I’ve gotten a lot of questions, especially lately, on “repeat 2-5”. This does NOT mean 2-5 times. It’s 1/8192 so it’ll be a lot more times than that. It means repeat steps 2-5 that were listed right there until it shines IMPORTANT STARTER HUNT UPDATE: The starter is generated about 160 frames after the zigzagoon (2.3 seconds after). So, if you find a shiny zigzagoon, try picking your starter about 2 seconds slower than you just did when you found the shiny zigzagoon
Tbh I hard reset (yes I learned about soft resetting later so rip gameboy battery :() for hours on end after saving in front of deoxys and right as I was about to give up... I got a hasty shiny encounter.... but I caught all the rest of the legendary pokemon mew included regular cuz it was so much effort :c

I just started on my emerald cartridge, did 500 soft resets before finding out about he soft restet problem 🥲 Glad I found out now lol. Gonna get that shiny rayquaza!
Everyone with Ruby or Sapphire read here!!! These do NOT work in R/S. In Ruby and sapphire make note, if a message doesn’t pop up going from title screen to main menu you -save before the battle/receiving the Pokémon -battle/receive the Pokémon -if it’s not shiny soft reset (a+b+start+select) -repeat this endlessly until it is shiny If a message DOES pop up, take it to a tech store (such as Best Buy) and have them replace your battery. After the battery is replaced follow the previous steps. If replacing the battery deletes your save, congrats! You have a fake game and cannot hunt for any of these on that fake copy.

@@RUclipsTechnicianOfficialYes I think they are referring to the event item being legitimate (scanned through a e-reader or record mixed) as you could just rip the games save file from the cart with use of a ds or ds lite and trigger the flag for the event instead
But I've been SR'ing for Shiny Rayquaza, Groudon and Registeel in these games and got them. So I was just super lucky to actually find an early frame after +3months of SRing each.
How many times did you try this method before it worked? I know it can take several hundred or thousand tries, just trying to spark some hope for myself..
Haha nice vid, it has to be done :). But a little improvement for sudowoodo, taking a pokemon with memento instead of selfdestruct is quite better. You can have a lvl 100 gardevoir with hypnosis and memento for example (or Latios, misdreavus etc...) So you can't use the ball you really want if you don't want to use masterball (or simply don't have the masterball) :p

So with a regular (non-dry) ruby/sapphire cartridge we can just soft reset as normal for the starters and such? I've wanted a shiny hoenn starter for years and ever could figure out the rng (so good video;) ) You probably get this question alot but I havent found it in the comments really.
Huh, never knew you could run away from legends other than mew and lati@s. So, is it faster to hunt for Ray on RS or E? I would say Emerald, but the SRs in gen 3 are sooo quick.

I don't know for sure on the regis, but I think they're faster to RA if you have 1 or 2 games, if it's more than that do it on R/S and just SR. But the RA time doesn't vary per game R/S vs E

Nope, it absolutely does not need an early shiny frame for any of these. These are to counter the frozen frame problem in Emerald that makes it so you need an early shiny frame. And no worries, I've seen way longer comments, good luck on your hunt!

Green Shadow2001 dry battery doesn't effect emerald because it always has errors (specifics detailed in the video linked in description) however it does effect R/S. When they have a dead battery they act as emerald always does
I’m trying to get the Hoenn starters in my Emerald and haven’t had any luck. Does the internal battery being dry having anything to do with it? Or can I still use your method where I check different frames for a shiny even though the battery is dead?
The internal battery has nothing to do with it. that message only means that if Ruby and sapphire have it, then they have the broken RNG like Emerald. Keep hunting, and you'll get something eventually. It's just your luck so far.

Hey, just wanted to ask a brief question regarding the run aways . (In this case its for the regis) So after I hunt for about an hour with a live battery emerald, should I save after the hour of run always or should I just turn the system off like I would do normally in 4th gen? Im unsure because of the whole shiny frames issue.
No problem! These are specifically for emerald because it has some issues and these methods avoid that. Typically you can just random encounter or soft reset in games
If I obtain a shiny starter in my Emerald, then does that mean I can just consistently SR for shiny legendaries without having to check for different frames? Or is it still best to run away then renter the fight?
I know this is 2 years late, but you got a horrible reply and I just coudn't stand it. If you got a shiny starter, then you will be able to get an RNG clone of the legendary. Say your starter has a calm nature and an IV spread of 12/24/31/0/14/6 then the legendary will have the same nature and the same IVs, if you encounter them on the same frame. It's up to you, really.
Hey man, i wanted to ask you something because i need to know it as soon as possible. What's the HP Stat that Totodile needs to have for it to be Shiny while soft reseting in Gold and Silver? I'm planning to SR Totodile and some people have told me that only Totodile with base HP in 20 are the ones that can be shiny. Is that true? Or there are other base HP that can tell you when it's gonna be shiny. Thanks!
On what planet are RNG Clones illegitimate? The games RNG does not function properly. RNG is never illegitimate under any circumstance. All you do when using RNG to your knowledge is speed up and take the random factor away, which admittedly might not be fun for shiny hunters, but that does not make them illegal by any means.

