Thank goodness! Thank you so much! Someone FINALLY showed me how to remove that pesky light fixture! Do you know How Many tutorials I had to watch to find you??? A Lot. And Not One if them actually showed me how to remove the light fixture... which is where I was stuck. Just three little screws (or four in my case). Who knew? You are the best! Thank you so much, and I will look for you first from now on 😁.
Thank you that this was kind of entertaining. Made the tutorial bearable. Also, bananas are a personal fave, esp sliced up in a bowl of ice cream 👌. But LED bulbs are the way to go! 👍
The fans a Kmart alaska ceiling fan. good fans. i’ve been looking for that exact fan for several years, except in fully polished brass. thanks for keeping the old fan. will outperform a lot of modern fans
I love your sense of humor, lol. Thanks for this video, instead of a new fan, I'm now only going to change out my globe. I will be turning power off though because I'm NOT a pro like you, lol. Oh and you also need a hand in order to peel that banana.😁😁😂😂😂
and thats providing the fan can actually be upgraded.... the new units come with the light attached already! so, if you don't like it, you have to change out the whole fan! oh, and I would have taken the wires from the OLD light kit and spliced them onto the new kit... that way, the plug-in feature would still be available.
1:12 - I'm going to leave that on because I'm a savage", and 1:28 "...since I' a pro and I'm lazy, I'm just going to use a kitchen chair" sounds like some of us guys who also don't read assembly instructions. Hey, they gave us extra screws!
Thanks for the video! I want to change my light fixture in my ceiling fan, it's lovely but I don't use all 3 bulbs. It's just aesthetically pleasing if I just change the 3 bulbs to a globe.
Honestly the globe can provide just as much light, where as the 3 or 4 bulb kits work best with at least 2 or 3 bulbs so you dont have dark corners, way cheaper to go the globe route anyways and cheaper on lightbulbs especially if you're upgrading to the smart wifi lightbulbs to use with Alexa, google home or apple homepod, you only need to buy one of those expensive bulbs for a fan with a globe!
Yes, many electricians do this as an extra precaution and safety measure. Taping the cap on not only prevents arching to other wires/ a ground, it also keeps water out of it in the event the fixture becomes victim of water damage.
Not usually, no. Although the wiring would certainly function, ceiling fan lights often have unique mounting hardware that only allows them to be mounted to ceiling fans, so if you could find some way to mount it, then yes! But it won't be easy.
@@HHH_3 Well anything is possible with enough work. I don't really know what your goal is, but if you're not afraid to poke around and experiment with it then go ahead and try. I don't know what brand or type of fixture you're working with, I don't even know what country you're in, so with no context I can't help with much. But good luck!
Light kits are pretty universal unless they're specifically labeled for a certain brand. For example a universal kit probably won't work on a Hunter fan, and a Hunter light kit might not work on a Hampton Bay fan. Universal ones will more than likely adapt to common brands like Patriot lighting, Casablanca, Harbor Breeze, etc
@@WAEMIDIV Hey just wanted to say Ive seen a lot of tutorials today on different things and none of them had originality so thumbs up for keeping me engaged during your video.
That means you did a good job! If you replaced the fixture with the intention of causing spontaneous combustion, I'm not sure I can help, it's actually kind of difficult to make these explode.
dude please continue tutorials for anything you’re incredible, i also use scissors to strip wires
This is exactly what a tutorial video should be.

comments like these are really nice among some other less forgiving people out there
This is my favorite tutorial video I’ve ever watched.
Nothing like a banana after a days hard work

Something about the edited in explosion when power is reapplied… THAT’S funny.
Thank you so much - this really brightened my day!!!!

thank you for the help. I genuinely learned from this and it was entertaining
I actually screamed at the explosion!!! LOL
Well done, sir!!!
Looking to do the same..thanks for the video. Also very entertaining especially the blast part
That explosion at the end was funny but cruel. Thank you for this video.
The explosion was chef's kiss😂
made me laugh and helped me know what to do
If you don't screw that wire cap on there really tight good Fallout and the wires could touch it both arcing
FINALLY... someone spoke my language! Easy peasy.

You're hilarious and I now feel comfortable doing this myself. Thank you!

Is it possible to install a hanging lamp in the fan instead of the light kit that comes with it?
Cute one
After removed the 3 screws, I couldn't take down the light kit. Any tip ?

I am trying to find a similar light kit , Any idea where I can get it the Dome shaped
Local home improvement store, like Home Depot or Lowe's, maybe even Walmart might have a few to chose from
Very Entertaining! I get my potassium from a can.
This is hilarious. But also really helpful. I need to buy bananas.
Do you think taping the wire cap onto the wires with electric tape would reduce the risk of arcing?
Yes, many electricians do this as an extra precaution and safety measure.
Taping the cap on not only prevents arching to other wires/ a ground, it also keeps water out of it in the event the fixture becomes victim of water damage.
turning off the breaker/junction box helps if you're installing a ceiling fan. if you don't turn off junction box, electric shock.

Hi. I have a question. Can the light fixture kit from a ceiling fan work alone if the ceiling fan is removed?
Not usually, no. Although the wiring would certainly function, ceiling fan lights often have unique mounting hardware that only allows them to be mounted to ceiling fans, so if you could find some way to mount it, then yes! But it won't be easy.
@@WAEMIDIV Couldn't the lights connect similar to a standard ceiling light bulb? Thanks for the response!

How do you know what size to get or is there a standard size?

Lol awesome thank you 😂

I'm allergic to bananas... guess i can't do this project 😂😂
The "new" light kit actually looks better on this style of ceiling fan. The fake spotlight one was a hideous misfit.
I agree
Why would you downgrade from 3 light sockets to 1?
cause my mom said it was ugly
Very nice 👍 Opinions: old light was ugly
This video is whack but I legit laughed for the first time today after seeing the meme at the end. I guess I did learn though?
It's never a wasted day if you learned something!
