    Welcome to Marks Mini Cooper S Mk3 built in 1970 and registered in 1971. This Cooper S was last restored in 1997 and featured in Mini World magazine. Unfortunately 23 years down the line and it's looking tired in some areas so Mark has decided to take it off the road for a full restoration which will involve stripping it back to a bare shell, sandblasting, and a respray. Fortunately, the engine has already been restored recently by Swiftune engineering

    It's good that people document the reality of these jobs rather than editting to make it look easy. Thanks to this vid when it comes to putting my rear subframe back in ill measure the distance between the trunnion bolt holes and compress the trunnion bushes to suit. Thanks for the heads up 👍

      Glad it's been helpful Phil. Nothing is ever easy on a mini 😅

    From what I watched you do here Mark, from my memory of doing this, you got it as good as it gets. The four Coopers I rebuilt had the advantage of only having new paint inside & underneath so I didn't have to worry too much about the odd scratch on the exterior body work as I always used to leave that till last .. But it's looking great Mark..

    Well done Mark. I doubt the design of the Mini could be automated and to all intents and purposes they were (& still are) hand built. While the rear subframe on Kieth’s Racing Green can be fully assembled, the Hydrolastic pipes were an afterthought!

    Did you remember to fit the small hydro bump stop that bolts to the rear subframe behind the radious arm ?

    • @markdraper7
      @markdraper7 9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, i did fit those. It was detailed in the footage that was corrupt, which is annoying.🙂

    Well done, horrible job, I had to take a 24hr break when fitting mine - it was that or setting fire to the car. It’s odd that just leaving 24hr made it fit better. 👍

    where did you get those wing protectors from they ar great

      @markdraper7 9 месяцев назад +1

      I got them from Nippy Cars at Beaulieu, but they are on their website. They have a felt type lining on the inside so they don't damage the paint.🙂

    I'm interested to know what the foil tape does? I've just pulled my subframe out and it doesn't have any tape. Absolutely beautiful job you're making of this car.

      Thank you. 🙂 It just seals up another area that is hidden and assume collects grime.
