and banging sounds, i adjusted the travel limit but it would always work a few times then act up again so the springs have not got any where near 20 years worth of up and down cycles but look rusted AF should i just replace the rollers and lube it and see if it gets better before replacing the springs? i am going to order a gear kit and probably a new limit switch once i get the door going smoothly and figure out the model number gear kit i need
sorry i don't have 1000+ to spend on that, it can't be that hard not to mention there is only one overhead door company with in 5000 miles of me,t eh same ones who installed it and fucked it up where it would never stay down or go up and down without reversing 50 times and making you hit the remote button over and over to stop it and reverse it
Why wouldn’t you just pull the emergency release instead of unbolting lift arm and then bending And crimping the channel, causing wear on the new Nylon roller Each time it rolls over the Crimp you just me. Don’t quit your day job my friend. Somethings should just be left to the professionals.
WHY WOULD YOU INSTALL A ROLLER THAT'S ABOUT $1 EACH. HOW LONG DO YOU THINK THEY'LL LAST? YOU TELL ME THAT YOU WON'T BE REPLACING THESE ROLLERS AGAIN IN 6 MONTHS OR A YEAR IF YOUR LUCKY. DUMB MOVE TO ME. ESPECIALLY 2 ROLLERS FAIL AND IT'S 20 DEGREES OUTSIDE. AND YOUR OLD LADY IS YELLING "DONE YET?" CLOSE THE GOD DAM DOOR. WHY DIDN'T YOU BUY THE GOOD ROLLERS.
Considering I have a liftmaster 3245 that is 11 years old and still runs great, and the linear LS050 I had died after 3 years. I find that statement to be false
You shouting through the video is 100000tines more annoying then the door...
The door would feel quieter if he just talks even louder.
Turn volume down
Although, there are always multiple ways to do a job, unbolting one hinge at a time to replace the roller is the way I would go without putting any force on the tracks or bending the tracks... Good to know about the nylon wheels. Thanks!
a quiet garage door for a laud guy :D
hahaha
My thoughts exactly. Viewers of this video are trying to get away from their loud, squeaky garage doors and instead are met with a loud, squeaky presenter.
Where I can buy roller???????????
sam inophars Amazon???? Hardware store??? Have you not searched google ?
Protip: When your video starts will yelling...I don't watch it.
Lol, the volume leveling is better in my newer videos.
Rather then bend the rails, I would have simply unbolted the entire hinge assembly.
It would definitely take more time, but you wouldn't disturb the rail system.
Anthony Ellerbrock unbolt the bottom one on film
Anthony Ellerbrock ya don't bend the track you may never get it to bend back correctly and replacing the track is hugely expensive💰
Anthony Ellerbrock but be careful for the bottom cause theres a cable on the bottom and it has large amounts of torque
Yes. I watched another video and that guy was a professional installer. He said that removing the hinge might cause more as it contains that cable you're talking about. The other did it similarly like this video. A little bit of bending and prying makes it work.
I’m getting these👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽. And Bru you were screaming at the end like you were trying to talk over the loud garage door. 😂😂😂😂😂
So proud of myself... did exactly how it's described in the vid .... and dang it the garage was still loud as ever. So I WD-40'd all the hinges and the spring. Alls quiet :)
WD-40 is a degreaser, hope you added lubricant after
@@Howtofordummies. I did not... makes sense now, because after a few months it was just as loud
@@studio5ninephotography408 Permatex 80070-12PK Silicone Spray Lubricant
Don’t scream on top of your voice
volume control broke?
Very annoying
ad-rock he starts yelling right away.....
Nice sound editing in the clip when you showed the new rollers.
Apparently these rollers make the motor quieter too!
Common Sense stuff..
We just swapped out our old chain drive for a belt drive. Like your video, the motor is louder than the door in motion.
I was not ready for the energy during the intro. I just woke up man.
You do know that pulling that string handle disengages the door from the motor, hehe
Lol. First you need to disengage the motor chain. To do that toss this stupid red string over the track so it doesn't get in the way of you disengaging the chain...
Classic RUclips expert.
This and a wall mount door opener would be awesome.
Damn that was a massive difference in noise level!!!
You didn’t get enough props for this video bro but this was a great video really helped me out👍
Hope you didn't go crazy looking for your car keys dude! If so did you check the rear roof of your car ;-)
Woooooowww! Amazing!!! Changing mine today
It's still loud. ...If the user turns the volume back up to normal levels. Question is - Why aren't audio levels not at the normal volume for the after clip?
pull the cord down then toward the motor, it won't reengage
Josh! Hopefully this helps
1) manually pull up your garage door until it's in the -fully open position-
2) clip back the lever in its lock position ( locking motion varies on motor model)
3) click the garage open/close button and watch the grip plate snap move towards the garage arm and SNAP into place
4) if there's no SNAP, click the open/ close button one more time and wait till you hear the snap
Troubleshooting: ( if your garage door is still not responding to the click-command for opening and closing)
A:
1) manually close your garage door all the way
2) repeat steps 2-4 listed above
B:
1) manually keep pulling up your garage door until its more than half way open and then you can successfully let go.