I just said somewhat illegitimate because you're taking advantage of a glitch, it's practically the same as saying the level 100 nidoking in gen 1 before the first gym is legit. Yes it's the game's natural coding but it wasn't something the creators planned for you to take advantage of. So this is why I said "somewhat" or maybe I said semi? Idk but regardless I also said you can, its up to. I was just saying most shiny hunters frown upon it. And that's who my videos and channel are primarily for, shiny hunters.

I mistyped. Any RNG abuse is not cheating because you're not modifying the game. Every generation exception 6 has RNG that can be controlled and manipulated. It's misinformation to suggest RNG abuse is cheating or cloneing, even though it is not in the shiny hunter spirit.

I have a few questions in regards to hunting Deoxys. I'm currently at 200 Run Aways, as I'm hunting it on Emerald. 1 - Since it's better to have the game on longer, should I turn on the game, and have it wait for 10 minutes before starting, or does that not matter? 2 - Unless I'm stupid, you don't need to save Soft Resets in other games, like HGSS. For example, if I do 400 SR for Moltres in HGSS, I'm assuming that I don't need to save the game to register those SRs. However, for something like Emerald, should I save how many RAs I do? Will that matter for hunting Deoxys? 3 - You mentioned during the Sudowoodo portion that we should aim for an hour for each hunting session. Would this also apply to Deoxys? 4 - (sorry for the multiple question spam, I'm very hyped to hunt Deoxys) I am currently pausing my hunt at 200 RAs at the moment. Mainly so I can eat dinner. My game is still on, as I type this. Would it be ideal to keep the game on, while eating dinner, and resume hunting after? Or does THAT not matter? I'm sorry if any of these questions are redundant, or if you've answered them before. I look forward to hearing back from you, good sir! =]
VGE 1) It's not better to wait, that's a false rumor, in that waiting period you probably pass about 4 shiny frames if you wait 10 minutes. No need to wait 2) It never matters to save resets or runaways, but for RAs I personally like to, so it keeps my games hours. But it really makes zero difference. 3) Yes. All emerald hunts I recommend going for 1 hour minimum hunting sessions. They can be infinitely longer, and they can even be shorter, but that's just my recommendation. 4) I'd say leave it on if you'll get back to it soon. But if you're like done with a hunting session for a few hours, you can definitely turn it off. Good luck, but this hunt is much better done in Fire Red and Leaf Green by Soft Resets though

I caught a shiny rayquaza first time without trying. I was speechless and it was like my life restarted coz all these years I’ve been playing Pokemon emerald and rayquaza is one of my favourite pokemon.
BoomerangBowTie anything is better in R/S than emerald because it’s more randomized. Unless it has a dead battery, then it’s just as poorly randomized as emerald.
So question and I hope you see this. I'm just wanting to hunt the starters specifically Torchic. Is it pretty easy to do just from using your instructions? I've always wanted a shiny Blaziken and think playing through emerald would be a great way to do it.

giganticness48 it doesn't effect them in emerald because Emerald is already messed up. The only time shiny hunters are concerned with a dead battery game is in Ruby and Sapphire because it makes those ones act like emerald (check my previous video about Emerald's RNG for that info if you need). Does that make sense?

Do you happen to know anything about the RNG in the battle frontier in emerald? I've tried to get to gold symbol in the factory many times but i always seem to get the worst luck possible. It feels like the AI knows when it's going to land a critical, is there anything shady going on there or am i just unlucky like that?
Quantum Creator they make you take it immediately after battle, and if your team is full it gets sent to the PC. You can’t RA or use the other methods in this video because it is a gift. You cannot use the battle record as you do with other gifts because you can’t come back to get it after you beat the game and have battle record since they force it on you. The only thing that might work is if you have all your boxes and party completely filled when you do the battle at the weather station. Then they might hold onto it, idk. But at that point, it’s too much work for a castform. It’s so much easier to just do that one in R/S. In those games they don’t put it in the box, so if your party is full and you finish the battle you can then deposit a Pokémon in the box and just soft reset it. Easy. Just make sure your Ruby or Sapphire have a good battery.
Quantum Creator otherwise they act like emerald, and have a messed up RNG. Which is why you have to do all this dumb stuff in the first place as opposed to simply soft resetting.

