The 14 year old Eric and Conner would be shitting their pants right now. I couldn't imagine what is going through these "kids" minds; getting to play with their heroes I am sure
they're so lucky that their heroes actually acknowledged and befriended them and that it didn't go the same way as DT with their musical heroes Queensryche when Geoff TAINT badmouthed them
Best moment where Portnoy rushes is the Budokan show when they play Stream of Consciousness, and JP has to play the already blistering fast solo like 20% faster LOL
Eric Gillette is a monster. I was sceptical leading up the seeing Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress tour, but he absolutely killed it. Closed my eyes and it could have been Petrucci. Every note and nuance delivered flawlessly
@@DarkeningSkies1 this is exactly the point bro.. other DT fans that defend Mangini without exception don't understand that is not about technique and who's faster.. It's about the feeling! Progressive rock with that feature it's rarely accomplished.. that's why We still attached to Mike and his role on DT back when he was in the band
Close your eyes and begin to relax. Take a deep breath, and let it out slowly. Concentrate on your breathing. With each breath you become more relaxed. Imagine Mike Portnoy back in DT.
Next time I hear someone complain about cell phones in the audience, I'll punch them in the face. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this, what a crazy surprise! Long live friendship... And get EG with JP on the same stage already! Give this incredible guy a piece of his childhood dreams!
Regarding cell phones...the thing is, sure, it's fine if there's 1 or 2 up in the air, and that footage gets to RUclips. We who can't go to the shows all appreciate that. But when it's literally like 40-50% of the audience ALL holding their phones up, getting shitty shaky footage, and those phones block so many others' views of the stage...that just sucks.
This is unbelievable..... I couldn't believe that Mike and Jordan were going to play together again and what an honor for Eric Gillette to play with them...... I hope John Petrucci and John Myung will play together just like old times
Pressed like! Also love Mangini and think he's the perfect guy for the job. Here he is slaying the drums during the finale of Scenes From a Memory at the Denver show on the 26th ruclips.net/video/oL10esfXpso/видео.html
Without question, Eric is so good in such a short time. He's amazing with all he's done with Neal Morse, and now stepping into the shoes of JP and playing Dream Theater's material like a young master would. Very gifted and blessed guitarist!
@@woodenhoe precisely, I was refering to that last album I don't even remember the name, astonishing, and DT, although lately, I've enjoyed some riffs of the DT album, but I think that's my limit. Astonishing is so boring...
So cool... :-) sure brings a smile to my face. I also like that Eric sounds very close to John, but it’s not 100% copy btw. Those 12 minutes involved more notes than the whole discography of Rolling Stones :-D
I reckon Eric is more point than Petrucci in this performance, Petrucci's live playing seems more sloppy everytime I see them live, maybe cause Melbourne Australia is usually last on a long tour and they're tired af.
Holy Shit!!!! I would have been freaking out if i was there. I hope the Transatlantic medley is available here. I would have lost it for that as well, lol. Thanks Mike. You rule.
Rudess & Portnoy, the 2 very most favourite musicians of mine ^^ And Eric is a freakin good guitarist, the fanboying of Petrucci made him a very technical artist. 11/10
I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one tearing up seeing Portnoy playing a DT song and Jordan Rudess joining him. Thats more than half of DT. Eric and Conner are beast!
At 7:20 when the bassist grabs a pick for the upcoming barrage of notes. :) The sound is superb on MP's kit and JR's keys are nice and clear. Sweet video. Thanks!

Ugh idk how there ain't one person jumping with damn joy!!! I really hope DT brings this back to a tour now that Portnoy is back! I have worn out that Budokan video.
We'll that was emotional! I have no patience for those who bad mouth Mangini and frankly neither does Mike given the admiration he has shown for his playing over the years. But to hear Jordan and Mike lock in like that was a joy. Well done Messrs Gillette and Green for fitting in so beautifully.
Here's the video where all began. Welcome back Portnoy!
The 14 year old Eric and Conner would be shitting their pants right now. I couldn't imagine what is going through these "kids" minds; getting to play with their heroes I am sure
Hahaha, exactly!!
But man, did they nail it. Wish I would have been there.
It's even better when you think in Conner's case that was just 11 years ago haha. He's an absolute beast with such a young age. Much respect!
Juan Manuel Tastzian jeez...now I feel old

Portnoy has the best sounding kit out there. And this is from a cell phone. 🤟😃
why I bought myself a star classic, just love the sound of it!!!
Anthony “Antz” Trujillo i doubt its the kit man. He was killer on the hello kitty kit lol
Agree. Great sound.
You can't hear the bass drum here...
@@nestalgeek3991 I can.
All those LTE parts man, brings me back... And damn Eric Gillette delivers. And seeing someone saying Portnoy rushing, that's the point! He's driving.
Yup. In any case; Portnoy would never rush too much.
I don't like when he does that, but it's a matter of taste.
Best moment where Portnoy rushes is the Budokan show when they play Stream of Consciousness, and JP has to play the already blistering fast solo like 20% faster LOL
Portnoy is a truly legend. All Actual and former DT members are but MP is different. He plays with soul, feeling, energy... This guy is insane!
@Garegh62 lmaooo.....good one!
Also has a good interaction with fans while playing!
definiteley!!
What about Derek Sherinan?
@@woodenhoe he's not founder, but he is also a pretty good musician

Bass : Conner Green (Haken)

Of course...
He wrote it duh
As Neal Morse has pointed out in a making of clip, Portnoy has an elephant memory :D.
I love portnoy only in whole DT troops
And he finally didn’t mess up the one Dance of Eternity section on 3:55 like on the original live recording.
Eric Gillette is a monster. I was sceptical leading up the seeing Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress tour, but he absolutely killed it. Closed my eyes and it could have been Petrucci. Every note and nuance delivered flawlessly

Fucks up a couple of times though
@@ricarcorpse where?

I am crying.

Super group for sure!

Sounds amazing. Portnoy really made DT sound great

I wouldn't go so far as to call him a "puppet "- his playing is technically great but devoid of joy. Mike really does play with joy.
