Lex is hands down one of the Best Modelers I ever seen. I watched every video b4 starting my Layout and it came out Incredible.
You have to make more Videos Lex.
Lex , this is so clear ,and it gives me confidence to try it ! Now that's what some of us need , the re-assurance that it is possible , even for a man with two left thumbs on each hand. regards , Patrick Smith . Keep up the good work, and a happy railroading New Year for 2012
This is beyond a doubt the BEST "HOW TO BUILD A Curved trestle bridge" That I found. Lex's videos are well worth WATCHING. Great techniques for building the curves of the trestle as well as great detail craftsmanship. Lex is a true MMR (Master Model Railroader). This is no amateur video. It is the real thing!
Lex, I have just started scratch building structures and I have learned a great deal from your clinics. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the time that you and others take to share your knowledge and experience with your craft. Model building is an art the same as painting or sculpting etc. and you sir are a master at yours. Thank you again for what you have taught me.

Cheers
I watched the whole series and must say that I am amazed at your vision, attention to detail and your expert craftsmanship.
I am new to the hobby and though I have created a nice first layout, what you have done here inspires me to pull out all the stops next time around. I am in the process of building a metal building 21'x20' for my next project which will include some of your inspiring detail... Thanks for the series.
Wooooow you're setup looks SOOO COOL!!!!
WOW! The shoe dye idea did the trick. Thank you, thank you.
Excellent engineering and craftsmanship.
Thank you for contributing your skilled knowledge to a hobby I want to learn more about.
Lex is hands down the Best. I used all his Methods on my Layouts and now have a 6 ft N scale Diorama that is being Displayed at a Huge Train Shop in PA. I had a Dozen calls asking me to do some Work, But with 3 young sons, I have no Time. Someday when I retire. lol..... Thanks Lex, Incredible as Usual....
You are most welcome. It is very rewarding to me to hear how someone follows my clinics. All the best,,, and I wish I was retired.
I only use Mt Albert Scale Lumber for my models.
Awesome
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and techniques. It is much appreciated.
India ink is another great color for the timbers. I expect you already know this anyway. Great video and I will watch the rest as of tomorrow morning.
Thank you very much, we all start somewhere. I am pleased if a person achieves only one thing from the videos, remember to take little steps and don't be overwhelmed by the whole.
Thanks for sharing your techniques!
The video is great and thanks for sharing!
Is there any chance of you showing a larger detail of the bent lumber measurements?
Thanks again, Dale
I used your trestle idea and it worked quite well with my practice trestles made out of balsa wood and I used track nails to keep it together.
do you have the drawings in HO size?
Sorry, no.
oh ok it's alright I will have to improvise then like I did with my pylon.
awesome , i dont usually like the american style layouts with the american trains but this one i love :D
This gives me a little bit more peace of mind trying to learn how to do all this stuff because the train club I’m in we’re in the process of constructing a mega layout
Thank you and good luck.
I have a lot of scale lumber for trestles for sale at a great price if you want, but its all O scale sizes.
Good stuff!
Lex. Do u have any of Videos making trees. Your Work is hands down the Best I ever seen. Incredible detail. Wow !!!!
+Grizzly Boxing BIG BEAR
No, haven't done any. There are several on RUclips. My pines are basically bottle brush style.
Sorry again for the delay, only found this now. I have not yet done any but there are some good techniques on RUclips.
Excellent Videos. I watched the whole series. Afterwards I tore up the bent jig I was working on and decided I would use your channel to attempt my first trestle. I have only a couple of questions before I start. I model in HO, so would the wood scale sizes differ for me? How do I get a bent template like yours that would work for HO? Are some of the measurements your calling out like "3ft between the rails" a universal bridge measurement depending on your scale? So the same 3ft, but using my HO scale ruler? Lastly, I found the wood supplies and never knew that they had scaled versions. So a 4x4 is just that, but depending on your scale? Ordering myself a cutter as well. THANKS!!!!!!
I see now that this is 1/48th scale or O scale. I'm looking for HO scale. Cheers from eastern TN
With the costs of the materials taken into account, is there any saving versus just buying a kit or premade structure?
Awesome.
You're most welcome.
@68cyberzen I believe that part of the hobby is to help others, thank you.
what is the best what put the on the trestle.
its been a long time since I did any work on my ho layout.
Que buen trabajo
nice video sir!!! I am also in an idea to make model villa out of wood in my summer holidays for architecture project.... I would like to contact u! and what is the name of tht thing which u used in this video to cut those wood sticks... Thanks... waiting for your reply!!!
That is a "Chopper" from north west short line.
I have a question in general can I use real water for a model railway
Yes, outdoor garden railway in larger scales, never indoors with smaller scales and it doesn't look right. Water is dangerous to any model railway indoors with shorts, rust and so on.
Can you please advise me where I can purchase the wood.
My wood was from Mt. Albert Scale Lumber whicc is now owned by Fast Tracks.
Will any guillotine work with Balsa wood or does it have to be a special one?
Any will work, Balsoa is softter than sugar pine.
Been having problems cutting Balsa with my Chopper I, but cutting my bassword is fine I guess it's better to hand cut balsa with a knife.
What is the spacing of your bents?
Bents are 15' apart.
Hi Lex very nice job on the video , do you happen to have the template for the bents in a pdf format to print?
Lynn
No, but I have an image I can send so you can use as reference.
Lex Parker Thanks Lex
Lynn

Lynn

best what?
Where did you get your Chopper? Thanks.
Its from North West Shortline
Ken S I just
Where did you get the scale wood?
Mt Albert Scale Lumber.
@@lexparkerdesign Thank you.
There is a savings buying the materials, you're not paying for profit and boxing and with a built-up kit you'll be paying for labour. Besides, you'll miss the satisfaction of building it yourself.
Like Very Much Great Thank
