My mum, who died 6 weeks ago at the age of 99, used to make ice cream when I was a kid using the same cream and condensed milk mixture before ice cream machines were around . The recipe has been around for decades.

Omg, Rachel. This ice cream is AhMazing! Using what I had at home I made a pineapple coconut ice cream! Its heavenly! I added the 1tsp of vanilla and about 3/4tsp of coconut extract. Then I threw some sweetened coconut flakes in my food processor to keep the pieces really small. Next I opened a can of pineapple tidbits. I added a good amount if those too. But I cut each piece into 3 pieces to keep it small too. Haagen Dazs makes a pineapple coconut ice cream I am obsessed with. This tastes better! Thank You for sharing these recipes. I never knew you can make ice cream so much simpler then with my machine which requires a huge amount of ice. This is much better! I want to try your strawberry cookie one next! 🌼🌸🌺🌷🌹

I made this yesterday. The "custard" is a work of magic! I made one chocolate - and then crushed some Girl Scout thin mint cookies in it. It's FABULOUS. I also made a batch of strawberries and added some Chambord for an adult "kick". BEYOND DELICIOUS. I don't think I will be buying ice cream from the market ever again. Everything I have made from your channel (the ice cream; Mexican Rice; enchilada cassarole...) are wonderful! I really love watching you!

When I was a little girl my grandparents would give my brother and sisters and me a dime. We would walk down to the corner dairy store and each get a huge ice cream cone. It was delicious, fresh ice cream. My favorite was blueberry ripple. I’d like to try and replicate it using your recipe.

Rachel you can always fold a ribbon of strawberry preserves mixed with the cream then take a knife and run it through the ice cream for a pretty ribbon!
I saw the peach cobbler recipe and I decided to make home made ice cream to accompany the cobbler. I went to the grocery store and whipping cream is out of stock for three weeks. The local dairy doesn’t have cream in the summer due to the phenomenal ice cream they sell. So I went to the dairy and go there ice cream. As soon as I can locate cream I will make yoyr recipe. We have an ice cream maker but what a hassle.

The Americas Test Kitchen or Cooks Country have good recipes for un churned butter too. They also tell you the why you do certain things, I do like put plastic wrap over it, push it right down on the mixture so ice crystals don’t form. And put the plastic wrap back on after eating some so it won’t make ice crystals.
I made the first two, OMG!!!! THEY ARE SOOO GOOD!!! The possible flavor combinations are endless, my family actually prefers this ice cream to store bought. Thank you, Rachel

I just made this recipe and I made vanilla how ever I also added a package of dry coolwhip and it tastes just like store bought .. The reason I added the coolwhip is because my heavy whipping cream was in the freezer and when it defrosted it was a little bit lumpy and I didn't want it to separate into butter ❤ Thank you Very very Much it's perfect 🍦 .. It's August 2023 !

Aha sweetened condensed milk is the secret & shortcut. I tried making ice cream with heavy cream & cream cheese & mashed bananas and got a hard frozen block. But once a little thawed was still tasty.

Rachel, you're awesome. Just had to have chocolate ice cream, but couldn't get out. Remembered you made 3 different variations a couple years ago. Thankfully, I had the ingredients for the Chocolate ice cream recipe and added some chocolate chips and crumbled homemade brownies. Talk about triple chocolate... Wow, Rachel.

I just made this recipe and I made vanilla how ever I also added a package of dry coolwhip and it tastes just like store bought .. The reason I added the coolwhip is because my heavy whipping cream was in the freezer and when it defrosted it was a little bit lumpy and I didn't want it to separate into butter ❤ Thank you Very very Much it's perfect 🍦 .. It's August 2023 !

Aha sweetened condensed milk is the secret & shortcut. I tried making ice cream with heavy cream & cream cheese & mashed bananas and got a hard frozen block. But once a little thawed was still tasty.