Hi! New to shiny hunting emerald! For the starter hunt, when the sign is coming down and im clicking at each time you mentioned. Should i just do that 1 time for each? And then soft reset to start a new game?
Nope, like the video says you should aim for a few resets at each pace. Frames are 1/60 of a second, so doing 5 resets every save could lead you to skipping a file with an early shiny frame. More so its a big waste of time to create a new save that frequently

for shiny hunted all of these legendaries i recommend getting a pokémon with the ability “run away” it’s extremely helpful and it doesn’t matter what level the pokémon is at.
What about the Roaming Latias/Latios? Considering that it's set as soon as you see it on the telly and pick its colour. Would that work in similar way to the starters (apart from deleting the save data of course) or not?
doggo good thing you found this and found out you can't SR shinies before it was longer than 2 months. Some people have told me they've been trying to get one for a year.
How do people not look at you funny on the bus with a fukkin gba? or do you use an emulator? because from my expierience, anywhere I bring my gba people either look at me funny and try to avoid me, or ask me questions about it. And I'd imagine it's worse for you because I'm 13, so it's not weird for me to be carrying around a game system.
Ive heard that you need to hunt for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, etc, to not encounter the same frames twice (even though it is unlikely). I am going for deoxys. Is there a bit of info that could help me narrow down how long I would have to hunt for to make it worth my while? Or can I just do the battle video before each session (even if the session is 2 encounters) to get different frames or could I still get duplicates?
Whoever told you that was probably paraphrasing me. If it’s random encounters, you’re going to want to not just hunt for a couple minutes so that you can have a wider range of frames. But for battle record method for deoxys resets (I think that’s what you’re doing? Please clarify if I’m wrong) you would want your hunting session to be at least a completed set of 50 per battle video. I hope that helped clarify, let me know if you have any follow-ups :)

What about the Pokémons nature? Are all shinies the same nature with this method? (I think, I've seen a vid where it said that they are all gonna be the same nature if you soft-reset) Great vid btw :)
Noname1q they're the same nature if you RNG abuse to get the same shiny frame. Or maybe the person that made that video just had an early shiny frame and didn't understand how it works. But if you do everything in the video as I've said they should have different natures, unless they get the same one by complete coincidence
It won't suck to do SRs, it'll be impossible. But it's good that you encountered this problem now rather than a few months or years ago, because there hasn't really been a guide as detailed as this one before, and this information was mostly lesser known.
PokeLexgnzlz no you cannot, frozen frames messes up your chance to do that. If it is in a Ruby or Sapphire with a live battery you can soft reset it though!
Big question as I'm about to start shiny hunting in Emerald. For example let's say I'm hunting Rayquaza. I get up to it, save, and begin the shiny hunt. I hunt for about 5-10 minutes, doing the run away method, and shut the game off. When I resume the shiny hunt let's say, an hour later, I just do what I was doing before, correct? Given RA's ensure true RNG each time, I shouldn't have to worry about duplicate frames as I would with soft resetting, correct?
I'm still trying to find the answer myself. I did this for hours yesterday and saved and turned the game off. Im hoping today when I pick it back up that I'm not just retreading the same ones as yesterday
Can you save and shot off your student then resume a shiny hunt another time? Example I use the run away method on groundon and after 200 in counters I decide to take a break save and shut down my gameboy. Will I be at the same frame rate or odds of getting that shiny if I come back to the hunt?

If you hunt for enough time (3-4 hours is enough to give ample results) without soft-resetting and haven't found too many shinies by random encounters in the save file you are hunting on (for hunting sessions of 4 hours, that's around 10 shinies), you can perform random encounters without any issues. Else, you have to use battle videos to reduce/nullify the influence of the RNG mechanics in Emerald (because you found too many shinies/have seen too many frames in a sample of frames of a certain size and have a non-neglectable risk of seeing redundancy).

Nicolo Gabriel Morales if you have an early shiny frame and know this you are trying to land on the shiny frame by SRs. This is called “RNG abuse”. It can result in a shiny but is an illegitimate shiny.

It's 4 frames off. So if you have an exact shiny frame at frame 5328, then you would have to press A on the "yes" option in the dialog box at exactly frame number 5324. SOURCE: I've RNG manipuled before, and just did it for a shiny Mudkip on a new save.

I have found something you missed in your video. Kecleon can be hunted without SRing and instead with RA's if you have Latios with Memento as your only Pokemon in your party. It's a bit of a walk, however it is technically doable. I have just recently started this hunt, so if you know something I don't about this possibly not working, please let me know.
@@shinycollector When using the bike and having a dead battery on my Emerald, I believe it takes similar times. I prefer it compared to the risk of possibly missing a shiny frame when doing a battle video method. Plus it's somewhat unique.

