Thank you for putting this information in a format that is straightforward. I have a degree in machining, but it's been years since I've used it. Your videos show the program very well and are super helpful to get me going with my laser machine. Best I could find. Thanks for your help. Anthony thank you so much for such great tutorials. I have been learning a Yorahome 3018 with the 5W laser and it's easy to get lost in the immense depth of information about laser engraving but you made this stage so easy I've been explaining it to my grandson (8). I know how much effort goes into creating content and just want to send you gratitude and respect. Thank you again!
Thanks for the great tutorial. Some of it I blundered along learning a bit, but you have helped me to understand the setup a lot better. Plus now I should be able to understand my results better to make small ajustments when I need to. It took a lot of effort to setup the tutorials you have done, I know because I have setup training before. Great going, please keep it up. i'm running a Atomstack P7 M40, to test the water's.
thank you so much man, i have been looking for a good starter video on how to use this software and your video is perfect. thank you soooo much man ill sub and keep a look out for more
Anthony, That was super informative... I just purchased the SainSmart Laser to go with my 3018Pro CNC so this was a wee bit confusing at first... thank you for the break down! I look forward to more tutorials and videos
love the video , it got me been able to engrave on wood within a few hours , as i never had a clue before , my only problem is i cant seem to engrave on glass , i have a sculpfun s9 running on laser grbl , if you could pass me some info to be able to do this , it would be very much appreciated , thank you
I tried to have a first go yesterday, but it couldn't seem to find the edges properly of my piece of wood. I clicked centre and frame, but it was always a bit off. Why is that and how do I sort it please?
How did you get your image to snap to the bottom left. Mine keeps going to the top right and then I can't figure out how to place my wood in AND it seems to try to go out of my frame 🙃
I was looking around and trying to find some answer as to what the unit of measure for the size was and only here did the answer of "it's in millimeters" ever appear.
Hi Anthony...Excellent video..thanks. I followed along and started engraving a christmas tree on a piece of wood. It was going along ok until the laser suddenly stopped going back and forth and just stayed one position. Of course it just burned a hole through the wood until I shut it off. Tried for awhile to find what I did wrong but could not. I'm using a Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro running the LaserGRBL program. Can you help me find the fix or help me correct what I did wrong. Thanks very much.
Hello! Thank you for your videos! Can you please make a video engraving on rubber sheet? Id like to learn how to engrave on rubber sheet for stamp making using grbl. Thank you so much!
hi Anthony thank you very much for this video. Would you be able to explain how to change to scale for engraving letters and also moving their position , eg if i was engraving a name. Thank you
The laser head has to slow down to a stop before moving in the opposite direction. The slower a laser moves the darker / deeper the engraving. ME - you will get darker lines at the edges of your engraving because the laser stayed on the full power even though it slowed down to change directions. M4 comepnsates for a slowdown. It dims the laser accordingly on a slowdown so the engraving still looks even.
I don't have the import Raster Image when I open and image it place the image direct on work space and the work space change dimension depend on the image I load and it is impossible to move the image on the work space. What is wrong in my set up? I want to figure out why before buying and other software. Thanks if someone could help
I somehow lost the curser when engraving. I had it for weeks then I noticed today it’s not there. I see it as I hit play then it moves the where it starts engraving then goes off the screen. It’s just nice ti see it even though it’s not necessary. Any help would be appreciated.
There aren't too many bad laser engravers out there. I would suggest something cheap with an 8 bit board to start out with. I design and build my own lasers. Most lasers are designed around 3D printer mechanics which are slow and a bit of maintenance. Mine use high speed automation components which are fast and accurate,, but a little bit pricier.
That was very helpful thank you mate, would you be able to do a video showing how to do cuts? I want to get as much info as I can before my goggles arrive and I fire up my atomstack p7 laser for the very first time👍
Since getting ideal quality, speed and energy settings may require multiple tests, how can you get back to the dialogue boxes to make changes after a test engraving? It seems that once a file is saved, it opens in the "ready to print" window without parameter dialogue boxes reappearing.
Hello again, have you made any videos using lightburn? I noticed the laser is more powerful on lasergrbl than lightburn when I use my laser ortur 20w. Ill put the power mode to 80% on lightburn and it will take multiple passes to engrave an image onto a mirror, with lasergrbl it takes one pass at 80%. I know how to change the material selection on lasergrbl which is very helpful, but can’t seem to find that on lightburn. The lasergrbl uses mm/ per sec it is I believe and lightburn uses inches per second, do you know if there is a way to change it to mm/ per second on lightburn? Sorry for the long post, but I’m a newbie and would appreciate any help.
Very helpful, thanks. But I am having problems with the sizing, i am trying to do an 11x11 inch print and it keeps changing the size to whatever it deems necessary. Can you help me with this? Also is there way to change the measurements from mm to inches for height and width? I have the ortur laser 2 20 w. I have lightburn and do my prints and cuts from there, I just can’t figure how to get the size I want on lasergrbl. I’m just a beginner, any info would be greatly appreciated.
LaserGRBL is made by a guy in Italy where only metric exists. It looks like he does plan to add inches to the program eventually. I use 25.4 all the time. inches * 25.4 = mm. mm / 25.4 is inches. 11 inches * 25.4 = 279.4 mm
Hey Toni, hope all is good there. I am making quite a similar project in my final year of engineering. I can't figure out how to connect my CNC controller board with this software. Do I need to dowload Arduino software too along with grbl software. Pls comment.
Hi Anthony, thanks for taking the time to make these tutorial videos. You mentioned that you would describe how to find out what your lines / mm are for your laser. Like you, I have a 500 mw laser module. Are all 500 mw modules capable of 10 lines / mm or is this something that varies from module to module? Also, I've just built my laser engraver with an MKS DLC 2.1 board with the LaserGRBL 1.1h firmware and I'm using LaserGRBL 4.7.1 software. While I'm engraving I keep getting beeps with messages that say invalid gcode 10:24 or 10:25... Is this caused by some incorrect setting somewhere?
I'm not familiar with MKS DLV fork of GRBL. That does sound odd that it gets invalid gcode during engraving through laserGRBL. LaserGRBL uses very generic commands to run the engravings. I'll try to research that.
@@brakthehun I'm wondering if the gcode command lines are being truncated somehow due to buffer overflow. The board seems to be communicating fine but I'm wondering if the computer is sending data too fast. The buffer indicator is always nearly maxed out.