YEAH BRO LESSSS GOOOOOOO HIGH ENERGYYYY GARAGE DOOOOR BABYYYYYY!!
You can take those hinges securing the rollers off by unfastening the bolts!
My garage door is seriously noisy! This may solve the problem!! Thanks!
mast work done......... nut the main think is is this door does not give protection from thief...
How many rollers did you have to buy total??
The one kit had it all.
I like how you just fucked up the tracks by bending it lol. That Inferno Tacoma though, I approve.
How do you quiet the motor? I live in a condo unit next to a neighbor who is in and out their garage all day long starting at 6AM and that motor humming noise comes thru my bedroom wall?
Buy the 89LM on EBay, hope this helps
Where I can buy roller???????? What WEEB??????
Why on earth would you shout like that?
Why not remove the hinges?
Take a valium dude!!! I'm out!
you could of used the manual release instead of taking toe door arm down
No, no, no - NEVER bend the rail(s)!
hey brother i have a couple questions..
so the first is do you know anyone who sells 10000k (bluish) temperature t10/194 or headlight strip for the accord light strip?
second is do you know of anyone who sells the led turn signal for front and back that requires no load resistors in red?

There is something u can buy to quiet the opener. Its very cheap
Liftmaster 1280 which is what?
it's called the 89lm on eBay
"That bad boy" 😂😂😂
I need this guy to do my garage door
No you don't.
Good job.
NO!! DO NOT BEND THE RAILS! That can bring bigger issues in the future. Remove the brackets, except the bottom one, and replace the rollers one at a time. Ricky Lopez I appreciate your concern however I have had these for 4 years and there isn’t any issue. It’s not a problem to do it this way.
It's not the garage door being loud it's you yelling at the camera 😂jkjk great video thanks so much! Now I can sneak out for my late night runs to Wawa without those blood sucking kids knowing it! You just cut my Wawa bill a whole whopping 75%! Now that's no jk!!
LOL I get better in terms of yelling in newer videos.
Your screaming makes my blood boil
Nice. will have to get those.
seriously how about unbolting the hinges wow
This guy is on speed!! We do NOT need or want all the yelling. How old are you, 5??
Are you George Lopez's nephew? Hola hermano!
"Easy Peezy"
thanks.
The actual way is to remove the brackets and replace the roller, not bend the track to pop it out.
That's awesome
Impressive
can't you just unbolt all the brackets instead of bending the track i really do not like the idea of bending the track
u can, but the bracket for the bottom roller has the cable attached, if u unbolt this, u will get severly hurt. its what lifts the garage door.
TRUE , THATS VERY DANGEROUS
but if you lift the door up before you unbolt the bottom one it will be ok right?
my door won't go up or down for shit ,the gears in the opener have striped out
everything looks like it is rusted to shit rollers and springs
do you think just replacing the rollers and lube will work ? my springs are really rusty but not broken
the door is like 20 years old almost on a detached garage in new england exposed to all sorts of weather and temps, i have hardly used it though because it never worked since it was installed it would go back up all the time after closing or not go up ,creeks and banging sounds, i adjusted the travel limit but it would always work a few times then act up again so the springs have not got any where near 20 years worth of up and down cycles but look rusted AF should i just replace the rollers and lube it and see if it gets better before replacing the springs?

Andrea Mitchell Please, please, please call a professional overhead door repair person. Messing with a garage door is very serious.
sorry i don't have 1000+ to spend on that, it can't be that hard
not to mention there is only one overhead door company with in 5000 miles of me,t eh same ones who installed it and fucked it up where it would never stay down or go up and down without reversing 50 times and making you hit the remote button over and over to stop it and reverse it
The garage use was so loud before, that it made him deaf.
How do you make you quitter?
Beautiful
Wow what a mouth on that dude, LMFAO
Nice!
K
Wouldn't have to bend anyting and could easily do it three times as fast wtf ??????
thats funny. price is 36.12 when you click to buy its $50 !! (plus all the bullshit)
That made a huge difference! Keep yelling! At least it was easy to understand you. 🙃
That's how mine sounds
Damn don’t have to yell 😂
Yeah... sry don't do that anymore haah.
He is so loud :) but video is usefull
Yeah sorry. I got better in my newer videos. :)
Why wouldn’t you just pull the emergency release instead of unbolting lift arm and then bending And crimping the channel, causing wear on the new Nylon roller Each time it rolls over the Crimp you just me. Don’t quit your day job my friend. Somethings should just be left to the professionals.
Grease.
Lost me at "just bend this right here"
Loud Mouth!!
I'll take a noisy garage over your yelling
My husband used these plans from Stodoys and he's very satisfied.
I think you're louder than the garage door... tone it down a tad. Im out
You yelling is louder than the damn door. Microphones are good at their job. Let them do it
Yeah... trust me i got better lol
Crap
don't listen to these a**holes, they are just jealous of your super stardom dude!
Lift master sucks!! Linear brand is 10x better
Considering I have a liftmaster 3245 that is 11 years old and still runs great, and the linear LS050 I had died after 3 years. I find that statement to be false
Josh 9 years here with liftmaster 😍
Even liftmaster has cheap lines and more expensive lines. Consider spending $100 upgrade on an upgraded model would be a game changer