So for the Hoenn Starters, what do I do once I find a Shiny Zigzagoon? Do I keep trying to get the timing as close as possible for a Shiny starter? Or do I try every position the area sign drops in? Also, does the internal battery message on Emerald hurt my chances to land on a Starter instead of another Zigzagoon?

Im sorta confused on the starters. Do u do like 10 resets of the first then 10 of the mext etc. Or the whole 5 sign tricks 10 times in order? Another thing. I cant remember if this only started in later games but im pretty sure if u press new game then u cant save bc the old game is still there. Do u mean like delete the save file?
Storm 10 resets with each of the 5 signs (50 total) And that started gen 4, so you can just press new game and play through, save at the bag, and then do your next 50 resets
Well, I've gotten my Shiny Torchic, and the Shiny Frame is about the middle of when the location sign is dropping down. Should I be able to find the stationery Pokémon with relative ease if I save in front of them? And is it still possible to get Shiny random encounters with such an early frame?
Alex Henley always able to RE. Yes you can SR but it's technically illegitimate because RNG clones. However, if you go after other ones through the battle record method you'll be ok.

Emerald is always busted with its RNG so the battery being dead doesn’t alter that. Yes you can get a shiny starter before zigzagoon, but if you get zigzagoon you can definitely get the starter

I've been trying to get a shiney treecko for a while now, Id like some advice on this cuz I'm kinda new lol. How many Sr should I do before making a new file? And do I need to hit the frames in that order or can I do it as many times on any of those frames?
1st the sign doesn’t drop :second one just when it drops: third one halfway down: fourth the sign is just finished coming down:fifth it stays down for a bit
so if we wanted to get a lot of shiny's from this gen, would the best method be to shiny hunt for a starter and figure out roughly where your early frame is where you get it, and then you can SR like usual at say the Groudon spawn, seen as that one & Kyogre is a tedious travel running in and out of the room? If from spawning in the cave the encounter started at the same moment the shiny starter encounter happened at the beginning of the game, would it be a guaranteed shiny legend on SR?

Okay, just began shiny hunting Beldum on my Emerald (battery replaced, but I am still aware of broken RNG :P). To clarify, the speed to get used to for Beldum, I should keep frames from battle video, not from game start? What I mean, even if I am slow before playing the battle video, but once I play it and receive Beldum since then, with identical frames - the rng blesses me with SAME Beldums? I got a question, if RA encounters are possible. Is it possible for random encounters? Because I am hunting Skarmory in emerald. I’m using Illuminate, MagnetPull, and the Acro Bike. Is it possible for a shiny to appear from doing what I used?
You didn't elaborate on Castform so I'm a little lost. What makes it impossible to hunt? I read that you can avoid Castform in Emerald by having a full party and storage system. You need the post-game to do the method, and since Kyogre/Groudon events trigger does this lock you out of the Scientist giving you Castform in the post-game?

yeap it's true. If you already has got an shiny pokemon on your actual save file there's a way to discover your SID and after do some stuff you will be able to "maping" all the shiny frames on your save file. And than than you can use some frame calculator and try to hit the exact shiny frame with the specific nature you wanted.

Forgive me if I’m being stupid. But does running away from Regice and encountering it over and over still doable in Emerald? Or has Sunkern made my past week or so invalid? I’ve done it for Ho-Oh without knowing the RNG was messed up and it worked.

I hear that replacing the internal battery on a copy of ruby, sapphire or emerald doesn't actually fix the clock immediately. Would replacing the internal battery in a copy or ruby or sapphire fix the soft-resetting problem emerald has right away?
That is correct about the clock, it will not fix until you restart your save. However, for R/S, the RNG *will* immediately fix. Yet, emerald is always broken regardless of the battery. You will not be able to reset for shinies in it without one of these methods ever
Question for you. I understand the whole shiny hunting in a normal emerald cart thing, my question is, do you know how this works with the gb operator? Meaning, can you still do the runaway hunting of emerald with a dead battery on the gb operator?

