VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Daniel sought after a weekend traveling truck that he could throw his outdoor gear in and head out. A late night on eBay led him to an unexpected win with a bid for a 2005 Econoline. Now the new owner, he started his conversion to make this DIY project the perfect adventure bus.
He installed a murphy bed that folds up, exposing a comfortable dining area with bench seats providing ample storage. The kitchen is spacious and simple, with a large countertop, microwave, sink, and cabinetry. With 600 watts of solar and minimal pull on power, Daniel has enough energy to support long trips with friends to hit the slopes, mountains, and trails!

You sir are an awesome young man. I am a retired widow-I dreamed of traveling in a van when I was in high school. I never followed my dreams & now the mini vans are way above my pay rate. You are given so many days & nights on this great planet & your youth should be spent enjoying all it has to offer. You can't take those "nuts" with you when your last day is up. Sir, Please never let a number (age) stop u from living your dream. I've give up everything except rescuing hounds. I've sold or saling all I own at 52 in August to build a tiny house. I live in a 500 dollar ( I cheaply repainted,clean it well) camper to afford this life. I've wasted 51 years worrying about what folks would think. Not another moment. Make it work,live your dream,please! I'm so happy in this camper,I may just built cover over it and stay here. Propane,I don't trade I refill 7 to 10 dollars one ever 3 months. Everything works except air conditioner. Back up generator built in converter got used. I use for ac while I sleep. Pay my car insurance and cell phone. Your gonna love your new life,I have planned for you. Lol
@@lorihutton4719 Please vent propane correctly and use a carbon monoxide detector by the floor. The poisoning is very unpleasant (had it, imagine bad hangover combined with bad pot high).
A fantastic use of space. Murphy bed is the best. I agree that all electricity is the way to go: I do not trust gas

Very nice and excellent flow of layout. If only more young men had your common sense, adventurous nature and enthusiasm, they would find a purpose in life, instead of just existing and being bored. Enjoy life and have a plan to fullfill the later years too.

@@danielduffy3753 Ah, technically. But where I live (major city) it's not legal. Too tall (6 feet). You could get away with it of they think it's a work truck during the day, but at night...very dense area, too.
.have a hard time parking larger cars. Much less a bus. Lol

Young people not being satisfied with traditional work & living spaces might just improve all our lives
I don't know a young person outside of California that just had $18000 laying around who's also had the money for ski and rock climbing trips. Sports like that are expensive and yeah it's not a 50K sprinter but still $18000 is a heck of a lot of money outside of California.

I don’t know the cost of this build, but it sounds like the Pandemic changed his plans, allowing him to put in the work to make it a living space with reclaimed materials. He might have saved on rent and not having to commute as well? Who knows! I certainly couldn’t have afforded the transportation costs to get it to California, lol
You are so right that most young people are not rolling in $18k. Honestly, I think it’s a travesty that most can barely afford college and are piled high with a lifetime of debt to get a higher education
If our country had Free College for All (funded by a small Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street transactions to curb speculation) it would boost our economy. And more young people all over the country could save to afford homes, tiny, mobile, or not. Maybe it would boost innovation as well?

That murphy bed is the simplest and most sturdy design I have come across yet. WOW! Using the space for a dinette by day and a bed by night is SMART!! YES!!!
I may have found my new favorite short skoolie. The Murphy bed can really be a game changer. While I think I’d still prefer it to run lengthwise with the bus, everything is include in this build, or soon-to-be with the toilet and shower. It may not have enough clothes storage for full-time living, but I’m sure it’s close.

The Murphy Bed is the best kept secret in the "tiny home space". I have one all drawn up to go in my Airstream. Why more people don't see the benefit in this idea is beyond me.

i have TO SAY, YOUNG MAN, THE BUS IS REALLY ORGANIZED SPACE. I LOVE IT. THE BED WAS THE STAR OF THE WHOLE PROJECT. THE ONLY THING MISSING IS THE BATHROOM AND TOILET.

Lots to like including the owner's clean-cut looks and upbeat presentation skills. This is one of only a few "tiny homes" which I would consider "enviable." Stunning interior.
Now this guy's got his stuff together that Murphy bed and the recirculating shower any the power system he's got he's got a good bus right there.✌💪🎅🚌👍

You can do it. I did it on a large motorcycle. So, it CAN be done. They're automatic and loaded with cameras now, too! Don't even need a CDL if you're not driving commercially.
You're really thinking this through, a lot of functionality in your plans and I'm liking your plans for your shower! You definitely have it together !

I love the schoolies and the added room they have. Would like to know what you do for as living; just curious as my generation( 67yrs) didn't have as many opportunities to try living and working mobile. Your organized, clean lines, light colored wood is very simple yet also very uplifting. Enjoy your freedom and safe travels young man.
Much of my office job is able to be done remotely. So that has been a good option!

I've been thinking about looking for a small school is to renovate to my own place on wheels and they have a lot more room to roam around in than the converter vans. I like the way you have you bed made into a Murphy bed to put out of the way when you need to eat and do other things on. I hope you get your compost toilet and shower put in.
You are the most knowledgeable and fluent in your build that I have seen and I watch a lot of van/bus/tiny house builds. Did you have to watch a bunch of how-to videos or did you already have the know-how. When you said you were all in at about $18,000 how much of that was just for the bus itself? I know I’m rambling but you really have it together and I’m totally impressed!! 😉👍🏽
Hey!yes.so I got the bus on ebay for about 4k and then the rest is in materials. But i saved lots getting it reclaimed.

Very very nice...all the comforts of home....love the roomy kitchen, excellent storage, microwave..👍👍👍, great fridge, counter space, bench seats..👍👍, awesome sink, table, closet space..👍👍, real plants, nice!!! SPACIOUS!!! the only thing I would personally do is add a pop of color....other than that....brilliant design!!! I wish you & your partner all the happiness in the world....happy trails, safe travels ....I love the story of how you acquired the bus... that's DETERMINATION!!!! and it paid off!!! loved the smart design, the space is utilized so efficiently it doesn't feel you're in a motorhome or some small space. eagerly waiting for the bathroom that's still in progress! great work man 👍

You can have the the floor spray foamed from underneath. Ours is foamed very quiet going down the road

Your design/concept is as close to what I wanted to do for my new lifestyle. I would have made your breakfast nook transferable into a twin bed, add roll out awning and step out/rack off the back door. But the rest is spot on.
I love the Murphy bed, I really like the bus. Can't wait till I can afford mine. But I will be living full-time because being on social security funds are low. But one day..

Wow fantastic bus! ... Great intelligent simple build... 4 years ago an accident left me paralyzed and we just brought a 30 ft CNG department of transportation retired bus with the wheelchair lift in the back... Wish we could get anywhere close to the level that you have done with yours but haven't made many connections here in San Diego yet since the accident occurred within a month of moving here... Would be super interested in any advice or help, especially as we're about to register it and finding all kinds of conflicting information about that route... But regardless thank you for sharing what you've done with us... We're very inspired 😁
