- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Portbou to Barcelona in 4K/60 frames per second.
Portbou station is a border railway station between France and Spain where all trains have to stop, as those coming from/going into France have to change gauge from 1,668 mm (5 ft 5+21⁄32 in) Iberian gauge to 1,435 mm (4 ft 8+1⁄2 in) standard gauge.
The line is a part of the Barcelona-Cerbère railway which is a 168-kilometre railway line linking Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain to Cerbère in France.
It was built between 1858 and 1878 and electrified between 1981 and 1982 .

Muchas veces he viajado por esta línea, ya sea camino de Francia o destinos intermedios. Pero jamás vi con tanta comodidad lo que puede ver el maquinista desde su cabina. Bonito recorrido por tierras catanas y estupendo vídeo. Gracias.

@christianmeynard4952 the data shown are GPS data extracted from the camera and that sometimes is not accurate. But it can give us a pretty good idea of the speed and altitude.
Saturday morning. Nothing to do. Watched a Jaw Tooth train video from Ohio, USA. Got to listen to some American-English. Then the Saturday posting from Cabview Holland Dutch Railways. Great subtitles. However, I don't speak any Dutch for when I hear chatter. But... this video was SUPER, 'cause in 2014 I had to start learning Spanish when I moved from California to México. And, in Mexico they don't use the 'Vosotros' form of the verb. You didn't either. I never learned those verb forms. The arrows pointing things out were pretty much straight-forward... not a lotta guessing. I'm gonna recommend this channel to other lazy Saturday morning retired or pensioned ex-pats who are too English speaking snobbish and don't want to learn any other language. Gracias por tu video. I travelled this route in July 1969 - such a lot has changed since then. My first solo journey abroad by train from UK.I didn't have a word of Spanish then. Mind you, I was worried about the Police in those days. It was a very relaxed (and slow) ride to Barcelona although it was electrified. Coach doors open (inward) all the way with some people taking the air on the steps.Thanks for bringing back memories.👍

Already seen this track in other cabrides! Wonderful the coast from Cerbere and Portbou where the Pirineos Mountains reach the shore. Figueres, Girona and Upper Catalonia are beautiful places! There is another coastal railway, one track which connects Girona to Barcelona, crossing Matarò on the coastal line. i suggest u even the railway from Barcelona via Manresa AND Calaf which connects on Lleida in the Middle Catalonia. As always nice resolution and nice landscape! Thank u! Also the Portuguese railways are very spetacular.

Pour information, il existe à Cerbère, côté français, une plateforme dédiée aux changements d'écartements entre l'Espagne, 1.668m et la France,1.435m .Tous les essieux des convois sont changés en soulevant les wagons. Soit pour l'Espagne soit pour l'Europe en écartement "standard"... Existe également le système Talgo qui, lui, modifie l'écartement sans que le train s'arrête...Un truc de fous !! 😅 Et techniquement génial !! 👍💪

Remember getting a train from here in the early 70's to Figueras after travelling overnight from Calais. Bit of a dump. Don't know if it has improved.

My line as I live in Flaçà since 2017 (previously I was in Girona for 9 years) and I can see trains passing through from my balcony.
Used to travel Girona-Flaçà daily during 4 years and after that often but not daily.
I also use it several times to go from Flaçà to Llançà/Colera/Portbou mostly in the summer going to the beach.
Great views between Vilajuïga and Portbou !!

Thanks very much for a fabulous rail journey. Hi, from Australia! My very first Spanish train trip. Loved the scenery and fabulous trains. Only about the third time I have seen some single bar overhead. First time in Spain a little on our new Metro opening next year, hopefully in Sydney, Australia and one other perhaps in Holland briefly. We are all asking how much single bar overhead could be done so as not to wear out the pantographs in one spot? Is there much English language for signage etc in Spain? Thanks again, I look forward to more from this channel.

@@RailRelaxation I forgot to add how weird I thought it was that there were hardly any crossovers, none, actually, in almost the first half of the journey. One wonders how they would cope in the case of a breakdown on that line with no way of diverting other traffic?

Concerning my comment yesterday, I have to make a.correction concerning.the tracks in the Barcelona-Sants.
1 to 6 are for Higjh Speed Line (AVE/TGV), 7 to 14 is for the others trains (ancho iberico).

Conozco la linea por haberla utlizado.durante.muchos años para ir a Francia. Lo unico que ha cambiado son los edificios y las construcciones para la via del Ave/Tgv, como el viaducto que pasa por encima de la estación de Massanet Massanas. Realmente impactante cuando se esta abajo.y pasa un Ave o Tgv. Los numeros de via que se citan corresponden 1 al 6 al ancho iberico, desde el 7 unas pertenecen a las vias Ave pero creo que no todas.

A more interesting route would have been the RG1 that after Girona goes back to the coast and rides along it until Barcelona.

Where ist the microphone placed and why does it have so much wind noise?
@leofaulhaber5641 The microphone is outside, thats why there is so much wind noise. When I can get the microphone in the cabin, it is better. But because of the privacy of the driver this is not possible every time.
@@RailRelaxation Thanks for quick answer. I like it when the mic is placed outside. Maybe you find a way to suppress wind noise even better. Anyway, videos are great, especially regarding resolution.