You don’t need an early shiny frame, but all emerald saves have an overwhelming amount of shiny frames, you just need to get lucky and land on one while hunting. But you can do these methods on any emerald file
Hey, just did this in emerald for the starters. It took me 110 times and I'd start a new game after 50 SR's. Didn't even get a shiny zigzagoon just the shiny torchic!! thanks so much. Also, when trying this on the legendaries do you need the smoke ball or just run away?
I know this video is old and you might not see this but I followed this method but kept going passed the sign leaving the screen and ended up encountering a shiny Zigzagoon around 14 seconds after the route 101 sign left the screen. My question is, do I need to keep trying at around the same time frame of 14 seconds after the sign leaves the screen or just start the encounter immediately until my Mudkip shines?
I have a question, in Pokémon ruby can you soft reset for a shiny or random encounter a shiny with a dry battery? And if I replace the battery will my games data be deleted? I’ve gotten a copy of Pokémon ruby recently but it’s battery is dry and I want to shiny hunt in it.
Cannot soft reset for shinies with a dry battery, can random encounter, changing the battery doesn’t alter your save at all for gen 3 games. If you change the battery and the save gets deleted then it was a fake game
Probably a dumb question, I followed the advice here and I know I can get a smoke ball. But if I you know do the run tactic a few times and I soft reset after a wipe because my RNG is bad on running away. Will I be getting the same Rayquaza even if I run away a few times or will I still have a shot at the shiny?
Don’t soft reset between runaways if you’re still hunting. You’ll only make it more likely for RNG clones. Just keep doing the runaways and you’ll be set

I’ve gotten a lot of questions, especially lately, on “repeat 2-5”. This does NOT mean 2-5 times. It’s 1/8192 so it’ll be a lot more times than that. It means repeat steps 2-5 that were listed right there until it shines
IMPORTANT STARTER HUNT UPDATE:
The starter is generated about 160 frames after the zigzagoon (2.3 seconds after). So, if you find a shiny zigzagoon, try picking your starter about 2 seconds slower than you just did when you found the shiny zigzagoon

i think it's the only way to do it legitimately, since gen 6 deoxys is shiny-locked. don't give up hope! i know you can do it!

Tbh I hard reset (yes I learned about soft resetting later so rip gameboy battery :() for hours on end after saving in front of deoxys and right as I was about to give up... I got a hasty shiny encounter.... but I caught all the rest of the legendary pokemon mew included regular cuz it was so much effort :c

These do NOT work in R/S. In Ruby and sapphire make note, if a message doesn’t pop up going from title screen to main menu you
-save before the battle/receiving the Pokémon
-battle/receive the Pokémon
-if it’s not shiny soft reset (a+b+start+select)
-repeat this endlessly until it is shiny
If a message DOES pop up, take it to a tech store (such as Best Buy) and have them replace your battery. After the battery is replaced follow the previous steps.
If replacing the battery deletes your save, congrats! You have a fake game and cannot hunt for any of these on that fake copy.
FINALLY IK HOW TO SOFT RESET
Is the message you're talking about that "doesn’t pop up going from title screen to main menu" the dry internal battery one when you start up R/S?
To be sure, can these methods be done after the internal battery runs dry?

Haha nice vid, it has to be done :). But a little improvement for sudowoodo, taking a pokemon with memento instead of selfdestruct is quite better. You can have a lvl 100 gardevoir with hypnosis and memento for example (or Latios, misdreavus etc...) So you can't use the ball you really want if you don't want to use masterball (or simply don't have the masterball) :p

So with a regular (non-dry) ruby/sapphire cartridge we can just soft reset as normal for the starters and such? I've wanted a shiny hoenn starter for years and ever could figure out the rng (so good video;) )

I don't know for sure on the regis, but I think they're faster to RA if you have 1 or 2 games, if it's more than that do it on R/S and just SR. But the RA time doesn't vary per game R/S vs E

Nope, it absolutely does not need an early shiny frame for any of these. These are to counter the frozen frame problem in Emerald that makes it so you need an early shiny frame. And no worries, I've seen way longer comments, good luck on your hunt!

Green Shadow2001 dry battery doesn't effect emerald because it always has errors (specifics detailed in the video linked in description) however it does effect R/S. When they have a dead battery they act as emerald always does

The internal battery has nothing to do with it. that message only means that if Ruby and sapphire have it, then they have the broken RNG like Emerald. Keep hunting, and you'll get something eventually. It's just your luck so far.

Hey, just wanted to ask a brief question regarding the run aways . (In this case its for the regis) So after I hunt for about an hour with a live battery emerald, should I save after the hour of run always or should I just turn the system off like I would do normally in 4th gen? Im unsure because of the whole shiny frames issue.

Yes
I know this is 2 years late, but you got a horrible reply and I just coudn't stand it.
If you got a shiny starter, then you will be able to get an RNG clone of the legendary. Say your starter has a calm nature and an IV spread of 12/24/31/0/14/6 then the legendary will have the same nature and the same IVs, if you encounter them on the same frame.
It's up to you, really.

