Temple of Doom is a "prequel" of Raiders. Mola Ram character it´s played by Amrish Puri, who was a very well known indian actor who passed away in 2005. For me, the perfect description of this movie is... "Darth Indiana". A great great original trilogy, being "The last crusade" my favourite. The OST, by John Williams of course, reminds me ALWAYS to Star Wars, specially themes like "battle of the heroes" or "duel of the fates", in the darkest scenes.

This movie was a lot darker because Spielberg wanted to take things up a notch, and Lucas was going through a divorce when he wrote the script (heart being ripped out of a chest comes from that).

😄👍 Freeze the frame at 20:11. 😁 Not only did no woman on the planet have hair like that in the 1930s, but for the next four decades as well. It wasn't until the mid 1970s that an actress named Farrah Fawcett popularized that hairstyle. 🥸 Something you can look forward to: Within the first 10 minutes of the next movie (Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade), you'll get a thorough explanation of his fear of snakes. 🐍

I was 6 when this came out. As a kid, I liked this one over the first movie. As an adult, the first movie is better. If you were a kid in the 80s, you love this movie. It was exciting, a little scary, and funny. I remember one of my friends had the Temple of Doom lunchbox.

This movie was temporarily banned in India because of the depiction of their culture, especially the food and the depiction of Kali as an evil goddess. There was also actors in brown face, like the big dude Indy fights who gets squished by that wheel.

Holla 📽️🍿 , Put on your fedora Vanessa & crack that whip
    " If Adventure had a Name......." 💥
The intro blow me away when I first saw it , a lot more exhilarating & action packed than before. I knew you were going like that Busby Berkeley Glamorous 💃 number (it's included in the trivia). Indy's looking cool in a tux , you can always tell who the bad guys are , throwing that burning folk was savage. I liked how choreographed the mayhem was , using the giant gong as a shield was going to be in the first movie ( they couldn't afford it) after stealing one of the head pieces for the staff of Ra from a warlord in Shanghai. Willy's such a diva , her screaming annoying. Short Round one of the best Sidekick ever , it's adorable how he looks up & copies Indy. He got the role because he tagged along with his brother , the way he deliverers one liners is funny , wise beyond his years , makes the movie all the more watchable. Jumping out of a 🛩️ using a raft as a parachute was unbelievable , you wouldn't remain stable while free falling ( myth busters proved it) but suspending your disbelief makes it more enjoyable , poor 🐔.
It's interesting choosing India for a change ( Sri Lanka) & shooting in mostly one location. The actor who played the village shaman didn't speak english so read his lines phonetically prompted by Spielberg. The 🐘 were cute , she deserved that 💦 the giant 🦇 Bats might look scary but flying Fox's ain't , they mostly eat fruit & are cute looking. You do need to watch out for other species (128) that can transmit diseases. Kate Capshaw does have a fear of 🐍 so they didn't do some scenes. The ♦️ card game around the campfire was improvised. The Palace 🕌 was impressive , filmed on sound stages at elstree studios , skilful lighting was used to hide the fact. They were going to have a 🐯 Hunt but went with the dinner scene instead , it was so gross , I thought Hindus were Vegetarian , the beetle 🐞 were made of rubber & the monkey brains raspberry custard. I kinda get what they were going for with the romance , reminded me of those classic screwball comedy's where they always fighting but really love each other , the series moonlighting also comes to mind. It was a little funny at times but I wasn't as convinced like with Marion. During the fight scene , Harrison Ford severely hurt his back during a somersault & they had to bring in a bed between scenes , he had to go to the hospital & take time off for 5 weeks while stunt double Vic Armstrong & his wife stood in. That room with the spikes was a close call , they used 1000 of 🐛 & Kate got the worst of it & had to take sedatives to get through it , they often stowaway getting into the clothes & shoes of the cast & crew & even the tap stage to. I like how Indy always gets his Hat just in the nick of time.
I'm pleased you've enjoyed it so far because it had mixed reviews when it first came out that it was to dark & goofy , a weird mix. Famous critic Roger Ebert gave it a perfect 4 stars & said it's one of the greatest bruised forearms movies , that's when your girlfriend gets to excited holding on. It's been received better by now.
Here's some more trivia before I leap into part 2 .
Kate Capshaw took tap dance lessons for " anything goes" however the dress ( by Barbara Matera ) was to tight to dance in. It was made of beads from the era & was one of a kind. While in Sri Lanka it was left to dry on a tree & a elephant tried to eat it , but they repaired it in time & was included with other dresses in a traveling exhibition around 10 years ago.
The darker theme reflected how Lucas & Spielberg felt after there relationships broke up.
They wanted to bring back Marion & originally were going to open with a chase along the Great Wall of China followed by the discovery of a lost valley of dinosaurs , but the Chinese refused. Another idea was setting it in a haunted castle in Scotland but went with a evil temple instead.
Indy's sidekick was going to be young princess but Spielberg didn't like it.
Willy was named after his a cocker spaniel & Short round after Huyck ( screenwriter ) doggie.
I'll continue my comments on the flip side soon
    🎞️ 👨💕👍

From the magical movie year of 1984 and one of the best sequels ever.
The darkest of the Indy films and the PG13 rating itself was being birthed
Some still can't get over that this is the first prequel story by Lucasfilm.
I saw it on video when i was 5, read the Marvel comic limited-series and played the NES game.
This won several awards including an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
Ke Huy Quan in his first-ever film role.
He became a fan favorite sidekick of the era.
Precursor to another 80's classic he's casted in, The Goonies (1985).
Actress Kate Capshaw (Willie Scott), who is now retired from the industry ended up marrying Spielberg and they're still together today with 4 kids.

Indiana Jones has Ophidiophobia is the fear of snakes. Indiana Jones was one known victim of ophidiophobia. Although he had disliked snakes since at least 1909, it was a traumatic encounter on a circus train in 1912 that triggered Jones's ophidiophobia.

Ah yes. The worst movie in the franchise, and yes, I have seen them all. I still like this movie, but of all of them this is the one I would avoid. Indy is a-hole for the majority of the movie and the "love interest" might be the most annoying dumbass damsel in distress in movie history. The only thing that keeps this movie from being completely intolerable is Short Round.

@@FosterTravis1071 Here's my personal ranking to give you an idea:
      1) Last Crusade
      2) Raiders of the Lost Arc (the first two rank really close together.)
      3) Crystal Skull
      4) Dial of Destiny
      5) Temple of Doom
Three through five are really far below the first two. Like if they were in a race and how fast they were going was based on quality of movie. Last Crusade and Raiders would finish in first and second within fractions of a second with each other. Everything else would finish several minutes behind. Hell, 4 and 5 got lapped by the first two.
