VIDEO DESCRIPTION:
Dan and Teresa had a lifestyle of hard work, a lot of land, and a love of camping. After a massive heart attack, Dan's career in plumbing came to a halt, and the reality of what they wanted in life came to light. Now living full-time in a cargo trailer that's pulled behind a van (they call it "The Mule"), these two outdoor adventure seekers are living on the road.
The living space of the cargo trailer is 7ft tall, 16ft long, and 8 ft wide. Within the walls, they have a twin bed, a recliner chair, a quaint kitchen hosting a toaster oven, microwave, and a rotisserie! The best part of this trailer is the back wall completely folds down, creating a vast deck and what seems like an extra room! This partial DIY build was designed with plenty of natural lighting. Dan says, "It's good for the soul to see outside."

Fairly easy to extend if they ever chose to, just stick another trailer to it and cut a hole and you’ve doubled the space.

With the small space and kinda primative finish but useable and the gas mileage I'm glad I have my 26 ft class C motorhome. More space and luxury..and it gets around very easily..and can get into any campground..but to each their own..
I could listen to this man all day, what a beautiful soul he is. Definitely an inspiration and so smart he's thought of everything, such a great set-up and it's so lovely how he considers his wife every step of the way. Thanks for sharing

Gosh, what a lovely gentleman! I could sit and listen to him talk forever. I wish we could have "met" his wife and dogs, but I can only imagine they're as wonderful as he is. He's truly thought of everything they need, and created a simple and fantastic life for themselves. Wonderful video!

Love this one. He reminds me so much of my own grandfather; he was a hard worker, loved to camp and camped with my grandmother all of their married lives. He was just as content with the simple things in life.
So simple, tidy and practical! I, too, love water! He does have a charming voice for presenting all his ideas. Glad he survived that heart attack and got to LIVE a good life!

Exactly, No high hydro bill , no water bill, no mortgage or rental , and he's enjoying the great out doors!!!
Seriously, I was looking at our annual property taxes and homeowner's insurance and realized that we're effective paying about $200/month for those even with our house fully paid off. I told the other half we can find campgrounds that'll let us stay a month at that rate in our own rig and save on the other bills.
This guy is an inspiration. I’ve been check-out these types of video, considering VanLife for retirement, seems like an adventure. My husband is retired and he just sits in front of the TV, I don’t want that type of life style for retirement.
Right, get outside, get some electric bikes and enjoy nature.

I've watched countless videos on RV Living over the last few years and I can truly say THIS one is by far my FAVORITE one of all!!!! There was certainly nothing fancy about this set up, but it was perfect for he and his wife, and that's what is important. This gentleman is SUCH a pleasure to listen to with his sooothing voice, beautiful attitude towards living a simple, but fulfilling life. I'm a Christian too, and beleive that God will lead us down the right path if we just keep in communication with Him and watch for His direction.... If more people had his beautiful attitude what a wonderful world this would be! Thank You for this outstanding, inspiring video. I plan to keep a copy of the URL, and watch it again when I need some inspiration!!!!

I never thought of using a van for a support vehicle to tow the trailer. Great idea with the water tank inside the van you don't have to tow the trailer to fill up the tanks and the tanks don't take up room in the trailer. You could use that same concept in a pickup truck Mount Your fresh water and greywater tanks in the pickup truck along with the propane. Use quick disconnect fitting for everything
I've never seen a van used like this before either and I think it's genius!
This brought a tear to my eye. It's my grandma's house, but it moves. She would have loved it as much as I do. You can always work on fixing things up a bit. She always said that. Thank-you for sharing your cozy home.
I'm not a religious person, but love this man's perspective on nature.
Appreciate the simplicity of the build. I would encourage the composting toilet, once you get used to using and maintaining it it's pretty easy. And no plumbing to do! I do a lot of plumbing and there's nothing worse than changing wax rings. And I dare say that a composting toilet is more hygienic than a flush toilet.

For retired couple they have the best setup. It's exactly what I'm looking to do I have a converted school bus never even been out in it because of my health so that's why I'm looking to sell it and get a vehicle and a pull behind cargo trailer put my stuff in it and hit the road and to this gentleman Amen brother. ✌🎅🚌🌻👍

I just spotted this rig a couple weeks ago in a beautiful river side campsite. I have been researching build outs so it stood out immediately and randomly I found this video. What a wonderful person, I wish I had approached him and introduce myself. Kind of person you rarely run across that just make all the complexity in life we create less intimidating for a change. Love this setup, I've been pondering something similar, building a kitchen and small lounge into a van and building an actual sleeping area and living room into a trailer.
Little House on the Prairie is timeless! I've already determined that my standard for living on the road is to be the kind of neighbor that Charles Ingalls was.

I really like this rig, some of your ideals were different, and it started me to think. I kept thinking about how you have a water line going to your 150 gallon water tank in the van. I never heard of this before, I thought it was a fantastic ideal. Like you, I feel water is very important and I would like to have a big tank as well. When I'm looking at these videos and come across people with big water tanks, I be like yes !!
Your rig looks spacious inside and plenty of storage, which is a plus. I like your wife's bed and the desk this is some of the style of furniture I have in my home.

It's a small space,. and I'd find it a challenge to live in that with another person. However, this allows this couple to enjoy retirement and not have to worry about cutting he grass or paying the sewage bill or other utilities. Good for them.
As a 47 year old man my wife and I are talking about this lifestyle. God almighty has given us days we have to take advantage of it

I would not thought of taking the microwave and the toaster oven and stacking them which was a genius idea and then just the way you have everything set up and the fact that your back wall can go down and out for you to have a porch is absolutely stellar. We are 65 and 67 yrs old doing this same concept on a 52 ft trawler…it’s our water RV and we feel so blessed to be able to live aboard.our God is an awesome God! We love Jesus too!!
I'm not sure if the couple would read this comment or not; but, I'll post it anyway. I can see how you could reconfigure to have a little closed in commode, if you wanted to. If the little chest freezer could be moved to the position where your make-shift potty is now; you could potentially add a small stall with possible a shower curtain horseshoe ring at the top of the ceiling; you could put your compost toilet in there and still have it be fairly open. Or, you could get 2 sets those bifold doors and attach them to some studs and create a more secure and more smell friendly-private environment. I hope you are doing well. thank you. I agree, a view is good for the soul. I like it because there's no pretension; just basic living essentials.
What a great story they have to tell. Great life as well. I loved the little washer! Being able to rest in Jesus is a special thing and it sounds as if he and his wife are content doing this life style. Their trailer looks great. You would never know that it was really a utility trailer and not an RV.
