  • Dan and Sean took a road trip through Scotland to play a bunch of the best golf courses in the world. In doing that, they had to learn how to drive on the other side of the road. This is what happened...

    Driving on the left isn't "wrong," it's just different. Stop calling it the "wrong side."

      It's called the "right" side for a reason.

      Exactly. Bloody arrogance thinking that it's the wrong side of the road.

    He sounds very nervous driving over here . There should be some sort of information given to tourists driving over here for the first time . Here are one or two tips . The national speed limit is 60 miles per hour . Speed limit on motorways , these are similar to Interstate roads in the US is 70 . In most towns , it's 30 , but near schools and hospitals it may drop down to 20 . Main roads are A roads and on maps are shown with a letter A followed by a number which is the number for that road only such as A190 . B roads are similar shown B1355 etc. Country sides roads can be very narrow . So you may have to pull over to let cars pass in the opposite direction . The reason they are narrow is they were never intended for the use of cars . Some are very old being in use for 800 or a 1000 years . We do have a great number of roundabouts . Joining one and leaving is not that hard, they are plenty of videos on RUclips explaining how to use one .

    Not the wrong side of the road but the left side of the road.

    It is no big deal, really.
    The stearing wheel is on the right hand side.
    The most awkward part of driving is getting used to changing gear with your left hand,
    and most hire cars are manual gear change.
    but you can hire automatic gear change.
    If you are coming to Scotland on holiday don't be afraid.
    If you only use public transport you will miss so much.
    I drive in Europe and I had the same concerns.
    Embrace the challenge.!!
    Take it easy,!
    and enjoy,!!

    I coached my husband driving thru Ireland-
    Make a right turn into the left lane.
    Make a left turn into the left lane.
    He was on his own in round a bouts!

    Hey Sean, now you would appreciate how stressed a mate and I were when we rented a car from downtown San Francisco many years ago and then did a road trip across the US. Being from Australia, we normally drive on the left hand side. Okay in a straight line, but as soon as we turned, we had to concentrate. Good fun though.....

    What do you think the British do when they go to France etc?
    It really is not that difficult

    Do Americans do no prior research about the highway code before coming over here to drive? Seems to me it would make sense.

    This kinda seems like the first time these guys are driving on British roads and they are asking some super basic questions like "what's the speed limit on a motorway?" Are you even allowed to do that? Surely you have to pass a British driving test to drive on British roads, you can't just show up with your American license like you're ready to go... surely??

    • @whisper_dvm5157
      @whisper_dvm5157 6 лет назад

      Yep you can rent a car and drive in Scotland with an American drivers license. No previous British driving experience necessary

    • @welshpete12
      @welshpete12 5 лет назад

      If you are from an other country , you can drive over here for a year before needing to get a British licence . But be advised , to pass a driving test here is much harder than in some other countries !

    • @nutyyyy
      @nutyyyy 5 лет назад

      You can show up with an American license having only driven an automatic, and then rent a manual car without any understanding of the highway code and then crash 😆

    Thanks for posting this guys. I'm planning a 7 day trip in September and I'm renting a car in Edinburgh to travel around the country. How long did it take you to adjust? Was the left side of the road thing more difficult in the city?

    You were very brave. Driving on the 'wrong side' at night. And never trust a satnav. Get a map. They never lie.