Hey man, i wanted to ask you something because i need to know it as soon as possible. What's the HP Stat that Totodile needs to have for it to be Shiny while soft reseting in Gold and Silver? I'm planning to SR Totodile and some people have told me that only Totodile with base HP in 20 are the ones that can be shiny. Is that true? Or there are other base HP that can tell you when it's gonna be shiny. Thanks!
Just an HP stat of 20. Also female starters cannot be shiny.

On what planet are RNG Clones illegitimate? The games RNG does not function properly. RNG is never illegitimate under any circumstance.
All you do when using RNG to your knowledge is speed up and take the random factor away, which admittedly might not be fun for shiny hunters, but that does not make them illegal by any means.

I just said somewhat illegitimate because you're taking advantage of a glitch, it's practically the same as saying the level 100 nidoking in gen 1 before the first gym is legit. Yes it's the game's natural coding but it wasn't something the creators planned for you to take advantage of. So this is why I said "somewhat" or maybe I said semi? Idk but regardless I also said you can, its up to. I was just saying most shiny hunters frown upon it. And that's who my videos and channel are primarily for, shiny hunters.

I have a few questions in regards to hunting Deoxys. I'm currently at 200 Run Aways, as I'm hunting it on Emerald.

- Since it's better to have the game on longer, should I turn on the
game, and have it wait for 10 minutes before starting, or does that not

2 - Unless I'm stupid, you don't need to save Soft Resets in
other games, like HGSS. For example, if I do 400 SR for Moltres in HGSS,

However, for something like Emerald, should I save how many RAs I do?

It's not better to wait, that's a false rumor, in that waiting period you probably pass about 4 shiny frames if you wait 10 minutes. No need to wait

It never matters to save resets or runaways, but for RAs I personally like to, so it keeps my games hours. But it really makes zero difference.

Yes. All emerald hunts I recommend going for 1 hour minimum hunting sessions. They can be infinitely longer, and they can even be shorter, but that's just my recommendation.
4)
I'd say leave it on if you'll get back to it soon. But if you're like done with a hunting session for a few hours, you can definitely turn it off.

The only time shiny hunters are concerned with a dead battery game is in Ruby and Sapphire because it makes those ones act like emerald (check my previous video about Emerald's RNG for that info if you need). Do you happen to know anything about the RNG in the battle frontier in emerald? I've tried to get to gold symbol in the factory many times but i always seem to get the worst luck possible. It feels like the AI knows when it's going to land a critical, is there anything shady going on there or am i just unlucky like that?

Why can't you Hunt the Casform?
Quantum Creator they make you take it immediately after battle, and if your team is full it gets sent to the PC. You can’t RA or use the other methods in this video because it is a gift. You cannot use the battle record as you do with other gifts because you can’t come back to get it after you beat the game and have battle record since they force it on you.
The only thing that might work is if you have all your boxes and party completely filled when you do the battle at the weather station. Then they might hold onto it, idk. But at that point, it’s too much work for a castform.
It’s so much easier to just do that one in R/S. In those games they don’t put it in the box, so if your party is full and you finish the battle you can then deposit a Pokémon in the box and just soft reset it. Easy. Just make sure your Ruby or Sapphire have a good battery.
Why the good battery?
Quantum Creator otherwise they act like emerald, and have a messed up RNG. Which is why you have to do all this dumb stuff in the first place as opposed to simply soft resetting.

Hi! New to shiny hunting emerald! For the starter hunt, when the sign is coming down and im clicking at each time you mentioned. Should i just do that 1 time for each? And then soft reset to start a new game?
Nope, like the video says you should aim for a few resets at each pace. Frames are 1/60 of a second, so doing 5 resets every save could lead you to skipping a file with an early shiny frame. More so its a big waste of time to create a new save that frequently

for shiny hunted all of these legendaries i recommend getting a pokémon with the ability “run away” it’s extremely helpful and it doesn’t matter what level the pokémon is at.

doggo good thing you found this and found out you can't SR shinies before it was longer than 2 months. Some people have told me they've been trying to get one for a year.
How do people not look at you funny on the bus with a fukkin gba? or do you use an emulator? because from my expierience, anywhere I bring my gba people either look at me funny and try to avoid me, or ask me questions about it. And I'd imagine it's worse for you because I'm 13, so it's not weird for me to be carrying around a game system.

Ive heard that you need to hunt for 15 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour, etc, to not encounter the same frames twice (even though it is unlikely). I am going for deoxys. Is there a bit of info that could help me narrow down how long I would have to hunt for to make it worth my while? Or can I just do the battle video before each session (even if the session is 2 encounters) to get different frames or could I still get duplicates?
Whoever told you that was probably paraphrasing me. If it’s random encounters, you’re going to want to not just hunt for a couple minutes so that you can have a wider range of frames.
But for battle record method for deoxys resets (I think that’s what you’re doing? Please clarify if I’m wrong) you would want your hunting session to be at least a completed set of 50 per battle video.

