Here's the video where all began. Welcome back Portnoy!
The 14 year old Eric and Conner would be shitting their pants right now. I couldn't imagine what is going through these "kids" minds; getting to play with their heroes I am sure
Hahaha, exactly!!
But man, did they nail it. Wish I would have been there.
It's even better when you think in Conner's case that was just 11 years ago haha. He's an absolute beast with such a young age. Much respect!
Juan Manuel Tastzian jeez...now I feel old
they're so lucky that their heroes actually acknowledged and befriended them and that it didn't go the same way as DT with their musical heroes Queensryche when Geoff TAINT badmouthed them
Portnoy has the best sounding kit out there. And this is from a cell phone. 🤟😃
why I bought myself a star classic, just love the sound of it!!!
Anthony “Antz” Trujillo i doubt its the kit man. He was killer on the hello kitty kit lol
Agree. Great sound.
You can't hear the bass drum here...
@@nestalgeek3991 I can.
Portnoy fans press like button here
Present ;)
Hell yes the man the drummer Master
Pressed like! Also love Mangini and think he's the perfect guy for the job. Here he is slaying the drums during the finale of Scenes From a Memory at the Denver show on the 26th

Legend never DIE!!!
Go fuck yourself
Guitar : Eric Gillette (Neal Morse Band)
Bass : Conner Green (Haken)
Eric Gillette is a young John Petrucci. After seeing Eric play live in Orlando with The Neal Morse Band, the future of prog is bright.
he plays so clean too a lot like a young Petrucci
Port still plays all those parts with complete ease
Of course...
He wrote it duh
As Neal Morse has pointed out in a making of clip, Portnoy has an elephant memory :D.
I love portnoy only in whole DT troops
And he finally didn’t mess up the one Dance of Eternity section on 3:55 like on the original live recording.
I am crying.
Mee to 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Me too
Me too 😭😭😭
me to..
Mee too. Gold time
Portnoy is a truly legend. All Actual and former DT members are but MP is different. He plays with soul, feeling, energy... This guy is insane!
@Garegh62 lmaooo.....good one!
Also has a good interaction with fans while playing!
definiteley!!
What about Derek Sherinan?
@@woodenhoe he's not founder, but he is also a pretty good musician
Eric Gillette is a monster. I was sceptical leading up the seeing Mike Portnoy's Shattered Fortress tour, but he absolutely killed it. Closed my eyes and it could have been Petrucci. Every note and nuance delivered flawlessly
and when you realise that eric is a monster on drums and keyboard also...
And he's a pretty damn good singer too, his Root of All Evil was amazing.
Fucks up a couple of times though
@@ricarcorpse where?
@@MikeMike-jj8nd he did miss some notes here and there. It's ok tho, he's not JP
If these guys made an album it would amazing!!!
Agreed 100% !
Super group for sure!
Sons of Apolo?
Zebes 26 not the same dudes
They did years ago!
We already know how great Portnoy and Rudess are but WOW Eric Gillette and Conner Green were flawless.
Eric just sounds like Petrucci. If I close my eyes I could easily say it's JP playing. Incredible!
Not at 6:59 though :P
Así es. Finamente muchos hemos crecido con Petrucci cómo el puto amo de la guitarra.
En verdad creo que Eric es el que mejor interpreta a John, sobre cualquier otro.
@@Digity. Well.. Petrucci himself ever do a mistake. 😋
Eric is AWESOME!!!
Jordan loves it... Look the way he moves
I've never seen, in recent shows, Jordan moving (almost dancing) so much. Truly, he was so happy to be there with his friend!
@@saxman80 Sure he does.. He enjoying every moment
They need a super like button!
Hahahaha!!
Pretty sure that's called your favourites list...
Xenon pretty sure you are missing the point 😂
Tears in my eyes!!! The real Spirit of DT flow around the 12 minutes of that video, miss a lot.
I have some PROG tears in my eyes this moment. WHAT A BLAST!
Portnoy's drum sound on this cam recording is better than Mangini's studio sound.
This gets me more excited than the new DT songs.
Same here!
Same here !
Same lol
Same here!
Ditto 🙂
Myung with a beard. Finally!
Viktor Löki and petrucchi without..
😂 Pure Gold 😂 Take your like sir! 🤙
LOL
fake detected, Myung never pick the bass lol
Close your eyes, legit sounds like DT/LTE. Hopeful for that LTE Reunion. 💜😎🤘🎸🎶🔊
Sounds better imo, I can actually hear the bass
We need to Liquid Tension Experiment 3!!!
@@johnatangomes5759 yes, yes we do!!!
Benjamin Teacher . It appears that a LTE reunion will be happening. I can’t wait!
Hi to the real DT fans, all around here 😎. Listen to this is so comforting..the feeling it's back!!
Joseph Martínez this sounds more “genuinely” DT right?
Sounds amazing. Portnoy really made DT sound great
and mangini is just a puppet sorry to say, NOTHIN will replace portnoy in DT @@DadRockProject
I wouldn't go so far as to call him a "puppet "- his playing is technically great but devoid of joy. Mike really does play with joy.
