Welcome to Marks Mini Cooper S Mk3 built in 1970 and registered in 1971. This Cooper S was last restored in 1997 and featured in Mini World magazine. Unfortunately 23 years down the line and it's looking tired in some areas so Mark has decided to take it off the road for a full restoration which will involve stripping it back to a bare shell, sandblasting, and a respray. Fortunately, the engine has already been restored recently by Swiftune engineering
Hi mark everything seems so fiddly when you're putting things back together but perseverance prevails great job let's get the engine in great video Keith
Thanks Dad. x
great progress keep going Mark
Thank you Mark! 😎
The dampers must be vertical to work. Try clamping the bottom mounting in a vice, a then extending and closing the damper several times.
The car is looking great by the way!
Thanks Peter. Ah, ok, i'll give that a go. 🙂
Great job! The missing thing from the bracelet is the pipe from the clutch master cylinder to flexi pipe. What was the issue with fitting the wiper motor and how did you resolve it? Cheers 👍
Thank you. 🙂 I did work it out in the end after looking back at photos 😅 The problem with the wiper motor was the plastic plugs kept disengaging as i screwed the screw in. 🙄 I got over it by using 12x1" screws.
Don't you just hate those clutch & brake pedalbox clevis pins 😅.. Those shock absorbers for the front don't seem quite right Mark. There should be slightly more resistance as you push them back together from my experience of working on hydro Mini's. Great job on the heater box.. That's quite an achievement to get that looking like new using the original box.
😂 Yes, especially with shovel hands! Peter commented that they need to be vertical so i'll check them out in a vice like he suggests. Thanks, really pleased i could re-use the original heater! Thanks Pete 😎
Where did you get those awesome fender covers? I'm currently using a quilted cover with a hole in the center for the bonnet.
Nippy Cars sell them online. I got them from them at Beaulieu a couple of years ago. The temptation to rest things on the wings is too great! 🤣
Where can i buy this wing protectors ? 😍
Hello Simon, Nippy cars Online. I bought them from their stand at Beaulieu a couple of years ago. I can't see them on their website but maybe call them and speak to Fred and see if they do them to order.
Just wanted to add that it was Stuart Pennington, not Steve who repaired the heater for me. Sorry Stuart, had a brain malfunction at the time! 😅
OId age LOL
lol 😂 , Thank you Mark & it was great to see you yesterday at the show. “appreciate you hanging on for me to arrive there”
Amazing kindness on your behalf with the gift for me , I really appreciate it & will get it fitted in my little 69 Cooper
Hopefully for the June show at Beaulieu, I can pop down and see yours all done running 👍
As I’ve said you & Kieth do a superb job by making the videos for the channel and they are my goto reference instead of a Haynes manual..much better to see it done in a video 👌
Thank you so much Stuart
@@atommodelcarsluxuryrideinc1441 , You're welcome Stuart. 🙂
On both of my Minis the handbrake cable guide plates and rubber are mounted on top (inside the car).
Thank you Graham. 🙂
On my 67 MK1 cooper the engine steady rod goes on
Thanks Robert. I worked out later that is was the clutch hose and the engine steady. 🙄🙂
Boom 1st lol
Damn it silver for me 😉
I normally get towards the bottom of the list in my daily job for doing my job correctly
Back in the game Paul! 😆