Noname1q they're the same nature if you RNG abuse to get the same shiny frame. Or maybe the person that made that video just had an early shiny frame and didn't understand how it works. But if you do everything in the video as I've said they should have different natures, unless they get the same one by complete coincidence

It won't suck to do SRs, it'll be impossible. But it's good that you encountered this problem now rather than a few months or years ago, because there hasn't really been a guide as detailed as this one before, and this information was mostly lesser known.

Big question as I'm about to start shiny hunting in Emerald.
For example let's say I'm hunting Rayquaza. I get up to it, save, and begin the shiny hunt. I hunt for about 5-10 minutes, doing the run away method, and shut the game off. When I resume the shiny hunt let's say, an hour later, I just do what I was doing before, correct? Given RA's ensure true RNG each time, I shouldn't have to worry about duplicate frames as I would with soft resetting, correct?
I'm still trying to find the answer myself. I did this for hours yesterday and saved and turned the game off. Im hoping today when I pick it back up that I'm not just retreading the same ones as yesterday

Can you save and shot off your student then resume a shiny hunt another time? Example I use the run away method on groundon and after 200 in counters I decide to take a break save and shut down my gameboy. Will I be at the same frame rate or odds of getting that shiny if I come back to the hunt?

If you hunt for enough time (3-4 hours is enough to give ample results) without soft-resetting and haven't found too many shinies by random encounters in the save file you are hunting on (for hunting sessions of 4 hours, that's around 10 shinies), you can perform random encounters without any issues.
Else, you have to use battle videos to reduce/nullify the influence of the RNG mechanics in Emerald (because you found too many shinies/have seen too many frames in a sample of frames of a certain size and have a non-neglectable risk of seeing redundancy).

Nicolo Gabriel Morales if you have an early shiny frame and know this you are trying to land on the shiny frame by SRs. This is called “RNG abuse”. It can result in a shiny but is an illegitimate shiny.

It's 4 frames off. So if you have an exact shiny frame at frame 5328, then you would have to press A on the "yes" option in the dialog box at exactly frame number 5324.
SOURCE: I've RNG manipuled before, and just did it for a shiny Mudkip on a new save.

I have found something you missed in your video.
Kecleon can be hunted without SRing and instead with RA's if you have Latios with Memento as your only Pokemon in your party. It's a bit of a walk, however it is technically doable. I have just recently started this hunt, so if you know something I don't about this possibly not working, please let me know.

I prefer it compared to the risk of possibly missing a shiny frame when doing a battle video method. Plus it's somewhat unique.

So for the Hoenn Starters, what do I do once I find a Shiny Zigzagoon? Do I keep trying to get the timing as close as possible for a Shiny starter? Or do I try every position the area sign drops in? Also, does the internal battery message on Emerald hurt my chances to land on a Starter instead of another Zigzagoon?
No the dead battery doesn’t effect it for emerald. Once you find a shiny zigzagoon try picking the starter about 2 seconds later

Im sorta confused on the starters. Do u do like 10 resets of the first then 10 of the mext etc. Or the whole 5 sign tricks 10 times in order?
Another thing. I cant remember if this only started in later games but im pretty sure if u press new game then u cant save bc the old game is still there. Do u mean like delete the save file?
Storm 10 resets with each of the 5 signs (50 total)
And that started gen 4, so you can just press new game and play through, save at the bag, and then do your next 50 resets
Well, I've gotten my Shiny Torchic, and the Shiny Frame is about the middle of when the location sign is dropping down. Should I be able to find the stationery Pokémon with relative ease if I save in front of them? And is it still possible to get Shiny random encounters with such an early frame?
Alex Henley always able to RE. Yes you can SR but it's technically illegitimate because RNG clones. However, if you go after other ones through the battle record method you'll be ok.
Hello! I recently started playing Emerald again on my gameboy and growing up I never knew this way. Two questions, I have a dry internal battery so will that affect the soft resetting and shiny framing method? And second, is it possible to find a shiny starter before Zigzagoon? Thanks!
Emerald is always busted with its RNG so the battery being dead doesn’t alter that. Yes you can get a shiny starter before zigzagoon, but if you get zigzagoon you can definitely get the starter

Unfortunately there’s not much you can do in that case except replace the battery
1st the sign doesn’t drop :second one just when it drops: third one halfway down: fourth the sign is just finished coming down:fifth it stays down for a bit
so if we wanted to get a lot of shiny's from this gen, would the best method be to shiny hunt for a starter and figure out roughly where your early frame is where you get it, and then you can SR like usual at say the Groudon spawn, seen as that one & Kyogre is a tedious travel running in and out of the room?
If from spawning in the cave the encounter started at the same moment the shiny starter encounter happened at the beginning of the game, would it be a guaranteed shiny legend on SR?