@@DarkeningSkies1 this is exactly the point bro.. other DT fans that defend Mangini without exception don't understand that is not about technique and who's faster.. It's about the feeling! Progressive rock with that feature it's rarely accomplished.. that's why We still attached to Mike and his role on DT back when he was in the band
Portnoy played this song naturally and perfectly exactly how we wanted it to be. Excellent, Mike!!!
Rudess and Portnoy 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Pure musical magic.
"And my dear friend Mr Jordan Ruddess"
*hugs*
I shed a tear
12 minutes that are better than the last 2 albums...
@Marcel Tavares better than the last 3 albums I would say
@@claudioonate1744 A Dramatic Turn of Events is great
@@woodenhoe precisely, I was refering to that last album I don't even remember the name, astonishing, and DT, although lately, I've enjoyed some riffs of the DT album, but I think that's my limit. Astonishing is so boring...
@@claudioonate1744 whoops my bad, I forgot the (un)astonishing
@@claudioonate1744 astonishing os great album, hands down.
This is what Dream Theater should be. Tempo, rhytm, mood, everything's perfect on this one
This video right here perfectly illustrates the difference between a drummer versus a musician who plays drums.
They played it even faster than the original, but timing and precision were ON POINT! Excellent performance!
I miss this kind of energy brought by portnoy in DT..
Close your eyes and begin to relax. Take a deep breath, and let it out
slowly. Concentrate on your breathing. With each breath you become more
relaxed. Imagine Mike Portnoy back in DT.
Theyvemovedon
Hearing mike and Jordan on stage together again just gave me a SERIOUS CHUBBER! 😍🔥
All those LTE parts man, brings me back... And damn Eric Gillette delivers. And seeing someone saying Portnoy rushing, that's the point! He's driving.
Yup. In any case; Portnoy would never rush too much.
I don't like when he does that, but it's a matter of taste.
Best moment where Portnoy rushes is the Budokan show when they play Stream of Consciousness, and JP has to play the already blistering fast solo like 20% faster LOL
That couple at 4.00 is the happiest couple that night..
Mike Portnoy is the King !
This is unbelievable..... I couldn't believe that Mike and Jordan were going to play together again and what an honor for Eric Gillette to play with them...... I hope John Petrucci and John Myung will play together just like old times
@Wednesday Totally agree with you man, I really hope we get to see them together again and play such magical music
@Wednesday Labrie is the one that hates Mike, Myung just doesn't give a fuck.
FD36 Because you know how they feel about him?
@@TheGreenpig1 yes, I know magic and shit.
These were the best of times😢
I miss mike portnoy in dream theater😢..,by the way portnoy and rudess still a best friend forever and ever
Conner Green KILLS it! Great job!
Yeah he does!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Isabelle Villasenor he was OK
Mike Portnoy... how fresh he sounds, he was... and IS the heart of Dream Theater. You will always be missed.
guess what... there's some good news...
@@JuanCarlosHinojo can't be happier my friend!
The Legend Is back
Portnoy playing a 2x speed lol. And we all know that this is DT we all love and miss.
This made me smile. Thank you.
Eric is the closest thing I’ve ever heard to prime-Petrucci, and on top of that he can sing, play keyboard, and play drums. What an inspiration
Such a pleasure to hear them playing together again! Amazing! Definitely, Portnoy is the heart of DM songs.
Dave Gahan is not amused
*DT
Man, Eric is one hell of a guitarist.
Love this! Not only does Gillette sound like Petrucci, but Rudess sounds like Jordan and Portnoy sounds like Mike.
Next time I hear someone complain about cell phones in the audience, I'll punch them in the face. Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this, what a crazy surprise! Long live friendship...
And get EG with JP on the same stage already! Give this incredible guy a piece of his childhood dreams!
Regarding cell phones...the thing is, sure, it's fine if there's 1 or 2 up in the air, and that footage gets to RUclips. We who can't go to the shows all appreciate that. But when it's literally like 40-50% of the audience ALL holding their phones up, getting shitty shaky footage, and those phones block so many others' views of the stage...that just sucks.
Without question, Eric is so good in such a short time. He's amazing with all he's done with Neal Morse, and now stepping into the shoes of JP and playing Dream Theater's material like a young master would. Very gifted and blessed guitarist!
There´s a hope.
Holy Shit!!!! I would have been freaking out if i was there. I hope the Transatlantic medley is available here. I would have lost it for that as well, lol. Thanks Mike. You rule.
I love the fact Jordan is reaching out to play again. I have super hopes for a LTE album. That would be amazing
This aged great haha
@@Sappy-jg1cw Haha Right?
Eric Gillette is a monster.
He really is.
The NOSTALGIA from Budokan!
THE PIGS HAVE FLOWN!!! :D
There are no words to describe what I'm feeling right now...
...but happiness and joy are some of them!
Longest 9 years of my life without MP! This was the Prog booster shot I needed to make it another 10!!!
Good to see the 1st and 2nd generation of my Prog Heroes playing so well together.
Ah, real Dream Theater... it's been a long time, my old friend.
Is the Migthy Dream Theater.
Ain't no DT without Petrucci though
And Eric continues his evolution from JP Jr. to ... well, the beast that is Eric Gillette! Thanks so much for posting. Great stuff.
Thanks for posting it and thanks to them for makin it
Thank you for documenting this.
Now i remember again why i miss Portnoy in some places, and i didnt miss La brie for one nano second.. Speechless!
The usual Portnoy with his up tempo signature! This is what i missed from today's Dream Theater live concert :)
Yep!! There is magic when Portnoy plays!!! I'm crying!!!
So cool... :-) sure brings a smile to my face. I also like that Eric sounds very close to John, but it’s not 100% copy btw. Those 12 minutes involved more notes than the whole discography of Rolling Stones :-D
I reckon Eric is more point than Petrucci in this performance, Petrucci's live playing seems more sloppy everytime I see them live, maybe cause Melbourne Australia is usually last on a long tour and they're tired af.
True and funny and I love both bands , but you can still make great songs with less notes.
Really liking Eric's playing
I terribly miss Mike Portnoy.... Hoping for him to reunite with DT in the near future. This is I think a step towards that!
Alas!
*LTE III hype intensifies*
Dream theater is very good whit mike portnoy
but he left the band so....
Also great with Mangini
Yes. Portnoy and mangini same good
Wow this still sounds so fresh and pure.
Amazing job! The guitarist and bassplayer did an amazing job playing the john parts!
Really happy to see this. MP shows how these songs are played. JR is awesome. Eric and Conner are amazing. Hope there will be LTE3
Thanks 4 sharing. They r a great team
Thank you so much for this!!
Awesome!!! Almost a reunion, sounds just as good! 😎👍❤️
Couldn't hold my tears as those Hell's Kitchen chords hit.... As a DT Fan, this was fucking EPIC!!!! Thank You so much for sharing this.
Goosebumps! Thank you for sharing this video! Nice to see JR and MP on the same stage playing again!!
Live at Budokan lives! Freakin awesome! The greatest DT medley of all time! I’m so bummed I wasn’t able to see Shattered Fortress!!! Thank you.
"What happens when you push that button?" lol. Prog bruds getting to have a good time. Enjoying it for what it is. Sounds like a good cruise this year. thanks for the vid.
Rudess & Portnoy, the 2 very most favourite musicians of mine ^^ And Eric is a freakin good guitarist, the fanboying of Petrucci made him a very technical artist. 11/10
Absolutely incredible, what an awesome set of tunes in there, years of musical innovation and pure genius at work! Wish new albums sounded like that..
even after watching this video a million times, I'm still absolutely blown away about how perfect eric's guitar tone is
sentimientos encontrados al escuchar a estos grandes, awesome
New liquid tension album???🤟🏼🥳🤘🏼
Thanks for uploading this! 🤘🏼
YEEES!! Thank you so much for sharing this! EPIC!
Great Performance!!!
I like the new music concept in DT. But sudennly i miss Portnoy Drum sound n play. Mike Portnoy is LEGEND
Great audio capture! Thanks for sharing!
So much energy and enjoyment on that stage. Love it.
I miss Portnoy... I miss Dream Theater...
Me too😢
Conner Green is the low ends emperor.
Man this is so good. Eric is a beast and I love hearing Portnoy's energy on DT tunes again.
So wonderful, and I still pinch myself that I was lucky enough to be there to see it in person!!!!
Anybody else shed a tear
The beard playing bass is Conner Green
The Instrumedley never gets old! Cool seeing Mike and Jordan playing together one more time!
wow is all i can say; that base player from Haken is unreal!!! of course gillette is truly the best a man can get lol!! great to see jordan back with portnoy
that bass player is better than myung!!
12:00 I'm not crying, you're crying
"So what happens when you push that button over there?"
*magic happens*
Awesome Awesome AWESOME!!!! Eric is mind blowing great! What a incredible chance to see Mike and Jordan playing together once again!! Hope you guys DO something together!
portnoy is the heart of dream theater.
Has anyone see the couple in the background dancing at 3:58 :)
HAHAHA Relationship goals
Lmao "dancing"
That's The Dance of Eternity :-)
Yes, it's fucking hilarious.
Creyeron que eran los músicos del Titanic en 3ra clase
My god Mike is rushing like 10/20% faster than the original (at least at the beginning) don’t you think so ??? The speed is insane !
So good to hear anyways
Yeah man, its faster
Adrenaline.
maybe because portnoy is too excited lmao
MIGHT BE A LITTLE FASTER BUT PORTNOY IS A METRONOME
Definitely, but it's so awesome! He brings an energy to it, and everybody has to up their game a little bit, but it sounds so energetic. I miss his presence in DT so much!
The more you listen the more you get glued to this. I am watching for a second time to be able to write this. Mike as always is effortless as pretty much everyone is also. I have no words. This is higher level of existence and perception.
Mike Portnoy and Jordan Rudess are amazing!! How much energy! 🤘