It’s more complicated than that but yeah if you follow this guide you should be able to get the shiny

Why are you so concerned with frames and advancing them? You can find these with a google search.
Okay, just began shiny hunting Beldum on my Emerald (battery replaced, but I am still aware of broken RNG :P).
To clarify, the speed to get used to for Beldum, I should keep frames from battle video, not from game start? What I mean, even if I am slow before playing the battle video, but once I play it and receive Beldum since then, with identical frames - the rng blesses me with SAME Beldums? (hence after 15~ soft resets, I should rerecord battle video?)

I got a question, if RA encounters are possible. Is it possible for random encounters? Because I am hunting Skarmory in emerald. I’m using Illuminate, MagnetPull, and the Acro Bike. Is it possible for a shiny to appear from doing what I used?
You didn't elaborate on Castform so I'm a little lost. What makes it impossible to hunt?
I read that you can avoid Castform in Emerald by having a full party and storage system. You need the post-game to do the method, and since Kyogre/Groudon events trigger does this lock you out of the Scientist giving you Castform in the post-game?
I have heard that if I get a shiny starter (which means I have early shiny frame) it means that every other shiny I get will have the same nature and IV as said starters because of the properties of said frames. Is it true? If so, is there a way to, for example, shiny hunt for mew with specific nature?
yeap it's true. If you already has got an shiny pokemon on your actual save file there's a way to discover your SID and after do some stuff you will be able to "maping" all the shiny frames on your save file. And than than you can use some frame calculator and try to hit the exact shiny frame with the specific nature you wanted.

It’s shiny hunting, it’s still rare and it’ll take time. You might just be having a bit of bad luck but eventually you’ll get it if you keep going

I hear that replacing the internal battery on a copy of ruby, sapphire or emerald doesn't actually fix the clock immediately. Would replacing the internal battery in a copy or ruby or sapphire fix the soft-resetting problem emerald has right away?
That is correct about the clock, it will not fix until you restart your save.
However, for R/S, the RNG *will* immediately fix. Yet, emerald is always broken regardless of the battery. You will not be able to reset for shinies in it without one of these methods ever

Question for you. I understand the whole shiny hunting in a normal emerald cart thing, my question is, do you know how this works with the gb operator? Meaning, can you still do the runaway hunting of emerald with a dead battery on the gb operator?
Yes, you can do runaways on emerald using GB operator regardless of battery life
So do you need a shiny frame for RA shiny hunting? I ask because I have a Japanese copy of emerald with a dead battery (doesn't matter I assume) with a legit old sea map event on it.
You don’t need an early shiny frame, but all emerald saves have an overwhelming amount of shiny frames, you just need to get lucky and land on one while hunting. But you can do these methods on any emerald file

Kurt Anzano that wasn't Emerald, it was Ruby with a live battery so the frames are randomized, not frozen.
Hey, just did this in emerald for the starters. It took me 110 times and I'd start a new game after 50 SR's. Didn't even get a shiny zigzagoon just the shiny torchic!! thanks so much. Also, when trying this on the legendaries do you need the smoke ball or just run away?
Congrats! And either smokeball or runaway ability works so long as you can run, but you don’t really need either if you outspeed

I know this video is old and you might not see this but I followed this method but kept going passed the sign leaving the screen and ended up encountering a shiny Zigzagoon around 14 seconds after the route 101 sign left the screen. My question is, do I need to keep trying at around the same time frame of 14 seconds after the sign leaves the screen or just start the encounter immediately until my Mudkip shines?
Make your reset about 2 seconds longer than it was when you found zigzagoon 👌🏼
I have a question, in Pokémon ruby can you soft reset for a shiny or random encounter a shiny with a dry battery? And if I replace the battery will my games data be deleted? I’ve gotten a copy of Pokémon ruby recently but it’s battery is dry and I want to shiny hunt in it.
Cannot soft reset for shinies with a dry battery, can random encounter, changing the battery doesn’t alter your save at all for gen 3 games. If you change the battery and the save gets deleted then it was a fake game

Probably a dumb question, I followed the advice here and I know I can get a smoke ball. But if I you know do the run tactic a few times and I soft reset after a wipe because my RNG is bad on running away. Will I be getting the same Rayquaza even if I run away a few times or will I still have a shot at the shiny?
Don’t soft reset between runaways if you’re still hunting. You’ll only make it more likely for RNG clones. Just keep doing the runaways and you’ll be set

No it does not, they don’t respawn in R/S like they do in Emerald
